The Gulls Bring in the Young Gun

Torquay have appointed a new manager in the young Rob White. After a succesful season last season in winning the LDV Vans trophy and missing the the promotion by losing in the playoffs to chesterfield it came as a suprising shock to the gulls fans.

Chairman Bateson, addressed the clubs supporters and fans saying that he felt the need of a fresh new approach and told the fans to think of this as a decision of the future.

Joyful White was delighted at being appointed at such a well supported club, and couldnt wait to get into his first managerial job. "This is a great challenge for me and i can only relish it, as you could say im the new kid on the block" says White.

Rob White didnt hesitate to get right down to business as he looked at his weak squad and decided to go round bargain hunting and looking for some quality players that would help the club reach that next level to get themselves promoted and closer to the big boys.

The pre-season went very well in a gd prospestive as the 1st few games didnt take part when Rob White was under control. after a couple of wins away against 2 unknown clubs, that was then followed by a 2-1 loss at Bristol City then to bounce back and beat Exeter 3-1 then Port Talbot Town 2-0.

Rob White was very happy with the start they had made and decided to keep the team as it is, but he couldnt resist on snatching up a few bargains:

| 7.8.2006 | Peters, Mark | Free Transfer | Free |

| ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------|

| 9.8.2006 | Onibuje, Fola | Preston | £20K

"4 good youngs players" White announced, and he gave 1 of his youngsters a place in the starting line up.

Torquay vs Cheltenham

The 1st game in charge for Rob White turned out to be a shaky one. It started great as an early goal from by Torquay settled the nerves of the manager and probably the fans. After the goal Cheltenham laid out the charge and chance after chance went begging for them, but just as cheltenham were gettin into the stride of things Serge Makofo pulls one out of the bag to give torquay the 2-0 lead. This goal gave Torquay the cushion they wanted but cheltenham were detirmined to get back into this but the poor finishing prevented this from happening, and the match finished 2-0 to Torquay's delight.

Rob White was extremly please with the result, but was downwards to his defence. " The defence was very shaky and un-organised, this may have been due to the younger, less experienced players playing but we will be working on the defense in training."

The next day Rob White was quick off the mark to get his defense up to scratch and bought in another 4 players but this time all defenders.

League Cup 1st Round

Burton ALbion vs Torquay

This match turned out to be a frantic end-to-end match with poor finishing by both teams. Ater 90mins the score was 1-1 with both sides working for the winner but no-one could provide us with it. Then into extra-time this was very tense as both teams were still atacking but the tiredness was starting to kick in, after half hour of extra time there was still no winner which obviously meant it went into penalties. After 10 penalties from each team, the Goalkeeping Heroics from both teams decided the match as Torquays goalkeeper took the deciding penalty which he sadly missed as Torquay went crashing out of the League Cup.

Rob White was still pleased even though his team had just crashed out of the League Cup. "Im particularly pleased with the defending but a bit disappointed with the finishing this time around but im not going to be petty every match we play, ive only just arrived and i'm giving these players the time to adjust to me training and tactics and have to credit the players for giving me there 100% effort and dedication."

Oldham vs Torquay

After the midweek onslaught of a game, players were still reeling from such a tiring match but it was a shock to all as they ran out 4-1 winners, they went racing from the go, as clinical finishing from the young strikers up front proved the high score was flattering to Torquay.

stevenage.JPG?The Stevenage Planet

Well here the season begins, every team is gonna be tough to beat especially the likes of Norwich and Man City who have got some exceptional talent in their squad. Leeds have been tipped as favourites followed by an army of teams including Man City, Forest and lots of others icon_smile.gif

Stevenage vs Nottingham Forest

So here we are, division 1 footie, who would of thought that would happen so quick. Anyway, no time to dream about where we got to so far. Our first game is against one of the favourites for promotion, we are playing infront of the home fans but Forest certainly dont lack quality. Well, we seem to have left off where we was last season, hot on trail. The first half went without much of a problem, we kept Forest back and took our chances and deserved our goal advantage. The second have Forest tried to be more attacking but eventually it cost them as Ebanks-Blake scored the second to round this up from the first half strike that Poole made.

Stevenage 2 : 0 N.Forest

Stevenage vs Carlisle (League Cup 1st Round)

Its league cup time! Well as per tradition, up come the reserves out of the wood work. They easily dominated play through out the 90minutes but low and behold, they couldnt score in 26 shots on goal, compared to their opponents who had 1. So Extra time came upon us when Carlise get their 2nd shot on goal, its a 45 yard shot which of course to CM tradition, goes in. Unbelievable, 2 shots and 1 goes in from 45 yards, with 3 minutes to though, a free kick from Porarinson levels things to go to pen. Everyone scored their pens but the 2 strikers who you would think should score with ease, so the reserves outplayed their opponents but a superman goalie stops them and gets his man of the match, the reserves just gotta do better next time or they wont play much this season.

Stevenage 1 : 1 Carlisle (Carlisle go through on pens)

Cardiff vs Stevenage

Once more, another side thats wanting promotion from this league, packed full of pacey players and also very talented too. They took the lead after about 20minutes of play and fully deserved it, they had been all over us and we're quite lucky it was only 1. The first half ended and we're of course losing, probably expected by most. Anyhow, having noticed something in the first 3 matches so far, I fully predict the tactic i had been using has been cracked by the AI, so into place comes the new one. Still only in testing it just had to be brought out onto the scene....within in minutes of the second half, its a goal, we equaliser, it gets even better as we go into the lead not long after that, 2-1 it stands, 15minutes from time we pull out that two goal advantage, so far so great until......stupid bloody midfielder tried to time waste in his own half, of course, he gets punished for it, Earnshaw steals it off him to set up Alan Lee for his second. But, that was the only **** play from us in the second half as minutes from time we seal the deal with a stunning free kick from new signing Carl Lewis to go along withthe goals scored by Huckerby and Poole's double.

Cardiff 2 : 4 Stevenage

A very good early start for us, it wasnt as easy as before but that just adds to the challenge we set ourselfs in this new league. The new tactic so far has delivered, if it continues then we will easily overcome this relegation battle that has been set. But for the moment, we will enjoy your 100% winning streak we have in the league and hope there is more to come icon_smile.gif

The blue half of merseyside

Well a hectic pre-season at Goodison is finally over and the squad is in a half decent state for the challenge of avoiding relagation to keep the board happy, However if thats our final position I will be very very dissapointed. I was doing a Harry Redknapp in the transfer market wheeling and dealing my way through the free transfer market as my total transfer budget was only £1.2million , trying to offload some of my overpaid underplayed players was my priority , but this was proving difficult due to there high wages.

Top on my agenda was to add another top draw striker to play along side rooney , and a couple a better squad forwards as 4-3-3 is looking my likely starting formation. Also needed is a centre half to play alongside Yobo as I'm not convinced peter clarke can do the job all season against world class opposition . A new left and right back are also urgently needed as these were my weak points in my few games in charge towards the end of last season.

Well after managing to raise some spending money by offloading Linderoth to Spurs it was great to welcome a striker to the club who should add to rooneys game and take the goalscoring burden off his shoulders , Mido who should have been a West Ham players if they had the money could have joined a bigger club then Everton , but after giving him the old blag and showing him championship winning tapes from the 80s and the fact mad man ferguson is no longer around was enough to convince him to take the challenge on offer at Goodison. I'm also hoping that Marcelo Salas can play a big part as a squad player and chip in and that Nicky Butt can end his carear on a high by playing that important DMC role.

My expectations for the season??..........Well we will see how we get on , but if we can keep it tight at the back I believe our strike force can match anyone elses in the division. Mid table and a uefa spot would be a over achieved season but one which is achieveable if we stay injury free and get the rub of the green. One thing is for sure if I'm fighting relagation at the end of the season it will prove all the critics right and have all the QPR fans laughing who said I was mad to leave , esp as they secured a uefa cup spot for this season.

Also I'd like to welcome our new players into EFB and wish both well in there new challenges.

