Haha, I'm not going anywhere yet
Just watch how the game goes, in a few games against them started on balance for 15 mins just to see how they were going to play and when I saw they were constantly attacking at us I went cautious and hit them on the break
Sounds like a good idea. Think I’m gonna go for a new formation in the 3rd season. Gonna try a 41221, use De Jong in the dmc as a DLPs then have Pogba and Bruno ahead see how that goes for my team

What's the best formation for the squad at the 2019 summer (winter patch) ? 442 ? 4231 ? 4411 ?
As Powello said you can use any formation but I’d suggest a 5-5-4 when you play liverpool

I finally beat Liverpool, did them 2-1 in the CL semi final 1st leg and then 2 minutes into the 2nd leg and Chiesa get sent off and I go on to lose 4-0 in the game and 5-2 on aggregate........I hate those Scouse gits.
They've cause me to crack and so I’m brining in De Jong in during the summer and then when if freed up some wages gonna get De Ligt as well.....next season they’re f****d

To be fair it’s not a fully formed tactic by any stretch of the imagination. I literally chucked it together at 4am this morning.
GKd
FBs CDd CDd FBs DMd
MZa DLPs
AFa AFa AFa
the only instructions I have are to play more direct and the 2 wide AFa’ are set to mark the FB on their side of the pitch.
I decided to give it a go as it allows me to play 3 out of Greenwood, Haaland, Martial and Rashford as strikers and means I can still play Pogba/Garner, Fernandez/Bellingham and McTominay/Florentino Luis all in the same team and then either a 4231 or 41221 to get Sancho/Chiesa into the squad as well

I’ve decided to try a narrow 4-1-2-3 as a 3rd tactic, not a bad start with a 7-0 mauling of Hull in the FA Cup, both Greenwood and Haaland grabbed hat tricks

Damn @stevemc what tactic are you using to get 54 goals in 54 games with Martinez?

Noticing some great young players that I'd like to buy, but they'll fail a Work Permit - are you guys still signing these types of players, and if so, what are you doing with them?
I seem to remember there used to be an option to ask your board for an affiliate club in order to send players out on loan to secure work permits - is that option not available anymore?
Not sure fella, I know what your on about but I’ve not seen it.
I have seen a cracking 17 year old in Argentina that I’m struggling to get a permit for but I’ve got enough cover that it’s not a huge loss if I can’t get him

@Powello don’t suppose you could post a SS of your tactic?
also whilst I’m doing a youth save with my team I’ve had to crack and brought in Haaland. Well I say I have, I saw that Liverpool offered for him (they’re currently top with a record of 20-1-0) and I just couldn’t let them have him, I didn’t have enough in the transfer kitty to get him so I asked the board and miraculously they said yes!
also I had a news item ‘rubbishing’ talk of the club being sold so that could happen before long as well

Sent Chong out on loan and he progressed well. Same with Garner. Play Williams regularly. (he got twice as many games as Shaw ) Mejbri and Gomes have about 10 appearances between them and are progressing well.
I didn’t use Chong except for a few games towards the end of the first season then sold him, I’ve got Rashford and Martial for the AML spot, brought in Chiesa and Sancho for the AMR spot and I’m using Fernandes, Gomes and Hejbri for the AMC spot.
I’ve also got Garner and Bellingham as my rotation LMC and then McToninay and Florentino Luis share the RMC spot.
Williams has bossed the LB position and since I want him to be my starter for the foreseeable future I don’t intend to sell Or replace Shaw.
The only position I could possibly buy for now would be Up top as I tend to have Martial or Rashford there and then the other on the left with Greenwood as the backup Striker, although I can’t imagine it’ll be long before that’s his spot and the other 2 are battling for the AML spot

Anyone else using many of the United youth players?
I only ask as I’ve just started my second season and I’ve got James Garner as my 2nd DLP begins Pogba and I’ve just noticed that he’s now classed as a wonder kid along with Williams and Greenwood.
i was just wondering if this is a regular thing with him or if he has a random PA

Anyone else finding Liverpool an absolute arse to beat this year? On my current United save I’ve played them 4 times and lost all 4, no matter how I set up they always seem to absolutely dominate

