We had a few Injurys hindering selection as well as a few players not at full fitness and with this being a low priority Friendly i decided not too risk anyone, and called up 3 "new Romani citizens" in Mael Lanfranchi, Gaetano Scocozza who both started and Alessandro More who started on the bench. The result ended up being a very April Fools result we had slightly more possesion, on paper we have the better side but we still lost 1-0. Match Stats. Player Stats. We has a squad had some big milestones in this match with Dougal Grant, Bo Hemien and Albert Guaril all earning their 60th caps, Buck Naked earning his 50th and Mathys Dupont earning his 30th. That didn't help our luck too much though with Nigel Sanches having 2 goals ruled out after the referees assistant decided he was offside. We went 2-0 down and even though we played much better in the second half the luck just wasn't with us and Ash Bards goal proved to be no more than a consolation. 2-1 Poland. Match stats. This was a must win game and we delivered we were 2-0 up by half time thanks to goals from Fernando Romane and Maurizio Marras. Early in the second half the game was put beyond Irelands reach thanks to their own player, Darren O'Dea got himself sent off and the Dougal Grant put the ball in the net and the game finished like that 3-0. Harve Melia makes his 60th appearance for his country. In the 3rd minute we got bad news Ireland had had a player sent off against Poland, things started to then go from bad to worse with injurys to Maurizio Marras (9 mins) and Buck Naked (22 minutes) but in the 40th minute we got what we'd dreamed of ..... Nigel Sanchez beat the spanish defender to a ball he should of picked up easily and Sanchez was left with an easy tap in past Casillas from 5 yards out. 5 minutes into the second half Ireland had scored against Poland and all was right with the World. Sanchez was forced off Injured after 64 minutes and we played Madridstas behind Bard and wen't a little more defensive to hold the 1-0 and . . . . . it worked. We not only won but we also topped the group, the Poland game ended up 1-1 putting Poland out. Match Stats. Player Stats. Groups. Squad Injurys. With a win and a draw in our 2 other games we've ever played against Portugal we we're in a fairly confident mood and that is boosted with news that their 3 goal top scorer is missing. It only took 16 minutes for the first goal and that came from . . . Romani and Harve Melia it stayed 1-0 until after half time when Haowan Madridstas came on for Adam Clatworthy (who had taken a knock) and he scored within 2 minutes of the 2nd half. Madridstas got a 2nd goal in the 84th minute putting the game out of Portugal's reach and sending Romani into the semi final. Match Stats. Player Stats. We are cursed with Injurys. We had a couple of landmarks with Haowan Madridstas earning his 20th cap and Prin Offkeepers and Fernando Romane both getting their 50th caps. The first half was a fairly even contest with Romani getting more shots but not able to put them away and that cost them with Russia taking the lead in the 42nd minute. Things got worse for Romani 10 minutes into the 2nd half with Russia getting a second and again it was looking a little against the run of play. It did however only take 2 minutes for Romani to cut the Russian lead when Fernando Romane scored, a Ramon Nunez own goal made the game 3-1 Russia and although Romani did get a late goal via a Nigel Sanchez tap in Russia win 3-1 and go through to the final to face Spain. Fernando Romane made the team of the Tournament, he was also 2nd in the player of the Tournament stakes as well as having the 2nd best goal of the tournament. We had 2 players forced to pull out of the squad for this, our first match in the 2022 World Cup qualifying. Both were CB's Bo Hemien and Matthys Dupont. Liam Ferguson made his 60th Cap in this match. We started the game well and was 2-0 up inside of 10 minutes thanks to goals from Adam Clatworthy and Dougal Grant, we continued the domination throughout the match and only allowed Slovenia 1 shot all game. With an almost injury free squad to choose from and after the 4-0 win against Slovenia Romani got together for these 2 games feeling confident. Unfortunately just before half time in a fairly even contest the Swiss scored. The second half saw Romani with more possession than Switzerland but the goal just wouldn't come for them and Bo Hemiens sending off in the 87th minute all but ended the game for them 1-0 Switzerland. Player Stats. Match Stats. Home vs England October 14th 2020. Bo Hemien is now suspended for this and is joined missing the game by Nigel Sanchez who was booked in the last game. 16 minutes in and England went 2-0 up killing any confidence Romani had kept after the loss to Switzerland they did manage to pull 1 back after 36 minutes and that was the last goal of the game 2-1 England.
