I took a holiday early in the season as I had to jump on the next flight to Spain due to family reasons and left my assistant manager to take care of the team while I was away. While I was over there I got the news that I had been sacked from Wigan on Sky Sports News, and to my shock it was Craig that was replacing me. Of all managers it had to be him didn't it, and now he has moved Wigan up to a play-off spot. I could of done that if I was given more time, Wigan are a club heavily in debt and without premiership football soon the club will be bust, The board had to be tight with money so in a way am happy my stint is over and can look forward to the future. I wish Craig all the best but still hope he fails.

I have handed my CV out to a few clubs and some seen to show some interest, teams in Germany and Spain give me a polite 'no' but i will be looking for a Championship job at the very least.

MACCLESFIELD TOWN SEASON 2016/17

Macclesfield Town manager Jim Barclay finally made it into the BSP with an impressive season at the Rose Ground.

Town finished third in the BSN after winning 20, drawing 15 and losing 7 games.

Barclay managed to bring in 15 new faces(3 on loan) with the highlight being Trinidad and Tobago international Chris Birchall who was an instant hit with the supporters.

Leandro, the Brazillian forward was signed on a free from Colwyn Bay also became a hit with the fans after scoring 20 goals.

The third place finish was enough to secure a play-off spot and the draw meant a two legged tie against Harrogate.

The first leg was away and Macclesfield put in arguably their best performance of the season, smashing Harrogate 4-1.

With 1 foot in the final all that was called for was a cool head and a decent defensive performance which was what Town did. A very professional 0-0 draw saw Town in the final with a chance to secure league football.

A sunny afternoon saw Macclesfield Town take the field against local rivals Chester City which produced an excellent match, ending in a 2-2 draw.

Extra time was a nervy affair with both teams keeping one eye on a penalty shoot out.

Macclesfield kept their neve dispatching all their penalties to win and take their place in the BSP. The board were delighted and the difficult task of strengthening the squad ready for the step up was about to begin.

MACCLESFIELD TOWN SEASON 2017/18

Macclesfield Town started life in the BSP with the boards expectation to secure football in this division for another year. Manager Jim Barclay went about strengthening the squad but with little funding available had to rely mainly on loan deals. A total of 7 players were loaned in during the course of the season on different length contracts.

A partnership was set up with League 1's AFC Telford where the parent club provided many of the players Macclesfield used this season.

The star player was Yannick Neumann, the right winger who made 33 appearances and weighed in with 6 goals, also from AFC Telford was left winger Tunji Scott who played 18 times and got 1 goal.

Pacey striker Dalton Harris was brought in on a free and partnered Brazillian forward Leandro for most of the season.

Town overachieved finishing an impressive 12th but manager Jim Barclay would not be there at the end of the season. With Macclesfields impressive run, Barclay was approached by League 2 outfit Rochdale.

The offer proved too good to refuse and the lure of finally managing in the football league meant that with 2 months of the season left Jim Barclay became Rochdale Town manager.

He instantly brought in Neumann on loan from Teford, beating rivals Cheter City to his signature. Rochdale finished mid table despite a ten point deduction and with a new season around the corner the task to rebuild Rochdale began.

ROCHDALE SEASON 2018/19

The boards expectation for the season ahead was 17th place. With a relatively small team manager Jim Barclay would once again be forced to delve into the loan market.

His first call was to AFC Telford manager Davie Orr, with the objective to secure the services of right winger Yannick Neumann. With stiff competition from Chester City, Barclay was pleased that Neumann would choose to work with him again.

Another key loanee was Stoke City reserve team striker Damian Wray who helped the team by scoring 8 times in his 5 month period at the club.

Neumann struggled a little with fitness and only managed 10 appearances scoring just once.

The season proved to be rather uneventful with Rochdale finishing in 16th place, right as expected. They were in a top half position for most of the season but when all the loan players returned in February the team hit a slideand went on a ten game streak winning just once and drawing 8 times.

Just as the thought of a relegation battle looked a real possibility they found some form nad won their last 4 matches.

Their first foray into the league cup proved to be an unlucky affair as they forced Champioship side Wigan into extra time before finally being defeated in front of their home fans.

Home ties seemed to be a theme as Rochdale made it to the third round of the F.A. Cup with each tie being played infront of the Rochdale faithfull.

The first round saw a 2-0 victory over non league side St Albans in a match that was dominated by the home side, but where they failed to put their chances away.

The second round set up a mouth watering tie with Barclays former club Macclesfield Town. With emotions still running high from Barclays shock departure, his ex team were determined to knock Rochdale out of the cup. A full bloodied battle ensued with several yellow cards shown to both sides but eventually Rochdale went on to win 3-1.

With their place in the hat for the third round secured, Rochdales chairman was dreaming of a glamour tie with one of the big boys.

He got his wish as they were drawn at home (again) to the mighty Chelsea. The attendance was boosted from an average of 1600 to a 10,000 crowd as the premiership team arrived in Lancashire for the game.

It was a spirited performance from Rochdale, and when they took an early lead the crowd went wild but unfortunately it wasn't to be and Chelsea stepped up a gear and showed thir class running out 3-1 winners. After the match Barclay shared a drink with his opposite number Jonny Kaufman and attempted to talk the Chelsea manager into sending some loan players his way.

A mixed season in all for Rochdale, with the wage budget massively over the board had been showing signs of frustration. As the squad takes its end of season break it will be interesting to see who is here at the start of the new season.

Oh So Close

Chelsea had a poor season last, and new man Kaufman was looking to improve on the 7th place finish and hopefully compete for the Champions League places.

With the news that in 2020 Chelsea would move in to a brand new 60,000 seater stadium, the Chelsea board held a forum to get names for their new home, several hours were slaved away, Kaufman was not present but eagerly awaited the result. Finally after 22 hours 43 minutes and 13 seconds Roman Ambramovic held a press conference to announce that the name would be the........Chelsea Stadium. Yeah.

