A solid outing against the struggling Villa, although we probably could have done more.

Two goals up after 8 minutes, followed by a solid defensive performance limiting the visitors to 8 shots, and only one on target.

We cruised through the remainder of the match, Gowdy getting his customary goal to ice the cake on the hour.

We keep the pressure on City and they seem to be buckling, losing two of their last three, this time a shock loss to Sheffield Wednesday, sending us 7 clear at the top.

Up next...our FA Cup defence continues as we host Newcastle in the 4th Round.

A rotated squad to rest some legs, but they get the job done against The Magpies.

A brilliant hat-trick from Craig Hoston, and an absolute cracker from Stewart Kearney set up a brilliant victory.

A red card ended any chances of a Newcastle come back, even though they did score a late consolation, we go through to the 5th Round.

Another good performance from the rotated squad as we book a place at Wembley.

Carrying a 2-0 lead from the 1st Leg, we made a positive start, Ben Hamilton putting us 1-0 (3-0) up on 30 minutes.

After Simon Johnson scored on the hour, we traded goals in the final 10 minutes, and the visitors had a players shown a straight red for an ordinary challenge in injury time, but we were able to coast to victory.

While the Board has placed no importance on this competition, it has been an important opportunity to play some rotation players, and some young kids, and give them a chance to shine, which they have done brilliantly, and will now get a chance to fight for a trophy.

JAN 2041

January became a game of Fatigue Manager, and rotation, but boy didn't we turn it into something special.

Five straight wins in the League, as well as advancing through two FA Cup games, and making the League Cup Final, so it's clear the rotation policy and resting players is working.

A very happy Analyst this month as the defence stepped up a massive improvement, while the attack is still off the scale.

548736561_JANTransferHamiltonsold.png.e4b3c90aaf383f23f747274de0fc265d.png

Whiler still young, Hamilton was realistically never going to make it to the first team, so we cashed in, small fee, but there is some potential for more.

518145427_JANTransferLogansold.png.b995db4e2bbff60360de7f5db13a3ed5.png

Logan was a solid defender, but had fallen way down in the pecking order, and had barely player in the last few seasons. With youngsters coming through, he wanted to move on for a new challenge. A pretty decent fee for a 25 year old with limited future potential.

Only a matter of time before he becomes our all time leading scorer.

We meet Spurs twice, should win games in the League, and the Champions League knock out stages begin.

We got a draw, we should have won, we could have lost, and the score in this one could have ended up anything.

We lost two players on the eve of the game with Hodgson ill, and Hoey having a calf strain.

We absolutely peppered their goal, their keeper having a blinder denying us over and over.

An early Craig Hoston goal was wiped out by a silly penalty, but we couldn't find a winner.

This was the area we had improved over the last few seasons, by winning a lot of games we had previously drawn, so to slip back into old way was disappointing, and hopefully this was a one off..

After Gary Gowdy smashed home a penalty to wipe out the visitors early goal, he then went on to be the provider providing the assist for two of the three goals we scored in a 16 minute period either side of half time.

The Cottagers would score another near 70 minutes, but we closed it out in the last 20 minutes to collect the three points.

The Toffees have been woeful this season, and they were brutally put to the sword as we peeled off 9 goals in an incredible attacking performance.

We had run up a 3-0 lead in the first 6 minutes, and it was exciting to see two of our youngsters scoring, including Luca Pache in the first minute, scoring on his League debut, and Jay Lee in the 6th minute.

Everton pulled one back with their only shot on target for the match, but we'd put two more away by half time to take a 5-1 lead.

We could have been forgiven for cruising through the second half, but we went for the throat and just kept scoring, and by the time the dust settled, the carnage resulted in a 9-1 victory.

Even the bench got in on the act with three goals and two assists coming from the substitutes.

After a monster win over Everton, we copped a sobering reality check in Germany, showing the huge difference between a relegation bound League side, and the Leipzig team who have become one of the power houses in Europe.

The hosts started off the strongest and put away two goals in six minutes to have us 0-2 down by 35 minutes.

