Hello all,

i wanted to buy a new Notebook to play FM24 with many leagues (6-7 and a Large database)

And hopefully play FM25

Is this one good:

Angebot des Tages: ASUS Vivobook 17X Laptop | 17,3" FHD entspiegeltes IPS Display | Intel Core i9-13900H | 16 GB RAM | 1 TB SSD | Intel Iris X | Windows 11 | QWERTZ Tastatur | Indie Black https://amzn.eu/d/9Lbi4Kt

?

The CPU is about as good as it gets, but with regards to FM25 you need to be considering one with a dedicated graphics card.

Something like this for example: https://www.amazon.de/ASUS-entspiegeltes-Display-i7-12700H-Tastatur/dp/B0BZ6GZNXP/ref=sr_1_2?__mk_de_DE=ÅMÅŽÕÑ&keywords=ASUS%2BTUF%2BGaming%2BF15%2B15.6"%2BGaming%2BLaptop&qid=1700519196&s=computers&sr=1-2&th=1

Literally the only game I play on a laptop is FM, chiefly because I can, and it's convenient while doing other things and while commuting.

My XPS13 just died, 1185G7 and Intel Iris XE. Was starting to struggle with FM23 tbf.

I think I'm going to need at least a dGPU going forward in a new laptop, likely at least a 4050/60 that should see me through another three years, but I'm torn on CPU.

Does AMD offer anything that's similar to the 13700H/HX? Or more efficient, with less heat?

Do I even need a 13700H/HX when an i5 might do for FM?

Any thoughts welcome, I'm really more of a desktop builder so finding a laptop that's more like the Omen/XPS style and less like the MSI/ROG/Zephyrus style with a decent CPU is becoming a confusing area.

At the moment I've been eyeballing an Omen 16 with 13700HX and a 4060 for about £1400, but I'm concerned it's just going to be hot, loud and overkill for FM.

Any of them would be fine but the one in the middle is the best. We still don't know what the requirements are for FM 25 and so it's best to err on the side of better graphics performance which is what that gives you.

Yes, they're all suitable.  I'd be inclined to go for the MSI one due to the better graphics card.

Hi. Looking for a desktop to mainly play FM with the following specs or similar r

My PC specs are Intel Core i9-13900K 3.00GHz, GeForceRTX 4080, 32GB RAM, 2x 2TB SSD

Pc Specs

Yes, that spec is absolutely fine.  But if you haven't already bought it, you could downgrade the card to a 3060 or 4060, which is still more than enough for FM, and I'd be shocked if it wasn't for FM25 when it comes out, and you'd save yourself a fortune.  I'd also question whether you need a 2nd 2TB SSD if your main use for the PC is FM.

No, you don't need the i7-13700H, however you will find it processes the game quicker than the 13th gen i5.  However, the 13th gen i5 chips are still superb, so you may want to go that route to save yourself a bit of money.

Perhaps check reviews for things regarding noise and heat, it's really impossible to say personally without trying the rig myself.

According to the Spezifikation the graphiccard is dedicate

I have following options:

Angebot des Tages: HP VICTUS Gaming Laptop | 15,6" FHD IPS 144Hz Display | AMD Ryzen 5-5600H | 16GB DDR4 RAM | 512GB SSD | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti | Windows 11 Home | QWERTZ Tastatur | Dunkelgrau https://amzn.eu/d/1yCt2su

Or maybe this one

Angebot des Tages: MSI Thin GF63 12VF-298, 39,6 cm (15,6 Zoll) FHD, 144 Hz, Intel Core i7-12650H, 16 GB DDR4-3200, 512 GB SSD RTX 4060 Laptop GPU, Windows 11 Home, Schnelles PCIe SSD-Systemlaufwerk, QWERTZ Tastatur https://amzn.eu/d/2VGpuZU

But the HP would be my first choice.

