  1. Just finished my first season and got to try out the new transfer stuff. Oh my does it take the pain out of selling players! Had some players that I reckon Id struggle to shift in past games and the new mechanics make it so much easier to nail an offering price etc, so we arent doing the usual offer, no bid, lower, no bid etc etc.
  2. Ive never seen your example in game. I said clubs will sometimes renew contracts for star players with 3 years left. Ifs its such an issue then best to post it in the bugs forum with a copy of your save game as that will show the clear issue.
  3. But that player could now be an experienced / much wanted player if the contract without the salary rises was offered at 21 and they are now 23 and performing well and have made leaps in their ability. Still this can be managed, I had similar with Destiny Udogie who after his first season at Spurs wanted a rise from 60k ish to 200k, he needed a rise and I told him end of season. That then fitted in with my 2 years to go renewal. Sitting on another 2 at the moment too, both are important players for me. Last season they both asked (they both arguably were underpaid in comparison to others), and I said no as they needed to improve which they accepted, they have improved and carried it into the next season and asked again and I said end of season: Not suggesting its perfect but their are plenty of tools we can use to push back and manage these situations. And really sometimes players will not accept this, but as i say its a management game and sometimes clubs will have to decide to move that player on if it doesn't fit what they as a manager want to spend.
  4. Agree, if anything its a little too easy to remove requests for X salary after X first team appearances when signing players which I'm sure many do like myself, and also to remove the % yearly pay rise. So its worthwhile considering I find to offer the basic wage to somewhere in-between the basic we can offer and their top request for a rise, do find by doing this that I am far less prone to players demanding rise after a year of good form and improvement, and I can generally stick to renewing contracts when they have 2 years left. Also as said in my above post the situation can be managed for squad players in various ways, and also as in real life if my Star players with 3 years left wants a bump and is playing well I will as with real life clubs tend to choose to lock in these players. After all its just the salary rising as believe the loyalty bonus is reset as its based over the span of a contract. And of course if I feel its too much to ask considering my budget then as with real life clubs I have a decision to make that perhaps I should sell. Would be great if in future versions we could see amortisation included or displayed for making these kind of decisions, as we'd be able to see clearly the benefit to the club of extending the contract in terms of what it does to player value. Also for each tier of the squad planner see how wage budgets would be change should we drop down to our next best option etc.
  5. Never seen this as an issue, if its a prized asset on form then a lot of real life clubs would extend contracts if the players form and stature has increased and they deserve to be brought in line with higher earners. For lesser players in FM I normally promise them one at the end of the season if playing well (which most accept and doesnt damage morale), or if not I tell them they need to earn it. In the latter case if they dont improve I can now tell them that I will consider their future at the club, and will most likely also look at them as a position to refresh in close season. Also havent seen any change in for the most part I can stick to a plan of renewing by choice when they have 2 years left. Yes, of course it will sometimes not work like clockwork and I might see unhappy players but hey we are managing a club and its not always meant to go our way.
  6. Some other neat things in the ME. Previously wide players with on the side they havent the strongest foot on but reasonable other foot would always turn back and not cross, Now they do, even if the cross isnt great, Also before players would clumsily run the ball out, now they recognise they won't get it and let it go for a throw. Also like how players control the ball into their path or knock it ahead a bit. Rather than as before stop momentum in attacks by killing the ball.
  7. Great that wingers can now be set to cut inside with ball, someone at SI noted Ange ball surely with that change, replicating it works much better than either using the old winger setup or IWs on stay wide.
  8. Have only played a couple of games but one big improvement for me is players realising they are offside and stepping back on, hopefully this will reduce the amount of silly offsides. Also I could be wrong but dinked finishes over the keeper are new? And keepers getting hands to the ball and it not being enough. And dodgy passbacks seem more realistic, not like before when it felt that the game decided upon it therefore goal, hard to describe this one but ok same outcome but looks more akin to when it happens irl. Also as someone playing on a work laptop- like how low setting graphics look better, less blocky with some AA and the ME runs very smooth.
