Tethys
I recently stumbled across a christmas present of mine from last year. A football book it was. An encyclopedia of football to be precise. So i put two and two together and thought i would create a new database with all these golden oldies in it! Now I realise the FM is due out very soon so I'm wondering whether or not this is a worthwhile idea. So is there anybody out there willing to stick with FM08 and give it a go if I make it, or should i stop before i even begin?

Tethys
im thinkin of leavin it until the 09 version comes out. im guna list the ppl that im guna put into the game below so if anyone as any ideas of who i've left out they can let me know. bearing in mind i won't be putting prominent figures of the game back into their heyday, e.g. roy keane. in the same way i wont be reducing the age of the retiring stars, e.g. ronaldo, luis figo. its basically the by-gone stars who havent made it big in management. more or less

ILuvManUforeva
Ok, firstly, Fernando Redondo of Argentina, one of the greatest midfield players ever is missing. Kubala is Hungarian or Spanish, not Czech, and Dejan Savicevic is Serbian, not Croatian. If thery're listed as those nationalities in your book then you've been sold a forgery. Spleen!
Kubala is Hungarian or Spanish, not Czech, and Dejan Savicevic is Serbian, not Croatian. If thery're listed as those nationalities in your book then you've been sold a forgery. Kubala was born in Hungary, but did play for the Czechoslovak national team briefly, before going on to play for both Hungary and Spain. So I guess he could go down as any of them. Savicevic is actually Montenegrin, and played international football for the now defunct Yugoslavia. So again, a choice between Montenegro and the new Serbia. So again, a choice between Montenegro and the new Serbia. I confess I didn't know Kubala had played for Czechoslovakia. But Di Stefano played briefly for Colombia when they were disaffiliated from FIFA. I knew Savecevic played for Yugoslavia, but I thought he was Serbian, but if he was born in Monetnegro then so be it.
Tethys
Yeah there are few in that selection of players who have indeed played for two countries, in some case even three! With regard to that, I will set the corresponding nations to that person and allow them the choice of which country to play for in the game. For instance, Jose Altafini played for Brazil in the 1958 World Cup and was transferred directly after that tournament to AC Milan. He then played for Italy in the 1962 World Cup! So I won't set his nationality as definite but let him choose in the game.l

Tethys
It isn't Hurest, it's Hurst. There's no E. Just a simple typo, i'm aware of how the man's name should be spelled. But good on you for being eagle-eyed As for Roy Keane; Being Irish myself he would be the first person in the database but it is my opinion that those players who are involved in the game as managers shouldn't be recreated. Thus the likes of Gianfranco Zola wouldn't be involved either. However, those people who are considered backroom staff, e.g. Franco Baresi as scout of Milan, will be involved. Subsequently, Mr Baresi will be transformed into a teenager again with attributes updated accordingly, and AC Milan will find themselves short of one scout.
