Thanks for the replys - would this be affected by my training facilities I was wondering? Although I am in League One with Dulwich Hamlet my training facilities are Below Average...
I'm in league two with worse facilities managing Marine, so no. But you need to chose the right category though. What trait are you trying to remove?

They are there, but you need to look for the wording. One of my players has "Places shots" and if ask for a new trait I can ask for this:
Which is essentially, cancel the trait.

You don't need custom DB, just load more players from Africa when setting up the database. I always do this:
For all continents when I start saves, and it makes at least all national teams and all teams in the continental competitions always be full of players comparable to what they have in real life.
Here are some random teams and nations in my save. Only in 2029, but still.
And I don't have any African leagues loaded in my save. But the nations and teams still have full squads with a healthy mix of newgens coming through. And it also don't add much to processing time either, compared to adding a ton of leagues. So unless you want to follow the African leagues, I'd say load more players instead of adding leagues.

Hey!
Thanks for the database!
Does it work with the latest patch from 9th April?

Hey, yeah, it should work, but I always suggest to create a test run for about 5 seasons before committing to any custom files. Especially if you use any other files with it, as I haven't tested anything with other files.

On a sidenote, I really need to start gathering information on football controversies and see if I can alternate the competition histories as well (first and second level and main cup at most btw). Italy does provide some options for that, but my own Netherlands has some possibilities too.
What happens to the Bosman verdict? Will it still happen? Can you create a world where it didn't, technically in the editor?

Impressive beard, but no, he is not involved. Not that his absence makes things better in the long run. But I am happy to report this mass murderer disappears from history.
I just heard DR Congo and changed up due to changes to colonialism, and my thoughts jump to The Congo Free State, and thus to old Leopold II and his, well let's keep this suitable for the forum, rather exploitive and cruel reign there.

@madeirabhoy - Are you looking to get help with this, or are you just venting frustration? Many people have tried to give you pointers, but you seem to flat our refuse any advise. If you want to vent, fine, but let people know so they don't waste their time trying to explain or advise if you are not willing to consider it.

I do mine myself, since I don't really trust my assistant to say the right things, but based on that, I've previously suggested a bunch of things like this:

How are you guys that are a couple season in doing with your tactics? Are you trying to shape your youth players in to a existing and successfull(?) tactic or do you switch tactic every other season to better fit your new better players coming up? I've always struggle to decide if I want to stay with a successful tactic when a really good youth player breaks in to the first team and does not properly fit in immediately. Or i'm trying to shape a youth player to early and do not let them develop their strenghts properly because it does not fit my senior team tactic.
I usually retrain players, and I do it alot. As I've written before, I have a spreadsheet that shows how well their abilities fit into different roles based.
This overview I can put into roles and give it based on roles.
This allows me to see how far off a "perfect" player they are. And if they are very high in a certain role, then I will look at it and perhaps retrain. Of course, I can't trust this outright, as players with high physicals will rate high in all roles that require many of the physical attributes, but it can give me some hints where to look.

Yes I'm sure. He's joined my club without me confirming the signing and just played a match for me. If he's bought, as well as moving to his new club, he will stay at my club too but won't be able to play. I'll be able to scout him etc but he still shows up on my squad page. It's a bug of some sort.
In that case, please report it in the bug tracker.

Are you sure you are not misunderstanding? I think this means they signed a new contract with their current club instead of signing for you?

I play most matches, but on key highlights, unless we are in a rut and need us to win or if it's important cup matches. If the matches at the end of the season are dead rubber, I'll IR them unless I want to give the youth players a chance or two. The number of matches is a slog at times, but there usually are cup matches, the preview, or the intake itself not far off. Still, I do miss leagues with fewer games in a season at times.