The start of the season saw a suprise at the top of the table, no it wasn't Chelsea, it was the corner experts Aston Villa. Their tactic of shooting from anywhere and hoping for corners so they can score seemed to be working with their new manager, although that would be quickly found out after they played the mighty Chelsea, 6-3 by the way. Chelsea remained near the top of the table with their new look team, espically their strike force, Cristiano Ronaldo, Conterao and Nemad Djuric (a £30m signing from FC Bayern on the transfer deadline), and come January 1st Chelsea sat atop the league just ahead of Liverpool and Tottenham. After dismissing Man City 2-1, of course this wasn't to be allowed by former Tottenham manager and then manager of Real Madrid, Alex Holligan, who was threatened by the thought that Kaufman would be considered a better manager than him so had to come back to England to sabotage his chances, with mega rich and already with a squad capable of winning the league easily Man City. Kaufman would end up holding off Holligan right up untill the last few games of the season, when Chelsea would travel to City for what many considered the title decider, and unfortuntely Chelsea never got out of the blocks, 3 injuries to centre backs meant that a make shift defence, to an already very poor defence, was all Kaufman had, and when he meets yet another expert at corner training he could not compete. With the goal difference meaning that unless Chelsea could win very well in a few of their last games, that included 3 of the other top 6 whereas City only had 1 team in the top half to play in the last 6 games, City had the title wrapped up. After this another poor display to Corner Villa, made sure that Chelsea's title challenge ended. However seeing as the board's reported aim was just to finish 7th again, a 2nd place finish so close to a team who have dominated English football in recent years was far more than could have been hoped for.

The cups were once again poor, after Kaufman left his assistant in charge for the 3rd round of the League Cup, as he saw AFC Telford and Davie orr (why he doesn't have a capital O for his last name I will never know) as beneath him (espically as Chelsea had bought his best prospect, despite the best efforts of Holligan to help his best pal and save the player with an outragous bid, which would once again happen from the new Real Madrid manager, who would try to interupt Chelsea's bid for Ebbsfleet striker Omaur Ba with yet another unbelievable offer, and of course once again fail, although Ba will now be out for 7 months after collecting an injury while on loan at League One Hull City) and the assistant deciding to play an untested 18 year old in goal, Telford would come away with a historic victory. Kaufman would not take any chances then against League Two Rochdale in the FA Cup 3rd round, and although a poor start Chelsea and Aguero would finish off the spirited display from the lower oppostion. The FA Cup however would not see silverware as Chelsea firstly knocked out Arsenal on penalties, managed to unexplicably lose to West Brom in the quater finals.

Kaufman is now reported to be on the look out for the best defenders for Chelsea's return to the Champions League as he identifed the only weakness for his Chelsea team, will they finally return to the top of the tree, or will they fall just short again?

With a successful first season behind him. Martin sat down with Dario and considered the squad and it's limitations.

Martin: "If we act now, we can grab some good players while the chairmans in a giving mood. Get the scouts on their bikes and find me some young blood."

Grandin: "On it like a rash boss, the guys have found some tasty ones. Don't think we need to make to many changes to the first 11, do you?"

Martin: "Nope, considering most were in their first season, they've done well, and hopefully with a couple of additions, the first team will be fine. What we need is to find some hard working and determined youth for the next couple of years"

And so, the scouts were sent out with firm instructions, find me 3 first team players and a handful of kids to fill the slots. And so, off they went, sweeping across Europe and trawling the loacl scenes for young up and coming players that would mature down the line. The brief was simple. Their must be some re-sale value in what we find.

And so the clubs in Europe were scoured and raided with no fewer than 11 youngsters being signed up, including 2 Russians and a Ukrainian. Many of these would be destined for the loan market this season, however a couple were already earmarked for the first team. And as the window opened, Martin was comfortable that they had stolen a march on some clubs, and had made some moves in the market. But there was still a couple of loose ends to tie up. As the year entered July and with the season a month away, Martin made his final moves, brining in a 19 year old Chinese International and a Dutch U-21 international to further bolster the midfield, and with the season a few weeks away, the squad was ready.

Martin had spent a grand total of £37m at this point, in sharp contrast to the £65m he spent on his arrival, recouping £26m of that outlay, so for a net spend of £9m the squad had been increased and strengthened and contained an eye to the future. Having finished 5th in their first season together, Martin was confident that the first team could further improve, and that only a couple of minor changes were needed to that line-up, not necessarily in starting personnel, buy in how they played.

The remants of the Pasanen era were being shipped out, if they wouldn't terminate, or no offers came in, then they were punted off to Hibs in Scotland. Wigan came in and took 4 of the new arrivals on loan to the Championship, which would be good for their development, and Martin remained confident he could find clubs for another 2 or 3 of the new youngsters in order to aid their progress. It was gowever proving difficult to offload players, even those still playing as full internationals, and Martin was left with a bulky bloated squad list. Reducing the harmony at the club by shuiping off the unwanted was the right thing to do, hopefully. Martin hoped he would be able to offload them in due course.

The proof of the pudding would be in the eating, however The Villains soon encountered a hitch when the registration for the Euro Cup came around, as they could only register 18 players due to the foreigner rules, and the draw had been unkind, drawing them against the might of Galatasary from Turkey. First up for the new look team would be Ipswich away, and as promised Martin stuck with the same lineup that ended the season, with a couple of positional changes for players. With the Euro tie in mind however, a couple of the ineligible players were brought in to the bench, and they would find some action in this first match which ended in a 2-1 win for The Villains. A couple of the newbies had come on, and so the squad travelled to Turkey for their first Euro trip in many years, and shook Galatasary to the core with a stunning 2-0 away win with a match day squad of only 17 players. returning to domestic action on the Saturday at home to Shef Wed, Martin again brought in some of the new blood, with the second leg of the Euro Cup against Galatasasry in mind. A struggling 0-0 draw was less than impressive and Martin let the players know just that after the match. And again The Villains would play the match with only 17 eligible players. A fine 3-0 home win saw The Villains progress to the group stage, where they would be drawn against Feyenord, Glasgow Rangers and Tvarna.

In the league hiowever, things were not going well, and the team struggled to find any cohesion in the opening fixtures, a 3-0 defeat to moneybags Shitteh was followed by poor results, the only gloss being progress in ther League Cup against Huddersfield. The team even contrived to throw away a 3-0 lead against Blacburn to draw 3-3. Confidence was not oozing from the players, and the back line, unchanged from the previous season was struggling. An away win in Tvarna brought some well needed cheer, but another draw from a winning position against Feyenord was galling for the manager to take. The Euro cup run took a turn for the worse when Vill lost 2-0 to Glasgow Rangers at home, however a thorioughly deserved win away at Ibrox meant that if they could sneak a point at Feyenoord, then mathematically they would be through. Once again, a very late equaliser denied Villa all three points, however they ahd qualified for the first round proper with a game to spare. Domestically things were not going well as the team struggled to find any fluency whatsoever, and at one point went on a losing run of 5 straight defeats and would languish in mid-table most of the season.

In Europe, Villa were paired with real Betis in the first round proper of the Euro Cup and against all odd, defeated the Spanish side 2-1 in both legs. Things were getting tougher now as Olympique Lyonnaise loomed in the next round and a slender 1-0 win was all The Villains had to hang on to going into the second leg. Olympique Lyonnaise breached the Villa backline on 3 occassions however, The Villains managed to sneak 2 of their own, winning 4-3 on away goes, and so Villa marched into the Euro Qtr Final, far further than anticipated, or expected.