The Champions League Welcomes the Hammers 06-07

West Ham enjoyed an unbeaten run in their preseason friendlies and the day of the new season finally arrived and the fans were jkeen to see how the new signings would gel and whether an improvement could be made on last years runners up spots in Europe and in the league?? icon14.gif

19th August 2006 – Vs Fulham (A)

The opening fixture swaw west Ham in a London Derby against the squatters of Loftus Road, Fulham. Robinho set the hearts of the West Ham faithful a flutter with two goals to set the Hammers up for an opening day win, Fulham however, had plans for points and 2 goals within a minute at the back end of the game from Borgetti, was enough to get a share of the spoils. icon_frown.gif

Result - Fulham 2 West Ham 2

Borgetti 82, 83 Robinho 20,60

Att – 20472

23rd August 2006 – Vs West Bromwich Albion (H)

The Baggies visit to Upton Park saw one of the dullest games in the premiership for a long time! Paul Rouch even offered to give the fans their money back at the end of the game. A no score bore draw the result. icon13.gif

Result - West Ham 0 WBA 0

Att – 28106

26th August 2006 – Vs Wolverhampton Wanderers (A)

The fixture list seems to throw up back to back midland opposition every season icon_confused.gif, and this one is no exception. West Ham travel to the home of the Golden Tit still looking for their first win of the season. An uncharacteristically nervous West Ham fight out a tight first half and go in with neither side having managed to breach the others defence. The second half gave Wolves a golden opportunity to take the lead with a spot kick. West Ham old boy obviously felt some last vestiges of loyalty to the claret and blue as he obligingly failed to convert the penalty. This seemed to fire the hammers up and Kim Kallstrom got his debut goal for West Ham and that was all that was required to take all three points and give West Ham thrie first win of the season. icon_biggrin.gificon_cool.gif

Result - Wolves 0 West Ham 1

Kallstrom 70

A shock announcment just after pre season by the Man City Board shocked fans and critics alike, 2 weeks into the new season they announced that Darren Gray would be taking up the helm at the City of Manchester stadium.

Gray promised the fans he would bring attractive football to the club and said that he looks forward to taking the club back to the premiership where they belong. He has said the board will back him where ever possible in the search to take the club back to the top.

Now that the season has getten underway, Gray and the board, seem to be true to there word bringing in the likes of Andreas Isaksson for 2.9m and the unlikly capture of Paolo Montero from italian giants, Juventus.

The team have also been excelling in the league with Gray only picking up one defeat in the league this season at the hands of Notts Forrest. The football has been sexy and since Basturk's appointment as captian he has lead by example and showed his team exactly where the net is. Gray cannot hide his delight at how the turk is playing and his issued a "hands off warning" to any club who thinks they can steel his jewel in his crown.

The Champions League Welcomes the Hammers 06-07

2nd September 2006 – Vs Aston Villa (H)

Did I mention the strange fixation the fixtures list has with lining midland opponents up all in a row? I did? Sorry. The Villans were next up at Upton Park, and West Ham were beginning to find their form. This was further evidenced by some superb football that saw Simonetta grab a brace and Kallstrom the third to give the hammers a commanding first half lead. The second half brought Kallstroms second goal and a solitary response from Vassell. A very convincing performance from Paul Rouch’s Claret & Blue Army icon_biggrin.gificon_cool.gif

Result - West Ham 4 Aston Villa 1

Simonetta 32, 41 Vassell 48

Well, another Midlands team, 4 in a row icon_eek.gif The blues are the next victim to West Ham’s improving form. Oliseh, Simonetta nad Kallstrom give the Brum boys a footballing lesson in their own back yard as West Ham romp home to an easy win at a canter. icon_biggrin.gificon14.gif

20th September 2006 – Vs Celtic (A) Champions League Group Stage

West Ham’s debut in the top competition produced a dream fixture that was dubbed the battle of Britain. West Ham travelled to Celtic Park and a very even and tight game was played and a Henrik Larsson goal just before half time was all that separated the teams at full time. icon_mad.gif

Result - Celtic 1 West Ham 0

Larsson 42

Att - 52531

23rd September 2006 – Vs Tottenham (H)

After the disappointment of the Champions League loss against Celtic, West Ham had their fierce North London rivals at the Boleyn, and another tight game, but West Ham emerging victorious after the improving Simonetta converted a penalty to grab the only goal of the game icon_cool.gif

Result - West Ham 1 Spurs 0

Hull_2.JPG?

Tiger Times

What a start to the league campaign for the tigers of Hull City. After eight games of what is turning out to be a remarkable season so far Hull City find themselves lying in second sport, five points behind Newcastle. Here is a run down of how the games have went so far for Hull....

Hull City v Wolves - (H) - 2-0

A nice easy opening game for Hull saw them at home to Wolves. Hull started off like an express train and this start was rewarded with their first ever Premiership goal through Stuart Elliot. Hull seemed to gain in confidence with this goal and went on to seal the match in the second half with a goal from Danny Allsopp. Hull's first ever Premiership points. icon_cool.gif

Birmingham v Hull City - (A) - 3-1

Hull's first game in the Premiership and they came away handsome winners. Hepburn was beginning to think this Premiership malarky was easy!!! Two goals int he first twenty minutes saw race into a 2-0 lead even before Birmingham were allowed into the game. the goals from Danny Allsopp after nine minutes and the new signing Freddy Guarin grabbed his first goal for his new club. In the first minute of the second half Jobi McAnuff scored his first of the season to effectively seal the game for Hull. Birmingham scored a consolation through Mathew Sadler but it was enough as Hull continued to dominate the game.

Hull v Arsenal - (H) - 2-0

This was going to be a great occasion as Hull welcomed the might of former Premiership champions Arsenal to The Circle a la Henry and Vieria. It was a tough game but Hull dug in and gritted out a special 2-0 victory. It was an even game and Hull seemed to match Arsenal in every department. Two second half goals sealed the victory, one from Damien Delaney from a corner and the second came from the penalty spot via Freddy Guarin who is getting to like scoring goals for Hull.

Everton v Hull - (A) - 4-0

It was time for the first big showdown of the season against mark Brown's Everton. A lot has happened at both clubs during the summer and this was going to be one hell of a game. You could call this game a game of missed chances especially from an Everton point of view. Richie Partridge gave Hull the lead and they then grew in confidence. They went further ahead through Paulinho and then Danny Allsopp killed the game as a contest with Hull's third. It was then the job of Stuart Elliot to rub salt into Everton's wounds by scoring a fourth.

Hull v Newcastle - (H) - 2-2

With the start of the season Hull have had they found themselves top of the league. It was time to welcome Newcastle in second place for a top of the table clash. Newcastle showed their championship credentials as they were hiting shots for everywhere in the Hull half. Hull went ahead however in twelve minutes through Danny Allsopp but Newcastle came right back at them and equalised on the half hour through Miroslav Klose. Hull then went ahead again through Danny Allsopp to give them a half time lead. Hull failed to build on that lead in the second half and Newcastle took advantage and equalised in the sixy fifth minute through Craig Bellamy. Neither side could gain the advantage and the draw seemed a fair result.

Middlesbrough v Hull - (A) - 1-2

Disaster for Hull in this game as they suffered their first league defeat at the hands of Middlesbrough. It looked a lacklustre performance from and their manager who seemed to be a million miles away or maybe his thoughts were in the Nou Camp for the Barca v Celtic game. icon_wink.gif It was a dreadful first half performance from Hull that saw Boro race into a 2-0 lead only for Hull to come out fighting in the second half and put Boro to the sword in search of two goals for the draw. Well they got one back through Freddy Guarin but it was enough although through not fault of their own. Boro keeper dealt with everything Hull threw at him to keep Boro in front.

Hull v Blackburn - (H) - 2-0

After their first defeat at Boro Hepburn was looking for Hull to get back on track and produce a big performance. That is what he got from his players at they were in irresitable form and took Blackburn apart. Stuart Elliot grabbed both goals for Hull but it could have been more but for some woeful shooting and good goalkeeping. Hull fans definitely went home with smiles on their faces.

