Just bought FM23 and after checking global achievements, I am surprised how easy this game can be

According to Steam achievements nearly 1 in 3 players had a 30 matches unbeaten run

It's often the case in the gaming industry that developers keep things easy, so to increase engagement and time spent by the majority of occasional players.  Your datapoint above clearly shows that FM is quite easy for most gamers.

SI should do something about it, for example, give preference options, so the player can decide to make the AI easier or harder to beat.

  2. Hello. Not "feeling it" is common but, the way you described it surprised me a bit. Memorizing names of AI players and league table leaders, or worrying about not getting into cumbersome, poorly designed game features don't sound very appealing to me either. Maybe you've outgrown FM a bit, maybe you have a healthier relationship with the game. There is a limit in the number of hours or mental energy we should be spending with any video game. So, kudos for you, you are not memorizing names of AI players or wasting your time with flawed FM features! You can still find enjoyment in a different perspective and rhythm with FM. You'll get it. Congrats!

Why's that? Genuine question btw, I'm just curious.

Newgens are newly generated players (often with cartoon faces). Regens are regenerated players, after they retire their profile may reappear somewhere in the game. Once real players retire after 20 seasons, all you have is these artificial players. I'm not a big fan of fake players, but some people don't mind it.

  4. Thanks for your replies. So, I finally got this club to fund my first coaching badge in this save.

Out of curiosity, I saved an alternative file and RESIGNED to see if I'd still be enrolled in the course or not. First, the club begged me to stay and offered to increase the transfer budget. I said no and left. To my surprise, though fully unemployed, my profile still showed that I was studying for a license. So, once the club has paid for your tuition, you're in for the license even if you leave the club.

(That would have been very mean on my part. I dropped the alternative save, went back to my original save, and signed a new contract.) :D

  5. I'm playing Ellera Calcio, a tiny club in Italy's fifth division. I want to leave because my Board won't pay for a coaching badge training. In fact, I let my contract expire and am on a month-to-month basis while applying for jobs elsewhere.

Funny that my club keeps coming back to me to offer a new contract and my team is doing really well, but they still don't want to fund a badge. I've asked some 3 or 4 times already...

As it stands, there is no way for me to communicate to the Board that I'll only stay if they pay for a coaching badge course.

A shame FM doesn't allow me to negotiate this in a new contract.

Any tips, or... this is it?...

Huh, I thought it was a default league. Apparently it's one I created though, here it is if you're interested:

It's not 100% accurate, since having every team need to re-qualify for the Serie D each year from the state leagues didn't seem possible. So instead it relegates 16 teams and keeps the rest.

I also changed team names, although again not 100% accurate. I changed them to what I like, rather than the official names. So every team has it's city in the team name. eg. Palmeiras Sao Paulo, instead of just Palmeiras.

Thanks for your work creating Brazil league D. It does look a bit complex IRL: 64 clubs ranked in 14 matches:

Question: I need a new save to play it right? I can't just save it and load it in my current save by adding this league?...

  7. I understand that I can unfollow a variety of topics by accessing the Inbox -> Social Feed -> Manage button. Even so however, there are many emails about the club and youth team issues that are not essential, and I'd like to unsubscribe them as well. Thanks.

  8. Do players of certain nationalities tend to have higher ratings for specific attributes? (For example, do Argentineans tend to have higher aggression; Germans more strength; Brazilians more flair; Spaniards more technique; etc?.).

We hear that some countries generate better newgens, but how about attributes...

Maybe someone ran or knows of some database analysis to find out about national attribute averages... Thanks.

  9. I understand that any player longer than 10 years at the club is a candidate for a testimonial match. However, I just noticed this item in my captain window (see below).

How do I find out what player has been designated as my testimonial player (Suppose I have several long-term players...).

Any tips on how this testimonial thing works or helps my club?...

    Thanks.

  10. I hear you, brother. I'm somewhat disappointed with FM23's new "revolutionary" features (squad planner and timeline are useless, and the recruiting system is so much worse than F2M22).

Having said that, I already paid for FM23, and I like the updated database. It also seems that the graphic engine flows better, besides other minor improvements (e.g., goal reviews, offsides, etc.)...

I'm sticking with FM23, and praying that FM24 will be better...

PS: Looking retrospectively, I think I already spent nearly US$ 1,000 with football manager over the years... Wow, that lots of money!

@phd_angel The 2 Ryzen ones have the same processor, however the intel one is a bit faster and has a better gpu, so overall it seems the best choice. I don't know however if the DDR5 memory will be an issue in running the game (I'd guess not, but not sure, someone else might comment on that).

Thanks, @Poison. Good catch on DDR5, and would love to learn more why it could be an issue...

My mind gravitated more toward graphic card, whether NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 is overkill (My current GTX 1010 still does a very decent job).

PS: BTW, this is my current four-year old machine: Alienware 17 R5. Intel i7-8750H @ 2.20GHz, 6 Core (12 CPUs). 16 Gb RAM, NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1010, dual drive (solid + dynamic).

  12. Dear @Smurf and all,

I'm considering a new gaming laptop that could run fast enough for the next five years. I'm not on a strict budget but don't want a top-shelf machines either. I reside in the US.

Would you please be so kind to share your thoughts on these three models, thinking not only of current FM23 but future versions as well. Which one is the best, to run FM the fastest? Thank you.
