  1. Honestly, this is my big fear as well. A new engine, various other new stuff, its gonna have early struggles. Which would on itself by fine and understandable. But at this momen it twouldnt surprise me if we are going to get three years in a row of "sorry, FM23/24/25 wasnt what we had in mind, thats on us, we will do better next time. Still, buy it please even if we're taking the **** at this stage"
  2. New DLC for Europa universalis 4 is really fun Also, steam autumn sale just started
  3. Ill repeat the same thing. Ignore the player, ignore the club, ignore the league, ignore the performances, ignore the potential overpaying. its absolutly unhinged that the AI (juventus in this case) is asking him to make a loss on a player he has no intention of selling, or who isnt even close to the end of his contract. Transfer fees are openly communicated (most of the time). Juventus know what the OP paid for him. might be overspent, but nor the player, nor the club, would irl ever accept that the club gets actually worse of. Unless they are totally unhinged. In this case, what should have happened is juventus going" i want to buy a rightback for max 10m, this player fits my criteria. Oh, he was bought for more than 10m, is first team at his club and a long running contract. 10m wont do, I'll look somewhere else". But because of poor programming we get this infuriating stuff. If you want a non transfer listed player from the AI, you will have to pay more than his ingame value, no matter what your reputation is. The reverse should be true as well
  4. Ok lets take that real world example. Rangers last sale of the transfer window was Glen Kamara(28), who they bought for around 50k 5y prior and sold to Leeds for 5M. Now offcours, PL/championship money inflates this, but the original point stands. The AI asking you to break even on a player where you are not the asking party, is ludicrous. That has nothing to do with being in hungary, being able to see the potential or whatever. If this transfer would have gone through, Juventus and MTK would probably be investigated by their respective FA's (kinda ironic its juventus, giving irl events). And to people saying "you dont need to accept this offer", its borderline impossible to negotiate with the AI as they lock demands or blow up negotiations very fast
  5. I dont question your experience with long term club saves and how fastor slow a club or league's reputation should grow to stay both realistic yet enjoyable is a difficult balance of numbers. no argument there. For a moment ignore the league, ignore the player, ignore the value, etc... At the end, the AI asking him to make a loss on a player he hasnt put up for sale, has zero realism and serves no other purpose than to be an artificial difficulty barrier/poor design.
  6. From what I remember once on a test is that unloaded leagues and view only are basicly the same after a few years
  7. Well, since he's a regen, its pretty obvious he is unknown in real life.... we dont know if OP overpaid, because he hasnt disclosed what the game valued him at the moment of purchase. Porbably he has overpaid yes, as it its often the only way to do bussines with this AI. Even if he has overpaid, thats fairly irrelevant. OP isnt the asking party, Juventus is clearly interested to use him as an important player, the player is performing well on a high (although not elite atm) level, he has a fair amount of years left on his contract, is young and has very likely potential to grow into. The AI coming with an offer that just matches his valuation, is just insulting and immersion breaking. He is being asked to make a loss for no good reason Imagine a guy ringing your doorbell and going "hey bud, i see youve got a lovely house here, in a very nice neighbourhood and obviously set up for years to come. However, i think you overpaid, and I'll do you a favor by buying it from you for 2/3rds the price you paid for it"
  8. AI lowballing you constantly but expecting you to pay a kings ransom has been in the game for years and its a very valid point you make. My personal opinion is that they just throw it in as an artificial difficulty setting (its either that or admit reputation is completly s***ting over everything). The valuations might only be described as "indicative" and "shouldnt be taken at facevalue', but the AI surely does. yes playing in just hungary, but a regular CL knockout contender should have some weight. That you used the editor to know his PA is borderline irrelevant. The player has lost a third of his transfer fee when he obviously hasnt And the absurdity gets compounded even more when you list a player, he gets mad about the asking price and asks to lower it, and in the end you settle on a price thats higher. but hey, there is at least facepaint
  9. oh dont get me wrong, this in itself is a great feat and they should advertise it more (definitly more than the "licensed" J league), but in the end all parts have to work properly to have a functional and enjoyable product
  10. Im gonna be cynical and say what the point of faster processing speed if you give up after 8 seasons because the AI cant build a squad properly Also, why is the demo removed from steam....
