Stuniverse
Game date: Sunday 26th September 2021 Siena v Pesaro - Serie C Girone B (5) In the last few games we've relied on our defence so it was pleasing today to see our attackers leading the way with some clinical finishing. Tofol Montiel and Ottar Magnus Karlsson both scoring two goals a piece. Ottar also got an assist, our main striker Albert Paloschi contributed with two assists, and Matteo Darini set-up the other. It was a thriller at the Artemio Franchi Stadium and the atmosphere generated by a bumper fan day crowd was electric. At 4-0 and comfortable, I changed out the entire back-four and it was disappointing to concede two late goals. Leonardo Terigi, with all his experience, should've known better than to push their centre-forward in the back in the middle of our penalty area. That resulting penalty, which gifted Pesaro their second goal, was totally unnecessary.

I’m happy with the start we’ve made to our Serie C Girone B campaign, but I think we could’ve had a few more points. Overall, I think Siena have a good squad of players that has plenty of goals in them but, just when I think things are starting to come together, we fail to score and get a disappointing result. Still, it’s early days yet. Edited November 27, 2021 by Stuniverse
Stuniverse
Game date: Wednesday 29th September 2021 Press Conference - Imolese (a) Imolese may be rock bottom of Serie C Girone B with one draw and four defeats but we won't be underestimating them. They will be wanting a good result to move them out of the basement so we have to be ready and willing to work as hard as them and make sure it's us that gets the positive result. After our 4-2 win over Pesaro last time out, I see no reason to make any changes today. Edited November 27, 2021 by Stuniverse
Stuniverse
Game date: Wednesday 29th September 2021 Imolese v Siena - Serie C Girone B (6) I'm feeling both frustrated and disappointed after that game. Performance wise, we were almost there, we controlled the game and always looked the most likely to score. Unfortunately, we lacked quality in the final third today, we were nowhere near clinical enough. Our main striker, Alberto Paloschi, wasted a number of good opportunities by blasting the ball high and wide. We even changed things, giving us a second striker up top, but were unable to break the deadlock.

Stuniverse
Game date: Sunday 3rd October 2021 Press Conference: Grosseto (H) I wouldn't say we're on a poor run of form. We're unbeaten in our last six games in all competitions. The only thing is that, having won one and drawn three of our last four in Serie C Girone B, we need to find a way to turn more of those draws into victories. Ignacio Lores Varela comes back in today for Tommaso Bianchi as we go with a slightly changed system in a bid to help us convert more of our chances. Stuniverse
Game date: Sunday 3rd October 2021 Siena v Grosseto - Serie C Girone B (7) Yes, it was a relief to get the win in the end because, when Gosseto broke the deadlock on 73 minutes, it looked like we might not get anything out of the game. That would've been harsh, considering we created four times as many chances as they did and, on another day, Ottar Magnus Karlsson would've had a brace after an early header skimmed the crossbar and went over and then, later, at 1-1, another header rattled the crossbar. Once again though, our problem was not getting enough attempts on goal on target. 0-0 at half-time. After the break, we pushed Ottar Magnus Karlsson further forward. When we conceded to go 0-1, we reacted by bringing James Uhunamure on as a third striker and told the players to stop trying to work the ball into the box. And, fortunately, it worked. Alberto Paloschi was bundled over in the penalty area. Alberto got up, brushed himself down, and buried the spot-kick to level the scores. With time running out, Luigi D'Ignazio put over a looping cross to the far post that took their goalkeeper out of the play and Alberto Paloschi was there to head the ball into an empty net. We immediately shut-up-shop and managed the game out through five added on minutes. Edited November 27, 2021 by Stuniverse

