wardog
Id also recommend reverting to the classic style tactics. Far easier imo. Expessially if you have played an older FM or before 2005 CM

Wonky
I'd start off with a big club with loads of money just to get the feel of it. Don't try to get used to everything straight away. First just buy players and play games, then move on to figuring out how the training system works, and so on. Just do the first game as a feeling out process. Once you're used to it, then start up a more serious game. I hope that helps.

I always use a big club to get a feeling for the game, any new features and quirks etc.

Expessially if you have played an older FM or before 2005 CMSeriously bad idea in my opinion. The new Tactics creator is much more realistic than the sliders were. Misodoctakleidist
If you want simplicity, I'd recommend ignoring all the posts so far. You can be successful if all you do is buy players and set up a decent tactic that suits them. There's no need to read guides or anything like that - just use your knowledge of real life football. H Y P Z
Turn on the help suggestions and start a new game. It'll help you, since you are unfamiliar with a lot of the features.
