It has a better CPU and graphics card, as well as 16GB RAM.

You do get a warranty with this site, and over the last few years I've bought three laptops from them myself.

Oh right that’s good to hear then. I will look at buying this! Thanks so much man.

I have just found this and seems to be same specs & it’s new?

It's not the same specs - different CPU and integrated graphics, rather than a dedicated graphics card.  The CPU in the refurb model does score higher in the benchmark tests.

@kevhamster @Smurf thoughts on this?

https://www.argos.co.uk/product/3117017?clickSR=slp:term:asus gaming laptop:2:45:1

Probably feel I should wait till Black Friday for a better gaming laptop. However, vital I find a laptop or PC that can also handle FM25 in couple of years time. Any recommendations?

Will revisit during Black Friday time. Budget is £800.

It's ok, but if you don't mind a smaller SSD this is a better deal:

https://www.currys.co.uk/products/msi-cyborg-15-15.6-gaming-laptop-intel-core-i5-rtx-3050-512-gb-ssd-10251897.html

Much newer CPU with the same graphics card, and still has 16GB RAM and is cheaper than the one from Argos.

It is of course possible waiting until Black Friday will see you get a better deal, but until it happens you can't be 100% sure.

If you do want a 1TB SSD, this one is £40 and has the better CPU: https://www.currys.co.uk/products/acer-nitro-5-an5155853we-15.6-gaming-laptop-intel-core-i5-rtx-3050-1-tb-ssd-10254545.html

Afternoon,

i am looking at a new laptop for everyday use aswell as FM. I have narrowed it down, using this post aswell as a bit of my own research. Could you tell me which would be the better or if there is an alternative around the £700 mark specifically from Currys?

I'm thinking about buying a new laptop for FM24/25 and I've been recommended this laptop below:

What do you think about this one please? Any advice or experience with this model?

I don't have experience of the specific model, but the spec is very good.

Thanks for getting back to me. Do you think this is the best graphic card for the price and I'm guessing that this would run the game well?

Not sure if this is the right page. I’m looking for either 1 wide(34+ inch) or 2 regular(24-27) inch monitors to both work and stream fm. Ideally they’re height adjustable as they’ll go over my works laptop and the laptop I use for FM. Any advice is great and budget is around 400 quid or 800 for the one wide screen one. Regards James

Hey, just thought I might revisit this now there are some offers around.

This is great value for a current gen gaming laptop: https://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-FA617NS-7-7735HS-RX7600S-Graphics/dp/B0BN661S2F

This also seems decent if you particularly want to shop at Argos: https://www.argos.co.uk/product/3414882

With Black Friday starting I have found some deals and would appreciate some  feedback as to which to go for.

Mainly use for general home office / web browsing and of course to play FM.  Also some light steam gaming like civilization and old school command and conquer.  Is it necessary to go for a "gaming laptop".   What are the most important factors for FM and the like above

Budget is £600 max

Lenovo laptop 14" Ryzen 7 7735HS with Radeon 680m iGPU and a decent screen. £550 although I have a 10% code

All the above have 16GB ram and 512GB sotrage as standard.

Or a curveball  which is slightly slower CPU and less storage  £549

Hi all,

I’m new to the forum, and I’m not sure if this is allowed but here goes.

I’m looking for a laptop to play fm24/25. I play my shooters on ps5 so the laptop will be only for fm and some YouTube/spotify while playing fm. Could anyone have some suggestions which laptop to buy? Could also be an older MacBook? I’m based in the Netherlands the sites are as followed:

I'd be more inclined to go for one of the higher priced two, purely because the 1650 isn't great as a graphics card, but from an FM perspective any of them are fine.

If you can afford the top whack one it's a decent deal and decent spec.

I'd definitely suggest a gaming laptop at the moment, as we don't know what the required specs will be for FM25, only that minimum requirements will increase.  On that basis, I'd go with the gaming Lenovo.

hi i’m looking to get a new laptop that can play fm24,25 and as many future ones as it can run but don’t have a massive budget. The cheaper the better really but can stretch up to about £600-650 is needed and you think is worth the extra price but would prefer something cheaper

Absolute aim is to get a top top laptop under £850 which will also be powerful / good enough for FM25.

Morning All,

Am in the market for a new laptop - £900 is ideal top budget, but could stretch to £1000 if it makes a good enough difference. FM and web browsing is my main use for it, but also would like to be able to play other games available from Game Pass. It'll be nice to play FM without the cooling tray I use at the moment as my laptop gets so hot from it!!

I've seen the options above including the Currys ones, theres a few at Amazon which also look good for the same kinda money as follows, so recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Apologies for sending quite a few links, but on the face of it these look like decent Black Friday deals currently available. I quite like buying from Amazon as I find their returns process dead easy if there's any issues, but if you think the better machines are available elsewhere please do let me know!

Cheers

Yes, both graphics and processor are a tier higher in terms of performance for both my suggestions. In terms of value though Kev's suggestion is also excellent.

Hi Kev,

I purchased the Ideapad (above) but unfortunately it arrived with a damaged screen. The company have been good and will either repair or refund. I had a quick look on the site and found the below, is there any difference in spec between the two as I’d like an alternative option if it takes X amount of time to fix.

£400 budget if there’s anything else around you would recommend over and above the below.

Hi everyone,

I've been looking for a gaming laptop for a while. I'd use mostly for FM but would like to get a laptop that could be used for other games - mainly from Gamepass. I would need to use for work (basic microsoft programmes) here and there.

Budget would be £600-£850, but could spend a little more if it would be worth it.