Stuniverse
Game date: Sunday 10th October 2021 Press Conference: Pontedera (a) Pontedera are 18th in Serie C Girone B with one win, one draw and five defeats so far. Christian Mora and Lorenzo Peresin are back in training. We're delighted to have them back but we won't be risking either of them just yet. We'll be without Ottar Magnus Karlsson who's away on international duty with Iceland. Our thirds choice goalkeeper, Federico Mataloni, pulled a calf muscle in training this week. We're going back to the system we've used for most of the season today but we won't be looking to work the ball into the box. Tommaso Bianchi will come in for Ottar Magnus Karlsson, otherwise thre'll be no changes.
Stuniverse
Game date: Sunday 10th October 2021 Pontedera v Siena - Serie C Girone B (8) Another goalless stalemate where we were unable to test the goalkeeper enough and failed to break through. And it could've been so much worse because Pontedera hit the crossbar with only eight minutes remaining. We went two up top for the closing 20 minutes or so but it didn't really change anything. Stuniverse
Game date: Sunday 17th October 2021 Press Conference: Lucchese Libertas (H) We know all about the importance of this local rivalry with Lucchese Libertas and we'll be doing everything we can to make sure our I Bianconeri supporters are the one's smiling by the final whistle. We still need to find a way of scoring from more of our chances and we've been working in training on playing slightly more direct and with a higher tempo. Ottar Magnus Karlsson is back from international duty with Iceland and he'll start instead of Ignacio Lores Varela. Stuniverse
Game date: Sunday 17th October 2021 Siena v Lucchese Libertas - Serie C Girone B (9) I'm delighted to have got the win for our I Bianconeri supporters. There were 2,795 inside the Artemio Franchi Stadium today and they made a lot of noise, it was an electric atmosphere. We know how much beating our local rivals Lucchese Libertas means to them and we're delighted we could get the victory for them. First-half I thought we were much better, helped by Alberto Paloschi's early goal. Matteo Darini's cross was headed goalwards by Ottar Magnus Karlsson, their goalkeeper could only parry Ottar's header and Alberto was on hand to score. Ottar Magnus Karlsson did get on the scoresheet himself though, another cross from Matteo Darini and, this time, their goalkeeper couldn't get anywhere near it. After the break, we lost some of the momentum we'd had first-half, as Lucchese Libertas put us under pressure. They did pull one goal back but we were able to hold on for the win. Stuniverse
Game date: Wednesday 20th October 2021 Press Conference: Montevarchi (a) This will be a difficult challenge for us away against 4th placed Montevarchi who are one point above us after five wins, two draws and two Serie C Girone B defeats so far this season. Our medical team are still advising that Christian Mora is only ready to play 45 minutes, after returning from his ankle injury, but I think it's time for him to be on the bench in case we need him, or can give him some playing time to help his return to full fitness. After our win against local rivals Lucchese Libertas last time out, we're looking to go with an unchanged team. Stuniverse
Game date: Wednesday 20th October 2021 Montevarchi v Siena - Serie C Girone B (10) I think we saw today something close to what we know this Siena team is capable of. Against a very good Montevarchi team, in their own back yard, we took the game to them from the kick-off, looked the more likely to score, and were deservedly 2-0 up after half an hour with goals from Ottar Magnus Karlsson and Alberto Paloschi. Montevarchi pulled a goal back after 35 minutes with a brilliant, individual goal from Diego Gambale. They seemed to grow in confidence after that, put us under some pressure, and we saw why they are flying high in Serie C Girone B. We defended resolutely, though, and they didn't really look like equalising as we restricted them to just three attempts on goal all game. Tofol Montiel calmed our nerves late on with a superb strike to give us a 3-1 lead. Edited November 30, 2021 by Stuniverse
Stuniverse
Game date: Sunday 24th October 2021 Press Conference: Pistoiese (H) After two wins on the spin, and three victories in our last four Serie C Girone B games, we're looking to keep that momentum going against a mid-table Pistoiese. We won't be underestimating Pistoiese but if we put the right amount of effort in, we're confident of getting another positive result. A couple of changes today. Luigi D'Ignazio stubbed a toe against Montevarchi so Alessandro Favelli comes in for him with Ricardo Farcas getting a place on the substitute's bench. Christian Mora has fully recovered from his ankle injury and gets a start instead of a very unfortunate Matteo Darini. Stuniverse
Game date: Sunday 24th October 2021 Siena v Pistoiese Serie C Girone B (11) I'm thrilled with such a convincing 4-1 victory over Pistoiese and delighted we were able to send our I Bianconeri supporters home from the Artemio Franchi Stadium with great big smiles on their faces. Alberto Paloschi will take the plaudits with his hat-trick, and quite rightly so, but I thought Christian Mora, on his return from an ankle injury, and Tofol Montiel combined brilliantly down the right and were magnificent. Between them, Christian and Tofol had a hand in all four of our goals. Tofol Montiel was tripped in the penalty area and Alberto Paloschi buried the spot-kick with ease. Tofol Montiel then provided the crosses for Alberto Paloschi to fire home his, and our second, and then for Ottar Magnus Karlsson to head home at the far post. It was Christian Mora who then turned provider for Alberto Paloschi to complete his hat-trick with a close range header. The only time Pistoiese caused us any real problems was when they equalised for 1-1 in the 22nd minute but, even then, Christian Mora made a superb sliding tackle, only for the ball to run on to Lorenzo Pinauti to score with a fine shot from 25 yards out. Stuniverse
Game date: Sunday 31st October 2021 Fermana v Siena - Serie C Girone B (12) Well this one didn't go to plan at all and that's a difficult one to accept as I felt we were the better team. We created plenty of chances but didn't get enough on target. When Simone Moschin in their goal is awarded Man of the Match it speaks volumes. Christian Mora hitting the post with a shot from just outside the penalty area was the closest we came to scoring. Their goal was down to a miscommunication at the back between Christian Mora and our goalkeeper Ivan Lanni. Christian should've left the ball for Ivan to claim but, instead, he cleared it high across the penalty area and Don Bolsius beat Alessandro Favalli in the air to head into an empty net. After that, Fermana had something to defend and they defended it robustly A frustrating game all round for us. We did look to push more players forward in the last 20 minutes or so, with a change of shape, but we were unable to break Fermana down. Stuniverse
Game date: Sunday 7th December 2021 Siena v Ancona Matelica - Serie C Girone B (13) That was almost the perfect game in front of our I Bianconeri supporters inside the Artemio Franchi Stadium. Our back-five, including goalkeeper Ivan Lanni, were absolutely superb in restricting Ancona Matelica to only one attempt on goal all game. It was a case of being patient in a tight game. We took the lead through Tofol Montiel after an hour and had two goals disallowed for offside either side of that - a shot from Alberto Paloschi and a header from Claudio Terzi. At 1-0, our defence really kept us in it by dominating their attack and, late on, two substitutes settled the nerves, Giuseppe Caccavallo scored from the penalty spot and Tommaso Bianchi fired home from just outside the penalty area.