Chelsea v Hull - (A) - 1-1

Having met Chelsea in last season's FA Cup Hepburn knew they were in for a tough tough afternoon at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have so much class and money it is hard for even the best sides in Europe nevermind Hull City to take points off Chelsea. As thought Chelsea went out all guns blazing and had Hull on the rack for long periods in the first half and duly scored in seventeen minutes through Cisse. To they're credit Hull fought back in the second half and produced an equaliser in fifty minutes through Stuart Elliot who is really creating a reputation of himself as a top top player in the Premiership. Both sides pressed although most of Chelsea's efforts came from long range and Hull did create clear cut chances but they could not find away past Marcos in the Chelsea goal.

UEFA Cup - Round Up

Hull City's first venture into Europe in years if not at all saw them drawn against GKS Katowice. In the first leg Hull were in Poland so it was time to get out the thermals. Fecking Celtic get sombereros and I get thermals!!!!!! Anyway onto the game and for Hull's first game in Europe it was a great performance. Two goals from Freddy Guarin and a third from Stuart Elliot gave Hull an emphatic win.

Man City continue there form over the next few games to run out with another 4 staight wins. This also included a 2-1 closly fought win over fellow rivals, Stevenage Bourgh.

Following these wins they have now been able to put a six point diffrence between themselves and fellow promotion chasers, Norwich.

Man City manager, Darren Gray, went on to add that though he was delighted with the gap that was opening up he stessed that his team can not afford to be complacent. A couple of losses and the league is wide open.

stevenage.JPG? Stevenage Planet!

Welcome once again, the new season got underway and the action packed games got underway. We're a team that dont posses the class thats needed to challenge for the championship but with our fighting spirit we should certainly be able to hold our own and get a safe mid table position to secure the future for the club in this division and in latter years have build up a small financial fortune to eventually push for a place in the league of the elite.

However, for now we will battle it out in division 1, promotion is definately not on the cards at this present moment of time as from the early games in the season that we played, we've just not got the class of players that are capable to mount a serious promotion bid and will be much better off aiming to gain league safety and a respectable league position. With the lack of funds and impossible to get loans in the struggle continues. Anyway here's how our results went in the first quarter of the new season.

Well lets take a small insight into the games, we start at Forest on the opening day, dream stuff, victory on the first day and it looks liked we would enjoy a decent season once again although i think forest players were just getting used to each other where we literally had no newcomers into our squad.

The league cup saw us exit via the penalty shoot out, the reserves played so it didnt really matter too much to me but it would of been nice to have some sort of run it it.

Back to the league, Cardiff were a good team despite us out scoring them, 1 stupid error by my mid let to one of the goals but they wouldnt stop attacking and we were lucky to hold out at 4-2.

The next two game were an outrage and the typical CM match, you outplay a team completely and your strikers miss the easiest chances in the world, to have this two matches in a row is very frustrating, especially when the opposition gets the goal through their one shot and only shot on target and a stupid defensive error. Not a very happy bunny i must say, really annoyed me!

So i chewed a big chunk out of my carrot and suddenly we thrashed Brighton, once again we defended crap for some reason and it lead to their consolation goal but we should of have double the amount we did score.

A very close win over Palace with more frantic defending, god it was awful, my keeper acting like a clown too lead to one of the goals, now i tried changing things defensively cos upfront we seem to be ok at the moment despite us taking hundreds of chances to score, so the palace win was followed by beating Sheff utd and Bolton, great wins imo and I expected more of a fight from them too.

Big game vs Norwich was up next, at Carrow road too, anything but defeat will be acceptable against the high calibre Canaries. well the scoreline says it all, it was a very close game that even could of ended in a score draw, both teams had good chances and i'm happy with the away draw, more than Wayne probably icon_smile.gif

Sunderland next, i expected to win.......but no we get bloody screwed once more, couldnt believe it, strikers just didnt seem to know what a goal is, chances were created and kept being squandered left right and centre, frustrating and then peed me off even more when Sunderland get their first shot and score through Arca, followed up with their 2nd shot of the game and another goal.....Fuming i was, couldnt believe it.

Thank god, we followed it up with a win, a new change in tactics, we really need to get stronger at the back so we've gone for 5 at the back and its working, a clean sheet and they never troubled us at all.

But just around the corner it came to haunt us once again, bloody CM plays twiddle dumb and we take the lead and then seem to miss even the stand behind the goal when Watford with their first shot score, typical just typical.

Another massive game next, super star Man City managed by Daz, I was expecting defeat, with a squad that got cash, can offer players what we have in our yearly wage cap for their weeks wage named this contest a none runner for us. In true fashion, City took the lead, Basturk just unstoppable, so it was time to test some stuff out in tactics. City then went 2-0 up but they really had our strikers to thank them, some brilliant chances and to put it lightly, they were ****ing ****e. Eventually having changed tactics, we caught City against the run of play and netted one, it ended with a close finish too with Montero having to go off early to do some shopping for his missus icon_biggrin.gif

Well, changes had to be made. Our strikers are bloody crap, we need someone who can finish the job on the first time of asking, finally! Yes finally, a loan player says yes, and like buses, four came along at once, AMAZING!

So in comes the ukrain nicknamed Perep from Southampton, Jay Lucas for his cover. Then Sam Agor from Arsenal, he's been banging them for the reserves like a train. Roos from PSV to cover in defence, we had Ramos in from Monaco, but due to loan restrictions, we let him go to get Agor in from Arsenal.

Up next Derby, The Gods are with us today, the new strike force of Agor and Perep give us something we aint had before, a decent strike force!. We thrash Derby in style with both the new boys Agor and Perep netting once each aswell as leading goal king Poole who made it his 12th of the season. The new guys have given us some kind of new edge up front, we're much much much more sharper up front. First touch and it was in the net, thats whats needed in this league.

Overall, a good end to the session for the lads, time will tell if the loans can cut it but so far so good, they seem to know what to do with the ball and the defence have held out once again and kept a clean sheet. Lets hope theirs more of the same to come icon_smile.gif

THE BLUE HALF

Well after one of the most hectic pre season at goodison and in my carear the season finally got underway.

AUGUST

Man U (a) att : 64564 20-8

Going to old trafford is never an easy task and after yet another championship season this was not the place I wanted to go for the opening day. Most of my players unfit due to the assistant playing reserves in friendlys and still undecided on my formation surly I was on a hiding to nothing. Well not quite the boy wonder Rooney putting us ahead and Gravensen making it 2 it looked like a shock was on the cards. Until Ronaldo took control of he game and rip me to shread creating the bulk of utds chances and setting up both goals for RVN and Soskjaer. However this was a result I would have took going into the game

Result 2-2

Scorers : Rooney 24 , Gravesen 54 , Solskjaer 45 , RVN 58

Leicester (h) att: 3917323-8

Well a bumper crowd came out to support the new players and walk like an egyption was the theme tune to welcome Mido on his home debut.

The players didn't let the fans down and strolled to a easy victory in the end of summer sun.

Mido got the ball rolling and ended with a brace on his home debut while the fans favourite Rooney bagged his second of the season.

Result 3-0

Scorers : Mido 45,49 , Rooney 62

Millwall (a) att: 19899 27-8

Well this was the first game of the season that seen the Sky sports camera go to the Den to watch the toffees new signings. Hoping to carry on there promisesing start to the season and get to the 40point mark as quickly as possible Everton fancied there chances at taking all 3 points.

However a woeful performance by virtually all 11 meant we created next to nothing and Millwall deservedly scored through Maccarone. An injury to Nicky butt rounded off a dreadful day for Everton icon_frown.gif

Result 0-1

Scorers : Maccorone 36.