XaW - Marine FC - Season 2027/28 (Season 4) - Sky Bet League Two
We are professional, and most of the players I want to keep has signed new contracts, as well as a new stadium that's going to be finished during the summer. Things are looking good for the club, and we are now currently the 4th biggest club in Merseyside, after Liverpool, Everton, and Tranmere. So we are aiming at 3rd soon, as Tranmere just got relegated from League One. This season went excellently for us, as we finished in a very strong 10th place. A main issue is that we are conceding a lot of goals, but the reason is that we've been lacking in talented central defenders, so we've used players from the original squad too much for this level. We are slowly transitioning over now, though, but we still need more talent there. For the next season, I think I'd be happy for more of the same. We need more quality, and the intakes are still quite good, so for now, we just need time and development to happen. It's also interesting to note that Rochdale, who got promoted alongside us last season by winning the playoff in the Vanarama National, also got promoted again this season by winning the playoff. So they did a back-to-back promotion! Well done, Rochdale!
FA Cup: We beat Chesterfield before we lost to Peterborough in the 2nd round.
Carabao Cup: We lost to Oxford United in the 1st round.
EFL Trophy: We got a group with Manchester City u21s, Rochdale, and Burton Albion. We finished a decent 3rd and got knocked out.Best players from the academy:
Rakeem Hughes-Mason 26e - A great season for us leading the line and scoring a lot. Also scored in every one of his 3 caps for Antigua & Barbuda.
Raphael Hughes 26b - He is now a first team regular in the midfield, and also likes to pop up with some goals.
Kevin Gallagher 27a - A bit up and down, but with double digits in both goals and assists from out wide, I can't complain much.New club records:
Most league apps - Sol Solomon - 227 apps
Most league goals - Manassé Mampala - 95 goals
Fastest goal - Freddie Sass - 1 minute, 4 secondsNo new upgrades accepted this season, but got a new youth category!
U18s
They moved to the U18 Youth Alliance League North-West this season and finished in a strong 4th place.
FA Youth Cup: They beat Atherton Colleries and Wigan before they lost to West Brom in the 3rd round.
U18 Youth Alliance Cup: They drew Blackpool, Salford, Guiseley, and Bradford City in the group stage and finished 1st to qualify for the knockout rounds. There they beat Stockport in the quarter final before they lost to Rochdale in the semi final.Around the world

Going from Level 1 Germany, Level 2 Oberliga Nord, Level 3 Verbandsliga Niedersachsen, Level 4 Landesliga Niedersachsen Ost, Level 5 Bezirksliga Hannover, Level 6 Kreisliga Hannover.
If your local region is Niedersachsen, it means that you still need to check for each team/city, where it is placed in the regional divisions for level 4, 5 and 6. That’s quite a bit of work (which I noticed again when working on West Germany this weekend). Looking it up for each team via Wikipedia isn’t possible, so you need to make a map, combine teams, a lot of admin. Instead of you do it via level 6, the Kreislevel Wikipedia will tell you exactly where you are and going levels up is pretty easy to find.
Just a comment about this, as I've done the same in Norway, it's a pain to get the regions correctly. And even if you do, the teams will move regional leagues to even out the numbers it seems. This seems to happen when say multiple teams from one region is relegated from the national level into the regionals, while the regions have fewer promotion spots. So it leads to certain regions being overcrowded and others lacking teams. I guess the game tries to even out the numbers, but it screws up regional leagues massively in my Norway file. If you know of a way around this, feel free to enlighten me!

Okay, I think I understand. The PCA/PPC is something we can't see and it's kind of randomly generated per-staff member, with a greater accuracy being dependent on their attributes and experience, basically. The only complaint I have is that my staff *never* seem to get anything right until it's, like, really obvious even to me - especially HOYD during the youth intakes. That's been my experience with both FM23 and 24, anyway.
I wouldn't give Man Utd the benefit of the doubt by missing out on Haaland though, lol. Their recruitment is atrocious and was already in decline about 15 years ago. Not buying Haaland makes total sense. As far as the youth intake, I think SI have said the level of correctness also depends on a few other parameters, and age is a factor. The younger the player, the higher the inaccuracy. It will also be more correct the longer the staff member has scouted or coached the player, to mirror them getting more and more knowledgeable of their skills. So to summarize, older players who have been at the club for a long time will be more accurate than newly arrived players from the youth intake. All depending on the attribute of the staff, of course.
As for Man Utd and recruitment, I don't disagree, it was just one example. If you want older Man Utd players from when they were better, how about Bebe?