Martin had carried out some further surgery on the squad during the Xmas window, bringing in the highly rate Chiness Internationalist Lihui Zhao to help his compatriot Liu settle, whilst snatching the talented Dario Marchetti from Wigan. Rodolph Sanogo was flogged off to Schalke, where he subsequently scored his first ever goal against Leverkeusen, much to their new managers annoyance. With half a dozen games to go, club captain Connor Clifford was dumped in the Reserves and Martin called a team meeting which worked wonders as the team went from being goal shy to playing with the freedom and expression Martin knew they were capable of, hammering Fulham, Shef Wed, Newcastle and Huddersfield in quick succession leaving a final home match against Blackpool, which resulted in a scrappy but welcome win.

Despite a number of setbacks (mainly the managers absence) the team had stabilised, and the new players had been bloodied. There were no further plans to expand the squad, however the stadium expansion has been completed, adding another 8,000 punters to the gate. And with two weeks to go, Vice Captain Fabian Delph decided to announce that he wanted to leave the club. He will be allowed to in due course, but he was benched immediately ans would be listed during the summer. Mid table, after a horror season domestically, but a terrific run in the Euro Cup and Martin considered himself relatively content. The domestic cups were a complete disaster as the Assman failed to get past Wigan and Watford in both competitions. His position would be considered in due course.

After spending some months unemployed and not enjoying my meetings with the job centre staff I thought it was about time I got a job, Bolton had just sacked there manager and looked tempting. Sitting in the bottom half of the Championship with 1 game to go in the season they were safe. I quickly declared interest and booked my self a ticket for there final game of the season away against Sheffield United. I had a chat with the chairman Jose Enrique Sanchez before the game and he invited me back to the bar for some drinks after the game. Bolton looked a team in need of a make over and only just managed to come away with a 2-2 draw at Brammall Lane. After the match the chairman introduced me to some of the players and staff at the club before some drinks in the bar, I was impressed with the state of the club and told the chairman that I would love for the chance to work at Bolton.

I was delighted when I was asked to make my way up to the Reebok stadium for further talks with Jose about a contract at Bolton. I was given a tour of the stadium and facilities and we spoke about the plans that the new chairman was bringing to the club, only recently bought the club a few months ago Jose and he had high hopes and that he was keen to invest a lot of money to push Bolton back into the Premiership. we sat down in the board room and agreed contract terms on a £ per week 2 year contract at the club and had been promised a transfer kitty of 8m and 170k to spend on wages, they would also allow me to adjust the budget to give me a 370k wage bill if it was needed. So I signed on the dotted line and was soon in the media room Being presented to the media as the new Bolton manager.

reebok.jpg

The next day I was sat in my office going over some details with my staff, Most of the players contracts only had 2 months left to run and made my job of clearing out the deadwood in the squad easier so I was decided that I would not be renewing their contracts, I wanted a clean out at Bolton and anyone that is not in my plans would be shifted at the first attempt. Some of the staff had to go and breaking the news was hard, they just was not good enough for the club and I was quick to bring in some new staff to the back room team.

The board just kept clearing the transfer deals so I carried on spending money, Bringing in a total of 19 players and spending 30m in the process. The biggest players we managed to the secure the signatures off included the two Argentinian youngsters, 20 year old 6 foot 7 centre back Leonardo Galeano for £10m from Independiente and 18 year old striker Agustin Martinez Poch for 5m from Boca Juniors. We didn't stop there with the South American market with two Brazilian players also joining the club, 21 year old midfielder Nene joined from Athletico Miniero for £8m and Lucas Piazon joined from Coventry for £2.5m. 2 other players also signed from Coventry as we secured the transfers of two Danish defenders from the Sky Blues. year old Mikkel Sall joined for £1m and Thomas Thompsen signed for £2.1m. The big man Andy Carroll signed for us on a 12 month loan deal from Wigan.

Spending 30m in the Championship it was clear that I would accept no less them promotion from the squad, we had to get get into the premiership for the fans and the bank manager will be knocking at the door if we don't make it soon. The back room team and players are confident we can get off to a good start and have already shown some glimpses of what is to come at the club with a 4-4 draw with Davie Orr's AFC Telford and was followed by a solid 4-0 win in the League Cup 1st round against Southend United. Next we had a trip to Rob Knott's Middlesbrough in the league and came away with a great 3-1 win. The new signings are starting to gel and have been playing well together. Agustin Martinez Poch has started of on fire with 4 goals from 3 games and is showing some of that potential that I hope the coaching staff can get out of him.

A new Era at the Reebok.. Premiership here we come!

To Survive Again?

Last season the Board had told Stevens that he did a great job in keeping the team in the Championship after they had bounced back after a few seasons out. He was also congratulated that some of the signings that were made during the first half a season at the club had finally started to come into fruition and had helped to inspire the team to play better for one another and the fact that the club had been given a really healthy bank balance under the charge of manager Craig Stevens.

The period of the season where wages and transfer budgets are handed out to managers was a really good one for Craig Stevens as it was essentially the first time that he wasbactually handed millions to spend, along with what was a generous wage budget. With this budget now in place for the forthcoming season it was evident that the team needed to bolster its defence after letting in ONLY 93 goals for last season which was by far the worst in the Championship.

Davie Orr’s Telford was looked upon as the team that could help do this after they amazingly almost came back from the dead to almost save themselves last season. Central defender Westerlund looked the obvious target to help the struggling Coventry defence find its feet, an offer was made to the now relegated team of around £750k but Orr responded by saying that it was away too low for a player of Westerlunds calibre and immedietly rejected. A second but slightly higher bid was made to Telford of around £1.2m but again that was shot down, Davie though had decided to negotiate the offer for his defender to around £1.9m. Coventry then decided to cancel negotiations with Davie as the value for the player was way too much and took over most of the budget given at the start of season. Other targets had to be followed..This then led Stevens to Fergus Martins former employer Tamworth who had a player that Stevens once tried to sign for himself. That player was a Swedish player by the name of Johann Hammar, Hammar himself had a pretty close record and overall appeal to Stevens that Westerlund had. With Hammar's contract with Tamworth now cancelled Stevens took it upon himself to offer the defender a contract with the Sky Blues, that offer was accepted and Hammar became a Coventry player finally.

