  1. I did the Exeter Vs Leicester rugby game today, which was very nearly called off. In the end there was a prayer read and an immaculate minutes silence, followed by 14000 people signing God Save the King, and I thought that did far more justice than no one being there. Imagine having full football grounds everywhere today doing that. I could get it on a lack of police reasons. But I don't understand the disrespectful argument. By all accounts, the Queen was supposedly someone who liked to get on with things and carry on. Carrying on seems like the best tribute, imo.
  2. I always get the feeling football is unfairly picked on, but then you see stuff like that, and what anthrax got and you can't help but see why football authorities panic. It's absolutely not all football fans, but the OTT behaviour is so widespread
  3. I'll wait till the features announcements, but in all likelihood yes. Yet to buy a version where I haven't massive racked up the hours in enjoyment. Still hate the match screen changes, thank god for @michaeltmurrayuk
  4. They got spooked, jumped the gun, expected everyone to follow (which is usually the case tbf) but hardly anyone did and now they're screwed.
  5. Premier League have almost certainly done it based on royal train etc, and thinking that's the right mood and everyone would follow. Neither of those things have happened. Which is why it should have been a government call.
  6. Blame the premier league and EFL, it was left to individual organisations. Rugby is off today and on tomorrow/Sunday
  7. Good to know they've done this after some units have started deploying. Who knew old protocol might not work in the modern day.
  8. It should be going by train. I know army units have left for stations, chaos if that changes as well.
  9. Odd thing to tweet, because it is a factor for any police force having to help with the royal train down.
  10. Has it been said by any authority that everything should shut down? Because pretty sure London at least is running full steam today.
  11. Yeah my mum barely knows who celebrities are let alone cares about them, I remember her being absolutely rocked by Diana's death.
  12. That's pretty much correct. We're given a protocol to follow in circumstances like this, there's 4 different categories, leading Monarch is Cat A, Prime minister is Cat B etc. If we haven't gone to air then it's minimal build up and presentation, if we have gone to air already we minimise breaks etc. The announcement came before United hence the minimal coverage. We're still not sure what is happening today and across the weekend
  13. Yep. I don't care at all about the monarchy, but losing my dad two years ago, and my friend a year ago was brutal and I wouldn't wish that on anyone, and I have nothing but sympathy for anyone going through it.
  14. Most people here are at best, not fussed about the Monarchy. Most still can see why losing family is utterly ****, and just wouldn't say anything
  15. Given the DCMS haven't announced it (not sure they have even met yet) no idea why he's announcing that. So far, he's wrong.
  16. Yeah we didn't know anything like the BBC detail, but were told enough to know it was likely bad news, and we have protocols in place that we follow.
  17. The sporting bodies want it. But upto the DCMS. Lack of police will probably be the issue. The Queens body will come back by train, which means hundreds of thousands of people along various parts of the route, which will need policing. Also it's likely to screw with travel completely.
