Appealing against red-cards?

Has anyone ever actually been successful in appealing any suspension for your players?, I've played for years and never once have I had a successful appeal, normally they add another 2 games on to the ban if anything. Is it even possible to win your appeal?

I think I have before but not sure whether it was in FM08. There is no point in appealing for violent behaviour as you will never get that, though. If it says in the message that there is a disciplinary committee discussing whether to extend the ban that is a sure sign that an appeal will not be successful. Also if your assistant says no to appeal then I don't think there is any point either.

Yeah, remember Aliadiere's red card last season, Boro appealed and the FA added a game extra on to the suspension. That is just one example.

I have successfully appealed on FM08 a few times, actually in my current save chances are that dodgy offside/penalty/red card actually WAS dodgy and the F.A have to 'stay silent' or my player gets to play next game.......which just proves I'm getting shafted by the refs.

Just the once, it was when Micah Richards gave away a pen and got sent off for a professional foul, even though the opponent was running in the opposite direction to the goal. Ass Man told me to appeal, and it worked.

you rarely win on appeal... almost as pointless of a feature as media talk on controversial decisions after the match!!

I think it would be a gd addition to FM2009 if they were to add in your assistant managers view of whether to appeal or not, as sometimes it is hard to judge by watching replays etc.

yes sometimes you cannot see whether a penalty should be given for handball for example really well on the 2D reply

I'm in the year 2043 and have had 2 successful appeals. It is very rare to get them, as I appeal most of the time unless the red card is obvious.

Once in FM07 I had an successful appeal. But thats it! 8)

Just the once, and then he elbowed someone in the face and got sent off again couldn't really appeal that one
