Something is very very broken with  this game. My aubameyang has 20 league goals in 28 league game. !st of all he has lost 2 pace points in just over a season despite being in excellent form. Physical attributes decline wayyy too quickly for older players on this game. Second, his average rating is 7.1. That's very low for someone who is on course to hit 25+ league goals. In reality he's rpobably been the best player in the league based on performances. Even when he scores twice his match rating is below 8!

There seems to be a misunderstanding about ratings here. Anything above an average rating of 7 should be considered a very good season. See this explanation from SI earlier this year:

On 25/01/2021 at 16:36, Neil Brock said:

So as part of the work done for FM21 was a new ratings system which aimed to reward players taking into account their active roles and positions. Previously the game weighted goals and assists heavier than anything else which meant you had attacking players often with a sizeable rating compared to other positions, or centre-backs who scored a few headers a season boosted more than those being defensively solid.

The average of performance is now 6.8 - this means any player above this level is performing to an above average level. Someone playing to 7 - 7.2 is playing very well and anything above that fantastically well. The players recognise this - a player won't have an awful morale if they have an average rating of 6.9 - they're still playing above average and the game recognises this.

We're aware that some stats aren't being picked up correctly and due to changes within our stats system, some 'key' aspects now are harder to achieve. This is part of the balancing we'll continue to do both in our next major update and for all future versions of the game.

If you have a specific example where a player's average rating for a singular performance doesn't make sense, please do raise it in it's own thread ideally with an individual pkm showing it and we can take a look - that's the best way for us to look at player ratings. However do bear in mind the match engine now in live code is behind the one we're working on internally which is a work in progress. This is why some bugs raised within the match engine forums, whilst helpful at pointing us at certain areas of the ME, can't always be specifically used as examples for tweaks or changes.

    Thanks.

No. Interfere all you like. ;)

Yeah, good point. I don't really care about the quality (I would want to play it in 3D, though). The main issue is how fast it would process with a fair amount of leagues.

Another big issue is Stream. Is it still Steam dependant? That's the only reason I haven't got a new version since Steam was introduced.

You have to activate it through Steam or Epic, so you need an account in either of those.

Well, I already have it. ;)

I got mine (brand new) for £500, so cost wise, I got a great deal.

Would it be able to run FM2021?

Not to interfere, but you could try to download the demo and see. It is the full game, but you can only play for 6 months ingame time. If it works there, you can buy it and continue your game. It's the best way to know because something that would be ok for one person would not be for someone else (eg low quality 3d, 2d only, etc).

A bit of a step back this season, and we finished just outside the European spots. For some reason we conceded a lot more goals this season, and I don't quite know why. I think we got very unlucky though, as we conceded 64 goals, but looking at xG against we should have conceded 35.17! So we conceded almost double what we should! Hopefully, that will normalise next season and we can fight back up into the European spots again. We need money since the club was in financial shambles before I took over. At least I've halved the debt so far, so we are on the right track at the very least.

In the FA Trophy we beat Mtarfa before we lost to Ħamrun Spartans in the 2nd round.

We had our first effort in Europe this season. In the European Conference League we lost to KuPS of Finland in the 1st round.

So, the leagues here in Malta are quite even, since we were competitive here already. Also, one thing I noticed is that many clubs here could also be Tolkienesque orc names. Don't tell me you couldn't picture a couple of orcs shouting "Zebbug", "Balzan", "Hamrun", or "Gzira" and growling! Just a fun observation I thought I'd share.

Eventually, we finished in a very decent 4th place, and I'm very happy about that. With a few right additions I think we could fight for the top spot in a few years.

In the FA Trophy we beat San Ġwann and Valletta before we lost to Gudja United in the quarter final.

Ok, either I'm a tactical genius, or the league here is pretty even. Seeing that I'm using the same tactic I had struggles with in the Merthyr save, I'm unfortunately leaning towards the latter. So we are going into the top tier next season and will compete against the big teams like Birkirkara, Hibernians, Sliema Wanderers, and Valletta! Teams, I've actually heard of! I'm expecting to struggle much more next season, but I think we need to hit Europe before we can go professional though.

In the FA Trophy we beat Xagħra United before we lost to Birkirkara in the 1st round.

Does anyone know anything about getting a reserve team? I've only got under 18s, been asking board to get an under 23s team but they just keep saying it's not the right time. We're in the PL, finances are fine, I've asked all throughout the season, not really sure when the right time will be?

I got one as soon as the draw for the EFL Trophy (Johnstone's Paint Trophy) happened in my last one. Don't quite remember when it happens. If you don't, it could be down to your youth level being too low. Should get it to level 1 asap for youth development reasons.

    * - As I wrote in my intro post the transfer there was before I took over.

A very fun season and we scored LOADS of goals. I used the same tactic as I did with Merthyr, and it works like a charm. Of course, we conceded a lot, but it works, so I'm sticking to it. The first thing I did was offer a lot of new contracts, since the club had loads of player on high wages who didn't really play. So non-contracts where they got payed for playing suited the finances much better and the horrible financial bleeding halted.

