  1. I set up scouting myself and have 20 scouts working on 60 different focuses. This results in absolute spam in my inbox, where almost every day I get the message "ongoing focus update" about one or more of these particular focuses. It feels completely unnecessary and I have not figured out how to limit the frequency or better yet: remove it. When I scout for players, I am ready to check for how the recruitment focuses are faring myself. Then I go into the scouting section and check manually. How do I remove this spam from my inbox without setting my chief scout to handle scouting?
  2. Just started my 2nd Liverpool save. What a huge difference your manager rep makes. As a «Sunday league footballer» I am struggling to keep up the pace for a top 4 spot - as a «global footballer» I am in complete control and only have 1 defeat as I reach the new year (away vs City). Something to keep in mind if you find this year´s Liverpool team a bit too easy to manage - set your rep to «Sunday league footballer» and the first season at least will be a real nailbiter. Another thing I am doing is trying to develop the many exciting youngsters in the squad. To that end, I went into the pre-game editor and gave every youngster with a random potential the max value of that interval. So if a player has -8 potential (130-160) then I set his PA to 160. This way, most of the talents are good enough to keep around in the first team as they mature. The likes of Beck, Bradley, Carvalho, and the gigantic Quansah are fun players to manage, as they all have the right attributes to fit into a traditional 4-3-3 Liverpool wingback system. Transfer wise I am only going to buy when an important first team player retires or decides to leave. The dream is to eventually replace Salah with Mbappe, but I`m not sure how much money you need to have in the bank to actually get him. In my save he has resigned with PSG and is on £800k a week. If anyone manage to buy Mbappe for LFC (before he turns 30) then please share about the process. I would like to buy a young tall targetman striker to develop, as Nunez/Jota/Gakpo are not able to fully capitalize on the crosses from our wingbacks. And with Doak developing into a world class traditional winger, there will be even more crosses coming in. I was thinking about Sesko from our feeder club Leipzig, but I don`t want to give him assurances about playing time ahead of Nunez. Ideally, the targetman striker should be 15-19 years old - anyone have a recommendation? Interestingly, Tottenham’s van de Ven got LFC as favorite club. I like a left-footed centreback with pace. I might go for him if van Dijk decides he wants to leave. But I do intend to keep van Dijk as my number one centreback for the next 5 seasons - just as he wants to be in real life. And finally, I might snatch Messi in season 2, if for no other reason than I`ve never managed him and I believe the shirt-sales boost will be astronomical. To have Messi tutor the likes of Gordon, Clark, and Carvalho could be what adjust their mentality to become important members of the Liverpool first team down the line.
  3. OP is spot on. But this will never change because SI needs to sell games and a big part of that is to allow the average gamer to buy any player they want. IRL only a handful clubs can afford to buy Mbappe, but in FM there is a loophole. I apply my own rules when playing, to make the game more challenging (AI is already bad enough at competing in the transfer market): every fee I pay is all upfront, with no sell-on clasuses. For outgoing transfers, I never sell a player for more than his current transfer value… and I try to get as much of it upfront as I can so that I can re-enter the transfer market. Easiest way to make the AI go along with this in negotiations is to remove innstallment payments and clauses, and make this non-negotiable. Try playing this way and see how much more enjoyment you get out of finding bargain signings and making big player sales, while at the same time not drowning the transfer market with your cash and thereby allowing the AI clubs to make good signings that you normally would have reserved for your own team.
  4. I can confirm this. Fining players for violent behaviour decreased their aggression trait, fining for poor performance increased their workrate. Dependant on whether the player accepted his fine. Derermination can go up/down dependant on the overall determination in the squad, but the most I`v seen is 1 value change. Usually it happens to very young players who comes into a squad with players that are nowhere near as good in terms of determination. Niklas Wassberg always had this happen to him in my games - he was around the Brann 1st team squad at age 17/18 and there was nothing you could do to stop his determination going down a notch.
  5. Just realized that Calvin Ramsay is rightback, from Scotland, and truly two-footed. Those 3 credentials are exactly the same as another guy who signed for Liverpool when he was 19 years old (and went on to have a 14 year career with the Reds). Staf9 won't know who I'm talking about, but some of you others might?
  6. I bet it has something to do with the attacking duties. By default the attacking duties make forward runs, More runs = more attempted through balls = more often lose ball = less possession.
  7. @Nick_CBjust curious if you play with your SC, AMR, and AML all on attack duty too? From looking at the games a bit more closely, it would seem that your team will try for the throughball alot more often (and lose possession) if your frontline keeps making runs beyond the opponents' backline. Salah for example, is getting the ball hoofed up to him nonstop - a considerable change from FM22. Edit: playing counter-attack seems to set my possesion to below 40% by default. Maybe this is a new design by SI. I like it. In FM22 you could play counter-attack and still dominate possession, which I found a tad bit unrealistic.