Aled Harden's good run of form continued burying an accurate cross from John Wright to get us back in the tie, 1-2 down at the break.

In the second half, we really picked up our game and took it to them, and almost got on level term when John Wright struck the post.

The big moment came on 75 minutes after Lewis Hoey was taken down in the box, giving Gary Gowdy the chance to level the scores. Gowdy made no mistake from the spot sending the keeper the wrong way and leveling the score at 2-2.

Both sides had chances for a winner in the final 15, but none could be taken.

In three weeks we do it all again at The Isle, though we hold the benefit of 2 away goals.

An epic battle in front of 90 thousand at Wembley, as our rotated squad took out our second trophy of the year, in a tight game against City.

Craig Hoston scored the only goal of the match, while Andy Cusato provided the assist, and pulled off a string of saves to keep City at bay.

Another chapter in the trophy chasing battles between these two clubs in the last few seasons, and probably not the last time this season.

Our attacking intent was on full display, as Wednesday woke up and chose violence with a string of dangerous fouls, luckily we ended up with no one hurt.

We were already 2-0 up before the hosts had a player sent off for a second bad tackle in the space of 15 minutes.

Form there the attack ran riot, Tamara a double, Gowdy his 40th League goal of the season, on the way to a 6-1 victory.

A quality performance as we continue our goal scoring spree this season.

MAR 2041 - Youth Intake

The class of 2041 has arrived, and after the December preview promised very little to be excited about, this years academy delivered exactly that, with a very underwhelming selection.

1669470963_YI1.png.51d60af463bd07decff07ac5cc980a72.png

The stars always make me wonder, as they very rarely seem to line up with CA/PA numbers.

280043753_YI2.png.3ae0284dfd1b560cfb0b6a000dce399d.png

One potentially good midfielder, another midfielder and defender that may make the rotation if they max their PA, a handful of players that may be useful for filling up the 18s and 23s over time, but there is also half, or more, of this intake that possibly won't even get picked up.

There are a few players with really good attribute score for 15/16 year olds, but with very little room for growth, they are unlikely to reach the level for first team.

Best 3

Spoiler

70124436_YI4.png.bdd0276f60f19a909bc96f0a0f6e55a6.png

A solid looking midfielder, with plenty of good attributes already. One of the only players with genuine first team potential.

1011055439_YI5.png.dd61a62ac81c357d147dee7e15b3638d.png

The only IoM native this year, and another reasonable looking midfielder. Has some decent attributes for a 15 year old, but reaching his maximum potential may still only see him as a rotation player.

2115249550_YI6.png.cd7b5dc636cde6f10128cf10710d9953.png

The best defender in the intake, with reasonable attributes, but again, possibly only likely to be a rotation player.

257240949_YI3.png.5abef64e34374478da26d5d38d300187.png

We picked up our third player from Jamaica, first from both Argentina and Ecuador.

Just the one Isle of Man native, seeing the ratio slip even further, especially compared to England.

Plenty of players from England, with at least 5 coming from Manchester, and we done our yearly raid of Rhyl in Wales

SO yeah, not much to get excited about this year, but after the last few years, we were probably due a few underwhelming intakes.

A tough day at Turf Moor as we failed to make the most of our many chances.

The hosts took an early lead after a defensive lapse, and we went to the break one down, despite several good chances.

After the break we continued to create chances, but couldn't put them away.

It took a Gary Gowdy screamer just after the hour mark to put us back on level terms.

Neither side could find a winner, but with the number of chances we created, this feels like one that got away.

Extra time, extra heart break as we go out on away goals in a thriller at The Isle.

Our second Cup game in three days that went to extra time, and our second Cup exit, and our second loss to Norwich this season.

We created a lot of chances but were pretty wasteful with our efforts, and it came back to haunt us as we had to come from behind twice to force extra time.

The hosts took the lead for a third time on 95 minutes, it took the wind out of our sails, and we were unable to conjure up a third equaliser.

A Quarter Final exit ends our FA Cup defence, and we also failed to meet the Board expectations as they wanted at least Semi Finals.