In the league we won it with a good margin down to the rest so we went into the championship playoff. There we won both matches to be crowned champions of this wole tier.

In the Amateur Cup we beat Attard, Żabbar SP, Mdina K, Mtarfa, and Għaxaq to win the whole thing.

    1. 11 leagues small database. ENG, IT, ESP, GER, FRA + NL, RUS, DEN, BRA, CHINA, sky bet champ. it's locked to 10 nations on FMT.

    2. 25k/w is very low, especially for the second player who i had to wait 8 months (free agent) till he brought his demand down by 75%. i can offer to cover half the wage and still no offers.

    3. both 2 star rep. club is 3 1/2 stars in the dutch league. 1 of them actually wants to leave and requested to be transfer listed. my scout isnt even returning with the usual "so and so club thinks the player wouldn't be interested", just straight up no club is interested.

the 2nd player was literally a free agent for 8 months

So it's FMT? I haven't played it much, so I wouldn't know if there are any differences to it, but the ones I said are for the full version. You should post it in the section for FMT, perhaps there you'll get more informed answers. Or, if you think it's plain wrong, then post a bug report so SI can take a look under the hood and see if they can locate any issues.

The level of football is quite poor, but I have this kid who came through the youth academy last season (ie before I took over) who is storming... He is a very limited player, but at this level being fast, a good finisher and even good first touch is more than enough to score loads! 7 goals in the first 3 matches of the season is quite good! :D

    yTlHoj6.png

  11. Most of the time it's one of a few things. Here are some things to note:

    1. Too saturated marked - If you have few leagues loaded and loads of players, then expect fewer offers. Why would they buy yours when they can pick up anyone else for free/cheap that's about the same quality? There's not much to do here other than try to balance it next game. Maybe adding more leagues can help, but I can say for certain.

    2. Too high wage compared to skill level - This is very common in many cases I've seen of users struggling to move unwanted players. Either because they have offered too much to lure them to their club, or because the contract was too long and the player hasn't improved or is too old to improve more or have started to decline. Solution here could be to loan out, or offer the player out with you paying a percentage of the wage. Otherwise you are stuck with him for a while (have a look at how that worked out for Chelsea with Winston Bogarde...).

    3. Too high reputation and unwillingness to "step down" - This often happens when you are managing a great team, but want to move on your former star players since you have better and younger players. It can also happen in conjunction with the point above, but here the player will also be unwilling to go to a poorer club that yours, so no teams who would want him are willing to offer anything since they know he is not interested (in the same ways your scouts tell you the same). The only solution I've found is to make him hate you. CAUTION: This can lead to other leadership issues with the squad, so do on your own risk. Fine him, relegate him to the reserves, unwanted squad status, etc. A milder way is to try to convince him to leave, but I've not had much success with that personally.

There are other factors in here as well, but those are the main ones I've come across.

  12. 2 minutes ago, DazRTaylor said:

All the best.  You always beat me to it.  I have downloaded the Maltese files, kits and player faces.  Was going to try Ta'Xibiex or however it is spelled.

Sorry mate! I've had Malta on the back burner for a long time, and I just lost motivation for playing in England, so I loaded it up and was tempted enough to start there! Come join me! :D

  13. England broke me again. So I went to a place I was going before, but it I fuddled it up, so here is my new attempt in Malta!

I took over Kirkop United, the team who finished last in the National Amateur League Group C last season, as they failed to win a single game. I'm planning on playing this quite fast since there are so few matches here, so expect frequent updates.

Also, do note that a player was brought in before I took over:

  14. Without knowing the specifics of the Portuguese leagues, there are often limits to how far up the league pyramid 2nd teams, U19s, or similar can rise. Often they have to at least be one tier below the first team, but some countries have a max level for those teams that is set in stone in the league rules. In Norway for example, the 2nd teams cannot go higher than the 3rd tier no matter what. Have a google about Portuguese league rules and see what they are.

If you think it's wrong, then please post about it (with proof, of course) in the right thread in the League Specific issues section of this forum so the researcher can look at it.

Merthyr Town - Season 2031/32 Review

    Table | Squad | Transfers | Finances

So this was both a good season and a poor one, but for different reasons. On the pitch was great as we finished a lot higher than last season with far more points than last season. We actually conceded less than 100 goals this season with 99, so there's progress there. Off the pitch, the board has been really intrusive this season as they have sold a couple of our best talents, and not for enough money for my taste. On the bright side, the board accepted by request for an improve youth level and started to build better facilities and that should help out a lot going forward.

In the FA Cup we beat Southend and Luton Town before we lost to Cardiff.

In the EFL Cup we lost to West Brom in the 1st round.

In the EFL Trophy we finished last in our group behind QPR, Peterborough, and Bournemouth U23s.