  8. I notice in my Liverpool game 1st season, my possession is usually in the 30% range when I play the default direct counter attack in a 4-3-3 DM Wide. I don't know if this has to do with the counter attack being used, or if it's down to something else. But I think it's quite odd that my possession stat is this low when I am outscoring the opposition and on top of the league. None of my players are on any overly ambitious personal instructions, they all play the default Central Midfield role, Fullback, Central Defender, etc.
  9. Already posted this on Nov 1st: "I like Harvey Elliot for the AMC position in a 4-2-3-1. We never really replaced Coutinho, who often filled that role. When you look at two of his PPMs - "comes deep to get ball" and "tries killer balls often" - those are intriguing traits for the AMC position. That's not to say he can't do a decent job as an inverted winger in the AMR position, but I feel he's too slow for a wide player in my direct counter-attack setup. I've had surprisingly decent performances from Curtis Jones in the AMC position, but I feel Elliot can take it one step further. " I guess you put me on ignore after I called you out for the criminal opening post?
  10. Half your shots are off target, hence why your assman is saying you are struggling to get enough shots in(side) the goalposts. Seems logical to me.
  11. Looks like you've been max lucky with Seimen's PA in your game. He is not far off Donna then indeed. As with any German talent in the game, he is a top professional. How his vision stat has gone up that much is a bit curious...
  12. What a drivel post 👌 But seriously, the assman is there to help you. He sees things from a different objective.
  13. Dont reveal his PA please. He is a good player, but not the longterm Thiago replacement. Look to Pedri instead.
  14. He is on £900K a week in my game. The next clubs who come close to offering that wage are Man U with £467K for Ronaldo, Real with £375K for Hazard. and City with £350K for De Bruyne... So I'm not sure Mbappe can be bought from PSG before he turns 30 on this version.
  15. With him being now by far the highest paid footballer, I would assume you would have to be able to somewhat match that wage in order to snatch him from PSG? And I am not talking about after he turns 30 and is on decline and maybe wants a new challenge. Is it possible to snatch prime Mbappe?
  16. Brann have 4 youngsters with the right mental attributes. They are: Aune Heggebø (a spirited target man) Niklas Jensen Wassberg (a driven mezzala) David Møller Wolfe (a classic 180 cm tall Norwegian leftback with no glaring weaknesses) Mikal Berg Kvinge (a fairly determined classic winger). Niklas Jensen Wassberg is probably my favourite out of the four. He becomes immense in the Norwegian leagues, and is doing quite well in the Champions League. The game lists him as right-footed, but in reality he is leftfooted. If you ever see this guy play IRL you will fall in love with him. Their PA are random, so you will have to be max lucky to get the best out of them. I wouldn't rule out that they could eventually be good enough as a rotation option for a low/midlevel PL team. If anyone bring these players in I would love to know how they get on. With Brann being at the 2nd tier of Norwegian football in the game, it should be easy to snatch these players for a low price.
  17. Yeah, a bit confusing this. These two attributes are the same as the shambles over at Man United! I took a look at all the PL clubs, and there doesn't seem to be a correlation between "environment" attribute and "state" attribute. For example, clubs like Arse and Spurs have "state of the art" environment and "average" state. While clubs like Wolves and Everton have "basic" environment and "very good" state. The only PL clubs who score above average for both these two attributes are Leicester, Crystal Palace, and Man City. I was wondering if "environment" could have any relation to the climate. If that's the case, then it doesn't make sense that Man City have a "high end" environment, while their neighbour Man United are two notches below at a "basic" environment. A quick glance at the training grounds of some of the other top clubs in Europe reveal no pattern. Would be nice if SI could clarify what training ground "environment" and "state" really means.
  18. But the content of your actual opening post... that's not driving you mental? This is nuts. You were in such a hurry to get bragging rights for creating this year's Liverpool thread that you misspelled the name.
  19. Nazdroid3000 are you on drugs? Counter-attack do indeed work and Thiago is key to that tactic with his long through balls. You do realize VVD prefers to be on the left in a two-man pairing at the back? Joe Hart might bring some joy, but better to have fun and games with David James (if that gamer is still playing). Good call on Suarez, he might be the perfect mentor for Darwin and give you more bite in the attack. Spearing is kicking about in the reserves too, if you need one last hurrah from him (better than Milner and much more modest wage). Where is Lucas Leiva?
