  1. I've played like 7 seasons of this game now and its a constant occurrence, BPD clearances are utter garbage barely make it outside the area usually to an opposition player and never, Not ever playing in an attacking player I have left up the pitch.

IDK if this is the same on other roles such as cds or nncbs all I know is watching the games I see terrible clearances consistently from my players and I dont know why.

P.S I dont have play out of the defense

that would appear to be the most obvious reason

  2. We all get to that annoying point when the agent leave the contract suggestion to you.

If you're like me u can be asked to pick and choose all them bonuses etc. Etc.

So I ask my dof to suggest a package and offer it to the player.

Why? Oh why! Is this offer nearly always rebutted with a yellow "far too low response"?

Is my dof bantering me? Is this option just a silly template offer that you need to improve yourself?

  3. Has anyone else got an issue with final ball decision making, ie; with fulbacks waiting to be closed down before crossing into a defender or cams holding onto the ball when a striker makes the occasional good run. Feels like the only play makers in the game are the defenders from their own half?

I'm finding the match engine only allows for success (a high goals to chances rate) if your pumping balls over the top to a tall fast stiker, makes me wonder whats the point of all them tactical options im yet to see a tiki taka tactic breed success.

Fot me the balls over the top is much more annoying

Very over powered but the problem lies with the players moving towards the ball sometimes I see a player further away going to intercept, sometimes I see defender confront of the attacker just stop running either way my keeper makes the save 2 times out of 3 so I just role my eyes since it's not impossible I guess 🙄.

We use a sample size of 5000 matches.

I meant if players get less penalties then they see less misses.

Also find it baffling that for every league you use world averages to determine pen success rates (around 65%) when the prem pen success rates (over last 5 seasons) have been higher (+ 5 - 15%) per season. shouldn't higher leagues have higher success rates, due to the abilities of the players?

I don't see what the issue really is here? The shooter is inside the six yard box and his team mates are 10 yards behind him, not square, and there is a defender in the way. You would always expect a player to shoot there.

Theres four players by the penalty spot unmarked waiting for a cut back and saka just got passed his man of course he should be cutting it back!  hes practically shot from the byline.

Oh soz should I use "cut back" instead of "square"

Saka is parallel with the keeper by the time he shoots with four unmarked men to cut the ball back to how can you claim the defender is in the way when hes clearly behind him when he shoots!

This should feel much better balanced post 20.2 update due to the overall number of penalties being lower.

We statisically have the same penalty conversion as real world top leagues so we will need PKM's if people are seeing too many being missed.

This sounds like a cop out, smaller sample size will hide the problem

Which is weird, considering that quite a few more recent have argued how the game had a huge bias towards attacking Play (and sitting Deep was not viable). To me the ultimate stress test of the Deep block will be once you are able to go what Burnely did in 2017. Sitting Deep, averaging 20 shots against, yet conceding no more than 12 Goals in between August and December. :D

in terms of converting chances to goals i've constantly struggled to score with strong teams against these packed defenses however I see plenty chances created I will usually score 1 then they might score from a set piece or long ball.

Which seems weird, considering that shot and SOT to Goal ratios are stats that Si soak test every year. But: With AI tactics, naturally… plus averages over thousands of matches. As to counter attacks, sure it depends on the release and how open the AI are, but since this was adressing "FM in General", you mean like these? :D

To me its obvious that the game must favor soaking up pressure, sitting deep then countering. but I find that boring, how can a game only favor 1 tactic? And that's due to decision making of the players being wrong most of the time around the goal.

I see various decisions that decrease the chance of scoring constantly being made; Players through on goal centrally taking early shots from outside the box, players with time and space in the box taking weak shot that the keeper catches , full backs running the hypotenuse to the byline so more defenders can close him down then shooting instead of driving the ball across goal (this kind of stuff should cause havoc with a packed defense but i've never seen an own goal coz they rarely cross from the byline), inside forwards/wingers are mostly shooting with their weaker foot when they cut in (no mahrez finesse shots), headers on goal are just trash since this new update whether thats under-pressure or not, a lot of these headers should be a knock downs, passes and crosses happen a couple seconds after there's a clear chance to put a player in and lastly the wrong players going to the ball ie balls played towards the wide player in space but the, might be, offside striker picks up the ball bringing his marker with him instead of making space for the winger.

All these things dont appear to be rectifiable through tactics which causes even more frustration

Click Tactics > Analysis > Goals > Clear Cut Chances > Domestic League Matches > Last xx Matches (xx = nearest number below the league matches you've played).

Mine says in my last 25 league matches I've created 58 CCCs and converted 32 of them.  While the opposition have created 31 CCCs and converted 21.

Obviously that doesn't tell you about 1v1s but you mentioned CCCs so take a look and check.

In my last 27 league games

My converted ccc is 36 out of 64 so 56%

Converted ccc against me is 20 out of 27 so 74%

I attack alot find I make many chances and many are missed

Seems like the attacking team struggles to convert cccs

  11. I find the responsibilities section as a whole not very transparent this year.

If you take off the loan managers' finding development loans for young players option it all stops. I don't mind him finding loans I just don't want him "Finalizing" anything.

I got this problem with my dof and finalizing new staff I recruit. I want him to renew new contacts not finalize offers I made.

With so many options I can't tell what does what anymore

  12. @Svenc Good points and video has opened my eyes, when the random is going against you it "feels" broken.

@FrazT I apologise frustration got the better of me

@HUNT3R  I just completed my first season in the prem and the penalty  conversion was 63%. In the league I've scored 5 out of 13 penalties 1 team has a worse ratio and that's because they missed their only pen.

I know longer expect to score a penalty which isn't a feeling you should get in football, during playing time.

my best pen taker (16 pen 16 comp 15 fin) scored 2 out of 5 in the league, 2 out of 6 all competitions and has even missed 2 out of 2 in u18/23 non competitive games.

Just looked at spanish league, a lot less pens but still only 65% conversion rate

    Prem              76/121  63%

    la liga              21/32    65%

    Series A           33/38   87%

    Bundesliga     29/37   79%

    Ligue 1             38/44     87%

That's roughly 73% average which, over the last 5 seasons, is the lower end of the conversion rate you get in the prem.

the amount of pens in other leagues is extremely low as well, another game issue.