Does anyone have an actual working 4231 where the striker actually scores that I can use?
0 -
Guys anyone got any ideas on how I can increase my strikers output?
im doing ok lots of 1-0 wins but they don’t look to confident as we always give at least 2 decent chances away a game.
anyways my front 4 are:
IFa, AMs, Ws with AFa up top. I’ve then got an APs and BWMd behind them

Hey all,
I’ve started a new save with the winter update and I’ve settled on a 4231
GKd De Gea
FBa AWB
BPDc Lindelof
BPDs Maguire
WBs Shaw
APs Pogba
BWMd McTominay
IFa Rashford
AMs Fernandes
Ws Deulofeu
AFa Martial
Only a few games into the season and currently unbeaten but still unbeaten with a draw against Leicester being the only black spot on a clean sweep of wins
Other than Deulofeu I also brought in Bellingham from Birmingham and I’m after Florentino Luis when I get some players off of the books

Leicester city and Claudio Ranieri anyone?

To be fair that’s how football works and it’s been in the game as long as I can remember.
I had a fantastic save on FM12 with Cork City, got them to a point where we were getting to the group stages of the Champions league every season and raking in the money (well by Cork’s standards).
anyway during the save I managed to get an amazing regen that was released by a Czech club on a free transfer and upon signing his value went to around £2.6m, after a great season he ended up being valued at around £8m and had clubs interested in him so I set a transfer fee of £15m. Chelsea made an offer of £5m and the board sold him.
i wasn’t happy but £5m was by far the biggest transfer fee the club had ever received and it doubled the club finances.
End of the day the board will decide to sell if they think it’s the best thing for the club, the only issue I have with the system is that I’ve never seen it happen the other way round. I’ve never offered say £1m for a 15 year old that’s valued at like £90k and have the board of their club overriding the manager

Aren’t penalties also effected by some of the Hidden Attributes and personalities stuff as well like pressure and “big game player” type things?
0 -
Aren’t the players your looking at getting through the youth intake now pre set when you receive your mail item about what type of players you’ve got coming through a few months before the intake happens?

I don't know if it's OP'd because I never play that way, but I know a number of examples of people claiming it is OP'd. But if it works for you, who cares?
That is a very good point, once I can get The ST as my main goal threat then I’ll be happy I think, got 2 other tactics for stubborn defences and maintaining a lead so I’m getting to a point where I’m happy.
The tactic (as far as my tactical knowledge in game) is concerned is nearly how I want it, I’m gonna try with a winger on the right again as I like having the 2 flanks doing something different and see how it works out.

One thing you can do is give Sanchez a new contract.
sounds stupid but I did it halfway through the first season whilst he was still at Inter and dropped his wages from £400k a week to £215k a week, isn’t off the wage budget but it nearly £200k back into the budget.
Also I’m trying to create a 4-2-3-1 but not getting the success I would desire, basically want to retain possession and look for opening when possible but also have quick counters when I win the ball back but I don’t want to play a gegenpress
0 -
Well I’ve had 3/4 games of the tactic with the suggestions you made @Experienced Defender And one thing I’ve noticed is that I had to basically change to a gegenpress to get the team to look threatening. Had quite a few chances but nothing worth talking about with changing to the gegenpress style setting of maxed LoD and LoE, counter and counter press plus maxed pressing. I hope that isn’t a sign that gegenpress is massively OP’d

Oh ok then Neil, sorry if I’ve made anything more difficult by adding a different issue to this one

[FM20] Manchester United: Falling Giant...
in Good Player & Team Guide
Posted
I’ve had Bruno play well at times but then again I’m struggling to get to grips with the tactics and ME this year. Ended up using a downloaded tactic for most of the second season and it was odd.
started using on around December in game and my smallest victory for nearly 2 months was 3-0 (had a few 7-0 and 8-0 results) and then suddenly it fell off a cliff and I couldn’t score for games on end. Greenwood is on 33 goals and I’ve got 2 games left of the season but he had 27 by the end of January, dunno if it’s me but it feels like 1-1s have gone awful again but that could be Greenwood’s decision making and the wide players definitely have gone back to either shooting or just not crossing at all
