  3. Just to mention for anyone managing in S Africa, you're unable to register players who've previously played in either the African Champions League or Confederations Cup. (For another team, obviously). In player search, you can apply filters for players who haven't played in these competitions (under General - Cup Competitions played in).
  4. Vikeologist's 2025/6 Kaizer Chiefs Report Finished 2nd and won the Confederations Cup, so in the end a good season, but it didn’t seem like it was going to be for most of it. When the full game came out, it coincided with a massive downward spiral. We were nowhere near the top of the table until a run of wins near the end meant that we could secure the title with wins on our last 2 matches. The trouble is that our final 4 matches were over just 8 days. It was the same last season, and it’s probably going to be the same every season. We lost our penultimate match, because I was going all out for the win, but victory in our final match with results elsewhere going our way, means that we finished 2nd. I’m hoping that will qualify us for the Champions League. 2 teams qualified last year despite it not being a S African team winning the competition. Things are not all rosy at the club though. One of my best players not wanting to re-up, plus a couple of others that truth be told I can live without. Despite being the biggest club and well under our wage budget, we remain in debt. Hopefully I can win the title next season and compete for the Champions League, if actually in it. No suitable international jobs have come up. Hopefully after this summer’s World Cup. Top Goalscorer – Elijah Masinga / Sphesihle Maduna - 19 My strikeforce is rotated a lot between 3 strikers including Masinga who is just 17. I have a new striker arriving in the summer, and will have to try to sell my supposedly best striker (not Masinga) who can’t be registered for continental competitions (AFAIK). Maduna is an attacking midfielder whose contract is up and is weighing his options. Highest Average Rating (minimum 10 matches played) – Kyle Molefe – 7.39 Molefe is only 16. He would have had the highest rating last year as well if not for the 10 match requirement. Man of The Match – Sphesihle Maduna – 7 Hopefully he’ll decide to stay. Most Valuable Player– Sphesihle Maduna Maybe only because you always want the one you can’t have. 5. I think, if I've understood a message correctly, that SI are indeed resolving this problem. Speaking about myself more than anyone else, let's chill and be patient.
  6. I believe that the registration thing is being looked at. Be patient. On another topic, I still haven't fully gotten over my Oceania Cup experience. A lot of the 'bugs' that people report are to do with the match engine, and as we start at the lower end of the skill spectrum, that can result in some frustrations. I've mentioned that my goalie is somewhat eccentric, and oh boy, would I replace him if it wasn't for this registration thing. Not sure it's a ME bug. One could take the view that a goalie who sometimes does unbelievably stupid things is actually a feature, though regrettably for me, not so much. But the Oceania / Fiji team / matches. Oh my God! the match engine is interesting at that level. We might have to wait for women's football, but I think they have the match engine for U11 children's football matches right there.
  7. Thanks. I really was acknowledging that I have to be part of the solution, rather than complaining about SI. But I appreciate your offer, and I may take you up on it over the year.
  8. It's interesting that some people say, people complain and say they won't buy the game, but in the end they do. When this thread started I said that I would buy FM23 (and indeed I have), but if things didn't improve in terms of issues (bugs) being resolved, then it might be my last time I would, even though I've played / bought every iteration since CM97 I think. It's too early at this stage to say whether the issues are continuing, but I should clarify what my concerns are. Not saying I'm right. Just these are my subjective opinions at this point. Also, I'm just making general points. Obviously each particular bug/ issue is being discussed separately. 1. Some major issues with the game are never addressed. 2. To get things addressed you almost need to mob SI with multiple examples of something. Some people seem to have reached the opinion that an SI response is based on the number of people complaining about something, rather than the actual seriousness of the problem. 3. I don't feel as though bug reports are read properly sometimes. Sometimes people claim that SI read every bug report, but it felt sometimes last year as though I spent a lot of time trying to convey an issue clearly and uploading save games, only for the issue to be dismissed by somebody who hadn't taken the time to read it properly. (Again, this is only my perception, but it's a genuine one). 4. I've become locked into a negative mindset about the game / bugs. I feel like I'm in a hostile relationship with SI. This isn't healthy. I've upset somebody this morning. (not an SI developer / employee, but a researcher who give their time for free to improve thew game which makes it worse). I can say that they shouldn't have been upset, but that's not the point. This is meant to be fun, and I want to make the forum more pleasant, not less so. Once playing the game starts to feel like a battle between SI and myself to get issues addressed, once I become responsible for hurting people's feelings, once I have to continually edit anything I say on the threads I oversee to try not to be negative, then this is not a good situation to be in, and next year's game might be the point to do that (if not before). 5. I avoid reporting anything other than major bugs. The fact is that is something seems minor, there's a good chance it is actually not a bug at all. But there's also an extent to which I want SI to address the big problems and not the small ones. I think last year I took the view that it was worth reporting everything, but I've changed my mind, which again is probably not the best place to be. (That said, at least one of my bug reports last year was ridiculously inconsequential). 6. I used to be a big supporter of SI. It's a pity the degree that has changed. It feels like I'm the frog being slowly boiled, and unless issues with the game are addressed, FM24 might be a good time to hop out. We're less than a week after full release. I appreciate that we're very early in the 'cycle', but like everybody I can read the bug reports. At this point, I don't think things are getting better.