Other positions also needed strengthening so into the free market we went and found a formerAston Villa player from before the Martin Reign, this player was a Scottish midfield International by the name of Barry Bannan, a contract was offered to Bannan and he then accepted terms.Several other players also came through the doors at Coventry including experienced Goalkeeper Jan Lastuvka, along with another whole selection of young players from around europe.

Results wise the team started decently to the beginning of the season with themselves in and around the mid table point of the Championship, sometimes rising up towards the play off places. Things were starting to look good at Coventry as the bank balance grew and grew with the team having nearly £7m in it. Coventry were handed an easy game in the league cup which they won but had to progress onto the next round to face Premier League Everton, this was a game in which the Sky Blues had dominated taking the lead in a great first half showing..only for it to fall apart and go downin a ball of flames losing 2-1 to 2 quickfire goals from the EvertoniansThen in order to test the water and see what could happen with the defence if club captain Frederick Moller took some time out the team so Stevens offered him out on loan to several teams but only one had made an offer to take the player on loan. An offer of a loan for the season came through from M. Tel Aviv with an offer of £425k and a future fee of £1.5m, which wasnt a really bad offer as he had arrived at the club for free anyway.. so off Moller plodded to M. Tel Aviv for the season and possibly forever.

November was upon us and it was pretty evident that the Wigan board were losing patience with Neil Davis at the helm, as there failure to win games and the fact they were slipping down the league table. With the managers of Coventry, Middlesborough, Telford and Aston Villa all waiting on to see the axe wielded at the DW stadium on Davis’ time there with a few more bad results, but they were made to wait a few more days until the 10th November for this to happen which was a brilliant time :D

With Stevens’ name listed specualtion began around the Ricoh Arena that Stevens was about to leave the team he helped build a better future for, a future he wouldnt see out with them. Middlesborough manager Rob Knott put forward his application for the vacant job at Wigan as did Stevens, but with Adrian Boothroyd the likely favourite both managers just thought nah its not gonna happen but we’ll try anyway.

Wigan’s Board finally got round to offering the vacant job out and it went to Stevens who went over the contract and was offered very little in the way of a transfer budget although the wage budget was pretty generous. Stevens had called time on Coventry and joined Wigan..

Time to set things right

On the 13th of November Coventry Manager Craig Stevens was head hunted & offered the job at Wigan Athletic after Neil Davis was thrown out into the streets of Wigan to fend for himself with nowhere to take him in. After days of being sacked on the 10th November Davis was rumoured to beworking in a cat shelter, possibly on the run from the tax man for tax evasion just like Harry Redknapp or living under a bridge somewhere. But there is also rumours that Neil still comes along to the games at the DW with some unfashionably made disguises that many wouldnt be seen caught dead ineven at Halloween. This is what we believe was his last attempt after being seen by the BBC Match Of The Day camera’s during the game versus Leeds at Christmas.

21j0rrq.jpg

Once Stevens had arrived and had the im new here show me whats what meeting behind the scenes at Wigan with Chairman Dave Whelan. Stevens came to see where the club belived their future would be in the next few seasons under Stevens conracts at the DW Stadium. After having some time to go over who was playing for for club this season, it was clear that a few players would be leaving the team in the January transfer window to help with the teams massive debt after the reign of Davis. With it being clear that Davis is really bad with keeping money available at a team the Wigan board had to apply for another loan to help keep the club afloat..this brought the amount of loans to pay back to 6 in total with totals of almost £400k a month to be paid back. The future looks really bleak for this once great Premiership team with all this debt to pay off but all that can save it is the sale of top players, extremely low wages, a great run in the cups available or perhaps, just perhaps a return to the pinnacle of the English game The Premier League!

The first player that was most notable on the list of players for the team was Striker Franco Di Santo, who is not one of Stevens favourite players ever.Having decided to sell him off immeditetly in a bid to help finances and reduce the wage bill, Di Santo was sold off to a club in the U.A.E for £825k,which isnt much but at least it took off 28.5k off the wage bill to free up some space for more valuable staff.

The Wigan faithful & Stevens didnt have to wait long for his first game as Wigan manager when the played at and came out of it with a win.In that game the crowd didnt have to wait long for the first goal under the new chiefs reign, a goal coming after just 22 seconds.

Wigan’s results after hirng a new manager significantly improved as the team hit some form, many games they only hit 2 goals into the back of the netbut all the goals helped propell Wigan upwards and into the Championship Play Off places hitting 4th place and having reduced the goals against totals back into positivefigures. However the club did go out of the FA Cup at the 3rd Round with a defeat to Championship rivals Wolves in a game which ended in a closely thought 2-1 defeat. In these games a few signings that Davis had made during his time at the Latics had also hit some form themselves especially striker Borja a FREE signing from Atletico Madrid the previous season, the striker has managed to hit the next in almost every game he has played recently with some fans saying that he has finally arrived and is now showing them what he is capable of after all the praise and expectation.

The push for the play off places provided what can be said a rollercaoster ride of results, hoping that things would swing the way of the Latics was a hard one to watch. However it call came down to the final game of the season where Wigan were set to play Leeds Utd, a win would guarantee Wigan a play off place. Going into the final game it was said that Stevens was a nervous wreck on the touchline, but that all changed when Wigan took anearly lead and then they just kept banging them in on almost every attack the Leeds goal was being battered, the final score being 6-0 Wigan and that helped secure a place in the Play offs after finishing in 5th place.

The play offs however was a good time to be a Wigan fan as the team got drawn against Wolves, a team that consisted of a goal machine calledDanny Welbeck. With the 1st Leg at home Wolves got PUMPED 3-1 against what was a rampant Wigan team, the 2nd leg was a much more 50/50 tie at Molineux with a 2-2 draw. Star player for the 2nd leg was Marchetti who scored a wonder goal volley from just inside the box.

This however took Wigan to the play off final against Ipswich in what is a Multi Million £ game for a place in Englands BEST league, the game began with both team going from end to end. However it was Wigan who took the lead after 8 minutes from Marchetti the former Chelsea transfer targetwhose shot cannoned in after hitting the post, the rest of the first half however was a real pain to watch as it was still end to end. When the second half began with was mostly dominated by Ipswich who seemed the more hungry of the two team for the place in the top league and they showed it by scoring a cracking goal from distance.

With the game at 1-1 and heading into extra time a substitution was made upfront for Wigan, top striker Borja whos goals had helped proppel the team to where they are now mis-firing all game was replaced by Andy Carroll.. an inspired sub? Not really! he came on and was well useless as always.Penalties it was and it started so well but it all ended very badly as players shot well wide or the opposition goalkeeper had saved them, with the final 2 spot kicks to be taken it was Fergus Martins central defender on loan from Aston Villa who would take a penalty on his most important game ever!! but he fluffed it hitting the post of all places, Ipswich then took theres and won 4-3 on pens! Harsh result many fans have said.

