I don't know what to say really. We were flying in the league, and suddenly we hit a wall! Well, it might because we were missing four and five key players in those two games. We're still on top though, a place I could only dream of at the start of the season.

Twp more unbeaten months, and we're still top of the league! It is close though, and we will be facing CSV in the first game of the new year. Just by taking a quick look at the goalscorers it is easy to see who's our key player... To keep a hold of him in the January transfer window is the key to the rest of the season.

 

We were very close to beating NAC Breda, but two silly goals in the last 10 mins saw us go out of the cup. I am very happy with the performance though, as NAC Breda play in the Eredivisie.

That is the first time we get a "potential to go far". I believe that is a sign of a good player coming through. Fingers crossed!

Transfer Window January 2029

We started January with bids for Michael van Duinen (YP07a) and I thought we would lose him. But after rejecting all the offers that came our way, the bids stopped. So he is here for to the summer at least!

The most surprising thing was the interest for our best center-back Lorenzo D'Amore (YP07c). The picture below shows the biggest offer we got for. This was massive, as it would have made the finances go from red to green. In the end tough, I rejcted it, as he is an important player for us. And if he can help us in to the second tier, I believe that is worth much more!

Youth Intake 2029

We had a change of HoYD after last season, as the old one retired. The new guy has a Balanced personality, and the old one was Driven.

For the first time we "only" have three players with 5* potential ability. Two of those players are very close to starting though, as the left mid and the goalkeeper position is two of the weakest positions at the moment.

 

Should be a decent left winger for us.

 

This is the DM that the HoYD said "has potential to go far". I can't see it to be honest. Let us hope he proves me wrong.

My knowledge of personalities is not the best, so I don't know how bad "Light-Hearted" is.

 

This guy looks pretty good. 16 eccentricity is not something I want in my goalkeepers, but other than that he looks decent. He has a good personality as well.

We beat CSV, the only team that is close to us at the moment, then lost to Hoek, a team that was last at the time. Typical...

This will be close all the way to the end of the season. Only two points ahead, and five games to go.

We actually did it! Back to back promotions was not something I anticipated at this stage of the save!

End of the 2028/2029 Season

It's the same story as every season. We're scoring the most goals and conceding more than we should. In the end it does not matter though, as we won promotion! Next season we will play in the second tier of Dutch football. Absolutely unreal to be honest. I thought we would be closer to the bottom of the league. And to top it all of, we're turning full Pro!

 

Maybe, just maybe we will be able to give Michael van Duinen (YP07a) and Soner Koyuncu (YP06b) the contracts they want for us to keep a hold of them.

 

We have gone from 0.5* to 1* club reputation.

There could be only one player that got this award. 34 games for the club this season and 44 goals! Currently at the U20 World Cup with the Netherlands.

Pre Season 2029/2030

I wanted to test the team against other teams we're up against this season, and the three first games was against opposition from our league. And if this is how we will play over the season, we're in for a struggle! Something I knew before these pre season games by the way...

 

Squad

Our two top rated players in terms of current ability will leave us. Soner Koyuncu (YP06b) at the end of the season, and Michael van Duinen (YP07a) after the next season. They are the only players that have refused to sign a new contract.

Weakest positions in the starting eleven is the left CM and the LW. We have a decent looking central mid coming through with the Daniël Oosterhuis (YP08g), and he is not that far behind. Our GK position is also a weak point for us, with two players with 5* potential, but now they sit at 2*.

 

Just to show how good our striker is, take a look at this

He is picked in the "Media Dream Eleven" as the striker. I think that is pretty good for a newly promoted side!

 

Oh man, this will be a though season.

 

We are in the red now, but at the end of the season this should be green, as we got 2.37million in TV rights.

We're the team to watch this season. There is a crazy amount of goals in our games. October was an amazing month for us, with twelve out of twelve points! We won three of the games with just one goal, and every game could have gone either way to be honest. And to put in another way, our two GKs have the highest avg rating at the club at the moment. That is sying quite a bit.