The Champions League Welcomes the Hammers 06-07

3rd October 2006 – Vs Ajax (H) Champions League Group Stage

The second game in this Champions league against the Dutch Champions Ajax was always going to be a tough one, but the Hammers did not seem to compete on any level icon_mad.gif an abject performance made the Dutch look like Masters and the Eastenders look like muppets. 4-0 the final score. icon13.gif

8th October 2006 – Vs Liverpool (H)

After the mid week misery in the Champions League, a performance was required, to re-energise the team. Robinho got the crowd going with an early goal, but Owen quickly responded for the Reds. Gavilan restored the lead which the hammers protected to take in at half time. The second half saw controversy as Hayden Mullins was sent off , Le Tallec equalised, only for Gavilan to edge West Ham ahead of the scousers again, and the 10 men of the Boleyn hung on for a well deserved win! icon_biggrin.gif

21st October 2006 – Vs Everton (A)

What went wrong? The game was played at a fast pace and was fairly even throughout with West Ham piling the pressure on but were unable to match the finishing of Everton and a rather lopsided 4-1 defeat did flatter Everton, Paul Rouch however took time out to congratulate the Everton Manager on their fine win icon_mad.gif

24October 2006 – Vs Porto (A) Champions League Group Stage

The 3rd game in West Hams Champions League experience and still not a point, West Ham needed a result here to retain any hope of staying in the competion and to try and eradicate the memory of the poor result in the league against Everton. A Robinho hatrick and additions from Kallstrom and Oskarsson as West Ham reverted to a 4-4-2 formation put the fervent hammer fans into heavenly wonder as the team put on a real footballing display totally outplaying the Portugese Champions. icon14.gificon_biggrin.gif

Robinho 36, 52, 54

Kallstrom 45

Oskarsson 81

28th October 2006 – Vs Southampton (H)

Fortune was definitely hiding in yet another match where the hammers fans were left wondering how they managed to lose a game they so dominated? The team seem to becoming a real Jekyll and Hyde with their finishing at the moment icon_confused.gif:

After 11 League games with out droppin a point, Man City, were finally held by Leeds at home 0 - 0. Manager Darren Gray had no complaints about the clean sheet but could not belive that his side did not take the win after pounding the Leeds goal.

He also was telling the reporters he thinks he now knows how to code. I think he made all the reporters think he was going crazy for a second. Is he?

On a note away from Man City it has come to the attention that Arsenal have decided to terminate the contract of Arsene Wenger. It has caused a media frenzie accross the country as to who will get the vacant position?

Well anyway thats all from me tonight, the full results are posted below.

stevenage.JPG?The Road Back To Recovery Has Begun!

Well since the new arrivals, a change of tactic and a bottle of diet coke, things have started to change for the better.

After a fantastic win over Derby, it we had more tough games coming up and it looks like we're starting to come back from a poor start to the season. We also signed Magno Silva Viera from debt ridden Wigan, 150k now over doubled his value since signing, lets hope he can deliver the goods too.

Leeds Utd vs Stevenage

So where better to start than at Elland Road, of course this game didnt go without the usual flaws but it was a tough battle which we let happen. We managed to score once again with goals from oustanding captain Juliusson, the unstoppable Poole and on-loan wonderkid Lucas scored a header minutes from time to secure three points after we did concede 2 goals from Leeds two shots on target, always happens to us but luckily we out scored them. Magno had a great game, despite not scoring he was involved in everything possible, great start for the lad.

Leeds 2 : 3 Stevenage

Stevenage vs Portsmouth

From one tough game to another, despite their quality, Pompey find themselves were the media are prediciting us to be at the end of the season, bottom of the table. So it was time to continue our winning streak of course, Once again Magno was involved in everything but just the woodwork denying him his goals. So instead the ever present Poole notched in two followed with an absolute cracker from on loan star Perep, 30 yard belter which curled round the keeper nicely. Then it was Super Sub time, Agar on loan from Arsenal showed what he can do and bagged a couple more for us. Brilliant win and Magno deserved a goal an all.

Stevenage 5 : 0 Portsmouth

Rushden vs Stevenage

We seem to be a bit dodgy away this season, but we're not alone, other teams have been too. It looked on course for us as within the early minutes we took the lead through Poole. But then they came at us left right and centre and dominated the rest of the first half with scoring a goal. The early stages of the second half continued the trend so i didnt like that, put two subs on and changed things around in the tactic. Bloody hell! what a change, from being under attack to breaking the rushden's net as we eventually control the game and attack like mad, Poole finished off two more to complete his hattrick followed by a goal from the one and only Perep. Rushden did get another goal in the end but i missed it, think it was from a corner, who cares, we won icon_biggrin.gif

Rushden 2 : 4 Stevenage

Despite not scoring yet, Magno has done a superb job for us in the games he's been involved in and certainly deserves a goal. Hopefully my away form will improve now too and we concede less goals and score even more than before. If we can keep our current standard up then it will only take 1 or 2 slip ups from the teams above us for us to be back with them and contenting for the serious promotion places.

THE BLUE HALF

SEPTEMBER

Well just before the first game of the month we at Everton announced another signing to put pressure on the front two , coming from my old club QPR and bagging over 20 premiership goals in his first season we are proud to call B J Kristjansson an Evertonian.

Hull (h) att: 27817 2/9

After the previous months indifferent form and the lack of quality being shown by several big name players , we welcomed Hull to Goodison looking to bounce back from a defeat at Millwall. On paper it wasn't a glamour fixture and the attendance showed that. However this was a great chance for the Mido etc to show there class against a team which had only just gained promotion. Hull came though on the back of an impressive start to the season bouyed on by there uefa cup campaign and in truth absolutly killed my Everton team , no passion , no skill and no desire some fans left screaming and it wasn't far from the truth. All credit most go to Andy Hepburn who is fast turning his Hull team into a team to fear and continued my poor form against other human managers

Result : 0-4 icon_frown.gif

Scorers : Partridge 23 , Paulinho 42 , Alsoppp 54 , Elliot 87

Fulham (a) att:19191 16/9

after two defeats on the bounce confidance was low going to Craven cottage , a debut was given to free summer signing Pinear. The south african responded to the challenge to bag a brace. However the score line was flattering as after taking the lead twice Fulham deserved to equaliser on both occasions . Two goals in the last 5 mins giving us a victory we needed but not the level of performance I require my players to give. The game mark Kristjansson bagging his first goal for the club coming off the subs bench to belt in a cracker from 25yards.

Result 4-2

Scorers: Pienarr 8.85 , Smicer 46 ,Rooney 52,Knight 69 ,Kristjansson 90

Wolves (h) att: 40070 23/9

The fans spured on by the victory at Craven cottage came out in force to cheers on the lads , despite a really poor performance by both teams the home fans left the happiest after Scotland wonderkid curled in a amazing free kick to take all 3 points with 3 minutes to go. Again though the performance of big name players and my decision not to sign any decent full backs in the summer nearly cost us. Were the players just taking time to gel or had a signed a bunch of overratted average players ?? questions which needed to be answered if we are to push for a european place.

League cup

Colcester (a) att:6381 26/9

This was a chance for some of the fringe players to come in a show what they could. The likes of summer siging Thompson and Reo Coker it was a chance to push for a place in an under perfroming first team and really get the attention they have been spouting they deserve. An easy stroll against lower league oppisition resulted in both men scorering and Coker taking the MOM award . This was a game that certainly left food for thought.

Result 2-0

Scorers : Reo Coker 21 , Thompson 64

</pre>

A combination of really poor defending and poor finishing really started to take affect to Torquay and this called for desperate measures as Manager Rob White changed his usual Gung Ho 3-2-2-1-2 to a steady 4-4-2.

The tactic started to take effect with a draw and a 5-2 away win a bottom team wallsall which really gave the team a morale boost.

This helped us out in a good kind of way as we drew the next game and won away at Boston utd 2-1 with a closey fought battle.

Next was a tough away match against a strong ipswich side with a good team which they had used in the div. 1 it proved too strong for the gulls as they squerned all their chances as Ipswich took advantage and scored 4 past the young in-experinced 15 yr old keeper. If was good to see the side actually creating opportunities for the front two Makofo and Stevens, but Ipswich took advantage of defensive mishaps and buried us down to the mid-table of Div.2.

