The Bhoys - The Hoops

Glasgow Celtic Football Club - A somewhat fallen giant

Glasgow Celtic was first formed on the 6th of November 1887 by Brother Walfrid, an Irish Marist brother. Celtic were originally formed in the hopes of raising funds for his then charity, The Poor Childrens Dinner Table. The club took alot of there early inspiration from Hibernian, who were formed by the immigrant irish population some 13 years before. The original intention was to name the club Glasgow Hibernian ( hibernian being an anglo latin term for ireland ) However the decision was made to name the club Glasgow Celtic to reflect its scottish and irish roots.

On 28 May 1888, Celtic played their first official match, against Rangers and won 5–2. During their formative years, Celtic played in a white shirt with a green collar and a red Celtic cross on the breast, then switched to green and white vertical stripes around 1890. They made the switch to their green and white hoops in 1903.

The Glasgow rivalry between Celtic and Rangers is one of the most famous derbies worldwide, named the Old Firm. Matches between the two are usually fiery contests, played at a high tempo, with challenges flying in all over the pitch. More in more in recent years the clubs have had to lead by example, as both sets of fans have been accused of various sectarian chants and songs.

Between Celtic and Rangers, collectively, the two clubs have dominated Scottish football's history, between them, they have won the Scottish league championship 96 times since its inception in 1890 – all other clubs combined have won 19 championships. The two clubs are also by far the most supported in Scotland, with Celtic having the third highest home attendance in the UK.

The Green Brigade are Celtic`s most recognisable supporters faction, with the majority of them attending every home and away game possible. Arguably the Green Brigrade have brought the once legendary atmosphere and songs back to Parkhead, in an attempt to Spur the club on to win the title again.

1967 was a year to remember for every Celtic fan old and young, where a team formed of players who were born within 30 miles of the stadium, became the first ever team from Britain and indeed Northern Europe to win the European Cup, still holding the record as only one of 2 teams to win the Cup with players born that close to the stadium.

Celtic have had 2 other memorable forays into Europe, one in 1970 where they were runners up to Feyenoord, and the other in 2003 in Seville where they lost 3-2 in extra time to Porto. Celtic fans were awarded the fifa fair play award for the 2003 season, due to there extraordinary behaviour and good will.

When you watch Celtic play they are easily recognisable over all other teams, due to there distinctive green and white hoops, and the world famous huddle.

The club have had many loyal servants, and top class players in the hoops shirt, including such names as Willie Maley, Jimmy McGrory, Billy McNeil, Tommy Burns, Jimmy Johnson, Bertie Auld and such like, however in more recent years, Younger legends ie Kenny Dalglish, Martin O`Neill, Neil Lennon, Chris Sutton, John Hartson, Henrik Larsson, Di Canio have all graced the green grass of Paradise.

The club was originally based 500 metres away from the north east corner of Springfield Road formerly known as Dalmarnock Street, however due to the landlord of that time raising the rent from £50 to £450, the board decided to move the short journey west to its current location in the Parkhead Area. One Journalist commented that it was like "moving from the graveyard to paradise" Hence why Celtic Park is nicknamed as Paradise.

In 1994 major redevelopment work went on at Celtic Park to increase its Capacity, with the estimated cost of £22 Million to complete it, forcing the team to play there home games of the 1994/1995 season at Hampden Park.

The clubs training facilities are based at Lennoxtown on a 46 acre site near the Campsie Fells. The Celtic youth team plays there home fixtures at Barrowfield, the home of Celtics former training facilities.

Star Striker - Gary Hooper

First Team Squad

GK: Lukasz Zaluska, Fraser Forster, Dominic Cervi.
CB: Daniel Majstorovic, Kelvin Wilson, Thomas Rogne, Lewis Toshney.
RB: Mark Wilson, Adam Matthews, Cha Du Ri.
LB: Emilio Izaguirre, Charlie Mulgrew, Badr El Kaddouri.
DM: Beram Kayal.
MC: Ki Sung Yong, Joe Ledley, Scott Brown.
MR: James Forrest.
ML: Paddy McCourt, Kris Commons.
ST: Anthony Stokes, Giorgos Samaras, Gary Hooper, Mohamed Bangura, Greig Spence.