We got knocked out of the cup in the first round this year. It was a pretty good performance by the boys, as I rotated heavily, and used a lot of youngsters.

November/December 2029

I can almost not believe this to be honest. We're doing so well, and are only five points behind the top team.

The only reason that we're this good at the moment has to be the how fast the players have been growing after they got full time contracts.

 

Three examples:

Yvo Doesburg (YP08e)

This is the growth of this player since he got a full time contract. That was eight months ago. He started the season as a 2.5* CA center-back, now he has 4* CA. Now he has taken the place of Richard Otten (YP06a) in the starting eleven.

 

Armand van Sas (YP08a)

Has gone from a 3* CA left mid to a 4* CA left mid in a few months. He played almost every game last season as well (30), and ended the season with 4 goals, 4 assists and an avg rating of 6.64. This season he has already passed that in 17 games played, and just keeps improving! There was almost no improvement last season, but as I said, after the full time contract this happened.

 

Marc Diks (YP07d)

This is his growth the last six months. Not that crazy, but I think this is pretty good considering we have the worst facilites possible.

It has been an incredible season so far! Far better than I could have hoped for to be honest.

 

This is Cambuur's league history. There seems to be a bit of yo-yoing the later years! They are currently 11th in the Eredivisie.

We're still doing far better than we should to be honest, and we are very close to clinching a place in the play-offs!

I fear however, what will happen when Michael van Duinen (YP07a) leaves us, as he is carrying the team right now with his insane goalscoring.

Youth Intake 2030

I'm not too happy with this youth intake. We get one really good prospect, and two-three decent. But this year we have a bunch of bad personalities.

 

Will most likely take the right back position after Soner Koyuncu (YP06b) leaves us at the end of the season. He has a very good personality, and should grow in the right back spot quickly.

 

Second best potential ability of the trialists according to the HoYD. I can't see it to be honest. I don't know where to play him!

These two last months is perhaps how the results should have gone this season, as we lost three out of five league games. We actually got a spot in the play-offs, even though we finished eight.

End of the 2029/2030 Season

This was a very good first season in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie for us, with a very good 8th place finish. We scored the most goals by far this season, and conceded almost the same amount. As I said in a earlier post, I think we will really struggle when our best player, and top scorer, Michael van Duinen (YP07a) leaves us. And that will be at the end of next season. We don't have any talents of the same quality in the striker position at the moment. That is my only wish for next years youth intake!

Soner Koyuncu (YP06b) ended up with 129 games for us. For now at least. Who knows what will happen?

 

 

I tried to negotiate a new contraco for Michael van Duinen (YP07a) just before I posted this, and for the first time ever he was positive to sign a new contract. It sucks that his contract demands are absolutely stupid. He wants 2.5x times the amount we can pay him. If I had the money, I would agree to this though, as he is SO important.

New Signing!

I have brought back Reynir Hreiðarsson (YP05a) on loan, the best player from the youth intake five years ago. He and Michael van Duinen (YP07a) should form a deadly partnership up top. Hopefully I can keep him at the club after the loan as well.

 

He has not played that many games since leaving us.

Wow! What a start! We've won all four games so far! We even beat FC Groningen, one of the favourites to win the league this season. If we can keep this up I will be very surprised to be honest.

Reynir Hreiðarsson (YP05a) got an injury the day after the Groningen game, and is out for 7-9 weeks. Thankfully Mees Roseboom showed us why he has been so important for us the last few years.

We've hit a bit of a wall recently. There has been a lot of injuries, and some of the problems have come from that. We're still fourth though, and that is a lot higher than I tought we would be.

Still in the top five. When we're full strength we can beat anyone. But when we lost a couple of players to injury or cards we can't beat anyone it seams.

Two good GK prospects, is one to many! Can't play two at the same time. And a decent attacking mid, could be useful. If could design the next intake myself, I would pick a striker and a left mid.

