I'll be making a bug report tonight as I've finished my season and have yet to see an upgrade option. Sigh...back on the shelf for Slovenia. I've played 5 seasons of an England Tier 11 save with just 2 promotions up to Tier 9 so I might make that my main save or will go hunting for another league that looks interesting. The England save hasn't quite 'bit' like Slovenia did, but that may be the fact the players are still all under 19 and questionably skilled. My star is a Finnish U-21 CAM though, which is fun.
Good idea; think I'll continue for a bit but not really as motivated now... Guess Spain shouldn't be too bad even with excellent facilities, as long as they don't keep downgrading them in the future.
That Finnish player looks pretty awesome for Tier 9, although it is a bit random to get a star Finnish regen at AFC Knowsley ))

This got me excited for my Slovenia save. So far 5 months in and I haven't gotten the option to upgrade Youth facilities above Excellent....Maybe by the end of the season something will appear? If not I'll be making a fresh ticket. Damn this is frustrating.
Yeah I think I might have jumped the gun a bit with my excitement... Basically we upgraded back up to excellent but 6 months after that was completed there is still no option to ask the board for a new upgrade, which is unusual. I'll wait a few more months in the game and go back to that bug report I guess.

guys question. how do you improve youngsters this FM. I have BA and A facilities but none of the youngsters seem to have improved...also those out on loan who played many games....zero improvement.
sorry if this has been asked to death already,
I've been trying to figure this out as well... Basically, I think the first thing is to lower expectations a bit since developing players is much harder in this FM than say FM21. Second, I noticed that my staff seem to be pretty poor at judging how good the players are at the intake, so many of a/b rated players don't develop, but then you usually get some surprises of 3* PA youngsters rising to first team level. So it's a lot of micromanaging and working out which players are developing or not.
Third, game time seems to be really key. So loans (even before they turn 18 for me), and first team as soon as possible. I try to figure out which players are developing on loan and in youth teams (check the progress bars), and start giving them some appearances. Fourth, personality seems to be key as usual, but maybe even more now because I'm finding it harder to change personality through squad personality, mentoring etc than in previous FMs. Don't have many ideas on how to do better on this last one, really, other than trying to sign players with low PA/CA but good personalities and good personality coaches - but this doesn't seem to have that much of an effect in my save.

Sant Andreu – Season 11 (2032/33)
La Liga A very exciting season. We started off with 8 straight wins, including a 5-0 against Atletico. But then the European games and injuries caught up with us, and we lost 5 out of the next 6. After the winter break, our form picked up and going into the last 5 games of the season we were sitting in 1st place on goal difference, 2 goals ahead of Barcelona. We had the easier run in but we totally messed it up, hitting the proverbial bottom in a 3-5 home defeat to 16th place Sporting Gijon where they scored 5 from 5 shots on target, we won the xG 3-1, and our keeper got a 5.8 rating. We then also lost away to 18th place Getafe to give Barca the title with 1 game to go. Still, a great season, so more of the same next year please!
Europe We had a tough CL group with Bayern and Liverpool, and got a grand total of 1 point in our fixtures against these two. But we managed to finish 3rd ahead of Zenit and got all the way to the Europa league semis where we narrowly lost to Atletico while resting players for our title run-in (it didn’t help).
Players: Manuel Ristori 02c had a great season after years of average performances, scoring 20 and assisting 13. The two breakthrough players were Ernesto Ebona 06i, who did well on loan the last few years and got a 7.35 rating playing across our back four, and Leandro Gil 08a who has developed nicely and was no. 1 on the wonderkid list.
Youth intake (preview): Probably the most disappointing of our La Liga intakes - our team is getting better, but only two 5* prospects is a lot less than what we’re used to. Still, I could really do with a new keeper so I hope Miroslav Nicolic 11b delivers. Strange that I got about 4 affiliate clubs to get foreign youngsters, but only seem to be getting them from my Serbian affiliate.
Facilities: The 22.4 update meant …. drumroll …… a youth facility upgrade! So we’re back to excellent and everything else is maxed.
Transfers: Larger release clauses and no truly standout players meant nobody notable left, but I’m trying to clear out the squad a bit to make room for youngsters to develop.