XaW - Marine FC - Season 2026/27 (Season 3) - Vanarama National League
This season started as we did last season, we were winning matches. And with a few more youth players part of the team after the good intake last year, we had less issues with rotation, even if a few spots on the team were lacking quality backups. But when our first 8 matches included 7 wins and a draw it was apparent we were onto something big. And as the season progressed we stayed around the top spot, fighting with a few other teams. Along side this good league form, we had quite the run in the FA Cup too, so fixture congestion was a bit of an issue in January onwards. So we did have certain troubles there, but we overcame them pretty well. Going into the final matches of the season it seemed to be down to Rochdale or us for the top spot with us leading by a few points. However, we lost two matches to find ourselves level with them when both had 3 matches left. Both won the first two to go into the final match on equal points, but we had a slght advantage in goal difference. So essentially we had to equal whatever Rochdale did. They were away to an Altrincham side who was already relegated, while we faced a playoff bound Swindon at home. Luckily, one of our new players, Kevin Gallagher 27a, decided to have an amazing match for us, scoring and assisting in a very strong 3-0 win to clinch the title, and promotion to League Two!
After the promotion was secured, we also finally turned professional, so things are looking promising for us now! And a few days later the board has decided to build a new stadium.
FA Cup: We beat Hemel Hempstead, Mansfield, Chelmsford City, and Luton Town before we lost to Portsmouth in the 4th round. An excellent run that garnered in enough cash to allow an upgrade to our youth facilities!
FA Trophy: We beat Rochdale and Aldershot Town before we lost to Swindon Town in the 5th round.Best players from the academy:
Rakeem Hughes-Mason 26e - Our first choice striker this season and scored quite a lot of goals.
David Overton 25a - A strong season from our main goalkeeper.
Charlie Rowlands 26c - Started as a rotational option, but grew more and more into the first team as the season rolled on.New club records:
None.
Got a few more upgrades accepted this season.
U18s
They won the National U18 League North West this season.
FA Youth Cup: They beat Accrington Stanley, Atherton Colleries, and Chester before they lost to Fleetwood in the 2nd round.

What do the AI staff and managers base their judgement of a player's potential on, then? Does anybody know? We have to trust the staff to make those judgements without the editor, and we should trust the staff based on their Judging Player Potential score.
The staff doesn't see the _actual_ CA or PA. They see a PCA/PPC, perceived PA/CA. This is a number based off of PA, but also incorporates the reputation and the attributes of the coaching staff, as well as some randomisation I would assume. So even the perfect staff can be wrong in the game, as they can in real life. Some players can be overvalued and some can be undervalued. All AI staff, both at your club and at the clubs run by AI staff, use this. I've posted here before examples of staff being wrong in both directions, but the best staff will more often than not be close to the real value.
Think of it like this, there have been a million "next Messi's" around, hyped and bought by big clubs only to fail, but some got thrown away and found success at other teams. Let's take Martin Ødegaard as an example. Was projected to be a superstar, got bought by Real Madrid at 15 for lots of money, but never made it there. So the sold him for ~£30M to Arsenal after being loaned to them. Big money, but nothing compared to what he would be worth now. And Real Madrid doesn't have poor staff, they just made a wrong choice regarding how good he was. We can also look at Man Utd refusing to buy Haaland (as Solskjær said in various interviews) and probably plenty of other examples of scouts, coaches, and managers getting it wrong.
The game replicates this by not being 100% correct in regards to actual ability and potential.
