  1. Thanks for sharing!

I haven't really tried it long term but there are a few options that can have an influence. As you say the FFP is a conundrum for me too and the Salary Cap seems to work every other time.

1 - However, on the salary side there is an option that prevents signing a player above a certain salary, it is feasible to set a maximum salary for foreign players as well as national players. There is also the option to raise this amount for certain players.

2 - There are also bonuses that can be given to teams that play national players in the first team.  I'm not sure how this works but it is conceivable that by granting this bonus only at the end of the championship with a high number of games played the less wealthy teams playing national players would be favoured at this level compared to the behemoths such as Real, Man City, Paris and others.

But it's true that for several years I haven't found anything that satisfies me perfectly...

Economics come in last as you need the game to be working and playing to properly judge that. You are moving the balance in a big way afterall.

You're right, it makes more sense

First check team numbers, so you have a basic idea of competition setups. As you say, Sicily and Sardinia are a bit bare. Consider reviving teams if that helps you (Italy does not have that many extinct teams I think).

Chexk if you can put the Kingdom of Naples together with Sardinia and Sicily. The Two Sicilies was called the Two Sicilies for a reason ;)

Indeed it would be more interesting and more balanced. Is it possible to create principality like Monaco without national team nor championship allowing to arrive simply a second nationality?
I should take a look at the Netherlands* that without doubt.

*EDIT: Basque Country (Spell Checker problem  )

  3. Normally Sicily and Sardinia would have their own championship but it would be very poor in terms of quality. Sardinia would have almost only one competitive team (at the beginning) and Sicily 2 or 3...
    I have a doubt.

Maybe as England's allies with Portugal they could also have a league with these 3 countries?

  4. Thanks for the advice @Wolf_pd
Yes, that's what I'm trying to do. I have just finished moving the Italian teams and their youth teams and organised the 4 levels of their championship.
I think I need to first prepare the "minor" leagues without even doing them in Basic Rules but to have all the structures ready (U17, U19, as well as the pyramids) once this is done I could start building them. Then I would look at the economic aspect and the transfer rules between the different countries)
    Am I correct?

I have in mind the previous Iron Curtain as a construction model.

  5. This project consists in making a league modelled on the First Empire (Conquests under Napoleon) stopping at the year 1812-1813.
In this topic I will post my questions in order to avoid polluting others (I will try to at least) as well as my progress.

Not everything will be accurate to the millimetre.
And there are no geopolitical ideas behind it, I just find it an interesting challenge.

The Empire spread over several countries:

    • France
    • Belgium
    • Holland
    • Luxembourg
    • Italy: Valle d'Aosta, Piemonte, Liguria, Toscana, Umbria, Lazio.
    • Spain: Cataluña.
    • Germany: Hamburg, Bremen, Niederscachsen, Nordrhein Westfal, Saarland, Schleswig Holstein.
    • Switzerland: Neuchâtel, Geneva, Valais.

    There were also autonomous provinces:

    • The Kingdom of Italy (Northern Italy)
    • The Kingdom of Naples (Southern Italy)
    • The Confederation of the Rhine (Germany)
    • The Helvetic Confederation
    • The Kingdom of Spain
    • Illyrian Provinces (Croatia, Slovenia, etc.)
    • The Duchy of Warsaw

I reserve these last two for a Balkan League and a Central European League.
Here is a map for more readability.

    image.thumb.png.f5b7b2942cf84ae4a01fef95d86ec838.png

For the moment the most complicated part was to distribute the German cities in different regions because by the Niederscachsen and the Nordrhein Westfal these regions straddle Germany and France. I therefore created two additional regions which are Niedersachsen (FR) and Nordrhein-Westfalen (FR) and then placed the "French" cities in them in order to be able to distribute them in the right divisions.

I would like to use the Brazilian system, i.e. a big league with the teams of the Empire and a state championship by which one will qualify for the big league of the Empire.