By the way, does anyone know a workaroud the youth facility upgrade bug / issue? The one where after a while the option to ask the board to upgrade youth facilities is no longer there.
My youth facilities just got downgraded and I can't request to improve them, so it's getting from mildly annoying into seriously affecting my save territory...

Sant Andreu – Season 10 (2031/32)
La Liga Another season of overachievement from the lads. We actually were in the title race until January. Then we sold our best player and the form tailed off, but it picked up again towards the end of the season as our youngsters developed. On the last day, we had to match Atletico’s result to qualify for the CL. We beat bottom of the table Alaves, they lost to top of the table Real Madrid, and so we qualified with a hefty 75 points to boot.
Europe Another highlight of the season was a great Europa league run where we went all the way to the semis. There, we managed a credible home draw against Arsenal but I messed up the team selection and tactics for the away leg, which together with some good finishing from them led us to our biggest ever defeat, 6-0. Ouch. I hope this is not a sign of things to come in the Champions League!
Players: Jokin Carmona 06g was our best player again but he got sold halfway through the season, so I want to single out Moisés Nieto 07c who’s developed fantastically and grew into our (second) best player with 11 goals and 14 assists from centre midfield. He made it onto the wonderkid list too. Ivan Déniz 04b was another player who shone, coming into the team after 4 years of loans and topping the assist charts from a striker role with 16. Our captain Muhammad Badjie 03b topped the average ratings, and was very consistent as usual.
Youth intake (preview | intake overview): Yet more full backs and only four 5* prospects which is less than what we’re used to, but I’m very happy with Paul Lucas 10a in the centre of midfield - we’re solely lacking depth in this area so he’s bound to get game time soon which is key for development. I’ve signed most of the players given that my coaches have been pretty rubbish at judging potential, let’s see which ones of them develop.
Facilities: Waiting for the update to fix the youth facility upgrade bug, but the stadium got expanded again.
Transfers: Jokin Carmona 06g left for his £30m release clause. Kind of annoying because I could have set his release to anything back in the day, so why didn’t I set it to like £100m… I guess that’s what Barca were thinking with Neymar. So we didn’t need the money and he was a really awesome player, but we have lots of full back prospects in the club so I don’t think this should hurt us too much long term.

Sant Andreu – Season 9 (2030/31)
La Liga What a season! I was fearing a second season syndrome, and out first few games were quite ropey. But then we narrowly beat Villareal 3-2, and our form improved enough to propel us into upper mid-table. By Christmas it was pretty clear were were safe, but we weren't done yet as we kept climbing the table to the extent that we were in with a shout of CL football with 1 game to go. That wasn't to be but still, we finished 5th and will get our first taste of European football next season. The team feels a lot more competitive this season, most players are at least La Liga 2 standard and we more than held our own against all the big boys apart from Real and Barca.
Players: Our attacking midfielder Manel Blay 05a was the star again with 21 goals and 11 assists during the year. Left back Jokin Carmona 06g has grown into the best player in the club and is now wanted by Real Madrid. The £30m release clause I put into his contract ages ago is snow tarting to look like it might get triggered… Vicente 06c is the most exciting youngster, unfortunately he plays in the same position as Carmona. We also somehow nailed down the top 3 positions in the NxtGn wonderkids list, which can’t be half bad.
Youth intake (preview): Very happy with the potential on display, this looks like it may be the most talented intake to date. Not so happy about the position spread though. It’s kind of ironic that at the start of this save I was retraining midfielders to play at full back. And now our best player is a full back, our two best prospects are full backs, and the top 3 players from this intake are also full backs. Is there a formation that would accommodate them all? Still, Nicolás Paz 09c is now labelled as “the next Louis Suarez” - so there’s hope for some attacking talent in here too.
Facilities: Expanded the stadium but still can’t upgrade youth facilities. Everything else is maxed.
Transfers: nothing of note, might need a bit of a clear out next summer as all the loans for non-developing youngsters are getting a bit tedious to manage.

