ThePoshTom
Does anyone know how much money it costs for a club to go from semi-professional to professional? I've won the Blue Square South and FA trophy, whilst reaching FA cup 4th round in my first season and now have over 1 million in the bank. I now lead the Blue sq Premier at the start of december and I'm in a FA cup second round replay (Sheff Utd) so more money should come in. How much more money will I need to raise to go pro. ljwjones
get into league 2 and you will turn pro.
Smac
Got 4mil in the bank in the BSP and just came to January. Not Pro yet! If I remember right Ljwjones is correct in that League 2 teams just about always turn pro. In other countries I've experienced more indeterminacy in when a team goes Professional. Your 1m in the bank should be plenty though to do the re-signing of players to full time contracts. What is your wage total at the moment?
easternhawk2
(This is my other account-ThePoshTom). I currently spend around 6k a week and I have a budget of 10k a week. Also got a 250k transfer budget too.
vlobben
"Not enough money to turn professional" appears to be just a blanket message with no other meaning that "You won't be able to turn professional yet". As someone said earlier, it will happen when you hit league 2 regardless of finances
LFC Rule
How do you turn pro in other nations. I managing in League of Ireland. I've risen from bottom of league 2 to 3 time champion of league 1. Shamrock Rovers are pro so how do I turn pro? Do I need a certain level of money?
ljwjones
you can help by getting all players and staff on full time contracts, getting a nice amount of money in the bank, then with any luck it will happen
LFC Rule
The board won't let me sign fulltime contracts
ljwjones
what does it say when you ask to turn pro?
LFC Rule
It is not an available option. It says club can't afford to turn pro. How much does it cost? I currently have 1.9mill in the bank.
Nobby_McDonald
There is no immediate cost to turning professional but going forward you will have increased wages as players will be on full time contracts and you'll also be paying more tax.
hursty2
My club in it's second season of the Danish top tier still haven't turned pro and we have a 2.5M balance. We're getting left behind fast by all the other clubs.
Bababui
There is no real advantage to turning pro and it will raise your overhead.
hursty2
There is, most staff don't want to sign part time contracts.
Bababui
You dont need to be pro to have fulltime staff I believe.
vlobben
In 2011 I was able to offer fulltime contracts as a part time club. In 2012 I didn't have the option Another advantage of turning professional is the increased amount of training your players do. The workload is capped on a very low level for part-timers. hursty2
You dont need to be pro to have fulltime staff I believe. I'm sure of it, unless it goes on a club by club basis.