There would be a first part of the season dedicated to the state championships which would be :

    • The French championship grouping all the regions (Cataluña, Lazio, etc.)
    • The Northern Italian championship (excluding the French regions)
    • The Southern Italian championship (excluding the French regions)
    • The Swiss league (excluding French regions)
    • The German championship (excluding French regions)
    • The Spanish league (excluding Cataluña)

And then a kind of Super League with all these teams in the second half of the season.
I am still hesitating whether to build this Super League using Continental Rules or to include it in Secondary Divisions.

    image.thumb.png.3c3c2ab311611365146bd247e4566a56.png

At the moment I have not started building the leagues, I am already preparing the ground by placing the teams in the right divisions.

  6. This is what I am trying to do

    image.thumb.png.f47ffa4813daad3aa194b3bfd21bc499.png

In dark green it would be a single entity, in light green different entities (North Italia, South Italia, Spain, part of Germany, etc.).
So a Championship for each and then a kind of Super League regrouping all these countries on several levels.
I need to find out which are the local regions in dark green FM on the Balkan side and the light green ones on the German and Polish side.

EDIT: As far as the Balkan part is concerned, perhaps it would be better to create a Balkan League in order to avoid seeing teams such as Dinamo or Partizan languishing in the second division. The same goes for the Polish part. So why not also create a Super League (Visegrad) as well as for the Baltic countries and the Levan countries.

What is your first guess? ;)

    You will use it !
For several years I have had an idea in mind but I am never satisfied... There is a piece missing from my puzzle.
My base will probably be the First Empire, modelled on the Brazilian model with provincial championships. But I would like each province to keep its identity. For example, the Italian clubs should be mainly composed of Italians, the Dutch of Dutch and so on.
This must be done through the Squad Registration options and probably through the kind of trick I was asking about.
The easiest way to do this would be to build this league using Continental Rules with a promotion/relegation system and make the state championships in each country concerned to regulate the transfer market more easily, but what bothers me about this is that the matches played would appear in the players' history as a continental competition... I don't like it and if I use the secondary divisions I come back to the problem of the composition of the squads :seagull:
I will follow your last project carefully, I find it really innovative!

  8. I was sure you would have an answer
Ok so it's impossible to create or rename them and it has a wider impact than the transfer preference... It means that you can just move countries around inside. It's interesting to "create" a new world !
Will you use it in your new project ?

  9. il y a une heure, themodelcitizen a dit :

I believe I had that issue with putting Celtic and Rangers in the English Prem. It worked anyway because they had enough English-trained players already. Maybe you could add Italy to "nations counting as non-foreign" in France's rivalries information or something like that

    Yes, thank you!
In my idea I would have to reconstruct the continental cups so I would probably use "Homegrown Players From Club or Nation".
However it seems that by going through the standard continental qualification system only clubs based in the nation qualify...

  10. Il y a 10 heures, themodelcitizen a dit :

Rusty's right but I think if they get in CL they'll need to have homegrown players of their "nation" (not "based nation")

@themodelcitizen I'm Sorry, I did not see your answer
Do you mean that there could be a risk that, for example, Italian players playing in the French league would not be recognised as "homegrown player for Nation" in the UCL because their club is based in Italy although playing in France?

  11. Hello to all,

Does anyone know if it is possible to create this kind of region?
I see that you can change the countries inside (while keeping them in their continent) or even "open" one.
What impact does this have on the transfer preferences ?
Has anyone ever played with this to make a project ?
I'm just curious, nothing specific .

What did you set as their Based Nation when you moved them over?

IIRC national restrictions in transfers and squad registration apply to the Based Nation, rather than the Nation. So if you were to restrict transfers to no foreigners that might work still.

    @rusty217

    If I understand correctly:
I place Italian teams in France but they remain based in Italy and I apply the rule that French teams cannot recruit Italians, this will not apply to Italian teams playing in France?

To go further, if I apply this also in Italy as Italian teams can't recruit French players, Italian teams playing in France won't recruit French players and French teams won't recruit Italian players?

For the Squad Registration if I ask to have 15 players from the same nation it is required to have 15 players from the nation in which there is this Squad Registration (e.g. in France 15 French players including for a club based in Italy I think)