@Koetzer have you been able to upgrade your youth facilities? I'm now a year done from finishing building my stadium and I still haven't seen it in my save. this makes 3 years for me without it as an option. Anyone else know anything about this? Cause if my youth facilities are going to be stuck on excellent forever that might kill my run in slovenia.
I have exactly the same issue in my save. Stuck at excellent for 2 years now. I raised the bug here:
Maybe if you upload your save and raise the same issue it'll be more likely to be fixed?
EDIT: and congrats on winning the Euro Cup, that's some achievement!

Sant Andreu – Season 8 (2029/30)
La Liga We survived! A great season overall - we started off with three games against fellow strugglers and won them all, bringing us to 9 points, a total which took us well into the winter to reach last time we were in La Liga. We continued to play well until our form collapsed round-about March, but by then we were clearly safe from relegation. In the end we finished in a very solid 11th place. I am hoping for more of the same next season, and that our spring form doesn’t continue into next autumn.
Players: Manel Blay 05a was head and shoulders above the rest this season, finishing top scorer with 14 from midfield and making it onto 2nd place in the NxtGen wondered list. Jaime Viladegut 01b gets an honourable mention for holding down the right back slot - he’s a true modern full back in that he can’t defend but creates lots. Still, I hope that he finally gets usurped in the next 2 seasons. Jokin Carmona 06g was again the best of the youngsters.
Youth intake (preview): The preview promised the world but the intake didn’t entirely deliver - lots of good talent there, and I expect the top 2 prospects to become very good players for us. But there are lots of poor personalities too, so I’m not sure how many of these will develop in the end.
Facilities: For some reason I can’t upgrade youth facilities any more (maybe a bug?), but I managed to max out training facilities, and a stadium expansion is on the way.
Transfers: trimmed the fringe players a bit, and loaned out some youngsters

good luck @llado01; I'm also trying this with Sant Andreu atm. Think if you wait a few seasons you should get some decent prospects, some of my players from the first few intakes ended up reaching La Liga 2 standard eventually.

@libbyshuss Man that's really annoying! Guess the board had unrealistic expectations after you overperformed in your first season in La Liga. My first season up there it took a few months to get a win, but the board didn't mind. It can be so random with these narrow losses and bad morale. Any thoughts on where you'll try next?

Sant Andreu – Season 7 (2028/29)
La Liga 2 Back at the first time of asking! Zaragoza, Almeria and Elche all gave us a good run for our money, but after a solid start we really picked up form towards the end of the season, notching up 12 straight wins and winning the title with 97 points (from 42 games) in the process. Hope this end-of-season form means we have a better chance of staying up in the top flight on our second attempt.
Players: Muhammad Badjie 03b was a real discovery this season, I moved him from right back to centre back and he was unbelievable, rating 7.66 on average and scoring 9 goals from corners. Manuel Ristori 02c has developed nicely and is now our only La Liga standard player, while Sergio Mulero was prolific as usual, scoring 27 and assisting 12 this time. Jokin Carmona 06g was unexpectedly the pick of the youngsters, partly because I offered the top prospect from last year’s intake an expensive contract, which saw his personality worsen and development stagnate as soon as he signed it, so Carmona with his spirited personality has done the best out of last year’s talents.
Youth intake (preview): Another solid dip from the double exceptional pool, much more varied in terms of nationalities this time. I have a feeling Nil Villanueva 07a will develop into a cracking striker, and Moisés Nieto 07c has a very nicely balanced attribute spread for a centre mid. So even though this intake doesn’t look quite as good as last year’s, I’m happy with it overall.
Facilities: We got a new owner who floated us on the stock exchange. Together with the parachute payment this meant we had plenty of money in the bank, so I upgraded both training and youth facilities which are now both at excellent.
Transfers: mostly loans out