Next season maybe...

with a revolving door supply of Arsenal kids we played with a flair unseen at this level.

after smashing in over 145 league goals (a new league record) its worth noting not a single player scored more than 20 goals

with our own players also in and about the starting XI the balance was just right.

sadly we lost a few players the most noticeable being Rafael Veloso (GK) to Cartagena £975k along with Tunji Scott(AML) too Chelsea for £500k, granted Tunji had failed to be a regular in the starting XI his presence was enough for Chelsea to cough up £500k.

Even with over £1.5m in transfers in, the board wheren't forthcoming with any sort of funds to help strenghten the team, infact no money was awarded to myself not even a wee bung....a few of our long term players on their final year had too be released due to the restrictions on wages placed by the board.

so now its back to the championship and already been labelled as the whipping boys for season 2019/20....I say bring it ON!!!!!

After starting his career at Fleetwood Town and getting them to league one, O’Malley moved on to a new challenge at Crystal Palace. To start with, what looked like a step up it soon became obvious that it was not to be the case. He had high earners at the club and no money in the budget to bring any new players in so we had to go with what we had bar a few good young loan signings. O’Malley soon got them playing as a team though as we shot up the table and got into the play-off mix. The media had us down for a mid-table finish as did the board so to finish in the play-offs had been a great season.

We had to beat Rob Knott’s Middlesbrough who we had been fighting all year to make the play-offs so it was going to be tough. After beating them over two legs, we faced Dirty Leeds in the final who we had beaten twice in the league. The finial itself could not have got off to a worse start; we found ourselves 3-0 down at half time. Second half we made a bit of a fight out of it but it was not to be and we lost 3-2. All in all a good season and one we must build on and try to push on.

There were high hopes this season for Palace after getting to the play-off final last time out. When the board asked what we could do, we told them promotion could be achieved. However, that was going to be tough ask. Telford who had dropped down and Ebbsfleet who were getting stronger by the season was all hoping for the same. Drop Middlesbrough in the mix as well promotion looked a step to far this season. That proved to be the case, although we flirted around the play-offs all season we ended up finishing ninth.

The board was not happy and at one point, it looked as though O’Malley was going to be sacked but he somehow survived the dreaded vote of confidence. Although on the field the season will want to be forgot as soon as possible off it saw the club get out of the red and into the black for the first time in a while. The club need to start producing our own young players if we want to progress. This area has been hit during the hard finical times and had the youth budget slashed. We do not have a youth set up anymore so that must be the aim for the coming years. The board believe in O’Malley and have given him a new contract in the hope he can lead them to glory.

Short And Not So Sweet

After a good showing last year that oh so nearly saw the Premiership title return to Stamford Bridge, Kaufman was looking to go one step further and bring silverware to the London club. Big signings were needed in the defence and the pre season saw a mammoth price paid to stregthen the back line, Deigo, a Brazillian international, was signed for the fee of £77m from Corinthians, and several other centre backs joined to ensure that there would plenty of competition in the Chelsea squad. Victor Diallo also joined from Montipellier, the African right winger is highly rated and looked set to join champions Man City before City pulled the plug on the deal. Chelsea looked set to be there or there abouts but would it turn out that way?

The start of the season could not have been better after Man City had won the Premiership and FA Cup, Chelsea, because they finished second, would play against them in the Community Shield, and it would be Chelsea who won the much sought after Shield after a Marek Hamsik finish handed them a confidence boosting win against what many thought would be the main team to challenge for the title. However despite this a poor start to the season saw Chelsea slip away from City and looked set to just be challenging for second place again.

Come November Chelsea were in the fight to stay in the top 4, several teams were fighting it out seperated by just a couple of points, and a loss to Tottenham, who Chelsea had just knocked out of the League Cup, meant that they had slipped to 7th place, although they were just 1 point off 3rd. Roman Abramovich did not like the look of this and straight after the loss to the London rivals called Kaufman in to his office to have a word. That word would be fired. Kaufman was sensationally sacked not even half way through the season, despite still being in the League cup and qualified for the knockout stages of the Champions League. This coming just a year and a half from Paul Lambert's sacking, when they were 16th after weeks of not being in the top half, Roman obviously had higher standards for Kaufman and saw fit to remove him from the job.

Kaufman was upbeat and said he might look overseas for a new job and that he held no grudges towards Chelsea whatsoever.

Ich bin ein Leverkusener

After a couple of weeks seeing the sights, Jonny Kaufman was once again in a top tier job, this time in Germany. There were reports that Kaufman had been approached to be the new manager of Malaga and that he was just delaying in order to get his things in order, however it seems he was waiting on other offers to come in. Bayer Leverkusen were sitting in mid table after hoping to finish in the European places, however they were just 9 points off top place, with the league being so tight.

Leverkusen had found goals hard to come by and they saw Kaufman with his defensive approach as the perfect man for the job. Kaufman brought in another Englishman to help him adjust in Dave Watson to be his number two, together they would find that ze Germans do not like to listen to ze English dogs. Although Kaufman had a better time understanding his German players better than when he had talked to other managers such as Scotsman Davie 'Plymouthrock' orr, or Scouser Neil 'catlover92' Davis.

Diego Buonanotte would be Kaufman's first big signing, after his release from Man City he would go straight in to the Leverkusen team and would score on his debut. However Diego could not push Leverkusen enough and the adjusting to Kaufman's new tactic in December, meant that they would just miss out on a European place, however Kaufman seems to have a good base to build on and with some attackers just needed maybe Leverkusen could win the Bundesliga.

Season 19/20update to NOV

At the start of the season we Telford where given no chance of staying up, our only hope was for a good solid run, built on last season’s form...

Bolton were up 1st, a club that had just appointed Neil Davis as there new manager, as everyone knows Neil has a mouth and loves to rant and rave about how he’s gonna win this and do this etc

He boasted in the press Telford where the bench mark for Bolton’s season 3pts no sweat...granted after 20mins you would be thinking 'oh maybe Davis is on to something' ...but come 87th min you would be thinking 'nah Davis is talking out of his arse again' as we lead 4-2, sadly we concede two late goals allowing Bolton to level the game 4-4, and I mean late 95th min.

Our following game was a 5-5 thriller with the Posh in the LC which we won on pens.

Up in till our 2nd rnd LC game against Everton we had managed to score 20 goals in 5 games, this came to an abrupt halt with a 3-0 defeat to Everton and a 9-0 trashing by Leicester...... many thought our season was over and we had used up all our luck up in the 1st few games.

