Dave.
The problem is that Murillo is a regular for the Spain U21s. He hasn't been declared yet though, so there's still hope if he ends up dropping out.

Dave.
BASQUE CLUB ROUND UP 2012 The sole Basque representatives of LIGA BBVA, REAL SOCIEDAD made a fairly good account of themselves, finishing 14th and ten points clear of relegation. It was good news in LIGA adelante too, with both Basque sides, ATHLETIC BILBAO and C. AT. OSASUNA winning promotion after finishing in the top three positions. BARAKALDO CF and SESTAO RIVER CLUB in the Second Division B1 did well, finishing in sixth and seventh. Both were unlucky to miss out on playoff spots. ALAVES won promotion from the Second Division B2, while REAL UNION lost in the promotion playoffs.SD EIBAR were disappointing, and finished 11th. In the Second Division B3, AVIRON BAYONNAIS improved to finish ninth. BASQUE CLUB ROUND UP 2013 A poor showing in LIGA BBVA saw ATHLETIC BILBAO relegated again, continuing their form as a yo-yo side. However, C. AT. OSASUNA and REAL SOCIEDAD both had solid seasons, and managed to stay up. In LIGA adelante, the sole Basque side ALAVES succumbed to a disappointing relegation. In the Spanish Second Division B1, AVIRON BAYONNAIS and BARAKALDO CF had solid seasons, finishing in the top half. Again however, neither were able to push on just that little bit further in order to get themselves involved in the promotion playoffs. Newly promoted CD BASKONIA were relegated, with just the single point to their name. In the Second Division B2, both SESTAO RIVER CLUB and REAL UNION finished in the playoffs, but neither were able to get any further. SD EIBAR again finished mid-table. canvey!!
Looks like there's a lot of uncertainty surrounding the Basque clubs. I like it at the moment, though, because it's quite quaint when a nation is small before becoming world-dominators ! KIU .

However, they did finish second, and have done enough to earn a passage into the playoffs, where they will face Israel over two legs for the right to play in their first ever major international tournament. Admittedly, they did it by the skin of their teeth, but a fantastic first international qualifying campaign has seen the boys from the north of Spain outshine many seasoned international sides and reach the 2014 tournament in Brazil. They have been drawn in a massively tough group - 2014's Group of Death. It contains Asian champions Egpyt, North American giants Mexico, and the hosts and favourites, Brazil. It's going to take a lot even to get any points on the board, let alone qualify. We'll have to wait and see what June and July bring.

Dave.
Yeah, it is a tough group. Dave.
PAYS BASQUE WORLD CUP 2014 It was a tough group, and the likelihood of the inexperienced Basque side making it through was always going to be minimal. They had a very good go at it, beating Egypt, holding hosts and favourites Brazil to a draw, and losing narrowly to Mexico. Better luck in 2018! World Cup 2014 Group Stage Losers Uruguay, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Honduras, Paraguay, Switzerland, Scotland, South Korea, Colombia, Japan, Ghana, Chile, Pays Basque & Egypt.
