Haven't been able to find a solution as yet, although others seem to have had similar problems.

I have a Macbook

10.5.5

2Ghz Intel Core duo

2GB memory

Graphics: Intel GMA 950 (I know this doesn't match exact spec, but have seen plenty of people that have it working with this card)

The game installed fine, but when I click the .app, I get the usual logos and club disclaimer, but then a totally white screen. I can move the cursor, but thats it!

Please please help!

For any of you having similar issues with the white screen. I have it working on the spec outlined above.

1. Fully uninstall

2. Install new version

3. BEFORE applying the patch

4. Start-up FM09

5. Select preferences from the main menu

6. Change to windowed + disable 3d

7. Confirm

8. Close down fm09

9. Install 9.1.1 patch

10. Open FM09

11. You will now have the dreaded white screen, but in windowed mode.

12. You will see a pop-up behind window requesting your mac/idisk user + pass = enter them.

13. Main menu as it should be!

14. HEAVEN! Game actually flies on my good old Macbook!

I have tried to install Microsoft SDK but I seem to be getting an error a few other users have reported

it says

Error Code: S1001

This setup exectuable has not been packed with files and settings. Please use the PACKER tool to build this exectuable.

I dont even know what that means and im trying to google a solution, do you know what it means and how I can install SDK?

Dear Testing Team, Marc & Steve Cox,

I really feel very frustration to install FM 2009. After installing and re-installing the game so many times, then launching the game by click fm icon, it shows:

"fm.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

Dear Testing Team, Marc & Steve Cox,

I really feel very frustration to install FM 2009. After installing and re-installing the game so many times, then launching the game by click fm icon, it shows:

trying to install the latest drivers for my graphics card. The SDK install didnt solve the problem for me but might for you if you give it a try.

Jamestam i had a similar problem to you and was told to 1. Get the latest patch 2. Get Direct X SBK 3. Get your graphics cards latest drivers. If you look higher up this page or on 36 you should be able to find the links to them.

Also, check your install log for the game in the football manager folder or search for Football_Manager_2009_InstallLog and look through it for any errors, if you've got one, post it here as it helps them give you a solution.

I also get an error when Im trying to update my latest driver for my graphics card which says - Error

driver being installed is not validated for this computer. please obtain the appropriate driver for the computer's manufacturer

- Ive installed my drivers from my Dell discs and Ive tried to download these drivers from the Intel website but still I cant get FM to work

and still Im getting the Fm.exe has to close error

Unfortunately I seem to be having problems with that but I think the main issue I unfortunately have is that my graphics cards is just

too old :(

Ive got a Intel 945GM Graphics Controller does anyone know if that is too old to run this game?

Thankfully I've a PC that I can try it on later but wouldve been handy to use on my laptop!

Im also now back to getting the floating point error after updating my graphics card, didnt think it was going to be this hard to get to

play Football Manager!! :(

Scenario: Install and activate with activation code on Steam and it works then launch the game, SoftAnchor asking to re-enter activation code.

Fix: You need to delete the certificates and re-activate the game

1) On receiving the error, please uninstall the game

2) Please navigate to the following directory:

XP users: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009 Certificate

I have just deleted the Cache folder

C drive - users - my name - appdata - roaming - sports interactive - fm2009 -

i previously deleted the cache folder as advised, restarted laptop, loaded saved game but problem still persited.

i hae just gone back into folder and the cache folder is there again.

If you have more than one version of the game installed (For example, you have FM2007 and FM2008 installed) and only wish to remove one then go into the Sports Interactive Folder and delete the folder of the game you wish to remove.

Next you need to remove save games and other content (your saved games are in the 'games' folder - move its content out of here if you wish to keep your saved games)

Windows XP:

1: Open “My Computer”

2: Navigate to “C:\Documents and Settings\<Name>\My Documents”

Vista:

1: Click on “Start”

2: Click on “Computer”

3: Navagate to “C:\Users\<Name>\Documents”

Look for the Sports Interactive Folder and follow the same steps for the game files.

