We would've had 3 wins from 3 if we didn't blow a 2-1 lead at Sochaux, where they scored 4 goals in the final 10 minutes in a true capitulation. We're on the cusp of escaping the relegation zone, and we have Chateauroux at home to open our account in 2023. It will probably be the definitive game in setting the tone for the relegation race.

Thanks! I'm using the same tactic I used in Italy and Germany, in England I used a 4-4-2 and in Spain I used a 5-3-2 with 2 DMs and an AM.

A pretty funny month, as evidenced by the HAHAHA fixture sequence. Our home form has been impeccable, and safety is assured if we draw our next game at home to 17th placed Sochaux.

A strong end to the season, and on paper we survive comfortably. In reality though, this was a tough slog, in no small part due to converting almost everyone in the first team to positions they hadn't played before, leading to some cohesion issues. But as the second half of the season approached and they gradually got used to where they were playing our form improved. We're going to have an extra 100k or so a month to spend on strengthening the squad which will definitely be used. Hopefully we can have a better season where relegation is not even entertained.

A busy opening to the season, and a pretty disastrous one until the last 2 games of the month. The win against Lorient will hopefully signal a change in our fortunes.

A strong month, but slightly deceptive as our first two games were against the promoted sides. But the win against Troyes is a positive, and we're mid table with momentum on our side despite the loss to Metz.

A couple of solid defensive efforts against strong teams sees us hold position in the playoff spots, with the possibility of jumping into the automatic spots should we keep this form up.

We were blessed with a lucky fixture list this month, as we win all our games except against top team Nimes. We're in an automatic promotion spot, but our last two games are against Valenciennes (H) and Guingamp (A). We have Paris at home to kick the month off, but I think the game against Valenciennes will determine our finishing position for the season.

We did our best, winning both of our home games including the crucial one against Valenciennes to go top of the league. It came down to the last game. We had 71 points, Nimes had 70, Brestois had 68. 4th place Guingamp were not getting any higher with 64 and so were out of the race. Nimes were away to 15th placed Chamois Niortais, and Brestois were at home to 18th placed Le Havre. The odds were certainly against us. It was obvious the players knew it too, as we faltered to lose our game, meaning that if Nimes at least drew and Brestois won we would be pushed down to 3rd on goal difference with everyone on 71.

It was out of our hands.

ab27d1e6983b63db934b855790595aaf.png

Chamois put in the performance of the season, ignoring the fact they had half the xG Nimes did to win 2-0, meaning we had secured at least second and automatic promotion. But we were only going to go second, right?

271e618661c98c33a58d65d3a3b75191.png

Wrong.

605f6b33fee2c301e5d5db3305e5a427.png

Unbelievably, we won the league in just our second season, securing promotion to Ligue A and finishing the redemption journey nearly 100 years in the making. The key now is to stay there and reap the rewards. With an inflated wage budget and some transfer money to spend, we'll do our absolute best.

Revamped and reinforced the squad, which we had to do if we don't want to get flogged in every game. There's no guarantee that won't happen, but with these players we'll be more competitive.

Goalkeeper

99b3b752b7c1f79f975bfe4ce24f3118.png

We have a huge upgrade in the goalkeeper department in the form of Schneller, a whole 5 points stronger than our previous number one Brugger. His affiliation with Bayern meant he didn't come cheap, but I hope he'll be worth the investment.

It's another brand new backline, with 2 of the 3 players not knowing how to play there. But their attributes are designed for them to play there, so here's hoping they learn quickly.

Once again 2 guys who don't know how to play their assigned position, but the attributes suggest otherwise.

Two of our most exciting buys, former Real Madrid product is expected to be our main goalscorer, but 18 year old Siaka Traore looks real special. A player like that playing in the Spanish 4th division, where he was inexplicably released (probably refused due to the club standing), and we managed to pick him up on a free and he's into Ligue A.

0f81408b4faf524b1179c3d0cdfebd5a.png

An unbeaten preseason, but it was all about getting these new guys used to their positions.

40d156f7cc3592ccecf3a4ceb14c61e2.png

This prediction should not come as a surprise, but we're better than the teams promoted alongside us, so 16th is the goal.

A month that could've been a lot better, where we blew a 3-1 lead at Nice to concede 3 goals in the last 10 minutes, which means fitness is still an issue. At least we beat Brestois and a good draw over Lille.

We avoided relegation on the final day, but it was the win over Reims that did it for us. A very tough opening season in Ligue A, but it's only going to get better from here. Hopefully.

2025 Preseason

A little more reliance on loans this season, but everyone that's joined is equally important.

Again, it's virtually a new defensive line, but these guys dwarf our previous line. They're primed for good seasons.

Right Wing Back

The young Spaniard made zero appearances for Zurich last season, but he'll be a first teamer here. He's taking to learning his new position pretty quickly too.

Defensive Midfielder

d48b94ce37c43f7245f64d3101f3bd36.png

This is probably my favourite signing of the season so far. Bought by a second tier Polish side for $160 from Mainz, he now starts in the 5th best league on the continent after we buy him for 16k. He's got all the right attributes for a DLP, and I'm excited to see him develop.

Central Midfielder

18 year old Luxembourger Oliveira takes the odd route of being loaned to a side two divisions above the club he actually plays for. But he absolutely deserves it.

Striker

A top notch preseason, very positive for the season now!

This is less positive, but we've defied the odds before.

Thanks mate :D

I think the only crossover at this stage was German striker Eric Hottmann, who we signed early in our Havelse save and also here in France. He's made 25 appearances in 2 and a bit seasons but he's definitely a squad player.

Had a bit of a keeper injury crisis, and our first game of the month had a youth keeper, and our second game saw a grey keeper filling in, a worry because we have a total of 7 keepers currently. At least we beat last place Reims.

A difficult fixture list this month, but an incredible win over Marseille, a draw to Monaco and a loss to Lille where we were up 4-2 early before losing the lead 4-4 at half time and then lost from there. There's definitely positive signs.