I've got these in mind:

https://www.argos.co.uk/product/3268753?clickPR=plp:2:36

https://www.currys.co.uk/products/hp-victus-16r0502sa-16.1-gaming-laptop-intel-core-i5-rtx-3050-512-gb-ssd-10250490.html

https://www.argos.co.uk/product/3063123?clickPR=plp:18:36

https://www.currys.co.uk/products/msi-katana-15-15.6-gaming-laptop-intel-core-i7-rtx-4050-1-tb-ssd-10246626.html

I am more drawn to the HP's as will need to occasionally use for work so would appreicate a more understated look than some gaming aptops offer - but not too concerned if one is massively better.

Open to any suggestions if there is something better for the price.

Thanks for the help!

Hi all,

My current laptop is on its last legs and is no longer sufficient for playing FM. I'm therefore looking to buy a new one to get playing FM24 ASAP, but also bearing in mind that requirements for FM25 are likely to increase and as such want to future proof as much as possible. I'd also be using the laptop for Netflix, day to day tasks and other low end gaming etc.

I've found this Lenovo which looks to have a pretty decent spec from my limited knowledge and some of the info i have been reading. I am able to purchase with a 20% discount that Very offer for signing up to Very Pay (should pass the credit checks) which seems like an excellent price. What are your thoughts on this deal?

I've also seen this MSI laptop recommended a few times on this forum. This would be right at the top end of my budget. Is there much difference between the two to warrant paying the higher price?

Cheers

Andy

Overall, I'd go for this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/HP-16-n0001sa-RyzenTM-GeForce-Windows/dp/B0B2PVRL5C/?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_w=90tov&content-id=amzn1.sym.6ae9cbd8-96ee-4f2e-98f8-e463e0418c20&pf_rd_p=6ae9cbd8-96ee-4f2e-98f8-e463e0418c20&pf_rd_r=Y7WKK14A1RWCXAXR7B6N&pd_rd_wg=NY4Fj&pd_rd_r=73d725da-ebbe-4872-aecc-079a40ee2531&ref_=pd_gw_dealz_m2&th=1

Morning folks, just wondering how good this laptop will be,

https://www.laptopstation.co.uk/products/lenovo-ideapad-gaming-3-6th-generation-ryzen-5-16gb-ram-512gb-ssd-nvidia-rtx-3050-graphics-15-6-fhd-screen-gaming-laptop?_pos=3&_fid=87d434720&_ss=c

just thinking ahead for FM 25 really, or could I get something better for similar money, thanks

It's an excellent deal - very good CPU and the graphics card is fine for FM.

Hi Kev,

I purchased the Ideapad (above) but unfortunately it arrived with a damaged screen. The company have been good and will either repair or refund. I had a quick look on the site and found the below, is there any difference in spec between the two as I’d like an alternative option if it takes X amount of time to fix.

£400 budget if there’s anything else around you would recommend over and above the below.

https://www.laptopstation.co.uk/products/hp-probook-450-g9-12th-generation-core-i5-16gb-ram-256gb-ssd-windows-11-pro-15-6-fhd-screen-laptop-1?_pos=2&_fid=0f3b50532&_ss=c

Thanks again

Ted

Looks like the same spec to me, so should be absolutely fine.

Hi everyone,

I've been looking for a gaming laptop for a while. I'd use mostly for FM but would like to get a laptop that could be used for other games - mainly from Gamepass. I would need to use for work (basic microsoft programmes) here and there.

Budget would be £600-£850, but could spend a little more if it would be worth it.

I've got these in mind:

https://www.argos.co.uk/product/3268753?clickPR=plp:2:36

https://www.currys.co.uk/products/hp-victus-16r0502sa-16.1-gaming-laptop-intel-core-i5-rtx-3050-512-gb-ssd-10250490.html

https://www.argos.co.uk/product/3063123?clickPR=plp:18:36

https://www.currys.co.uk/products/msi-katana-15-15.6-gaming-laptop-intel-core-i7-rtx-4050-1-tb-ssd-10246626.html

I am more drawn to the HP's as will need to occasionally use for work so would appreicate a more understated look than some gaming aptops offer - but not too concerned if one is massively better.

Open to any suggestions if there is something better for the price.

Thanks for the help!

The MSI from Currys is definitely the best one, but the HP will do the job for you if your preference is the more understated look.

What are your thoughts on this deal?

https://www.very.co.uk/lenovo-lenovo-loq-156-1920x1080-144hz-core-i7-13620h-geforce-rtx-4060-16gb-ram-512gb-nvme-ssd/1600945560.prd?utm_campaign=voucher&awc=3090_1700412120_97b87d632b73a2abd5f95098bc00f2f3&aff=awin&affsrc=47868&cm_mmc=awin-_-47868-_-Discount+Code-_-0_0&utm_source=awin&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_term=HotUKDeals_47868&utm_content=na

Any advice appreciated. Many thanks

The one from Very has the better graphics card, and the other one has a higher capacity SSD.  Both have the same CPU.

If your gaming needs are more at the lower end, I'd be more tempted by the larger SSD, as the RTX 4050 shouldn't see any issues for that.

Thanks for the advice Kev.

Had another look this morning and spotted these two with 20% off credit.

Wondered these stack-up in comparison?

thanks again

If I was to pick one from all 6 that you linked based purely off the specs, I'd pick this one: https://www.very.co.uk/lenovo-loq-156-1920x1080-144hz-core-i7-13620h-geforce-rtx-4060-16gb-ram-512gb-nvme-ssd/1600945560.prd

Good afternoon, I have the chance to purchase this laptop at work. Used but they are getting rid of older ones, £150 donation. Would it run okay? Many thanks.

If it's the same spec as listed on that, then it'd run the game.  It won't be massively quick, and you'll need to use lower 3D graphics settings.  Can't say for sure how it'll fare once FM25 comes out.