  11. And if my grandmother had wheels, she'd be a bike..... Expecting something like interactions and AI squad building being fixed in two weeks when it hasnt been fixed after several years (despite saying they'd focus on it) is living in cloud cuckoo land
  12. Germany gets crazy tv money. France only has one big giant to overcome. If they have a bad season, you can easily bypass them. The hardest would be a league where various clubs have a big lead on the rest, and the overall level is poor. You could make a case for portugal with their big 3, but their B teams are so full of talent that loans get you easily qualified for europe. Probably scotland. Not the highest level of facilities, no crazy tv money like the prem yet registration rules apply. No amazing youth rating either
  13. Complacency/lack of competition is what causes this. Why bother pouring resources into fixing something that wont have a substantial increase in sales? At this stage its clear what is going to have the biggest potential for new customers: a new match engine in unity. Same happened with FIFA and career mode, and the same has happened with Total War. The latter has become a complete dumpster fire. All because of the mentality "well where else are they gonna go" press conferences are boring irl, I dont mind that. But you are a manager, you have to talk to your players. I dont understand whats going wrong with the coding either. In previous iterations, giving a fine for a bad performance worked 98% of the time. Yet talking to someone about their last performance (both are or should be tied to the same variable/rating), and they completly flip out....
  14. yeah a big part of the issue is that its not clear what is taken into consideration when you have these ludicrous responses from players or squad My estimated guess is that again reputation is a big problem factor here, it either being your personal reputation when dealing with player related issues, or the club reputation when dealing with squad. You became champions 3 times in a row as a midtable team, but saying that you aim for a top 3 next year and the whole dressing room flips out....
  15. wel if I was an ass I could say that by giving feedback on the feedback of the beta is also a form of feedback on the beta itself, but fair enough
  16. I hear you. I'm also not the biggest on dissecting tactics to the bone, but I get my enjoyment from the world and story I create. I played fm23 a lot less than previous iterations, and it had 3 main reasons. a) AI not being good at squadbuilding, meaning the challenge goes out of long terms saves. Compounded this with the issue that i find selling players borderline impossible, no matter how good you do, all because the AI values reputation way too much b) player, board and supporter interaction being utter garbage and worse every year. c) Match engine being wonky yet ultimately predictable. After the winter update it was more "woodwork simulator 23" than football manager. Also the amount of goals I conceded in the same pattern (goalie doesnt follow distribution instruction, plays it to the wrong player who immediately loses it, goal condeded) was really immersion breaking Apparently a and b would have been adressed, but turns out they werent (unless you count in Saudi easy fix), and the jury is still out on c.... Seems I dodged a bullet so far.
  17. so to make optimal use of a feature is not to use it? Sounds like an excuse to not improve the player interactions, despite what they promised to do....
  18. but they have been improved, they specificly said so! Honestly at this point i just might revert back to FM21.
  19. thats my gripe with it as well. Its extremely immersion breaking, and it also has an ingame knockon effect. Tell a player he played badly (which the game tells you aka the rating) and the response is ludicrous in way too many instances. Player unhappy etc. Now do that to a few players... And its not just that. The "explore other options" is equally frustrating to deal with as well. No player would tell his boss in the middle of their busiest month (usually february), while they are looking to have their best raking ever, that he wants out. At the end of the season? sure, but now, two days before we could go 6 points clear? srsly dude? The alternative is just not talking to your players, which I honestly mostly did. I used the fines to let them know when they played poorly. Did I enjoy it? No, but it was a lot less hassle than dealing with bad code. And I hate it. The best FM stories are with players that made a difference for you and you remember. But 90% of the time I ignore them or tiptoe around them like freaking minesweeper... I might seem a bit overreactive, but honestly I player FM23 a lot less than previous editionsand this was definitly in the top3 of factors. If there is no change, despite it being advertised, then why bother at this point. Better wait a year and hope Unity fixes it As for press conferences, I can live with it that they are boring and pointless, as they usually are irl.
  20. Didnt they said they'd addres player talks/interaction? In FM23 this is a major immersion breaker. I didnt bother with most player talks and just fined them for bad performances, as at least they didnt go apeshit. Now with fining removed and player talks still poo apparently, no point in getting FM24. What else did they "supposudly " fixed?
  21. Like the description says, it requires a decent amount of goals from setpieces. Which, as you feared, means micromanaging the setpiecs. Default ones are garbage.
  22. Unfortunately fining is the only consistent way in the game to warn players about bad performances. Player talks are so terrible and illogical that I avoid them as much as possible and regulary savescum them (like team talks) I understand and agree hat they shouldnt be in the game if they are considered illegal, but it just highlights the need for a big overhaul of player interaction. If i had a nickel for every player with a 6.2 performance that said "i played brilliant, go see an optician".... Its not the main reason that i wont buy fm24 but it definitly factors in
  23. Juventus squad and wage bill was like 50% higher of the next team, Teams like Milan, Inter etc were losing their best players (thiago silva, ibra, etc) and replaced them badly. Even in that dominant spell, they usually ended on around 87-90 points, with only a few exceptions. So if every season is a 100+ point finish from Inter, i feel the complaint is valid
  24. Im very biased towards clubgrown players.... For mentality, im usually switching between balanced and attacking (as positive gives me shorter passing. I find this leads to a lot of possession but not a lot of danger)