Even though we took a bit of a hammering off Ipswich the Board and Players were still confident in Manager Rob White that results would start to roll in.

Were they ever right when the met Blackpool at home in thier next match, when in the 1st 20minutes a Blackpool player was sent off it was The Gulls who took control and started run all over blackpool.

With 10-men Blackpool looked weaker but still attacked our sloppy defence and had 2 great opportunities to score, whcih proved a bit costly when Torquay started banging in the goals and to go 6-0 up. But as there always is in big games Blackpool got their consolation goal.

Now that Torquay seemed to have adapted to the formation, the next match was a crucial FA Cup Match, after going out of the league cup and LDV Vans in the 1st rounds this is the only cup left for torquay. Even though realistically we have no chane of winning the cup it has a great financial package along with it and each round genrates money that every Div. 2 club needs to keep going.

The tie was against 3rd Divsion Mansfield at home.

The match got off to a great start for torquay by scoring 3 goals within the 1st 20 minutes. As torquay pressed and pressed the goals came and came and torquay stormed through to the 3rd round of the FA Cup.

Transfers

As Rob WHite is always looking for the extra depth player there was more signings for the gulls as 6 new young players came into the club.

<pre class="ip-ubbcode-code-pre">

Johnthan Heacote is the pick of the bunch as a looked for a cover left-back he turned out to be a great talent and has become my permanent left-back when fit.

Also Steve Leonard has been rush into the GK postion as the crisis postion at the club cannot be solved due to no suitbale clients avaliable for the postion. But he has produced some good saves and at only 15 can only get better.

Upcoming Fixtures

Well its mid-season and its time to start picking up scrappy results and hopefully get a few lower divsion teams in the FA Cup to genrate some revnues for the club to help with the future of the club.

Hull_2.JPG?

Tiger Times

Well as Hull come to the mid way point in the season they still find themselves in an incredible second place behind leaders Newcastle. Having just been promoted Hepburn is living in a dream world as his side have produced some stunning performances. Here is a run down of the matches.....

The League Campaign

Hull v QPR - (H) - 1-1

After their exertions in the UEFA Cup Hull had the visit of Mark Brown's old team QPR at The Circle. Hull dominated the game but could not find a way past Kasper Schmeichel in the QPR goal more than once. Against the run of play QPR took the lead due to a howler from Roy Carrolll who was caught well out of position for the goal. It was not till thirteen minutes from time that Hull managed an equaliser. That equaliser came through Paulinho who had a great game in the heart of the Hull midfield. Hull will feel disappointed they did not take maximum points in this one.

WBA v Hull - (A) - 2-1

This was one of those hard fought ugly performances from Hull. They were under the cosh a little in this game but still managed to pull a win out of the bag. Danny Allsop gave Hull an early lead and he then extended their lead via the penalty spot in the twenty seventh minute. WBA came back strongly and after the howler against QPR Carroll made up for it with a couple of vital saves to give Hull the win and maintain their quest of avoiding relegation.

Hull v Aston Villa - (H) - 1-1

It was back to The Circle again for the visit of Aston Villa. This was a really tight match and draw reflected this as there were very few chances at either end. Jobi McAnuff gave Hull the lead right on half time with a penalty but Villa equalised in the second half. It really was one of the more voring matches as Villa defended in numbers and counter attacked very effectivley much to the annoyance of Hepburn.

Tottenham v Hull - (A) - 4-0

Hepburn felt Hull were not giving themselves enough attacking options in the final third so he made a tactical change and it seemed to work to great effect. It was a superb attacking performance from Hull and the defence did their job effectively. Two first half goals from Richie Partridge gave Hull a half time lead. Then further goals from Delaney and Allsopp completed a comprehensive victory.

Hull v Liverpool - (H) - 5-0

It was now the turn of Liverpool one of the most famous clubs in English Football to visit The Circle and I think they won't be coming back anytime soon. Just like Spurs Liverpool were turned over in another superb performance. Stuart Elliot started the rout, then a goal from Paulinho gave Hull a nice lead at half time. Liverpool were limited to efforts from 30+ yards and never really troubled Carroll in the Hull goal. Then three minutes from time saw Allsopp make it 3-0 then two more goals from him gave him an unbelievable three minute hat trick as the game ended the Hull fans could not believe it.

Southampton v Hull - (A) - 1-0

Well going from easy wins to hard fought wins seems to be easy for this Hull team. In this match it was a hard fought win as the Hull defence stood firm to keep yet another clean sheet. Up front it was Paulinho in the very first minute who gave Hull the only goal of the game.

Hull v Man Utd - (H) - 1-0

Man Utd must hate the sight of Hull City as yet again they lost but were very very unlucky not to win this game. They have played Hull five times now and still have not recorded a win. Man U dominated the game win Hull having a couple of chances but Roy Carroll yet again produced save after save to keep his former employers at bay. Then in the last minute former Man Utd youngster broke free from Silvestre put a brilliant ball in the box and Danny Allsopp finished the move off to give Hull the win.

Leicester v Hull - (A) - 2-0

Hepburn demanded more from his midfield and strikers after the Hull defence had kept Hull in matches of late. So they went out full of purpose and created many chances in this game. Michael Stewart opened the scoring with his first ever goal for Hull and then hero of the previous game Danny Allsopp popped up with number two. In truth it could have been more but they had to settle for two.

The League Cup

Well after last season's success the fans were wanting more of the same. Well they got the worst possible start being drawn against Arsenal at Highbury. It did not turn out that way as hull thrashed Arsenal 4-0 with goals from Guy Branston, Stuart Elliot and two goals from Danny Allsopp saw Hull emphatically through to round 4.

Round 4 saw them up against Birmingham at The Circle. Hull changed the team a round a little with Allsopp and Elliot being given a well earned rest and Porhallsson and Strevens coming in. The replacements just did not have their shooting boots on as they missed chance after chance. The game went to penalties and Birmingham went through after a horror show of a penalty shootout from Hull. Hepburn was not best pleased by the outcome let me tell you that.

UEFA Cup

After the great win in Poland it was a formality back at The Circle as Hull won 2-0 with two goals from midfield dynamo Paulinho. Round 3 saw Hull drawn against Rosenborg. They have plenty of European experience with numerous seasons in the Champions League. It would be tough.

The first leg saw Hull travel to Norway and again it was bloody freezing. These thermals are coming in handy i must say!!!! Rosenborg took an early lead through former Aberdeen striker Avrild Stavrum. Hull fought back in the second half as Porhallsson levelled things for Hull and then Partridge scored what proved to be the winner in the sixty nineth minute.

It was still all to play for although Hull had the advantage with the away goal and playing at home. Hull started the game off very well, and went at Rosenborg from the off. The first half somehow finished goaless but the goals finally came for Hull in the second half. Well five of them all at once. Danny Allsopp scored the first for Hull then goals from Stewart Downing, two from Michael Stewart and Damien Delaney finished the scoring for Hull. Then it was time to dream of who the get in the next round. Hopefully someone from Spain so Hepburn and myself his roving reporter can top up our tans.

mancity.jpg

After looking like running away with the the title earlier in the season, Man City now find themselves in a scrap for the first division title with a strong Norwich team and with Coventry and Stevenage not far behind.

The main reasons for City's problems were due to some uneeded to stars like basturck and the lenthy injuries of Mikael forssell and Lee Croft. Couple this with the fact Paulo Montero has been set off more times than hes had hot dinners means that the fans at the city of Manchester stadium are in it for the Long Haul.

To counter act these problems, Gray, has brought a couple of loan players to give more depth to the squad. He has brought in Farren Ambrose from Newcatle, Tommy Wright from Spurs and Jermaine Thomas from Arsenal. Thomas seems to be finding his feat quite well bangin in the goals nearly everytime he pulls on a Blue shirt.

