IR.....What am I doing in Iceland?

Surprisingly good season, but then again I imagine there isn't so much difference in quality between teams in a league like that.

Yeah, no professional teams (unlike, say, Wales) means that anyone can beat anyone really. Hence why we win 6-1 away and then lose 3-2 at home!

2018 Season

Icelandic Premier Division

End of Season Review

League: 1st

We wrap up the title with a couple of games to spare, qualifying for the champions league in the process

Icelandic Cup: Winners

First three fixtures were after extra time, but we lift the cup with a comfortable win.

Europa League: 2nd Qualifying Round

We get through the 1st round but are outclassed in the 2nd.

Key Players

Aron Bjarnason - another great season for the left winger

Bjorn Jonsson - good debut season as support striker

Alen Sutej - solid from the Slovenian centre half

Hallgrimur Pordarsson - excellent season and was named player of the year. However left at the end of the season after his wage demands were excessive.

Finances - Europe and the cup run have kept these steady

2019 Preseason Review

Icelandic Premier Division

A few changes, building up a solid core for our challenge for the tile next season. I also have a new contract until end of the 2020 season.

Transfers

Highlights:

Ingvar Jonsson: my regular keeper idiotically moved on a free to an amateur club, so I signed this chap as his replacement whom was also meandering through the lower leagues.

Brynjar A Gudmundsson: versatile midfielder signs on a free after his release from Kevlavik

Tryggvi Hrafn Haraldsson: excellent striker signs on a free after his release from Fylkir

Also we resigned Hallgrimur Pordarsson after his wage demands became a bit more reasonable.

Friendlies: solid run

Icelandic League Cup

We win this finally, with a straight run through the group stages into the final.

Icelandic Super Cup

Unfortunately a defeat on penalties rules out a clean sweep in pre-season.

Icelandic Premier Division

End of Season Review

League: 1st

Not quite as comfortable as the previous season, but we still claim our 2nd successive league title.

Icelandic Cup: Winners

Comfortable in the end for our 3rd Icelandic Cup.

Champions League: Play off round

An excellent performance in the Champions League sees us make our way to the play off round until defeat by Dinamo Zagreb

Europa League: Group Stages

We get a very tough group, and as expected finish bottom. However, a point in the San Siro is a highlight.

Key Players

Petur Jonsson - a rock at the back

Gabriel Ingi Agnarsson - scored a hatful of goals again

Alen Sutej - another solid season from the Slovenian

Tryggvi Hrafn Haraldsson - our top scorer, an excellent season from the striker whom also scored his first Iceland goal.

Hallgrimur Pordarson - another great season from the winger after his re-signing at the start of the season

Finances - our excellent runs in Europe mean these are very healthy. So healthy, we turn professional at the end of the season and can now scout worldwide.

2020 Preseason Review

Icelandic Premier Division

Our professional status meant I could replace most of my squad with far better players, as well as finally take advantage of the loan network.

Transfers

Highlights:

Thorben Muller - impressive Danish midfielder signs after his release from Nordsjaeland

Adam Waak - versatile young midfielder signs on loan from Djurgardens

Jonathan Delaplace - experienced French midfielder on a free after leaving Le Havre

Davis Kodia - experienced Ivorian centreback on a free after leaving Bodo/Glimt

Nikos Kaltsas - Greek midfielder on a free after leaving Veroia

Friendlies: good enough

Finances: still strong despite not playing since December

Icelandic League Cup

Walked the group stages and the knockouts, until an unfortunate loss on penalties in the final.

Another great performance in the Champions League sees two great wins then a narrow defeat in the play off.

Key Players

Champions League: Group Stages

Marius Mirauskas - the on line Lithuanian striker kept our striker force in close competition

Jules Aerts - on loan Belgian winger chipped in with his fair share of assists and goals

OK I have decided to call it quits on this save - as can be seen by my lack of updates I have lost interest in this save completely, largely because domestically it was such a bore that I was playing more than half of the season before doing anything interesting.

I am going to start another game shortly, a journeyman game this time, which I enjoyed so much in FM13. Thanks for all whom showed interest in this save.