No you never write off any team managed by Orr, this was the case for the next eleven games which saw us win 10 and draw 1, putting us top of the pile by 7points and looking good.

During the run Orr was approached by many clubs Derby, Middleborough and Stoke but each one Orr declined to comment on, the rumours are he was offered all three and refused them. Then rumour about Forest broke that Davie Orr was being lined up to replace Eddie Howe who was on the brink of being sacked, some have stated the timing of the rumour didn’t help as Telford had Forest next in the league at home..Howe was sacked on the 6th after losing 2-0 to Charlton mid week...The Friday before the two clubs met Orr was asked by the media about the Forest job, he broke his silence and declared Forest are his club and would love to be the manager.

The players looked dejected against Forest and Forest took full advantage and trashed us 5-1 then final nail was hammered in on Monday when Davie left Telford and joined Forest...

Time to set things right part 2

After last seasons competitive push to the Championship Final where Wigan lost to Ipswich, the defeat was a heavy one to bare. Over the months of the pre-season Stevens took it upon himself to see where and how we went wrong and the fact it it was all down to the former manager Neil Davis.. some really bad fringe players were in the team leeching money out of the team with some extravagant wages for what they provide for the team. With the board now sending a memo down to say that this seasons wage budget had been reduced by 40k, players needed to go so the fringe players were booted out and replaced with some promising youths from Denmark with a few english also brought in.

The seasons media expectation was an 8th place spot for the Latics which seemed very do able after last season, and with Neil Davis raving about how he was going to win the league once more this season the players were told not to let this happen. When the season began it seemed pretty evident that Wigan could be a team to be reckoned with this season but with Stoke being hailed as the favourites from the media to win things were gonna be hard. A run of a few games helped Wigan into the play off positions just behind Telford and Bolton with the gap being 2 to 3 points.

This was to be a great season for Wigan in the English Cups, reaching the semi finals of both the FA Cup and League Cup.

With the League Cup run Wigan started off with: a 3-0 win vs Newport County,4-0 against Doncaster Rovers,3-0 win over Brighton, Fergus Martins Aston Villa were next and were knocked out on penalties 4-3 with the game ending in a 1-1 draw. The quarter finals saw a trip to West Ham where it was a rather tense game against the premiership giants but we came out of it with a 1-0 win..the semi final games versus Neil Davis' Bolton were a little different with Wigan failing to turn up for either leg and ended up getting absolutely hammered.

The Fa Cup though was a little different starting off with a game to former employers Coventry City which ended 3-1, a 1-0 win against Watford then took us to Southampton where we won 1-0, next was the quarter final tie against Barnsley where Wigan managed to pull a 3-2 win out of the bag. After that game the semi final game took Wigan to Stoke in another hard fought game which Stoke ended up winning 1-0.

With all the cups now out of the way the Latics could now concentrate on the Championship and the push for promotion. Stoke though had 4 games in hand due to their commitments in Europe and the FA Cup were the one team that Stevens and Davis were really keeping an eye on.. With their results coming through after them playing every 3/4 days at the end of the season they ended up with 2 draws, a win and a defeat which kept the league wide open. Wigan then had to play Stoke next and came out of it with a 3-1 win, that game pushed Wigan top of the league and in pole position to secure their place in the Premier League next season.

[video=youtube;Bvn2rhVOEEo]

It then took Wigan one more game to secure their place in the Premier League. Bolton had to play Stoke with them also looking for that last place for automatic promotion, Bolton however did come out of it with that win which was a great moment for Stevens and the Wigan faithful as it also meant that they had won the Championship with 1 game to go. With the title in the bag Stevens threw out a fringe team against Telford in the hope that Telford would beat Wigan and set up an exciting end of the season up/down moment for the teams struggling to reach the play-offs. But the wigan fringe team managed to pull out a 2-0 win over Telford with 2 goals from the goal machine that is ANDY CARROLL! Carroll would also make it into the Championship Team of the Week!WHAT WAS THE CRY FROM THE MANAGERS OFFICE ON THIS DECISION

Wigan had ARRIVED BACK IN THE PREMIER LEAGUE! and immedietly said were gonna get trounced next season due to all the loans the club has and the really bad finances. But we'll see..

Championship:

We started off in amazing form in the league and was sitting in 1st place but as usual the team fell apart and morale dropped, by the last game of the season we was sitting in 4th place and had to hope that results went our way in the final game or we was doomed to the play-offs. We had Preston away and came away with a great 2-0 win to do our part, and with Stoke drawing 2-2 away to Bristol City and Peterborough lost at home to Wolves then it was confirmed that Bolton would be playing in the Premier League next season. A fantastic effort from all the players and staff. Craig's Wigan won the league but I was not too downhearted by the fact my rival had took over my former club and managed to clinch the title as wew ould also be joining him in the top flight of English football.

League Cup:

We had a fantastic run in the League cup as we went all the way to the final to face Chelsea at Wembley, on the way to the final we managed to beat Alex's Manchester City and also them ****s over at Wigan as we smashed them 9-1 over 2 legs in the semi-final. The final didn't go our way though and our hopes of European qualification were shattered as we lost 4-1 to a strong Chelsea team.

The Future:

Team will not be good enough for the Premiership, this is FACT. A lot of work is going to be done in the summer, players have already been told that they are not wanted and the club and the process of offloading them has begun, the players are in my plans should be good enough for the prem but I will still be bringing in a lot of new faces. This all depends on how much the board are going to give me for transfers in the coming months.

If we can keep morale up and pick up some early points in the League then we have a great chance of staying up. As long as Wigan go back down and we stay up then I will be happy !

Leverkusan Manager Insults

After the shock revelation that Neil Davis has stepped down from his postion at Bolton Wanderers, former Huddersfield and Chelsea manager and current Bayer 04 Leverkusan manager was asked to comment in one of his post match conferences.

"I have never seen a manager be so stupid, ignorant, out of his depth or scared. Continually I hear from some of the other managers that Davis sets his goals high, usually trying to win the league. Of course thats what everyone wants to do, but only a few can achieve this, what do I think of him stepping down? Not alot, it just shows that he can't hack it when the going goes tough, I braved it out when I was battling relegation with Huddersfield, i've seen other managers fail, Davie orr for example, but now he's at his dream club. If you don't fight then whats the point? Ok he took a couple months out, but who hasn't done that, some of the best managers have done it and been succesful, I mean you have to start from somewhere, now i'm not saying Davis could ever dream of being among the best, thats just absurd, but he could at least try. If I had any respect for him as a manager or a person it's all gone now."

