Throw ins in opposition territory

Hi guys,

I'm having a problem and it's doing my head in. Every time I get a throw in deep in opposition territory my thrower throws it as far as he can toward the goal which ends up in me losing possession and the opposition counter attacking me. Is there a way to stop them from pointlessly throwing the ball in that far? I'd prefer them to throw it back toward my end so I can at least get someone to try to cross it in or something.

I realise you can set throws to "short" etc, but in when I get throw ins in the middle of the pitch, the long throws usually help me a lot so i'd rather not set it to "short".

He probably has the "possesses long flat bullet throw" ppm, which overrides any instructions you give him. Not much you can do about it except make sure other players take the throw ins.

It happens to me aswell mate. Ive conceded about 5 goals all season directly from this. Not too sure if its a bug, but my thrower (18 long throws) throws it directly to the opposition and they score on the counter

Sounds like he has the PPM 'bullet throw'. If so, set another player to take throws, or ask him to 'untrain' his PPM.

Unfortunately you can't set one player to take throws in your own half and another nearer the goal; it's either your 'long throw' man or someone else!

No, I have 2 throwers for each side of the pitch and they don't have the PPM "bullet throw". They take the throws the exact same way when near the byline. Would be nice if they played smarter.

Oh I feel you, I effing hate this behaviour. Every time I get an offensive throw in I know I'm getting a counter attack.

This has been in the game for at least the last four versions (used to do my head in on the old 2D as well). They just try and throw it as long as they can down the line, ignoring short options and losing possession.

Yes you can. I have no one with a good throw-in attribute so I go for short or quick throws. i don't lose possession from them.

What happens if you set your team instuctions to "retain possession" If they just throw the ball away then it must be a bug.
