Why Peebles Rovers?

The reason why I have wanted to do this save for a while now is because my grandparents and Dad were born in the small town in the Scottish Borders.

licensed-image.jpg.10589cf5acef9270545e35c9e0922ed3.jpg

I had many happy memories of coming to Peebles as a kid before my grandparents moved to be closer to me and my family.

They do very good steak pies as well.

This save will be a nice tribute to my grandparents and I am hoping to win the Scottish Premiership with Peebles Rovers.

I am using this Level 10 database I found from a guy called Mozza. Here is the file in case anyone wants to try it.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1l8WhglKjzMQ76DdTL8CxAY4dhwovu068/view

My next post will be diving a bit more into Peebles Rovers FC.

Established in 1893, Peebles Rovers were members of the Scottish Football League Third Division between 1923 and 1926, finishing 14th and 8th in the two full seasons played, and were 14th in the unfinished 1925–26 season.

In total, Peebles Rovers played 86 Scottish Football League matches, winning 28, drawing 15 and losing 43. They scored 159 goals and conceded 190.

Their record victory at home was 7-1 against Beith on 18 April 1925. Their best away win was 5-2 against Galston, seven days previously on 11 April 1925.

Pitch Tilt and Shift edit.tif

In 1937, Peebles Rovers moved from their traditional home in Victoria Park to Whitestone Park, after a local businessman successfully managed to acquire planning rights to the eastern end of Victoria Park, intending substantial development that was subsequently curtailed due to the start of World War II.

Peebles Rovers have played in the Scottish Cup proper over twenty times, their first appearance being in 1907-08. They went on to play Hibernian at Easter Road in 1923, holding the Edinburgh side to a 0-0 draw, easily their best result in the competition.

Their final Scottish Cup appearance was in 1965-66, when they drew 2-2 at Dumbarton and took the Sons to extra time in the replay before losing 3-2.

Amongst Peebles Rovers achievements are six East of Scotland League titles.

In the 1966-67, Rovers joined the junior grade of football until they rejoined the senior ranks in the East of Scotland League in 1980-81. In the 2007-08 season, Peebles won promotion to the East of Scotland Premier Division.

The largest crowd at Whitestone Park is recorded as 1,750 for the 4-2 first round Scottish Cup win over Gala Fairydean in 1961.

Facilities as expected with them being a Scottish Non-League team.

Media expect us to finish 9th so hopefully the pressure is off us for the first season.

image.thumb.png.91548561e965971b246cc83955492ed7.png

According to this we need to get a striker in straight away. That will be our focus.

image.thumb.png.7041037c64b77311a6f1ced40e35b277.png

image.thumb.png.78656166b10e3c1dbe070aeb827f60b2.png

The board and fans just want us to work within the budget and grow the clubs reputation while also attaining a top half finish in the league.

I think we should be able to do that.

I will update as I go along. I hope people will like this.

A very nice reason for managing this club, hope you have a great time. The lower levels of Scotland (I guess that makes them the Lowlands :)) seem very popular in FM24.

Yeah I think you are right about that lol.

Yeah I didn't noticed until after I started this thread how popular the Scottish Non-Leagues are on here.

Cheers for the comment. I look forward to seeing what your next career thread takes you.

Welcome to our small clan of Scottish Lower League Managers in this Careers forum. A bunch of us started in tier13, but some of us are up to tier 9/10 now. Each of us have set up our own restrictions to make our saves challenging - feel free to raid us for tips! ;)

Cheers mate. I appreciate your offer of help. I didn't realise there was a Level 13 file out. I could only find a Level 10 but it wouldn't matter as I was set on managing Peebles Rovers due to the family connection.

I do keep an eye on your career thread as I enjoy that is a bit different to others. I also enjoyed your Loch Ness FC career thread you did a while a go.

Thanks for making me feel welcome.

A lovely 5th place finish in our first season and only 2 points from getting into the play offs.

We were very close but went on a bad run towards the end of the season.

Hopefully next season we can get up some more points and get promoted.