Squad Analysis

Goalkeeper

The goalkeeper position is alright for the first season, however after that i would strongly recommend strengthening it, whilst Zaluska will do as first choice, and Forster is an able backup, Cervi isnt a great prospect..

- Key man: Lukasz Zaluska

- Youth Prospect: Dominic Cervi

Right Back

Mark Wilson is a very solid rb and should be considered first choice, however Cha Du Ri is also very good if your looking for a pacey wingback, in Adam Matthews the team have a really good youth prospect.

- Key man: Mark Wilson

- Youth Prospect: Adam Matthews

Centre Back

The centre back position is up for debate, Majstorovic is somehow still our best CB, partnered alonside an equally able defender in Kelvin Wilson, Thoma Roge is the best youth prospect there..

- Key man: Daniel Majstorovic

- Youth Prospect: Thomas Rogne

Left Back

The left back position will be taken up by Badr El Kaddouri who will provide good service in both attack and defence. However he is only on loan until January when Emilio Izaguirre returns from injury, Charlie Mulgrew may also deputise here.

- Key men: Badr El Kaddouri, Emilio Izaguirre

- Youth Prospect: None

Center Midfield

Solid area of the team, Kayal, Ki, Scott Brown and Joe Ledley pack the midfield with loads of talent, definitely not needing strengthened at the present!

- Key man: Beram Kayal

- Youth Prospect: Filip Twardzik

Right Midfield

Is Celtics weakest area in midfield with James Forrest as the only recognised right winger. He is also the best youth prospect here, a must for strengthening!

- Key man: James Forrest

- Youth Prospect: Paul George

Left Midfield

Left midfield – The left sided midfield options again are relatively weak with Kris Commons, and just Paddy McCourt on that side, again needs strengthening .

- Key man: Paddy McCourt

- Youth Prospect: N/A

Strikers

Definitely one of the strongest, if not the strongest area of the team, with Hooper and Stokes, Samaras and Bangura providing a potent attack, that should worry most teams, doesnt need strengthened at the moment

- Key man: Gary Hooper

- Youth Prospect: Greig Spence, Bahrudin Atajic, Denny Johnstone

Note: The squad analysis is based on the default squad and should only be used to give you a brief low down on the squad and each position.

What positions should I look at improving?

Centre Back

With Majstorovic getting old, and no-one else of real quality in the squad, i suggest in the following season to update.

Left Midfield

Major Concern here, only two recognisable Wingers, one who`s stamina isnt great and the other who is getting older also, i would strengthen soon.

Right Midfield

This is a major concern in the squad with only 1 young player natural to the right wing, I would certainly bring in someone more experienced and with more flair to start, and also develop the youth.

Formation Analysis

CelticFormation1.jpgCelticFormation2.jpgCelticFormation3.jpg

Formation 1 - The 4-4-2 is a solid tactic spreading the ball about well, With your midfielder sitting making crucial intervention tackles, and spraying passes to your wingers, or your forward who ideally as Hooper will be a leading the line, off the shoulder of the defender in order to capitalise on any through balls.

Formation 2 - The 4-2-4 , is most probably my choice of formation, with the cms looking to spray the ball to the forwards and wingers. I would be looking to play a fluid control game here.

Formation 3 - The 4-5-1 is perhaps the best formation if you are looking to utilise the midfields full capability, however i feel as though it limits the squads attackers, which personally is a waste.

I think formation 2 is the best for the current players we have, with perhaps a Hooper, Stokes partnership. I would definitely recommend strengthening both wings of the midfield.