Sant Andreu – Season 6 (2027/28)
La Liga It kind-of felt like we got promoted too early but still, given our past successes I was secretly hoping to survive our first season in La Liga. Well, we were in for a shock. We just couldn’t buy a win, literally, it look us 13 games to win one and by January we were well adrift at the foot of the table. We managed to mount a late surge in March/April, winning 3 out of 5 games, but then our form tanked again and a 2-1 defeat away to Girona more or less sealed our fate. We still had a chance to survive on the last day, but we needed to win and Girona needed to lose. In reality, the opposite happened, so back down to La Liga 2 we go.
Well deserved, given that quite a few of our starters are still 3rd division standard, but now more and more of the team have developed into decent or good La Liga 2 players, so hopefully we'll be able to bounce back up in the next few seasons. We need it as we’re bleeding money now that the coaching and recruitment are maxed.
Players: Franco Egea 01f, Aarón Hontoria 01a, and Sergio Mulero were the only ones not out of their depth in their division, with Mulero scoring 17 and assisting 10, and Hontoria winning the European Golden Boy. Some youngsters are developing nicely, with Muhammed Badje 03b's progress meaning we finally have a rightback who can defend (too late for this season, though...)
Youth intake (preview): Wow. Jeez. Talk about a good intake. We were promised full backs and for once we got full backs. Plus two more players - Aleix Garcia 06a and Edu Colomer 06b - who can more or less go straight into the first team aged 15. This feels like one of those game-changer intakes, so let’s see how these lads develop now. It probably won’t be long until many of them are starters for us.
Facilities: I put the TV money to good use by maxing out coaching, upgrading training and youth facilities, and ordering another upgrade of each. The youth set up is expensive, but given the intake this year it seems well worth it. Got a model citizen HOYD too, so plenty of progress off the field despite going backwards on it this year.
Transfers: just loans out

Sant Andreu – Season 5 (2026/27)
La Liga 2 I was fearing a second season syndrome but instead we got the complete opposite. From the start of the season, the team just clicked, winning 16 of the first 20 games. Our form then turned a bit inconsistent in the new year as two of our defenders were surprisingly called up for the ACON (one of them winning it with Gambia!). But the teams below us just kept messing it up and could never get close. Our fate was sealed when we won two crucial back-to-back away games at 2nd placed Girona and 5th placed Real Valladolid in late spring, and we managed to win the title and secure promotion with 3 games to spare.
After spending 14 seasons getting to La Liga with Xerez in the last FM, getting there after 5 seasons is a rather surreal experience. Regardless of whether we stay up, the money should allow us to make some nice investments in the youth set up.
Players: Aarón Hontoria 01a is still the best player, but the key this season was Sergio Mulero, who scored 29 and assisted 5 in 36 games, and has just exactly the right attributes for a pacey striker. I’m kind of tempted to see one of Sant Andreu’s games irl just to check if such a player is really currently playing in the Spanish Tercera division… A final shout goes to Héctor Alvarez 03c, in this challenge having a good keeper really matters and he developed very nicely this season. I think these three lads forming a solid spine of the team was the big reason we managed to get promoted.
Youth intake (preview): I was absolutely buzzing after the preview which promised 5 A-rated positions including full backs. Relative to that, the intake was somewhat disappointing, and the promised full backs didn’t seem to materialise. Still, some of the attackers in this intake look very impressive, even though I’m already pretty well stocked in those positions.
Facilities: The board finally approved some junior coaching upgrades so we’re now up to excellent, and I managed to order an upgrade of youth facilities too. Hope that I get some fullbacks in the next few years after these.

