The Special One Formation - Jose Mourinho Has Nothing On Me 38 Played 29 Won 9 Drawn

Right, been using this tactic, just hitted january, it's one amazing tactic, only downside is you score way to little, to much 1-0 /2-0 ..but the defence is incredible, only conceded 2 goals in 18 matches,

Brilliant brilliant screenshots coming soon.

Suits Veloso Palombo Gattuso Flamini Ambrosini and Kaka so so well Saivet a Ronaldinho wide. Borriello or Pato striker.

Defence is amazing. Just beat Reggina 5-0 after several 1-0s or 2-0s, at the end of the day a wins a win and a comfortable win in terms of posession I'm more than happy with.

Hi megafan,

Thank you so much for your tactic, it's incredible! I've been using it for my AC Milan team, winning Serie A and Coppa Italia in 1st season. Before the 2nd season started, I made some tweaks to your tactic. I've made two versions of your original tactic, one for fast TM (Pato type TM) and the other for strong TM (Borriello type TM). In both of the tweaked tactics, the most significant change that I've made is giving the left sided MC (the MCa) a farrow, and the result has been immense. Now my team can score more goals with the tweaked tactic, as the MCa often moves forward to the opposition's box and scores headers (of course the MCa should be fairly good in the air too). Another important change I've made is setting the team's targetman supply to 'feet', enabling my fast/strong TM to score more goals.

Results with the tweaked tactics so far:

Results.jpg

The changes I've made don't have any impact on the tactic's superiority in terms of ball possession (I still manage to have a 55%-60% ball possession in all matches).

Other changes that I've made:

- corner settings (defending and attacking)

- D-line (lowering the D-line a few notches)

Once again, thanks for the great tactic megafan!

P.S.: I hope I post the image correctly & the image appears here.

hmm ..doesent Mourinho tend to play with 2 strikers up front these days ? *hint hint!* ..or am i wrong oO

Well needs must irl since his wingers Mancini and Quaresma are terrible but his preffered formation is a 451 433 :)

Glad people are having success and i do think it requires a good team though.

Yes the FC should be targetman btw :)

@calanor & dempsleyslob

Sorry I just replied, I'll try to post the tweaked tactics today.

@dempsleyslob

Since I use rotation system for my strikers (I have a total of 3 strikers), none of my strikers is a top scorer for my club. But I'm more confident of my strikers' ability to score now with the tweaked tactics. In the first season (using the original tactic), none of my strikers scored more than 5 goals. I believe that changing the targetman supply to 'to feet' has improved my strikers' scoring ability quite significantly..

Here's my tweaked tactics:

Jose Mourinho Fast TM

Jose Mourinho Strong TM

http://www.mediafire.com/?hwyuyonoijj

Please give those tactics a shot and tell us what u think.. :)

For these tactics to work (based on my experience using them):

- you need a fast & creative striker (pace, acceleration, dribbling, finishing, off the ball, creativity, decisions), or a strong targetman (strength, passing, off the ball, finishing, heading, jumping)

- the MCa (with farrow) needs to be good in off the ball movement and has decent heading, as he often moves forward and scores a header right in front of the opposition's goalmouth (you need to have wingers/fullbacks with decent crossing too for this to work)..

Here's a screenshot of how my striker (borriello) is doing with the tweaked tactic (strong TM version):

MarcoBorriello.jpg

As you can see, in the 2008-2009 season (1st season), borriello only scored 2 goals in total 12 matches he played in, and I was seriously considering to sell him at the end of the season. But with the tweaked tactic, he has managed to score 5 goals in only 6 games. So I believe the tweaked tactic is definitely working for him.. :)

Main post updated many thanks danny

Thanks Megafan! :)

Now I'd like to share my second variant of the jose mourinho tactic.. The difference between the first and second variant is the DC settings. In the second version, I use the sweeper-stopper combination as suggested by SFraser (credit to SFraser for his great tip in setting tight defence). The reason behind the tweaking of the DC settings is that with the first version, I concede ridiculous goals from DC or GK errors quite often. Usually the opposition MC/winger hoofs the ball over my defence, and their pacey striker finds ample space between my defenders and GK (due to the high DLine setting). In that situation, my GK (hugo lloris, with decent one-on-one and rushing out attributes) usually leaves his goal to try to close down and limit the space of the opposition striker, but instead he loses control of the ball and the opposition striker coolly puts the ball into an empty net. Sometimes my GK chases the opposition ST far outside my penalty box, leaving his area empty and making it easier for the ST to score.

With the sweeper-stopper system in the second version, the stopper has higher closing down setting (first notch of 'whole pitch') and is on Normal tackling. His main duty is to quickly close down the opposition ST/MC when they launch a quick counter attack. The other DC, the sweeper, has lower closing down setting (last notch of 'Own Area') and is on Easy tackling. His job is to clear any through ball that goes past my stopper or DMC. With this defence setting, so far I've never conceded any stupid goals from my GK/DC errors again.

Here's a screenshot of my team's defence after I use the sweeper-stopper system:

DefencePerformance.jpg

In the same period the previous season, my team already conceded around 15 to 16 goals, so I guess the new DC settings work quite well for me so far.

And here's the second version of the tweaked jose mourinho tactics:

wat should i do if my tm have balanced abilities

like lewandowski or willians santana or walter(internacional) or fedarico laurito

i should use fast tm or strong tm?

Willians Santana - use the fast TM version, as he is pacey, good at dribbling, and has decent creativity and off the ball attributes.

Lewandowski - he's not quite pacey although he can dribble quite well. But he has decent aerial ability and strength, so I'll go for the strong TM version for him

Laurito - this is a bit tricky. He can dribble, good in the air, quite pacey and strong too. I guess you should try both tactics and see which one works best for him..

ok thx for reply

i ll wait a version of balanced tm :)

and wat we can do we have wonderkid(or skillfull like messi cronaldo) wingers(in my game daniel aquino wonderkid and marquinhos god like player)

for messi and cronaldo, just play them in the winger position in both fast and strong TM versions, that's where they belong.. :D

For marquinhos, he is a versatile player. He can play both as a striker or right/left winger. If you plan to play him as a targetman, be sure to use the fast TM version for him, that version works best for him (i know this because I signed marquinhos this season, he's fantastic)..

Will work on it again

Your original tactic works pretty well within the EPL. I ran it for a season with B'ham City (2017 and a good squad) and conceded only 20 in the season. Didnt score a barrowload (81 only) but was consistant and defensively sound.

I've taken what you've done and tried to convert to a 4-4-2 using the same pattern, team settings and individual settings. Great formation though megafan, kudos.

Good to know bud thanks :) however I wanted a more specialised tactic for the EPL but im now working with a completly different idea

This has been a great tactic for me over the past two seasons as Man City.

I finished third in my first season (man utd went on a 30+ unbeaten run), lost a few games but not many at all. Won the UEFA cup and generally did quite well in the domestic cups but did not quite make it to the final in any. Naturally as any Man City player, a whole host of players came in the first season, vagner, zhirkov, srna, santon, hamsik, veloso, palombo etc.

Second season I won the Premier League, 3 points clear of Arsenal, drew about 5-6 games and remained unbeaten throughout the season. Some close shaves but haven't lost in over 40 games now in the Prem. Won the FA cup, got to the semi final in the champions league, lost to AC milan 1-4 away and only beat them 2-0 at home. Lost in the carling cup quarter final vs. Newcastle away, that being the only low point in a very very good season. Got Fazio/Thiago Silva/ Van der vaart and Hulk for the start of the second season, everyone has performed great except Hulk.

Time now to find a new tactic but this one has served me well for two seasons!