Up next...an international break as we have 43 players on duty, before facing Wolves at The Isle.

Tough couple of days in the cup competitions, with the defence looking the Achilles issue. Norwich always look like a tricky team to play too.

Though loosing Obinna doesn’t help at all.

It does mean you can concentrate on the league

Youth intake has a couple of players only at best in my eyes, unless they out perform their potential.

Two tough games back to back that I knew would be tricky. We actually played pretty well, and it was our attack that spluttered more than the defence. We created plenty of chances, more than enough to win both games, we just didn't get the ball in the net enough.

Yeah he is a massive loss at the wrong end of the season. His form had been a bit up and down since the last international break, but he was starting to come good again, so that hurts.

Sure does, seven games to go, all League games now.

From the trial game we've only taken about 6 of them so far, and I don't see the others doing enough on their trial period to get picked up. This will be the least amount of players we have kept from an intake.

A brilliant start to the month, edging City to win the League Cup, before thumping Wednesday. From there, the wheels fell off somewhat.

From there, we failed to beat struggling Burnley, before crashing out of the Champions League in an extra time, away goals loss to Leipzig, before suffering another extra time loss, this time in the FA Cup to round out the month.

We hold a 4 point lead, with a game in hand over City. It's been a two horse race for most of the season, but it's now official.

That immense attack has slammed in 109 goals in 31 games, Gary Gowdy has again broken the EPL record, currently sitting on 41, with 7 to play.

Two goals in four minutes in the final 10, made the scoreline look comfortable, but the game was closer than it should have been, for a lot longer than it should have been.

Our make up game against The Red Devils turned into a war of attrition at Old Trafford.

The referee was kept busy, handing out yellows like business cards, with no less than 9 cautions handed out. Amazingly both teams kept 11 players on the field.

The hosts had probably played the better of the two teams, as their defence kept our attack quiet, but really both teams struggled to create chances.

It looked like Man U would take the points when they took the lead with a cracking free kick in the final 10 minutes.

But in the shadows of full time, it would be two of our substitutes who would combine to rescue a dramatic late draw, and break the hearts of over 70,000.

A shaky start to our tough final 5 games.

A tale of two halves as we come from behind to rescue a point at Norwich.

This was our best result against them this season, but we have failed to beat them in three meetings.

It was all The Canaries in the first half as they scored early, and again just before half time to take a 0-2 lead at the break.

After a half time rev up, we were a completely different team in the second half, creating a string of chances, but it looked like it wasn't going to be our day.

Martin Challinor was brought down in the box, allowing Gary Gowdy to halve the lead from the spot, just after the hour mark.

Just as it was looking like we would finish 0 for 3 for the season against them, in the shadows of full time we earned a corner, from what would probably be the final chance of the game.

Neil Forrest swung in a corner and found the head of substitute Michael Pilkington who had snuck in unmarked to steal an equaliser, and a share of the points.

A pretty epic comeback, but again, we are leaving it to the wrong end of the season to be chasing games.

A slight improvement defensively, and our attack is still off the charts.

That’s the way I’m hoping it goes

One more win, and a another City stumble will get us there.

But I would prefer to win it in style by getting back to our attacking ways that have smashed out 120+ goals this season, and win it in style

It was no coincidence that we welcomed back Obinna Tamara, and he had an immediate impact steadying our midfield.

That resulted in us getting back to our attacking best, and thumping The Gunners, who are still looking to secure Champions League.

A double for Gowdy, incredibly his 46th and 47th League goals of the season, breaking the Premier League record again.

Aled Harden also had a day out, scoring a goal and setting up 2 others, taking him to 23 assists for the season, equaling a club record set way back in our first ever season.

It was a party atmosphere at The Isle, as we then had to wait to see the result of the Leicester V City match.

The Foxes done us a huge favour and held City to a draw, leaving us 7 points clear with 2 games to play, confirming us as Champions of England.

Up next...we can relax and enjoy our final two games, knowing that the title is ours regardless of results. We face Chelsea away, before finishing the season at home against City, which will be a massive party on The Isle.