Some harsh words there, but many have agreed with them and i'm sure that they'll be plenty more who will agree. We will look to have more reaction to this mundane news story soon.

BREAKING NEWS!

With the breaking news coming out of the Reebok that 'incapable' manager Neil Davis has resigned once more due to the fact that he took an un-scheduled holiday during the pre-season only to come back to find he has 'NO PLAYERS' and Bayer Leverkusen's Jonny Kaufman slating Davis publicly in the media. It was Stevens' turn to add something with words coming out the DW Stadium that Neil Davis always looked like a manager that would buckle under pressure even so early in a season and seemed out of his depth in the Premier League.

Nottingham Forest's Davie Orr and Wigan's Stevens look set to be in for a tough battle to stay in the premier league this season.

It is also believed that Davis actually heard back from the lower league teams, with them coming out and saying

Rumour is that Clubs in the BSS have been sniggering and taking the **** out of the situation and are not likely to have any interest in Neil Davis after his 'excursions' away from clubs, keep him away at important pre-season times

After a pretty horrendous season, Martin took stock, realising that actually, they hadn't done that badly for a squad who's avergae age was 22, but what probably do with a little more depth and work on the way the team should play. Clifford had already been dumped in the Reserves, Delph was next to go, and quite frankly, as a senior player, he had not pulled his weight at all. Shortly afterwards, trabsfer requests started to come in from a number of players, who were promptly told where to go. If they didn't want to play for the club, then that was fine by the boss. Kadric departed for Sevilla, along with Dutch keeper Esajas, who promptly got called up to the Holland squad, having started only 4 games all season for Villa. Vogt was sold to HSV, much to the chagrin of Leverkeusen boss, who has been in something of a petulant mood in recent days, whilst others were shipped out as rapidly as funds could afford. In to the club came five players who would bolster the numbers. A number of the squad players were once again loaned out to Barnsley and Hibs, in an effort to get them game time, whilst Derby took Voisin and Haslek on loan. That left Martin with 24 players at his disposal for the league, and with that, he was happy.

The seaon started at home with an eagerly awaited match-up against an old friend in Craig Stevens Wigan. And despite neither manager being present due to personal circumstances, Martin's boys emerged victorious triumphing 3-1 at home. What was to follow was nothing short of disastrous tho, as Millwall dumped Villa out of the league cup in a penalty shoot-out, after suffering an onslaught for 120 mins. With tired legs and battered pride, Aston Villa provided little resistance in the next three matches losing to Sheff Wed, West Ham and away to Man Utd. Immediately after the Man Utd match, Martin cancelled Sunday training and called a team meeting and when the team took to the pitch against Fulham, they looked rejuvenated, and came away with the win. Bolstered by this, the lads were chomping at the bit to get at struggling Bolton, Neil Davis, a close friend of Martin's finding things a bit challenging. Bolton batteled well, however a 1-0 win was secured to bring back to back victories, and the mood around the further incresed in capacity Villa Park was improving. Testing games were coming up, and if Villa were to do anything, these matches would show how far they had to go.

The next few matches would however see a pattern emerging from Villa. After losing to both Arsenal and Liverpool, The villains managed to win two games in a row, before losing to Newcastle. And so the pattern would continue as Villa would win home matches at a canter at times, humbling the mighty Chelsea 6-1, then losing away to Spurs, struggling away to teams in the relegation zone was becoming a real problem. A number of injuries began to pile up, and at times the Villains struggled to put together a side at times. Despite this, a number of players began to moan about first team football, even tho for a period the club had only 18 fit players and they were all getting game time. Confidence was beginning to sag, and the assistant began reporting that many of the players were finding it difficult to motivate themselves for the manager.

Worrying times were ahead, even tho Villa managed to remain stable in in the top ten going up to the Xmas period. And so the fans were dancing:

3901585065-12022012181214.jpg

The second half of the season continued in pretty much the same fashion as the first with Villa unable to gain any sort of momentum, or fluency in results or play and the end of season table would show that The Villains drew only 2 games all season, winning 19 and losing 17. If some of those defeats could be turned to draws, then the position would be so much better, however a 9th place finish, was still encouraging, given the relative inexperience of the team. With only 3 players over the age of 25, the squad was developing nicely, tho one position worried Martin, RB, and so he went to war with Leverkeusen over a highly rated Argentinian, and won! Having defeated both Birmingham and West Brom in the last two games of the season, Martin, the players, and the fans broke for the summer in relative good cheer.

As the players left on their break Martin reviewed player performances and Younis and Shlafer were moved on Kostadinov still refuses mutual termination despite being on the transfer list for 2 years. There is a rumour that Martin may be looking for one other player, but at this moment in time, he appears happy with both the numbers and make up of the squad, however, vultures are hovering over a couple of the players and should the offers be good enough, The Villains may be forced to move into the market again.

Year 2016/17

After finishing the previous season in 6th spot with a remarkable run of form that saw the spurs finish as the post December transfer window form side, the board rewarded Holligan with a further three year contract extension. The board’s confidence in their manager was highlighted even more when they presented him with a forty million transfer budget. Holligan spent little time spending it.

The scout setup at Spurs is first rate but Holligan didn’t need to rely on extensive knowledge for his blue chip signing. Mario Gotze was a global superstar plying his trade at Dortmund. After a procrastinated period of negotiations Holligan finally got his man for a Spurs record Thirty Eight Million Pounds. The big money spending did not stop there Holligan’s man in the South Americas had highlighted Current Argentinian centre back Mario Escobar as a player that would soon set the world alight. Holligan parted with a cool twenty seven million pounds to procure this wonder kid from Boca Juniors. Holligan padded out his squad with further youth that had been recommended by his scouts and Spurs were ready for the new season.

Spurs took a while to get going losing the London derby to Arsenal and getting their dinner handed to them at old Trafford but once the players got used to each other the results came in. With Edmar leading the line, Gotze providing the creative flair and Sandro mopping up in midfield Spurs started to play like prospective champions. The league Cup was won beating Liverpool in the final but the clubs good run in the Euro League was put to an abrupt end by a good Roma side in the semis. Holligan was disappointed by the Euro league exit but his eye was the big prize. The league was won with two games to go and Holligan had led his spurs side to a memorable League win. Their first for decades…

Year 2017/2018

Could Spurs win the league again, was last season a fluke? This was the question on everybody’s lips. Spurs were in the Champions League.

Holligan was given an extensive transfer budget as he looked to strengthen the squad to give him the scope to make a strong challenge in all competitions. The same pattern would emerge with Holligan spending the bulk of his budget on a couple of marquee signing, Holligan preferring quality over quantity. Iker Munian was bought from Athletic for £37.5m and Luciano Ratini a player that Holligan had previously bought for his old club Sheffield Wednesday was bought for the same amount.

