  1. I like Brazil but I'm going to tire very quickly if, every time they play, we have to cut to their good ex-players in the crowd grinning. All a bit Liverpool with Dalglish, Rush et al. at Anfield
  2. Marquinhos, Thiago Silva, Alisson is a pretty solid trio in the middle. Casemiro in front. Will be tough to breach. I don't think they've really been troubled yet by a team with a good attack. Switzerland are waste and Serbia one of the most consistently overhyped teams. Will be interesting to see against someone with a quality forward or two
  3. 'Makes no difference to Sommer' Think it made a pretty big difference tbh
  4. Musiala playing central after Sané came on was also important. Probably more than Füllkrug coming on. When you lack creative talent, it feels weird he was playing wide left for most of that game
  5. Let's be honest, Germany weren't that great and only started playing when they weren't getting the point they played for. Spain had made a bunch of subs, rhythm disrupted, and Füllkrug is a bit of a lump who gave them something else to deal with. Not a particularly good player either but when you've got no strikers...
  6. They would need to lose by about 5 or 6 goals, but yeh. What a draw does really is keep Spain interested in that final game. They have to play properly and probably with a decent strength team. That helps Germany.
  7. They lack quality really. It's a good job this isn't going to be a big defeat because I think they'd find it hard to chase goals against a lot of teams
  8. In the Euros it would be a table of the three teams only involving matches between them. So Japan would be on 3 points with 0 GD. Costa Rica 3 points with a 0 or worst GD (depending on how many Germany beats them by in your scenario). Germany would be on 3 points and 0 or better GD (depending on how many they beat Costa Rica by). So likely Germany would top the mini league because you'd envisage them beating Costa Rica by more than 1 goal and therefore winning the mini league on GD
  9. A massive defeat also likely eliminates them because they've then got to chase goals in their final game
  10. They've not got any central defenders, fullbacks or forwards (except Ansu Fati). A lot can change in four years but I think it's a bit much to say they're going to have this amazing generation in 2026 based on 3-4 players
  11. I think Germany have been pretty cautious so far. Playing like a team that would take a point but would also like to keep the score down if they lose. Raum has barely crossed halfway other than to occasionally press Carvajal.
  12. He should be in the middle though, not wide left. Pretty much zero threat in behind because there's no pace after Gnabry.
  13. Germany have a lot of gaps in their team that are hard to fill. Not much you can do as a coach if you've not got any good strikers, fullbacks or central defenders.
  14. Genuinely can't remember . Know it was one of England's final games just can't recall which one. Sterling penalty sounds a more likely trigger than a normal match that ends in a shootout
  15. Yeh Japan have ruined this really because you'd still expect Germany to beat Costa Rica and Spain to beat Japan. The only hope is that Spain put in another big score to put some jeopardy in the final matches. Germany having to chase GD, Japan parking the bus etc.
  16. Main event time. The chaff and warm-up acts are out of the way. Time for some big teams. Head to head Spain - 8 Germany - 9 Draws - 8 Most recent meeting 17 November 2020, Nations League Group A: Spain 6-0 Germany
  17. He's taking about Nations League, which is an important competition now that Croatia topped their group
  18. That's a great result for Germany. Can still qualify even if they lose. Will need help from Spain though
  19. It was a better shape tonight with MacAllister trying to replicate Lo Celso's role. I think they're better with Enzo Fernandez or Paredes in the team, but I think Paredes' fitness is an issue. Didn't play much for Juve going in due to injury. De Paul looks off the pace and needs to go
