  1. Which isn't, from my admittedly outside perspective, what I've seen is the case in real life. If the manager is in charge of training sessions and scheduling them, it follows that they should have equal influence on the preseason starting date.
  2. Being able to hold cup games in nearby larger stadiums would be a cool feature to add. Occasionally in the DFB Pokal's early rounds, when a small lower-league team gets drawn against a big Bundesliga team, the club might choose to host the game in a nearby larger stadium, as typically those lower-league teams will have only a few thousand capacity at most, with poor facilities and no under-soil heating. Moving to a larger stadium allows for more ticket sales (as the DFB Pokal matches are often well-attended, drawing big crowds), more hospitality and so on, meaning the lower-league team can get much more money from gate receipts and showcase the club off to potential new fans. Recent examples of this include Bremer SV vs Bayern München (moved to nearby Werder Bremen's stadium) and Teutonia Ottensen vs RB Leipzig (Can't play in their home stadium because artificial grass isn't allowed in the Pokal - they tried to move to nearby Hamburger SV and St Pauli's stadiums but they rejected because it would benefit Rasenballsport, so now they're looking at swapping the home rights to hold the game in Leipzig). Swapping the home rights with the opposing team would also be an option. Suggestion for implementation: If home stadium is less than e.g. 2,000 capacity for the first round, 4,000 for the second round, 6,000 for the third round, etc; the team's opponent is a high-reputation big club; the board think they could get a big crowd (e.g. club with 2k stadium capacity thinks they could sell 10,000 tickets in a 25,000 capacity nearby stadium for the big game)
  3. The default training schedule for semi-pro clubs in Football Manager is 4 sessions per week, 2 each on Tuesday and Thursday, with a match at the weekend. More matches means one day of training is removed, no matches means an extra two training sessions on Saturday. In this feature from the Football Medicine & Performance Magazine, Daniel Bernardin (Head of Performance at Queen's Park Rangers) and Dylan Mernagh (First Team Sports Scientist at Queen's Park Rangers) write that "most semi-pro clubs will train Monday, Tuesday and Thursday", and they deliver one strength and conditioning session per week on Wednesdays to their client clubs. Anecdotally, some users in this discussion from 2015 mention that semi-pro clubs in Sweden and Norway typically train every day in the afternoon or evening. One user mentions that semi-pro clubs in Sweden's third tier having as many training sessions as the professional clubs, albeit not as individualised due to fewer coaching staff. Another says that their local semi-pro club (one who were closer to being amateur than to going pro) in Norway trains 4-5 days a week in real life. My suggestions: If a semi-pro team can afford to do so (e.g. a team in the Vanarama National League and VNL North/South [English 5-6th tiers] or Regionalliga [German 4th tier] with a mix of professional clubs and semi-pro clubs) they should be able to train more than the current limit allows for. Semi-pro training schedules should be able to be adjusted by the nation's researcher(s) to better reflect the actual situation.
  4. I have to say I'm still ...perplexed? confused? by agents in FM. All too often, an agent whose description says they're "known to be flexible and willing to negotiate in order to reach an agreement for his client" will be precisely the opposite in my experience; and an agent described as "regarded as a very impatient negotiator" will be much more flexible and patient. Anyone else or just me?
  5. Set piece routines are broken, episode #4096 Why is my DL (#26, Đorđević) coming short for a throw-in next to the opposition's corner flag on the right-hand side of the pitch? My throw-in routine has him set to Stay Back, with AMC (#23, Achtzehn) and MCR (#17, Hoffmann, in the D of the penalty area for some reason) on Come Short. I have DR (#20) set to Get Forward but he's standing in front of my CB (#24, Schmitt) near the halfway line, MCR (#16, Noël) set to Lurk Outside Area but he's behind my other CB (#18, Frank) at the centre circle - that DCL is set to Get Forward as well. STC (#11, Klein) is set to Attack Near Post but he's standing in the D of the penalty area, instead he should be roughly where AMR (#27, Fisch) is, who is set to Attack Far Post. All around just completely bizzare and further demonstrates why the set piece creator desperately needs a huge revamp for FM23.
  6. FM22 - Not much tactical fouling, just clumsiness from lesser-skilled opposition - tripping my players when trying to tackle, or the "impromptu lunge exercise" animation They subbed out their entire team at half time
  7. I don't think they got the memo that this was a preseason friendly
  8. I'm managing in the lower leagues, so obviously you'd expect some poor refereeing. But at least when playing on Comprehensive Highlights, I'm not noticing any controversial referee decisions, it's only in the press conference after the match that I'm told "After a referee performance that will generate plenty of discussion, how do you think it reflects on the standards of officiating", without elaborating on *what* controversy there was, and no option to view replays of the supposed incidents. It's just another big flaw in how SI have poorly implemented media/press conferences.
  9. Along similar lines, when you have a player unhappy about not starting enough matches, I'd like an option like "I'll start you in the next game, but you need to impress me" rather than making a promise to give them continued playing time.
  10. I see the player asking for the contract is assigned to your second (II) team - I reported a bug after release with second team players demanding similar playing time statuses.
  11. Still one of my biggest gripes with FM: Vertical pitch stripes instead of horizontal In previous versions the pitch patterns could be edited but seemingly not anymore in FM22. 😒