  9. There are two versions, one that clearly specifies it isn't early access etc. The real one is 32-33 quid the one that isnt is 29ish. I made that mistake and they refunded the money. Also you need to restart Steam to install too.
  10. Its fine, I got it from there and am playing 24. Just ensure you get the one that says early access as there is a cheaper one that isn't.
  11. Clearly everyone has seen it in previews but for a release that we all thought was gonna be a placeholder, the set piece creator is so welcome and so nice to be able to set these up so easily. Haven't time to try the ME but previews look fantastic, but hats off to adding some great features this year despite the big rebuild next release.
  12. I like FM YouTube creators, I'm 51 and find that generally they are less annoying (if at all) than some other genres creators.
  13. Talk about miss the point.... Its an absolute joke, maybe stop focussing on average numbers and actually see what happens in matches. Romero I can take as a yellow waiting to happen but every other game Im getting kicked off the park with next to no punishment for the AI.
  14. Why on earth does man marking change when the AI changes formation. Its called man marking I want them to mark the man, so it shouldnt change when formation changes. The game hasnt been able to handle player positions changes for many releases, be it like this, swapping our own formations or in the tactics creator.
  15. Been working on this a while and finally think I have something that replicates it and works for anyone looking for this now we've seen how Spurs setup. My transfer were basically the defenders we'd been linked with and who we've actually signed (VDV is injured if you're wondering why he isnt here), but keeping Kane, although Richie and Scarlett seem fine in this with goals from all areas and Im thinking of cashing in on Harry to make it more realistic. Also Dewsbury-Hall I picked up as a backup to Bissouma, and Zaniolo for Deki and he can also play on the left. Emerson this season with it working is on fire: As is Porro: Maddison and Bissouma too: Only PI is the Mezzala to shoot less often, and a couple of tight markings. Son is fine, but Im a couple of seasons in and he wanted to leave and Olise is a great replacement. 3 matches into current season and some very good performances: ange.fmf
  16. Another absolute joke of a game. Any chance you guys could make the "Persistent foul but don't get a yellow card" button available to players too? On a more serious note this is horrible because it means my players are picking up many injuries thanks to this. On a more serious note this is horrible because it means my players are picking up many injuries thanks to this. This is 4 months into the season!
  17. Still absolutely makes no sense. 6-2 6 fouls me (2 yellows) them 13 fouls (zero yellows). Look at my players to see how Im not playing an intensive game: And The opposition:
  18. Mezzala and Inside forward dont get in each others spaces if you have the one as attack and other as support. Know many will prefer the IF on attack but truly its a great combination with Mezzala/A and IF/U. Helps if both have the one-twos player trait. Even then them hitting the same area isn't bad as its giving you an overload in the channel and frees up space for the Wingback that side.
  19. If only they did cut in. Absolutely abysmal that cutting in is run to by-line ignoring chances to at least try and cut in, then just turn back and then try and cut in removing any impetus in the attack. Its absolutely shocking, this with players who have cut in from wing and also very high agility, dribbling and good on both feet.
  20. Well this is new, although 3 seasons into starting to replace the current Spurs squad with a home-grown rebuild and this pops up- £861m and to not spoil my game its a case of resisting not using it:
  21. Still enjoying this a lot. But......the poor AI squad management with rotation (or rather lack of) makes the game far too easy at any level. Even before Christmas I'm running rings around them purely because their players are either knackered or injured. IMO this really needs a look at.
  22. Dont agree with this at all, the two defensive line options are what gives us the subtlety to setup various kinds of blocks and also compress the pitch. It also shows the setup in a very logical way.
  23. I find it fine leaving it to him but do always make sure after games its set to one session of recovery, and also a team review session. I also tweak during times of fixture congestion to ensure there arent too many physical sessions in 2 or 3 game weeks.
  24. Agree, seems odd to say it but the thing I've appreciated in the new update is the much improved way moves break down in terms of variety. Blocked crosses used to drive me crazy with that and watching numerous wasteful corners but now its much more watchable due to the unpredictability.