Holligan looked at his rivals for the title. Paul Fotheringham had put a strong squad together at West ham utd, but the other big clubs had not spent much money. Holligan was confident Spurs would there or there about at the end of the season. The community shield was lost to Liverpool but that was the only blemish on a near perfect season where Spurs won nearly all before them.

At the halfway point in the season Holligan’s stock as a World Class manager was confirmed when Spanish Giants Real Madrid offered him a job. Holligan asked for time to the end of the season to think about his position, this was accepted. The league was won at a canter as all Spurs rivals took points off each other whilst spurs kept winning and a historic first Champions League was secured on penalties after a thrilling 2-2 draw with Lyon. On the Sixth of June Real Madrid came calling again and Holligan accepted…

Year 2018/2019

Real Madrid, or Royal Madrid probably the biggest club in the world a never-ending bank balance, Holligan had unlimited funds at his disposal. Board said here you go mate here is two hundred million to start you off with.

Well two hundred million is a lot of money of course it is, but its not when you have to totally rebuild an aging squad and be expected to win the league. Big Escobar was brought from Spurs the kid now a fully-fledged Argentinian International he cost £58m then uncompromising centre back Kyriakos Papadopoulous was bought from Liverpool for £45m the list could go on and on with top players like Wilshire, Costanzo, Di Lauro also being acquired.

As expected Real dominated the league but Holligan wasn’t settled, maybe his adaptability hidden stat was only one but whatever it was he hated his time in Spain, so when Man City sacked Martin Jol in December 2018 Holligan was the man they turned to and he didn’t think twice.

6824906665_85b1d20c77.jpg

Man City were in 6th spot but only 9 points separated the top seven teams in the league, anything was possible. Holligan went to town quickly and spent big money bringing in Evaldo along with Sunny Nwaogo both were standouts in a very strong West Ham team.

The Man City team was quality, Edmar was already leading the line and they had strength in depth so with the defence shored up with two quality Brazilians Holligan knew Man City would be hard to beat. And so it proved as man City went on an unbeaten run which would last 26 games and in fact the whole second half of the season. They won the league in style and Holligan won the Champions league against a strong Barcelona side with talisman striker Edmar bulleting home the header that would be the only goal of what was a pretty one-sided final.

So Holligan had won Three League Titles in a row and two Champions Leagues in succession and could enjoy his position as the only human in the FM12 Hall of fame.

Year 2019/2020

Man City with a Human manager in FM12 should be nigh on impossible to beat in an online game, but the pressure is that you have to win absolutely everything, and so it was. My board expectations didn’t give me a choice I had to win absolutely every competition that I entered.

First up, the community shield against Jonny’s Chelsea, no problem I thought I had whipped his ass 5-0 previously, to my surprise Man City were upset 1-0 by a Hamsik goal early on, bad start to the campaign. The league cup was won easily as was the super cup and world championship but I was shocked in the Fa Cup by Ipswich who beat me 4-3 and things looked bleak when Man City were put out of the Champions League on their arse by a surprisingly resilient Benfica side, every fecker was laughing, everyone knew that the board knew no loyalties to a manager who squandered their vast resources even if the league had been won before, they expected to be paid out in full every season.

Holligan knew the league had to be secured if he was to keep his job. Luckily for him the league campaign was far more healthier and with all the teams challenging below dropping points left right and centre Man city won the league again pretty stress free by 9 points from Tottenham.

So 4 league titles in a row but the pressure remains…

Knott Suprised by job offer!

After walking out on recently relegated Tamworth just two days after it was confirmed Knott was hoping for time to regain his thoughts and evaluate what happened at tamworth and put right his errors once he was back into club management.

Knott felt a drop to league two would be on the cards as his reputation of relegatingTamworth would be to much of a gamble for clubs to take on since this was his first time in the league and it didnt go to well.

Knott was getting bored around the House until a suprise phone call from the Middlesbrough chairman come completely out of the blue.

He said 'Knott' has a great way of pulling clubs out of freefall and turning them around and getting them promoted to where they once in.

He spoke in great length about the job he had done at Southend and said hes going to give knott 3 years to turn middlesbrough round then he would like to see them in the championship.

Knott signed the contract the very next day saying it was a big club and he could never have turned down a job like this.

The hard work starts here said a delighted Knott.

Play Off heart Break for Knott

The place was buzzing there was a new Look squad assembled and there was about 40 loans standing around waiting for a game of football. The fans were buzzing and so was the new chairman with his decision to install Knott as the Middlesbrough manager.

The club made some deals with local companies to secure the future financially of the club and people actually started to believe that this club could pull themselves out of the financial dire and put in some good performances on the pitch.

They started brilliantly and teams stood up and took notice of middlesbrough after winning 8 out of the 10 games at start of the season.

Knott seemed to get it right this season after the failure of Tamworth the season before.

After what was to be a long season the 46 games started to take there toll and middlesbrough started to wobble managing to secure a play off place.

Middlesbrough met Crystal Palace in the Semi Final of the play off's , which ended badly with the club falling short and crashing out after 2 legs.

Knott said it was a season to build on and next year the team will bounce back stronger mentally.

Middlesbrough show mental strength to go up through play off's

Middlesbrough fans, players and directors all come together to celebrate what can only be descibed as 'a job well done' season.

The team knew league one was tough to get out of and it was never going to be easy so they had to settle for another play off run. The same players and Staff were there this time round and knott did say the team would learn from there mistakes and the heartache from the season before and they truely did.

The steam rolled through the play off final to get back to where they belong.

Knott played down the bid celebrations knowing this day would come as this club was way to big for the division, but it was going to be knotts first season in the Championship with pretty muh the same players and a similar budget so the task was massive to establish the club as a championship side again.

The only target in Knotts mind was safety

Knott walks out on Middlesbrough

Not many could write this script but it was to be another chapter in the knott management merry go round, with middlesbrough sitting in 8th place in the championship and putting in some great performances life seemed all well and good at the club, the dark days of spiralling out of league one were a thing of the past and they were back hosting the likes of Stoke and blackpool again.

But sky sports news reports that knott has asked to have his contract terminated and the board have accepted.

Rumours are all ready starting to spread about knott becoming unhappy with the budget at the club with players leaving because the club cant affford new deals and the chairman accepted bids for key players with no money to sign replacements.

A key falling out between Chairman and Manager has seen this club back into turmoil!

Fans payed respect to the former manager for all he has done for the club and they hit out at the men at the top saying maybe its them who should be handing in a resignation!