CoachesSeniorteam.jpgCelticyouthcoaches.jpg

As you can see Celtics coaching staff are really poor at the moment, once you are content with your squad, i feel this has an urgent need to be addressed, as a very minimum you want to have 3.5 stars per training element.

CelticScouting.jpg

With our Scouting Knowledge being ok, we could still struggle as we only have 3 scouts, and if someone poached one, the club could be in real trouble, as above when you are happy with your squad this definitely needs addressed.

Physiotherapists are all rather pathetic aswell, i recommend bringing in at least 1 of these in the first transfer window.

As an Assistant Manager, Johann Mjallby is alright for the moment, however i personally might put John Park as my Assistant Manager, because i only really use them for Scouting.

Nice one have you set up your corners or just using default? Im going to go with a 4-2-4

Just the default  and I was gonna but I couldn't leave out Ki, Kayal or Ledley :( I love them all. Izzy looks beastly btw. Can't wait for the full game and him fit

Struggling to make any signings so far.

Did anyone spot (what i assume is Mjallby's son) in the under19s? Timothy Mjallby shame his stats don't look too clever.

Same. Only player I signed was Camoranesi for the right wing and to provide experience to our squad.

Can't get Mcfadden just yet because of his injury but think I'll get him and move Ledley into the middle.

What wage did you get Camoranesi on?

I've had a quick play around on the Demo and I am quite impressed. Training still looks crap though. Especially liking the analysis tools and the interaction with players. Plus we look to have a great side.

Typical though, started a new game as Celtic day before yesterday on 11. Sitting top of the league by 6 points in January, with the Huns third 9pts behind, i'm not giving this save up yet! Oh and a £20m transfer budget too, at the minute though I don't need any of it, so i'm roleplaying our board by keeping the purse strings tight! :)

Nice win there Diesel. Only 51% possession though, you didn't have it all your own way.

bit more worrying considering i was going for possession football lol.

Should recall Daryl Murphy for the pens he has 100% record with them at Celtic iirc :D.

I think this will be thie first game where I go really in depth and try to mould a team to my ethos. Jock Stein #2 is going to be taking over at Paradise this year :D

A lot more emphasis will be placed on perfecting beautiful football and creating a harmonious squad. I'll probably look to create an envious youth set up and bring in Scottish youths. The challenge will then be to remain successful and create a foothold in the Champions League. I can't wait!

I don't know when to get it though, pre-order deals are good. I doubt i'd start straight away though, i'll be waiting for a patch or two. I can get the game for ~£25 now, will the price go down for say 12.2 or even 12.3? Looking at 11's prices now they're at £12.50 on amazon so i'll probably wait tbh. I don;t want to be a full year behind though.

Well tbh, its the games researchers that are at fault for that!

I've just encountered the first error! Fm has a serious error and won't load now lmao!

doesn't sound as serious as Maj being our best defender in this game :D.

Enjoying the hooper compilation there btw shame he isn't like that right now.

so far so unbelievably good best start I've had to any save ever.

Played 5 Won 5, 19 scored 1 conceded.

Through in europe, tied the away leg after beating Vojvodina 3-1 at home. Stokes is playing out of his skin for me atm too 10 goals in 7.

This is unbelievable fm has so many errors with it, it wont load! Ive tried all the help, so im going to delete it and try redownloading it and hope for the best!

Diesel what formation etc have you used

Fingers crossed for you mate, I'd try to help but I'm clueless with that sorta thing.

I'm using extremely exotic 442 with hooper as the deep lying forward and stokes as the Advanced forward (worked well on 10/11 for me too). Set to fluid and attacking.

Hope the good results continue but it looked a bit shakey in the euro away game.

majstorovic best center back???

Mulgrew is a far better player and defender than him.

I've been playing Wanyama and Grant Hanley, on loan from Blackburn, and its been going pretty well. Inexperience could be an issue but im hoping a better keeper coming in will compensate