  20. I like Harvey Elliot for the AMC position in a 4-2-3-1. I guess the new player I am most curious about in this version is Calvin Ramsay. When looking at his stats, I see one of the most technically gifted rightbacks for his age. I assume his potential ability is random, so it might be a bit hit and miss how he develops (and I must state, PLEASE DO NOT REVEAL/HINT ABOUT HIDDEN ATTRIBUTES LIKE POTENTIAL ABILITY in this thread, as there are some who prefer to play the game without knowing this info). His tackling is shockingly low, so he might need individual training for attribute. Whether Ramsay makes the grade depends on how much emphasis you as his manager put on defensive solidity. Much like his mentor, this seems to be a rightback who likes attacking more than he likes defending. Speaking of TAA, I'm tinkering with the idea of retraining him as a MR. Putting him in the MC is out of the question, due to his crossing ability. But as a MR I think he could really be devastating in a 4-4-2 with Salah and Nunez on top. If anyone have tried this then please let me know the amount of assist you got from him. One thing I find effective about Diogo Jota (who is lurking on this forum somewhere), is to make use of his unique heading ability as a winger. So for corners I put him on the far post, and for his position I always put im on the side of the wing where he's up against the fullback with the lowest jumping/heading stat. Then it's just a matter of having our own fullback cross to far post to find Jota, and chaos ensues. I see alot of people mentioning that they are selling Thiago due to his injury proneness. Personally I've never had a problem with Thiago being frequently injured in any version of FM. I just stick him on "light training", and in my training setup I set all players to "no training" if their conditioning drops below 70%. That way he's always getting rested after the games and I don't have to micromanage him. Thiago is the sort of Hollywood passer of the ball that every team needs. I can't tell you the amount of times he's unlocked the opposition defence with a brilliant throughball and helped secure the points for my Liverpool team. Try him as an advanced playmaker in the MC position in a 4-3-3 DM Wide, on a standard direct counter attacking team setup, and you might be surprised at how well he performs. It might make economic sense to cash in on him in the first season, but isn't winning with the Liverpool players that are currently in the squad what it's all about? To me it feels much more rewarding to win the Champions League in the first season with Thiago pulling the strings, as opposed to replacing him with someone like Nico Barella (something Klopp would never dream of doing). As painful as it is, this might be the last season where I keep Milner as a player at the club. It depends on whether I can get him to come down on his salary demands. So my strategy is to use him sporadically, and then at the end of the season call him to my computer screen and tell him that if he wants a new contract he must first accept reduced playing time (to make room for the youngsters). With a reduced role, he should accept a considerably lower wage. Then I might offer him the same player/coach role that Spearing is on. Starting this legend on his coaching badges is always the first thing I do when assessing my squad. I guess my longterm goal when managing Liverpool this season is to find the next Liverpool wonderkid and put him in my side. To that end, I am maximising the youth recruitment and checking what scouted newgens have "Liverpool" as home city. It's really a sad state of affairs when the best Liverpool born players at the moment (outside of the Liverpool squad) are Conor Coady and Ross Barkley. The next Steven Gerrard and Robbie Fowler will be produced on FM, given the size of the region.
  21. Congrats to Staf9 for creating the worst Liverpool thread in Sigames history. A few seasons ago you could find top quality Liverpool threads, where it listed the ins and outs of player personell for the new season, and analysing each team unit and what could be improved. But what does Staf9 do instead? He half-assedly copy and paste the club`s trophy history, and then spams a bunch of screenshots of the player profiles (without any introduction or thought to accompany the images). And a bit further down he engages in discussion about the real-life happenings of LFC (something we were always told by moderators on here was off topic and prohibited). You wonder why this forum has gone complete downhill from 4-5 years ago and this is exhibit a. Newsflash Staf9: just because the title says «Liverpool» does not mean it is going to be a popular thread. You have to make it popular on your own by writing something interesting and inspiring. How about telling us how to get the best out of Keita (still a fantastic player on FM) instead of just tipping us off about how much you can sell him for? I mean, most of us in this thread are actual Liverpool fans and want to play with the players currently employed by LFC in real life. With your +3000 posts you should know better.
  22. If I was a football manager I would walk barefoot out onto the dugout and show off my painted toenails (they are painted red in case you are wondering). I'd also want to show off my red mohawk (also painted red, like the good ol' Red Rooster). Standing within the manager's technical area, I'd also be strutting back and forth while bobbing my forehead (like a rooster), because once I start winning I feel like I'm the cock of the walk. It would please this armchair manager if at least one of these could be implemented for FM24. Cheerio.