The HP is a year older and also a tier lower for both processor and graphics. It would be fine for FM but significantly worse than the MSI. Looking at the listings, the MSI looks like a good deal, but the HP looks to be 50-100 euros more than I'd want to pay for that specification.

Hi

I'm looking for a new laptop for FM24 but with FM25 in mind. It was also be used for work with basic Microsoft office set-up and adobe pdf, and streaming tv (netflix etc). I tend to have multiple internet tabs open at the same time (not sure if that makes a difference).

I like to play FM with all additional graphical add-ons (facepacks, logos, badges, backgrounds, etc) and like to have around 20 leagues set as playable, with the largest possible database of players.

Would an i7, 16gb RAM, 1TB SSD be excessive? And does it matter which gen i7? Finally, regarding the graphics card, I literally have no idea what spec I'd need taking the above into account.

Cheers

Allright

So the MSI with i7-12650h the RTX4060 8GB

And 16 GB RAM is okay?

Yes it should be fine. I wouldn't recommend less than 16gb (except maybe for the extremely budget conscious) and it would likely be possibly to upgrade it later if needed

No, that's not excessive. With Chrome's tendency to bloat in memory it would even be worth getting 32gb of RAM if you have the option - it's comparatively inexpensive right now. The current generation is 13th (7000 for Ryzen) and each generation you go back takes 15-20% off the maximum performance. Good deals can often be had on last year's products (ie 12th gen or 6000 series), but going further back can actually be worse value.

In terms of graphics cards, we don't know what FM25 will require/be able to take advantage of so it's really hard to say. My instinct says that you'd get 90% of the experience with any modern discrete GPU (ie 3050 up), though I'd say the sweet spot is probably the 4060/7600s at the moment. I've seen a few i7/Ryzen 7 last gen laptops equipped with 4060's going for around £900 which I think is pretty good value. Beware though that many of the cheaper gaming laptops are going to have RGB lights galore and may not be appropriate if you're going to do work stuff in a professional environment.

According to MSI's webpage the RAM is in slots, so technically you could unscrew the back, take out the old DiMMs and replace them with a 32gb kit in the future, should you so wish. I found one that costs around £80 (90 euros), though note the price of RAM is quite volatile and it's very low right now.

Ok great thank you.

The CPU is a little better, but the graphics card is quite a lot weaker.

Given we don't really know what kind of spec FM25 will need for max graphics settings yet, I'd still be more inclined to go with the one at Currys because of the better graphics card.

after looking for a new laptop to play current and as many future fm games as i can this seems like the best option for my budget and just wanted to check and see what you guys say and if you agree. the budget i had was supposed to be £500 but i’ve managed to stretch it up to £650 because it seems like this is worth spending the extra money on. also a second question is would i need to also purchase some sort of security/antivirus. Sorry to be annoying but it’s been a while since i’ve bought a new laptop.

That would be fine, and personally when it comes to Antivirus I just use the in-built Windows Defender and haven't had any issues.

The screen for that laptop is 60hz refresh rate, from my very limited knowledge that seems to be a problem for gaming?

Not really, unless you're playing things like shooting games competitively in which case you'd want a higher refresh rate.

For FM, 60Hz is absolutely fine.  And for almost everything else gaming-wise as well.

Thank you Kev,

Yes I've built quite a few i5 desktops for people and they're excellent value gaming chips, as is the 7600/7600X.

I've had a look at the 7840HS based on your link there in trying to comprehend the differences to Intel in terms of performance/power/thermals and it seems there's several options for AMD from H (45W) through HS (35W) and on to HX (45W+OC'ing). Seems that they tend to be close to the comparable Intel chip whilst generally making for a cheaper laptop price. I'm going to look at some efficiency/thermals reviews to better understand which brand to go for. Thankyou for the recommendation.

I'm not really interested in playing other games then FM. My watching some streams or editing some photos after holiday or so. jjust as a side hobby.
I really dont know how much i need to invest to get a smooth setup. Maybe u have some advice. (thinking about 2000 euro or something like that. hope its enough)