Sant Andreu – Season 4 (2025/26)
La Liga 2 A great first season in La Liga 2 as we defied all expectations, including mine, to finish 9th. We sat in 7th, just outiside the playoffs, for most of the season, but our form fell off quite dramatically in the last two months, so I was happy the season stopped when it did.
The only annoying thing about this season is that the board keep refusing to upgrade youth coaching saying that “we have enough youth players in the team already”, despite all the TV money coming in. I wish I could tell them I’m doing a youth only challenge, but maybe then they’d sack me ))
Players: Aarón Hontoria 01a is still the best by far, rated as a good player for the league we're in and wanted by a bunch of La Liga 2 clubs. But this season saw a few more youngsters develop nicely, with Manuel Ristori 02c grabbing 10 goals and 10 assists from right wing, and Franco Egea 01f playing consistently well at center mid.
Youth intake (preview): We are desperate for full backs so I was not chuffed with the positional split in the preview, but in the end we got one defender prospect Adria 04a, and one midfielder (Jordi Muniz 04d) who has decent attributes for a left back, so this may prove a pretty useful intake in the end. Given their post-intake development, Ivan Deniz 04b looks like the most promising one of this bunch; I don’t really need more attackers but good strikers and keepers always seem key to doing well in this challenge.
Facilities: £4.8m TV money allowed us to order a re-upgrade of the training facilities, and even though the board won’t let me upgrade coaching they have no such qualms about youth recruitment, so that’s up all the way to exceptional.

Sant Andreu – Season 3 (2024/25)
Primera RFEF Grupo I We tried our best to achieve automatic promotion, but in the end we were just not consistent enough, and had to settle for 3rd place and the playoffs.
In the semi final, we faced Valencia Mestalla. I feared the worst after we missed a host of early chances, including a penalty, but we prevailed after scoring 3 in the second half.
In the final, we faced Extremadura who finished 2nd in our league on 82 points, and have a very strong team. I wasn’t too optimistic when they went 1-0 up after 4 minutes, but it was just one of those games, everything we hit flew in, our keeper played a blinder, and we overturned the deficit to thump them 4-1 and secure promotion.
So an amazing season, kudos to all the players, don’t think we’ll stay up next season but the TV money will be very handy given that we’re bleeding money and our finances are insecure.
Players: Probably strictly speaking Sergio Mulero was our best player, netting 27 goals and 6 assists, and Aarón Hontoria 01a is the best attributes wise - he’s developed so much better than everyone else, and is now rated as a good player for La Liga 2, whereas the rest of the first team is decent Primera RFEF / leading Segunda standard. But I have to give my favourite player award to our AMC turned full back Jaime Vladegut 01b, who turned around that playoff final on his own, scoring a 30-yard screamer to equalise and assisting the next two goals. I have to say, I would never play a full back with a tackling of 5 if I could buy players but there are advantages to having all these attacking skills at his disposal.
In general, I’m noticing how much harder it is to improve players on this FM, they really need gametime so the few that are getting it are mostly developing nicely, the others more or less not at all, which makes it even harder to give games to these low CA players with high potential.
Youth intake (preview): Not too thrilled, only one 5* player and no full backs. But on the plus side, the new HOYD seems to have improved the personalities, and I finally have some keeper prospects. I even made Héctor Alvarez 03c my starting GK for the last few games, including the playoffs, since my old GK was so poor, and he did fine.
Facilities / finances: Training facilities downgraded and insecure finances, I am waiting for that TV money!
Transfers: no ins, only loans out

Sant Andreu – Season 2 (2023/24)
Primera RFEF Grupo I Another great season from the lads. I thought we’d struggle after our best and only right-back José Llamas unexpectedly retired in the summer, and our right winger who could also play right back refused to renew his contract, leaving me to retrain a youth AMC to play emergency right back )) To add injury to insult, my first-choice AMC then broke his leg and my best MC tore his ligaments, leaving us short of quality for the majority of the season.
But then, we had all these youngsters, and the quality of the teams didn’t seem that much higher than the division below, so after a slow start we were flying in the winter, winning 9 in a row and going up into the playoff spots. Our form nosedived in the last few months, but we still qualified for the playoffs in second. That was a step too far however, as we lost the playoff semi in a closely fought game against Castellón.
Players: The attackers that were at the club are still our best players but they were injured a lot, so the player of the season goes to last intake’s Aarón Hontoria 01a who developed amazingly and suddenly from having no good center backs we have two very good young ones, with Hontoria rated as one of the best players in the team at 16 years old. The other honourable mention goes to our AMC Jaime Vladegut 01b who hasn’t developed as much, but managed to both become natural at right back, and notch up 3 goals and 6 assists from that position (alongside some pretty terrible defending).
Youth intake (preview): Quite a few 5* prospects again, but personalities are poor and no-one is first team ready yet, so it’s not really what I was hoping for. I hope some of the fullbacks develop as we’re really lacking in those positions. I am also thinking about cheekily retraining Alex 02b to play left back...
Facilities / finances: £900k in the red but they agreed to upgrade youth coaching and recruitment, gotta love this board! Rumours of a takeover are circling but I hope they aren’t true.
Transfers: this is no Newcastle Utd, we were content with loaning out 1 player ))