Our top goalscorer was Cammy Ritchie who got 19 goals and 14 assists for the season. He was our best player with most assists as well and also had the best average rating of 7.21

Peebles Rovers Season 2 Review

download.jpg.71b5c98ca33a2603732a099957ecc774.jpg

A season where I feel like an opportunity missed with us finishing 5th in the league. I thought we would of progressed but I feel like we have stalled a bit and it took us ages to hit some consistency. By the time we hit some consistency it was too late.

image.thumb.png.cd1e93cb069a584081957720e79836f8.png

We drew too many games. Here is a screenshot to show what I mean compared to last season.

9a096e87fd245250f06f719ad4b142de.thumb.png.fc93723d892bd2ea41b767ad00cba3a5.png

We need to do better and finishing games next season for us to progress.

We got to the Quarter Finals of the King Cup but didn't do well in the other cup competitions.

I feel like the cup competitions are the reason we struggled in the league. I will aim to play rotated teams in the cup competitions next season and try to keep players fresh for the league.

Our best player was on loan striker Jack Vance who scored 20 goals for the season. Sadly he doesn't want to extend his loan.

image.thumb.png.cf6f4941fccef641e67c7d002cf3aa95.png

Owen Bell was our best player overall with the best average rating of 7.19 and he scored 19 goals with 12 assists as well. Luckily he is one of our boys so I aint got to worry about him going back to his club in the summer.

Our social media followers have increased again with 19 new followers.

Our Family supporters profile improved while our Core supporters profile decreased.

I have had a few job offers from teams in the same league as me and then I get an offer of a job interview with Albion Rovers which would of been a good job offer if I was doing a Scottish journeyman save but I am not doing that so I rejected it.

image.thumb.png.601d14257a137031345f10625310c73e.png

The finances look pretty good with us having £26k in the bank and the projection have shown we could make a couple of thousand profit each season which is good for a non league Scottish club. I am just happy we aint in the red.

Promotion Clinched

image.thumb.png.d88a682676f5da9f838b50a74eb7b227.png

We managed to clinch promotion with one game to go. What a great season the boys had for me.

I wasn't expecting a back to back promotion but I was buzzing when we did.

image.thumb.png.325ba909170c3ca0e3249990ecfdcfef.png

In the 4 cup competitions we were involved in this season we only got through to the quarters of the Kings Cup and the other cup competitions we only got to the 3rd rounds.

Our top goalscorer was Jimmy Barclay who got 15 goals for the season. We got him on loan for the season from Queens of the South. We are hoping to sign him on a free transfer in the summer.

image.thumb.png.d321b707859c866f3c8589c661c17e8a.png

Just been offered an interview with Stranraer who currently play in the Scottish League One which would be a hell of a jump up the Scottish ladder but I am staying at Peebles.

I managed to finish 8th with Peebles this season. I am happy with that. I was just happy to not be relegated. Hopefully we can make the play offs next season.

In the cup competitions we managed to get to the 4th round of the Scottish Cup and the 5th round of the Scottish Challange Cup,

Our top goalscorer was James Richardson. A 23rd year old striker we signed from Dundee. He was amazing for us in his first season with him scoring 20 goals for the season.

We got a tough game vs Cove Rangers in the 4th round but I got a feeling we could beat them.  I am hoping we do as I would love us to play Rangers or Celtic at their ground in the next round.

Scottish Cup Dream is over for this season. I was really hoping to get a draw but Hibs were just too good. We had no chance.

We broke our attendance record with 1,250 people turning up. A full house. Nice to see the stadium was full for this.

We managed to top the league this season. A great effort by the lads.

We had to go into some sort of Play Off league with 2 other teams Kilwinning Rangers & St.Cuthbert.

Local lad Lewis Kirk was top goalscorer for the season with 18 goals and 18 assists. He had an amazing season.

Peebles Rovers Season 8 Review

download.jpg.defa871df2ade1c5c29161d5a1b1776a.jpg

I managed to finish 12th in the league this season which is what I was expecting with us making the step up in competition. We are now playing Celtic and Hearts reserves so the quality of opposition we are playing now has upped massively.

image.thumb.png.12072e5c22bfded2fa8a89877e3b4100.png

Only 1 point difference between us and up to 7th place Pollok.

Hopefully we can get a bit higher next season.

Gradual progress is always the key.

Lewis Kirk was our top goalscorer again but only with 13 goals this season. He doesn't seem as good as he was last season.

Our other best player for the season was Dave Hutchinson who got the best average rating of 7.06 and scored 9 goals with 16 assists as well.
