Hi was thinking of getting a MacBook Air and the only game I would be playing is football manager, should run fine?

Thanks

FM24 will run fine.  FM25 next year is a huge question mark as we don't know what the system requirements will be as yet.

Hi Gangor,

me again I know I’m a pain but I’ve managed to up my budget and would appreciate on thoughts on the below:

thanks Neil

If you're comfortable paying the extra, then you are getting an even better CPU here, as well as a better graphics card.  Hard to say for sure that it's worth the extra £400 if FM if the only game you're playing though.

If FM is the only game you're thinking of, then I'd probably consider this one (from the previous post) as better value for money.

Brilliant thanks, roughly how many leagues could you comfortably load with this?

Hi, need a new laptop to solely play FM 24. Really don’t want to spend  more than £500. Ideally want something that will good for FM 25 so are these any good.

Or is it worth the extra £150 for 16gb?

or open to any other suggestions?

As per the OP, we can't comment on how many leagues you'd expect to run given everyone's expectations on what is acceptable for processing speed are different.

The first one is fine for FM24.  FM25 is harder to predict as we don't know what the system requirements will be, so we're working with the assumption that a dedicated graphics card will be needed for 3D.

On that basis, the cheapest thing I can see that fits that criteria is this one, which is refurbished but with a 12 month warranty: https://www.laptopstation.co.uk/products/medion-gaming-laptop-crawler-e30-12th-generation-core-i5-16gb-ram-512gb-ssd-nvidia-rtx-graphics-15-6-144hz-fhd-screen

Hey,

Would anyone be able to advise me on the following desktop -https://www.argos.co.uk/product/3266085?clickPR=plp:1:6

I know the graphics card isn't great but I do any play FM on the PC and usually tend to play in 2D.

Good deal for the price, and will definitely be fine for 2D.

Thanks for the input. Will the graphics be real bad for 3d? I read the processer is pretty good for FM and should be able to do a healthy number of leagues and db?

I also looked at this but its double the price Buy HP Victus TG02-0019na i5 16GB 1TB RTX3060 Gaming PC | Desktops | Argos

You'll definitely need to use lower presets for 3D.  Are you dead set on buying from Argos or are you happy to buy elsewhere?  If so, there may be better deals out there but I'd need to have a look around.

Unfortunalty, yes. The buy now pay later option with Argos is my preference at the moment. My thinking was to get the Levono one as it was reasonably cheap and then upgrade again in a year or two. My current PC takes around 2 hours to holiday a full season with small database and 1 nation.

This is another option:

The CPU and graphics card aren't quite as good, but will still do the job and will enable you to play in 3D.  Will probably save in the long run rather than buying a PC now and then upgrading further on down the line.

Ok so I have ruled the first out as the graphics card is worse than my current one!

Between these two, which one is better to get? I can afford either.

The HP is definitely the better all-round - I was just offering a cheaper alternative that would still be good enough based on your comments.  :)

I am using a 6800

Weird..... the 6800XT is equivalent to the RTX 3080, which should see no issues with FM - I'm getting solid performance from the considerably weaker GTX 1660 Super.

Have you checked that your drivers are all up to date?

It's less of an issue with Intel processors than it is AMD.  I'd still say it's fine.

Hi all,

Long time admirer of FM here, playing up until FM13 and more recently back into CM01/02 and now looking to get back into FM24 as my recent laptop has given up.

I’m looking for a laptop at around £450 top budget and it can be refurbished to reduce cost.

The ability to watch in 3D would be nice and willing to watch in lower settings and have around 5-10 leagues loaded. I’m not too fussed at this moment in time to ensure it is FM25 ready but it would be nice to be in with a chance if poss…

I really have no idea of laptops and have been looking around and would welcome suggestions. Laptop will be used for light surfing (so my wife thinks!) and purely FM.

Seen the below but really unsure on what is best out there so will be led by those on this forum.

Out of those, I think it's pretty much tied between these two:

They're both very close in terms of CPU and graphics performance.

For a little bit more, you can get this one with the same CPU, but 16GB of RAM rather than 8GB:

The CPU in that seems to score similarly to the i5 in the other one on the benchmark sites, so I'd still be inclined to go with the 16GB RAM option.

What we thinking for fm25?

I know we don’t know specs and stuff but on the off chance?

Will it run fm24 smooth and fine for large databases with max players and alot of leagues?

graphics wise good enough too?

FM25 is harder to say - we don't have any indication of system requirements yet and I have asked!  I am working on the assumption that a dedicated graphics card is a good idea for thinking of FM25 and beyond.

Graphics wise, this will be fine for medium settings on 3D, possibly higher.

In terms of how many leagues/database size etc we don't comment on that specifically as everyone's expectation of what a good processing speed is will be different.

Agree with this. Better to put the money aside for your next laptop and upgrade a bit sooner. The one Kev recommends is fine for now and will almost certainly run FM25 just fine.

Edit: might be worth looking at an extra 8gb of RAM though. It's cheap right now and will improve your experience, especially if you like to open a bunch of Chrome tabs while playing, like I do

Nope, spec is identical apart from SSD capacity.

In terms of other aspects, the Asus appears to have more USB ports, but the HP seems to have the better battery.

Other than that, performance for FM should be the same for both.

Hi all, I need to replace my laptop to something that will support FM24 and ideally FM25.

I appreciate that nothing is confirmed in regards to sys requirements for FM25 yet, but would appreciate some guidance.

I live in the Netherlands but can buy from the EU or in the UK .

No fixed budget, under 1k would be nice, but room for 1.5k

15-17 inch, no other preferences.

Thanks

Looking at getting back into fm after a missing the last 2. Work laptop has packed in so looking at this https://www.currys.co.uk/products/lenovo-yoga-7-14-2-in-1-laptop-amd-ryzen-7-512-gb-ssd-grey-10254255.html

It’s perfect for work just wondering how it would run fm24( ideally in 3d) and potentially fm25.

If not could you recommend anything for a similar price?

Hi there.  If you can provide examples of sites you'd use in the Netherlands as well as which sites from the UK you know will ship to you and I'll have a look.

When it comes to FM25, I'd not currently be confident about suggesting anything without a dedicated graphics card, just to be on the safe side.