Sant Andreu – Season 1 (2022/23)
Segunda RFEF Grupo III What a season! We started off drawing 7 and losing 1 out of our first 9 games, but gradually picked up pace to move into playoffs and towards the top of the table. A few injuries in March saw us slide down to second, but after the youth take arrived the much needed depth saw us win our last 5 games and clinch the title. Not only this, but looks like the dreaded playoffs have been reduced and the 1st placed team gets promoted automatically, so we’ll be playing in Primera RFEF next season.
Players: Until the last few games, we only had 11 non-grey players so I had to manage the resources judiciously. The plaudits have to go to our attackers who are rated as good to star players for the division, with Uruguayan Germán Fassani (ST) scoring 20 and assisting 8 in 34 games. Another key player was 37 year old full back José Llamas (DRL) who shook off the years to finish the season with an avg rating of 7.66 from full back.
Youth intake: Properly thrilled with this, it does make a difference to be a full-time club with decent facilities. Eight 5* prospects, and 4.5* is already a good player for our division. Aarón Hontoria 01a goes straight into the first team due to our lack of centre backs, but many of the others will provide useful rotation options next season.
Transfers: none

U.E. Sant Andreu - Season 1 pre-season
Giving this a go in FM22. Like last year, I'll continue in Spain, but this time with the Barcelona-based U.E. Sant Andreu, which is technically my local team (and I do feel a bit bad for never having seen them play). The side is full-time, and the facilities are decent, so long-term I think the prospects are pretty good.
The problem will be surviving in the short term, as I have a squad of 11 players, with 1 proper center back, two more defensive players aged 37 and 39, and a bunch of decent attackers who won't renew their contracts. So the first two seasons will most likely be a bit of nightmare, and I'll need a good first intake to keep our heads above water. Fingers crossed...
And then of course, this happened...

One thing I think is worth looking at is the balance between old non-regen players and regens as the game goes on. In the past years' games, regens would usually dominate old non-regen players after a few seasons. I felt this was unrealistic, and I think SI tried to address it under the hood, making non-regen players decline slower, and youth development much harder.
But I think now we're in the extreme the other way round. Basically older non-regen players end up dominating way too much because they don't decline fast enough, and regens end up being dominated because they don't develop enough (especially when managed by the AI).
In my save, I'm in year 2032. And still, the 33 year old Mbappe has 19 for pace and accelleration, probably still the fastest player in the game, and winning best player awards for years on end. Looking at the French team, which I focus on because I've had the French league loaded but fully AI managed for about 8 seasons, 19 out of 23 players in the national team are old non-regens, and 18 out of these 19 are aged 30 or older.
When playing in the CL, most teams I meet are still packed with 33+ non-regen players with 15+ acceleration and pace, and I have most major leagues loaded on view-only and France on playable.
So overall I feel that these two things need to be scaled back, with older players melting faster and regens developing better, maybe like 75-25 average between FM22 and FM21 (so closer to FM22 but not all the way to current levels).
But in general, this seems worthy for SI to investigate and balance a bit in future versions, if they haven't already.
Finally, just to say, overall I'm liking the rebalancing of development and ageing, just think it went too far. Also, I think the AI transfers have improved, I tend to see the major AI teams snapping up the few wonderkids that do generate, and having better squad management overall (less of the old issues of 10 centerbacks in a squad, or buying a player and then transfer listing them a few months later). So good work, and look forward to future improvements.

Not in my experience... Might be worth you commenting on this in the bugs tracker, the more of us raise the issue the higher the chances SI will fix it though at this stage of the game I'm guessing these chances are pretty low.