Gray has vowed to get his team back on to the winning track and not lose sight of his main goal at the start of the season. Getting City out of the first division and back to the premiership where they belong!!!!!

The helicopters circled the ground and police presence was high as most category A hoolies were expected to make an appearance at this derby. 16th December 2006 – Vs Hull (H)

Hull are surprising everyone in the premiership this season, and are currently sat top of the league as the arrive at the Boleyn. Andy Hepburn had taken the early season tip for relegation, and against all expectation, had them leading the way! A total domination of a team riding so high has never been seen in such complete terms as witnessed at Upton Park today! Oskarsson scored the only goal of the first half while Hull only managed one shot on the West Ham goal. The second half saw Oskarsson complete a hatrick, and Huth convert from the spot as Hull’s Branston got in a right pickle and got sent off. Etherington added to the Hull managers woes as rampant West Ham didn’t allow Hull out of their half to add to their one shot.icon_biggrin.gificon_cool.gif

West Ham were now on something resembling a run! And the players ensured the run continued in the midlands! Etherington opened the scoring then Robinho increased the lead and Oskarsson all but finished the baggies off just before half time with West Hams third. Oskarsson grabbed another couple to complete his hatrick in the second half and even managed to net a fourth as West Ham cruised to another victory, in what was actually a close fought contest, but separated by West Hams clinical finishing as the baggies are left with a real Christmas hangover icon_biggrin.gif

stevenage.JPG? Planet Stevenage : The Return Of The Boro

Well, its been some of the most frustrating sessions with Stevenage for me and then some really enjoyable ones, at one stage I thought we were gonna lose the remaining games until some new found fortune hit our way. Also to add, in the later part of our games we also got a new signing Notman for 10k from Wayne's Norwich side, cheers mate, bargain. Also got talented colombian Hildago coming in on the 1st of Feb who is very highly rated by City manager Daz Gray and funnily enough was also snubbed by the striker.

So here begins the round up : Session 1

Stevenage vs Charlton

Tough start to the session, a very good team coming to visit us, despite their poor league position, certainly not one to take lightly. Well, continuing on our winning streak we brushed aside the addicks eventually after some superb work by the captain Juliusson who knocked in two goals with one of them being an absolute corker, his effort was followed by fellow midfield maestro Carl Lewis to round the game off.

Full Time : 3-0

Sheff Wed vs Stevenage

Oh god, what have i done to this stupid game to deserve this crap? Completely over this crappy Wednesday side but we seem to completely fall apart on our travels and conceding every time we play away from home, well dont want to say anymore on it but Juliusson made it 3 goals in 2 games.

Full Time : 2-1

Stevenage vs Wimbledon

Considering their problems, the Dons seem to be staying in Div1 quite easily, well it wasnt even a close game, we gave the fans attack after attack but nothing, not a bloody sausage, so a change in formation, a super sub on and Bingo, Agar and Mackey score in the last 12minutes of the match to secure the 3pts infront of a delighted home crowd.

Full Time : 2-0

Session 2

Peterborough vs Stevenage

Dont want to talk about this game, got screwed out of a decent result completely, everything they touched went in despite us being the dominate and easily the better side, still goals from Lewis, Poole and two from Silva wernt enough. Stupid ****ing game grrrrrrrr i so hate it sometimes.

Full Time : 5-4

Stevenage vs Rotherham

And if the last game wernt enough of ****ing me up then this one took the ****ing **** even more, how the **** a team can win with just having had 1 shot all game is beyond me, especially when you hammer their net with bucket loads of shots, no wonder of course, their keeper gets man of the match, this session couldnt get any bloody worse, we're getting home loses now too icon_frown.gif

Full Time : 0-1

N.Forest vs Stevenage

Then we get an away game, oh dear, can it get any worse for us? first half easily falls into Forest's hands and they take a 1-0 lead aswell, they were all over us, our defence doesnt seem to know its use is as everthing gets through them like their not even there. Changes have to be made without a doubt, I cannot take this **** anymore, having also had 1 player sent off early in the 2nd half didnt help one bit but whats this? A revival? the return of the wins? Damn right it is, 10man Boro and their new formation score two goals, Agar and Huckerby the players netting, amazing turn around.

Full Time : 1-2

Stevenage vs Cardiff

New formation, bit of a rotation in the players and now a difficult and strong Cardiff side to meet us, come again you welsh dragons as in a massive turn around we've gone from absolute ****e to bloody great. New signing Notman came in from Norwich and he opens his account on his debut with a 35yard screamer which later earned him the goal of the month, his effort was followed by Perep, a Cardiff Penalty got them within calling distance before super sub Agar banged in a double, thank you very much.

Full Time : 4-1

Coventry vs Stevenage

Oh bugger, Coventry who are one place above us in the league have just beaten invicible Man City, yeah, unbelievable, what chance do we have? Well they were certainly not getting any better as within 3 minutes, centre back Thomas gets sent off, but wait! You not heard of playing Samba style brazilian football? Well the Sky Blues have now has out of no where Magno Silva-Viera has suddenly hit form, he bangs in a hattrick, amazing display upfront from him and another 10man win for the Boro.

Full Time : 1-3

Session 3

Barnsley vs Stevenage

We've found some kind of new form, the new tactic is certainly giving us more stability in defence, how? i dont know to be honest, its working at the moment and I cant complain, although it was a very difficult game, Agar put us ahead and then superb run from Notman saw him get his second Boro goal and also take home points in a game that could of gone either way.

Full Time : 1-2

Stevenage vs Man Utd (FA Cup)

With such a congested and tight fixture list, first team players out and reserves in, they played better than man utd for 90minutes, they should of won about 4-0 but it ended 0-0 with Utd having had 1 shot overall. Zidane etc were all playing for utd but they just wernt in it from the start, a good pay day for me when we go to OT though!

Full Time : 0-0

Brighton vs Stevenage

Bring the teams on now I tell ya! We're starting to bang them in now who ever gets in our way, its a dodgy Brighton team who keep getting results of everyone, but today they wont get anything from us. We smash them completely and their defender Weston was lucky not to have a red card despite giving away 2 pens and being furious with the ref. So Lewis knocked in both the pens with Silva also getting another and Poole getting a brace.

Full Time : 1-5

Stevenage vs Crystal Palace

As Palace just sold their star man for 2mill to Newcastle, i was looking forward to this game now, and what a game it was, we make it 9 goals in 2 games as Nevins of all people opens the scoring with a fierce 20 yard piledriver, Poole follows that same root to goal and then samba superstar Silva decides to notch a couple himself an all. Great game for the fans and superb defending once again.

Full Time : 4-0

Man Utd vs Stevenage

We end the session with this FA Cup game, the reserves are back in and i do expect to lose it now, although they put up a really good fight, the reserve back line just couldnt battle it out at OT with the pace that Bellion had, they crash out but i dont care about that, the 900k I got from the game bring a smile to me even more, cheers Utd icon_smile.gif

Full Time : 3-0

Our league form is really starting to take shape now that we've changed to a new formation, running over opponents and also scoring a few now too, especially now Magno has hit form and Poole is back from injury too, he has 20 goals already this season. If we can hold out now until the end of the season, we might even snatch away that 2nd automatic promotion spot as Norwich and Man City both dipped in form recently allowing us to catch them up a little and we were even 2nd for a very small amount of time on goal difference icon_smile.gif

Come on the Boro, we can do it!

Hull_2.JPG?

Tiger Times

Well folks Hull are still in there fighting for the title!!! Yes champions of division one last season and the fans are dreaming of Premiership success at the first attempt. Hepburn is playing down title aspirations by saying Hull are just avoiding relegation but they keep winning and find themselves involved in a title race with Newcastle. Here is a run down of the latest fixtures in this amazing season for Hull....

