Not a bad squad to inherit. Needs a bit of work, but not bad!

Slightly concerned about the number of players leaving on already arranged transfers in the window coming up, but the players I have seem good, just have to hope the board will let me spend the transfer revenue

July was a better month than it appears, as we had already gone further in the Copa Sudamericana than the board expected, and we utterly dominated against Cerro, but conceded two late goals to only draw

which left the Clausura table looking like this

and we're top of the overall table

So how does the Uruguayan league system work?

@Neotropolis

OK, here goes........

The season is divided into three. First up is the Opening Stage (also known as Apertura), which has 16 teams who play each other once each.

The winner of the Apertura qualifies for the Championship Playoff.

Next up is the Intermedio. The 16 teams are divided into two groups of 8, playing each team in their own group once. The winners of each group meet in the Intermedio Final, the winners of which qualify for the Copa Sudamericana, the equivalent of the Europa League

Then comes the Closing Stage (Clausura), which is exactly the same as the Opening Stage, but with the fixtures played at the other team's stadium. The winner of the Clausura plays the winner of the Apertura in the Championship Playoff, with the winner being that season's Champion. There is an overall league table which ranks the teams across the three sections, a total of 37 games. The bottom three in this table are relegated.

If I've missed anything, or made a mistake, one of the resident South American experts will, I'm sure, be able to add more details or corrections.

If that's the Axel Muller I think it is, you shouldn't have let him go

He's joined a Primera B side, and he wasn't doing anything with us, so I let him go as he was moaning about lack of first team football. My scouts only rate him as a 'useful signing' and he's nowhere near the level of Facundo Waller

April started badly, but we won the last two

and we're up to third, but it's incredibly tight behind us, with only 1 game to go

and, near the end of the month, the board agreed to let me start my Pro Licence, despite the fact I'll be out of contract in June

South American leagues are oh so deliciously complicated. Did I win the league? Who knows!?

Any way great read so far, good luck with the rest of the challenge!

Enjoyable read, following! :brock:

Thanks guys. Yes, most of the South American leagues are complex and convoluted, but as far as I know, only Colombia has two champions per season, and that champion can finish as low as 8th in the overall table due to the end of season playoff. I'm hoping to top the table in the regular season, and then go on and win the Championship Playoffs, but as long as we win the Playoffs, it'll be job done, although if nothing suitable turns up, I'll stick around and try to be next year's first 'champion' too.

September was a massive month, and we came through it really well, dropping only two points in the league, and we reached the Cup Final too (and I bet no-one will guess which game we had a player red carded in with the score at 0-0. It wasn't the Tolima or Jaguares games)

We end the month 6 points clear at the top

October was a pretty decent month, despite suffering my first league defeat in Colombia, and I think we're going to win the Colombian Cup

and we have also guaranteed first place in the Closing Stage table too, although as discussed earlier, that doesn't mean we're Champions, it means we're in the playoffs to decide the League Champion. I've yet to discover whether there's an advantage to finishing top. I hope so