New Signing

Another one of our former players was available on a free transfer. And of course I signed him.

After he left us he transfered twice for a decent amount of money. Never got the chance at any of these three clubs though.

There goes our best player. He is leaving for China on a tree transfer. The amount he will earn every week is about 4x the wages we could afford.

Two good months in January and February was followed by a pretty bad March. Even though it started with a very good 6-1 win against Go Ahead. We were still the best team this period, and with that got a place in play-offs!

If you don't know the rules in this league, it is like this: There are four periods over the course of one season, with nine games in each period. The best team from every period gets an play-off spot.

Youth Intake 2031

This was a very good youth intake! Cüneyt Güney (YP11a) looks very, very promising!

 

A lot of yellow and green here. And 4* CA at 16 years old is pretty insane to be honest.

 

One of the two goalkeepers that the HoYD highlighted in the youth preview. And this guy look decent! We have a lot of talent in goal at the moment.

Dutch Cup

I just realised I forgot to add the Dutch Cup to the update!

It was a very good cup run for us this season, even beating De Graafschap on the way, a team in the Eredivisie! We got knocked out by Feyenoord, a team that's fighting in the top of the Eredivisie.

Eredivisie Play-Offs 2031

After the last two months of the season, we actually finished third in the league, just one point behind Roda JC. We could have passed them in the last game if they had lost and we won. We won 8-2, our biggest win the Keuken Kampioen Divisie. That meant we had another chance for promotion, through the play-offs.

A possible six games stood between us and the Eredivisie. Could we do the impossible?!

 

We were 0-4 down before the 20th minute, and I thought we had screwed it all up in the first game. We fought back however, and in the end it finished 4-6. We should have won it in my opinion. A lot of away goals for us at least.

 

And in the end the away goals is what helped us to the next round! In this game we were the team that were 4-0 up after the first half, and even they scored two goals pretty late, we managed to see it through!

 

Next team we faced was Willem II, one of the two teams that beat us both games this season. It was a pretty close game, even though we scored five goals. They even missed a penalty! A 5-2 lead in to the second game. Could it go wrong?

 

Nope! We got a draw in the second game, and won 6-3 over the two games. Next up was the final two games, this time we faced a team from the Eredivisie.

 

We won the first game against them! It was a pretty close game, and we were lucky not to concede more goals. In the end though, Richard Otten scored an own goal. Could that prove fatal for us?

 

No it was not! And we did what I thought was impossible! We're actually playing in the Eredivisie next season! I actually think we deserved to win these two games, at least the last one.

Both Reynir Hreiðarsson (YP05a) and Michael van Duinen (YP07a) will be leaving at the end of the season though, and I have no idea how we will survive in the top league without them. They have been responsible for 80 goals this season(!).

End of the 2030/2031 Season

What a season this was! After finishing third, we won the promotion play-offs, and we're playing in the Eredivisie next season. An incredible achievement from the players, and this happened a lot earlier than I thought was possible. We did it at least five seasons before I had anticipated. I thought we would be stuck in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie for quite some time. We actually scored four goals less than last season, but conceded 40 goals less as well!

 

I know I have said this in almost every post I've made in the last couple of weeks, but I'm a bit scared of how we'll fare in the top league next season. Especially since both our best strikers are leaving. I will try to buy Reynir Hreiðarsson (YP05a), but as of now he does not want to join us.

We have a lot of similar players that can play the striker position, but all of them are so bad in comparison to our former strikers. I've been thinking about training Cüneyt Güney (YP11a) as a striker, but I feel he will be wasted there. Even though he is better as a striker than Michael van Duinen (YP07a).

Another position we're struggling a bit right now is the left winger position.

 

Very small chance of survival this year.

 

New training facilities and a bigger stadium made the board take a pretty big loan to pay it all off.

We're doing pretty good, all thing considered, and have more points than I thought we would have at this point. If we can keep two teams below us, I will be happy. A draw against N.E.C was brilliant as well!
