Most important components to play FM

My laptop has packed in (just about) and I'm looking to get a new laptop. FM is the only game I play so am I right in saying the graphics card isn't THAT essential as the graphics on FM are hardly demanding. I was under the impression the most important components are RAM and the processor speed? The laptop which has just about packed up has a 2.2 GHZ processor and 3gb RAM and FM runs nicely.

Can anyone a little bit more technical give me some more advice on what to look for?

The things you want in a good laptop for FM is:

- Lots of RAM (3gb+)

- Good processor

- Good graphics card

RAM is really important because FM has to process very much data. and if you don't need 3D match engine then you don't need a good graphics card

Actually I think you should think about the graphics card in any new machine you get. You really want one that has its own graphics card with its own ram so it doesnt use any of the system ram.

I suppose what kind of machine you get depends on the amount of money you have to spend.

Although I normally use a desktop I've been considering getting a laptop because I might be going into hospital soon for an operation so might be confined to bed for a while I recover so a laptop would be ideal and it would also help with my hobby (nature photography) when I'm out and about.

I've been thinking seriously about this machine or at least something along these lines.

Yes it is unfortunately but I think the good graphics card and high amount of RAM (4gb) make up for that. If you are willing to fork out some extra cash there are these three which are slightly better.

Yes it is a pretty poor processor. I was looking on the staples website for something else and came across this laptop that has a better processor and is a few quid cheaper as well.

It's not info, it's my opinion as you can see. Miles Jacobson said FM11 demands will be most probably similar to FM10. So, given all the improvemnets on FM11 I think it will be liitle more demanding then FM10.

The Processer is the most important thing for FM so get the best one you can, RAM isn't that important as most laptops now come with 2-4GB RAM (and the RAM can be upgraded depending on the model) and with the graphics card anything above the mini spec should be fine, another thing to consider is the speed of the hard drive, whilst screen size would be down to your personal preference.

Don't forget about tea and biscuits or bread and cheese, I think it's a must for FM.

I think most computer companies only supply the laptop with a box, a manual, charger and a Install CD.