Next remove your Cache files

First of all you need to turn on hidden files and folders. Go to My Computer and at the top select 'Tools' the 'Folder Options'. The go to the 'View' tab and select 'Show hidden files and folders'

Windows XP:

1. Open “My Computer”

2. Navigate to : “Documents and Settings\<Username>\Application Data\

3. Go into the “Sports Interactive” Folder.

4. Delete the “Football Manager XX” Folder.

Wndows Vista:

1. Click “Start”

2. Click your username on the start Menu

3. Click on “AppData” and then “Roaming”

4. Go into the “Sports Interactive” Folder

5. Delete the “Football Manager XX” Folder.

Mac OSX

1. Open Finder.

2. Select <User>

3. Navigate to Library\Caches\Sports Interactive

4. Remove the “Football Manager XX” Folder.

How to Delete your Registry Files

Finally you will need to edit your registry to remove information Sports Interactive stores there.

To do this follow these steps:

Windows Xp

1: Click on “Start”

2: Click on “Run”

3: In the text prompt box type “regedit”

4: Navigate to:

Windows Vista

1: Click on “Start”

2: In the Search box type “regedit”

3: Navigate to: “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\

4: Delete the “Sports Interactive Ltd” Folder.

Note: Please do not tamper with anything else in this folder, your registry is very sensitive and changing something could cause your computer to malfunction.

Once all the steps above are complete your computer will be completely uninstalled.

Once you've done all of the above, re-install FM 09 , install the patch, and try to run a new game or one of your backed up save games.

Give this a go, and see how it goes.

having played on fm with the default skin i downloaded a custom one and placed it in the correct folder, then after exiting the game and loading up fm again i get a black screen after fm has loaded, i deleted the skin that i had put in but i still get the black screen after loading making it impossible to play the game. I've reinstalled the game and i still get the same black screen even after deleting the custom skin, i've tried deleting the appsdata file and i still get the black screen after the loading screen, any ideas on how to sort this out? taking into account that i could play it fine before changing the skin

Have you made sure that your un-install was thorough leaving no trace of FM 09 left behind?

Irishjones you've got a different problem to me, i managed to get 156 successes and 1 non-fatal error. I'm afraid i can't help as i don't even know how to sort my own out but posting that info should help Bardi give you a solution.

Hi

I was previously having a problem with the game freezing on start-up, I appeared to have fixed this by running the game windowed as suggested on here, however the game now freezes in the same way whenever I click on 'preferences'!

Although I haven't extensively tested it, I don't think it freezes at any other times, eg the 3D mode works absolutely fine! It's just literally every time I click on preferences.

Can anyone help? Apologies if this problem has been dealt with but I did a search and found nothing.

You're not the first person to have experienced this freeze (actually 2nd as far as I'm aware) - consider yourself lucky that it occurs on a screen that isn't exactly critical to your game.

There's no workaround for this at the moment, I don't think, and I'd recommend for you to wait till the second patch.

Hi, I bought the game today, and have tried to install it this afternoon. When I put the disk into my DVD drive the 'Install Anywhere' box automatically comes up, but after around 40/50% it automatically closes itself, and then nothing else happens. I have tried restarting the computer and going through my computer and opening the setup file within the game, but exactly the same thing happens. Any ideas? Thanks

1. Make sure you have the latest version of Java located at:

2. If that doesn't make any difference, try downloading/installing the game via Steam which can be downloaded from:

http://store.steampowered.com/about/

Use the activation code that came with your DVD to activate the game.

I am yet to buy the game as the demo is not working for me and i dont want to risk buying the full game incase i cant get that to work either, especially as it looks like lots of people are having prblems with it. Is there any way to fix my problem with the demo?