The League Campaign

Hull v Millwall - (H) - 3-0

The Hull squad still seem to be hurting over Millwall's thrashing of Hull at The New Den last season. Hull were really up for this game and started like an express train getting in Millwall's faces. Danny Allsopp opened the scoring in twenty three minutes with a delightful strike. Second half strikes furthered their lead from Michael Stewart who seems to be revelling in his defensive midfield role at Hull. It should of been more but Hull had settle for a superb 3-0 victory.

West Ham v Hull - (A) - 0-5

I am lost for words in this game and so was Hepburn. Well done rouchie's West Ham.

Fulham v Hull - (A) - 1-0

After the West Ham game and a few replaced windows at The Circle Hepburn took his team to London again to face Fulham. Last season Hull were a class above Fulham but in this game Fulham showed how much they had improved since last season. It was a tough old encounter, not many chances and very scrappy. Hull's class showed through in the end as Paulinho scored a superb goal that proved to be the winner. Fulham showed lots of fighting spirit but not enough end product to put Hull under pressure.

Wolves v Hull - (H) - 0-3

What more can be said that it was a terrible performance from Hull. Wolves dominated the game from start to finish and never gave Hull a chance to even muster up a real chance in the match. Hepburn was furious on the touchline and it also meant more repair work at The Circle.

Hull v Birmingham - (H) - 2-0

After a dismal showing at Wolves Hull's players were up against Birmingham the bottom team in the division. Knowing that Hull might not be at their best they made it very awkward but Hull did get a morale boosting victory after such a poor performance. It wasn't pretty but it was three points and Hepburn was much happier than last week. The fans backed the team and the manager all the way through the game even when they were not creating chances.

Arsenal v Hull - (A) - 6-1

There are certian matches when everything just falls into place almost like the perfect match. Hull produced one of these performances. It had everything from power to pinnache as Hull took a strong Arsenal team apart a la Henry and Vieria. It was a dream start for Hull as after 15 minutes they were 3-0 up and coasting to victory against former Premiership champions. Danny Allsopp opened the scoring after two minutes, Paulinho made it 2-0 and then Danny Allsopp added his second and Hull's third after fifteen minutes. Then only seven minutes later Stuart Elliot scored Hull's fourth and then Allsopp grabbed his hat trick to give hull a 5-0 half time lead. It was academic in the second half as Hull were went down a few gears and soaked up some Arsenal pressure. A Danny Allsopp penalty made it 6-0 to Hull and the fans were in dream land. Could this be happening???? Arsenal scored a consolation goal through Thierry Henry but most of the Arsenal fans had already left and on their way home. It was a truely stunning performance from Danny Allsopp in particular who put in a stunning individual performance.

Hull v Everton - (H) - 1-0

It was time for Mark Brown's Everton to come to The Circle. Everton were playing some great football under Brown that had Hepburn concerned about what might happen. It was a very close first half but Hull upped the gears and put a on a great second half performance. Hull created numerous chances with no end product but then finally they took the lead through Danny Allsopp with a great strike that went in off the post. It proved to be the winner and this avoiding relegation thing was becoming easier by the game.

Newcastle v Hull - (A) - 1-1

It was time for a top of the table clash against league leaders Newcastle. It was a tough shift for the Hull defence as they were under constant pressure. Hull had taken the league against the run of play with their first attack of the game. Partridge took it passed a couple of defenders, hit the byeline and put in a great cross that Stuart Elliot got on the end of. But the inevatible happened as Newcastle equalised and went on to dominate the game and Hull were lucky to hang on for a draw.

Hull v Middlesbrough - (H) - 3-1

Another great performance from Hull as they kept in touch with league leaders Newcastle with another convincing win. Hull were up for revenge after the loss at the Riverside Stadium and boy is revenge sweet. Danny Allsopp converted number 1 for Hull after a good opening spell saw them capitalise and take the lead. It got better for Hull as Christopher Eagles the new kid sensation at Hull came on for the injured McAnuff and produced number 2 with a great turn and shot from 20 yards out. He later went on to win the man of the match. Freddy Guarin scored Hull's third to secure at great win. Boro came out second half fired up but never really troubled Carroll's goal although they did score a consolation goal.

The FA Cup

Hull's FA Cup campaign got off to a low key start against Bournemouth who put up a very spirited performance. Hull however did run out 1-0 winners in the end thanks to a goal from Paulinho. They went into the draw for round four where they are up against Woking in another game they should win.

UEFA Cup News

After Hull's great win against Rosenborg in round three they are drawn against Udinese of Serie A. It is sure to be a tough tie but one that Hull can win if they perform like they know they can.

The Champions League Welcomes the Hammers 06-07

As the new year started the monthly awards were issued and Oskarsson was recognised for his outstanding scoring exploits as he returned to his best form. Player of the month for Orri and it was well deserved after shooting the hammers up the table to third and into the knockout phase of the champions league!

1st January 2007 – Vs Wolves (H)

As they entered the new year a home game for the hammers beckoned against Midlanders Wolves, with premiership games against Villa and Birmingham to follow I am having my suspicions that someone is tampering with the fixture list icon_eek.gif A win here would set a new record for West Ham of 6 consecutive victories. Not a good start as the gold shirts of Wolves score two first half goals to take an unlikely 2-0 lead at the Boleyn with both goals from Camara. The comeback in the second half was nothing short of phenomenal though! Paul Rouch must have given them the hairdryer treatment at halftime because it was a different team in the second half. Defoe, appearing for the first time in a very long while, started the comeback, Lee Bowyer, another player making a rare appearance scored the other two in a remarkable turnaround! icon_biggrin.gif

Result - West Ham 3 Wolves 2

Defoe 47 Camara 19, 24

Bowyer 51, 74

Att – 23983

6th January 2007 – Vs Leeds(H) FA Cup 3rd Round

With the hammers stretching out into a real run now, the romance of the FA cup beckons, and a home draw against Leeds, A tough game which the hammers won with goals from Oskarsson and Simonetta as Robinho continues to be rested. icon_cool.gif

Result - West Ham 3 Leeds 0

Oskarsson 45

Simonetta 72

Att – 22001

10th January 2007 – Vs Aston Villa (A)

Vassell sets the tone of this game with only a minute on the clock as he scores an early goal for the Villans, Oskarsson responds for the hammers only for Whittingham to re-establish the lead for the midland team, before Oskarsson again equalised for the Hammers all before 30 minutes had been played! Kallstrom got his marching orders just before half time and West Ham went to their dressing room with a very tough second half in prospect! Thu put the Hammers in front for the first time on the hour only for Angel to equalise with 15 minutes to go, which is how the game stayed. Not another win, but still extending an unbeaten run icon_biggrin.gif

Result - Aston Villa 3 West Ham 3

Vassell 2 Oskarsson 12, 29

Whittingham 21 Thu 60

Angel 76

Att – 38475

13th January 2007 – Vs Birmingham (H)

West Ham welcomed the blues of Birmingham to the Boleyn and secured the easiest 3 points since they played Hull! Oskarsson (who else?) scored his 20th goal of the season to start the ball rolling, and in the second half Dugarry sent the ball into his own net to double the Hammers advantage, Repka and Bowyer added to the tally to give West Ham an easy victory. icon14.gif

Result - West Ham 4 Birmingham 0

Oskarsson 22

Dugarry (og) 67

Repka 82

Bowyer 90

Att – 25087

17th January 2007 – Vs Tottenham (A)

West Ham are looking to maintain the pressure on Hull and Newcastle as they continue their assault on the premiership top spot! Kallstrom scored the only goal of the first half, Oskarsson grabbed another goal for the hammers after Nene had temporarily put Spurs level icon_biggrin.gif

Result - Tottenham 1 West Ham 2

Nene 66 Kallstrom 41

Oskarsson 53

Att – 36229

20th January 2007 – Vs Arsenal (H)

And so the pattern continues, from one north London team to another, the Gunners come to the east end and see Dunn put them in front only for Kallstrom to peg them back and then Oskarsson put the Hammers in front for all of a minute before Henry equalises for the Gooners. All square at half time. Kallstrom re-established the lead in the second half but again Henry produced an equaliser within a minute. All level at the end icon_eek.gif

Result - West Ham 3 Arsenal 3

Kallstrom 29, 80 Dunn 18

Oskarsson 33 Henry 34, 81

Att – 35082

27th January 2007 – Vs Rushden(H) FA Cup 4th Round

With the seasons exploits starting to catch up on some players, the manager decided this was a game where some players could be rested, Pongolle and Defoe came in up front, Bowyer, Gavilan. Carrick and Richardson returned to the midfield, while Sendoros came in with Bramble at the back. Obviously Rushden then took the lead via a Reddy strike, but Bowyer ensured the teams went in level at half time, Defoe put the Hammers in front in the second half, which was enough to secure passage to the next round icon_biggrin.gificon_cool.gif

Result - Rushden 1 West Ham 2

Reddy 25 Bowyer 33

Defoe 46

stevenage.JPG? Planet Stevenage : What About..... What About Brazilian?

