  1. This atmosphere is odd. Hosting a World Cup in a nation without any footballing heritage is looking sillier and sillier by the minute.
  2. Forgot this starts today. I have the worst hangover ever and am 10 minutes or so away from home after a stupidly convoluted journey back from a weekend of debauchery in London. Hopefully this'll take the edge off. My body aches from dancing like a dick for hours
  3. I've got good memories of Italia 90 but this game probably featured the two strongest memories I have of USA 94. Well, apart from Diana Ross:
  4. Things seem to be going well in Qatar so far. This Danish TV crew with accreditation to film anywhere were stopped from filming in a public place in spite of showing their accreditation: Also saw separately a guy told to delete a photo of an official World Cup slogan which was on a wall in a public space in part of an official Fan Zone. WTF?
  5. # of downloads doesn't necessarily reflect quality though. Lots of people still want to just click and win and a huge share of downloadable tactics still have questionable, exploitative quirks to them. Maybe the ME is finally being tuned to dilute the effectiveness of over aggressive systems at long last.
  6. So who else *isn't* watching this? I've just got zero interest in it. I watched an hour of coverage on the day she died but not a single second since.
  7. Not sure if already posted but "Dozens of Clarence House staff have been given notice of their redundancy as the offices of King Charles and the Queen Consort move to Buckingham Palace after the death of the Queen" https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2022/sep/13/king-charles-staff-given-redundancy-notice-during-church-service-for-queen
  8. I just think there's no real need for Run Directors to make that call. I find it strange that a landowner would withdraw permission but your hands are tied a bit there, but RDs should be objective.
  9. Here's what my local parkrun is doing tomorrow. And that's enough. Perfectly proportionate and respectful decision: The wider sporting decisions made seem way overblown.
  10. **** me. I've just logged on for work and there's a mini remembrance wreath in the Windows search bar in the task bar
  11. Good on Liz. Great innings in spite of being surrounded by a bit of a ****show of a family.
  12. Witchell should have been a politician. He takes an awfully long time to tell you nothing of substance.
  13. The BBC coverage! Hearing about the windy route from Aberdeen airport to Balmoral and the wet road surface
  14. Pam and Kim from Australia have shared their thoughts and prayers with the BBC: Pam Fleming and Kim Tierney from Australia were on a tour of the building (Buckingham Palace) when they heard the news. Pam told me crying that: "She's the only Queen we've had. All of my life. She's such a lovely lady. It's such a shock." They added they were both thinking of the Queen's family at this time.
  15. It is weird. According to the BBC site "Dozens of well-wishers have gathered outside the gates of Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire." Why? I find it odd.
  16. In some ways it's convenient to be in the economic situation we are and for the banks to HAVE to start printing more money.
  17. Daily Mail headline writers currently foaming at the mouth trying to devise some means of panning Harry and Meghan in all this.