The problem i have with the demo is the game just doesnt start. Initially it had the error with the graphics but after downloading the latest directx i no longer get that error message...i get no error message at all. When i go to start the game (the actual game, not a match) it starts to load...albeit slowly...i get no error message and then it just stops, its almost as if its trying to load but really slow cos the system cant hack it? have left it for ages but still it doesnt load. I'm pretty sure my system meets the minimum requirement:

-intel pentium 4 processor 515 (2.93GHz, 1MB, FSB533)

-512 MB DDR

-80GB HDD (7200rpm) - 60GB free

=16x DVDRW Multi (Double Layer)

-WLAN (802.11b/g)

I appreciate that my system is not the greatest and that the game will probably run slow but i should at least be able to run it. I have tried both the strawberry and vanilla demos with the same problems, cant even get to a point where i can do quickstart, new game etc. I dont want to be stuck with fm08 for the rest of my life but i'm not prepared to buy the full game whilst theres a chance it wont work.

Tried the download you suggested.

Now i'm getting this error

APPLICATION HAS FAILED TO START BECAUSE ITS SIDE BY SIDE CONFIGURATION IS INCORRECT.

However, as was well publicized pre-patch 1, there were alot of issues getting the game to run on Intel graphics chipsets. This was dramatically improved with the release of the first patch, but was, it is fair to say, not a 100% compatibility fix.

Dear Bardi & FM testing team,

I just want to share my feeling there. We spent lot of time on the issue of how to launch the Football Manager 2009 properly is not because of we have paid it, the reason is we like to play the game, we love the game, we played the game for many years...from champion manager times. Thus we support the game so far.

However this Football Manager 2009 Edition seems a lot of problem are not fixed. I bought the game 3 weeks ago and my problem of "fm.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." is still exit and it seems no experts & testing team staff can provide a good solution to me. In the past, I tired to get the latest version of directx, path 9.1.0 etc...but all were useless.

My feeling is changing from expectation to disappointed, from disappointed to very angry...

Can you understand what I am thinking..??

I installed the game in my Samsung NC10 Netbook, the CPU is intel ATOM Processor N270, LCD IS 10.2" wsvga(200nit) and original resolution is 1024x600 (I tried to change it to 1024x768 or above many times before installing the game to meet the game requirment), Memory is 1GB DDR2/160GB HDD, Dispaly card is Intel GMA 950...

Did you check for updated graphics cards drivers via http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/detect.htm?

Ive tried to run this install and the only option I have is to repair, so I try that but everytime I run it, it seems to stall at this point

Hi bardi. My game still won't play, loaded game or a new game, the same error comes up. The error is, "A serious error was encountered and the application will close. An error file has been generated in: D101GY1J/My Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2009/crash dumps". I tried to play in windowed mode but it didnt work. Thanks

Bardi, this is my 3rd post & i'm still waiting for a response!

Have you found a solution to error s1023 for the direcx sdk download?

And yes i have tried the suggestion on the other forum about downloading it in the main admin profile & installing it in another, but it still doesn't work!

Please can you let me know if you have any other ideas???

I went to restart a network game tonight having not played it for around a week. After to the matchday screen to select my squad, the game crashed (kicked me off) and presented me with the following message:

A serious error was encountered and the application will close. An error file has been generated in: GARETH-PC/C:/Users/Gareth/Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2009/ crash dumps

Does anybody know why this has happened and what to do to fix it. I had problems this morning with my internet connection and the women from BT had me turning my Hub on and off several times. Once the internet was back on my computer was running very slow, so I did a full system scan in safe mode (found nothing) then restarted in normal mode then everything appeared to be working fine, until this latest problem.

i had activated and was playing the game then my game crashed, upon reload the uniloc activation popped up again!!! I've tried following advice on here to no avail. I have to use phone activation, i've tried uninstalling the game reinstalling then reactivating, no joy. after all the trouble i went through to get activated in the first place this is a right kick in the nuts. I've tried fixv2 and fixv3, i've checked the code yet nothing woks. I've pming muzchap as he was a great help with original issues but have had no reply, anyone got any ideas?? I was really enjoying the game aswell, which is brilliant apart from this activation issues madness

Well I have emailed Uniloc but have had no response it has been 3 days now. I have tried the chat to a rep but no one is ever available - is there anything else you can suggest - I just keeo getting the SOft Anchor screen saying 'Trial Period Has Expired'