Are we going mad at Stevenage HQ? Damn right we are, mad about the new Legend at the club and what a Legend he is, the new "samba" star is none other than bargain Magno Silva-Viera. What a buy, this guy is worth every penny and more. Anyway, we enjoyed some fantastic victories since our change in tactics in the 2nd half vs Forest. We started a run of 5 consecutive wins. Probably the best we had this season I think cause we had such a rocky first half to the season. Anyway, we played four more games tonight and this is how we got on....

Sheff Utd vs Stevenage

A tough game on paper thats for definate, Sheff Utd had also purchased one of our young prospect goalkeepers at the start of the season, we needed the money. However, Sheff Utd do find themselves at the wrong end of the table and our recent form meant we could certainly get something out of this one. In true Stevenage style and of course CM tradition, after just four minutes, Sheff Utd take the lead through a corner. But folks, sorry to dissapoint, that was all from Sheff Utd, A certain brazilian who goes by the name of Magno Silva-Viera had enough, he bangs in not 1, not 2 but completes his second hattrick for the club and then added another one for fun on top of that, his superb display was followed by goals from Poole and also super sub Agar. A great game for the fans and a fantastic performance by Magno who seems to have definately settled in now, adapted to division 1 and cant stop banging them in.

Sheff Utd 1 : 6 Stevenage

Stevenage vs Crewe

No rest for the wicked, a mid-week game this one but there was just no stopping the lads now, another solid performance from the lads see's left back Tierney open the scoring, he's been brilliant so far this season. He then setup the one and only Magno Silva-Viera and to round things off late on in the game, another bargain in Notman scored too. Defensively we were once again like the old days, very solid and kept a clean sheet too.

Stevenage 3 : 0

There has been some action in the transfer market too for Stevenage, the premiership teams have had their transfer deadline but that doesnt come along yet for the nationwide league teams. We brought in another South American to the squad, Colombian striker Hildago comes in on a free after rejecting Man City and getting his work permit after an appeal. We also sold a player, Rob's Torquay side needed some experienced defensive cover, so we agreed a deal for veteran and a long servant member of the club Barry Laker to go to the Gulls on a free transfer, Laker was brilliant for us in the last three seasons. Hildago will come on as a sub in the next game.

Stevenage vs Norwich

Big Big, Absolutely massive game this one. If we beat Norwich, it means we increase the gap to 4pts and stay in 2nd place, thats right, 2nd place and automatic promotion place. Having had a draw at Carrow Road, anything but a loss would do me here too, Wayne has brought in some cracking players with superb talent. Once again, the first half didnt go our way at all and Norwich take a deserved lead due to some very slack defending. The second half turned out once again to be the better for us like in our first match, Norwich's confidence was shown when Wayne opted to go more offensive......bad mistake, I just changed my tactic to counter anything and it worked brilliantly, Tierney was involved in everything going, finally, after dominating play, Tierney threaded a ball to Magno who then got it to Gilder, he didnt mess around as he unleashed a curling shot from 25 yards into the top corner. We equalised but its not over till the fat lady sings...........and she was singing right after the 92nd minute, what for drama. Tierney feeds Magno down the line and Norwich's defence is wide open, Magno makes a 1-2 with Poole and then dribbles into the area.....then GGGOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL. The winner in the 92nd minute of the game, who would have thought that could happen! A brilliant result for the fans and club.

Stevenage 2 : 1 Norwich

Bolton vs Stevenage

We got a bit of a rest due to the FA Cup, we did lots of training and without a doubt it paid off this game. We expected a rough ride at the Reebok stadium but it was far from that. There was only ever one team in it and it was mainly down to the wonderful samba star Magno Silva-Viera, he scores his third hattrick for the club, yes his third hattrick and he's now also scored in 7 consecutive matches he's been involved in. The scoring didnt stop with Magno though, Gilder scored another corker of a goal followed by Poole and then also new boy Hildago who was left one-on-one with the keeper, we also kept another clean sheet here too, an all round solid performance.

Bolton 0 : 6 Stevenage

The new boy gets a goal, we score plenty through the brilliance and new legend that is Magno Silva-Viera! We are now second in the league and if we can continue this brilliant form we have at the moment, we can, amazingly, avoid relegation in style icon_smile.gif

Still plenty of games left but there is a bit of confidence around the Stevenage camp now.

stevenage.JPG?Planet Stevenage : Against All Odds

Fans of Stevenage, Fans of the Boro, we welcome you once again to an action packed session, stuffed full of Easter Eggs and alcohol, they wanted goals and goals is what they got. We only got three games in ourselves but all three were very important and gives us more hope on a dream that people thought would never happen!

Anyhow, here's how we got on tonight :

Stevenage vs Sunderland

A side that certainly doesnt lack quality comes to play us but I think on this day, they left that talent in the dressing room as it was an amazing game for the Stevenage fan. Having smashed Bolton for 6 at the Reebok, confidence was sky high and it went straight into orbit after this game. Things didnt start too well as after only 5minutes, Magno Silva the god the legend Viera took a slight knock but I couldnt afford to take him off so early, great decision by yours truly as the Sunderland keeper ended up in no mans land earning Magno the chance to score. As soon as he scored and was subbed, Juliusson the captain also takes a knock and is replaced by Lewis. No looking back despite our best two off the park as Howard nods in from the corner, followed by goals from Notman and Hildago and then rounded off with a 30 yard lob by super sub Agar.

Stevenage 5 : 0 Sunderland

Bristol C vs Stevenage

Well our last away trip was absolutely fantastic, could we follow up the last two performances in which we also kept two clean sheets aswell? Damn right we could and there was no suprise with the scorers either, the brilliant bargain that is Magno Silva-Viera was all over the City defence you wouldnt believe it. A stunning performances all round saw Magno bag once again a Hattrick, yes another hattrick for the club. His superb display of scoring was added by an instrumental Notman who has settled in nicely now and aswell as scoring, he's creating chances by the dozen.

Bristol City 0 : 4 Stevenage

Stevenage vs Watford

Hattrick of clean sheets and we're on a roll! Unbelievable what one man can do, Magno doesnt stop scoring. Despite a tough first half, it was a comical error by Watford that led to the first goal, a scorcher of a shot that hit the bar, nicely rebounded into a Watford defender to bounce in, although he was pressured by Magno who looked like he scored. But despite missing out on that one, he did get his goal eventually but that was after a curling 25yard strike from Hildago and then on form creative maestro Notman added one of his own to continue his scoring run, 10k bargain from Norwich.

Stevenage 4 : 0 Watford

What an incredible session for us, the team have really found its element and are playing superbly in every position on the park. Magno has scored in 10 consecutive games and whats even more incredible, he's already caught up with the leading goal scorers in the league, he's currently in 4th place with 21 goals to his name, thats one place behind team mate Poole who has 23 goals. There are only 11 games left of the season and if he keeps on scoring then without a doubt, he could get 30 goals before its all over. Even better for us now is that Automatic Promotion is looking better and better as the games go by, joint first place with Man City and we both are enjoying a nice lead over the play off teams who have a real battle of their own to stay in them.