  9. I'm sorry if I was rude. It's just that I am keen for SI to investigate this issue and understand it accurately. In the occasion screenshotted, there were more than 30 players who could be registered, but Manyama could not be, for the details I've given above. I've looked at multiple examples, and discussed it with at least 2 other players with the same problem. It is unhelpful if people leap to (wrong) conclusions on the basis of one screenshot, because we need SI to look at this properly, and not be given an excuse to dismiss or ignore it. That is why I was angry. But as I say, I shouldn't have been rude, and I was in the process of editing my response when you replied.
  10. No, it's not that. Some players are unavailable to be registered. Yes, maybe in some cases people have chosen 30 of the players who can be registered, but the limit of 30 is not the cause.
  11. There was a practically identical bug last year in Scotland; all year, and it was never fixed. It wasn't quite as bad. You couldn't move players to your U21 squad, or hire any new U21 staff etc. I still had an U18 squad that you could move players to / from. But it's basically the same problem by the sound of it, and they've had over a year to do something about it.
  12. When / if they've fixed and tested it, they'll probably tell us here. They only responded to this thread last night. I am 100% certain though that I've identified why the players can't be registered, so you just have to be careful who you sign and sell for the moment.
  13. To mark the launch of the full game, I'm going to give some unsolicited advice to those thinking of undertaking the challenge for the first time. First, you need to add the Asian internationals as per the opening post. I think you might not be able to complete the challenge without doing that. Secondly, South Africa is the obvious nation to start off in. I think there's 4 of us actively doing the challenge on FM23 atm, and we all started in South Africa, but there is a bug where you can't register players for the continental competitions if they've played continental football for another team since the start of the save. The way around it is to be careful who you sign, and maybe don't sell all your useful existing players who you will be able to register. Although most people start in S Africa or China, an option is to start in a much lower league in Europe or even S America, and try to work your way up quickly winning the most prestigious competitions first. The challenge takes a long time, but you can still enjoy it even if you don't complete it. If you do want to complete it though, it might take you a long time. I think it's taken me more than a year both times I have. Don't start in a tiny Asian nation. Sure, you might win a domestic league and cup, but you might find it even harder to get your next job than at the start of the challenge. Don't dive straight into an international job at the start of the save if you stand no chance of winning anything with them. Having an international job makes it harder to get a club job. Lastly, most of the above might not be true of FM23. Who knows? Pretty sure the Asian internationals thing is though.
  14. You can add and subtract leagues as you go. No reason to have top european divisions loaded at start unless you're starting in that nations lower leagues. You just have to make sure you start with leagues you can get a first job in.
  15. They've only just looked at it (again) on the bugs' thread. ((I tagged you asking if you could send them a save file). Any changes they make tonight, even if they do, won't be part of the build they release tomorrow, or more likely tonight. I mean, they would need to test the fix. As I've stated before, it is just the beta, although it would be nice if they asked CSE people to test the alpha. Challenges do tend to identify major problems. The Youth challenge figured out their player development problems real fast once the beta came out.
  16. Sorry, mate. Looks like this won't be fixed for tomorrow. The question is whether any fix would be save game compatible? I've not seen a bug like this before, so no idea whether it's simple or difficult to fix. You'd think it would be simple though. Were they registered before? - yes. Was it this season? - no. They must have the same code in other continents, so just copy it over. Hopefully if you do need to come back to it, it will be fixed by the time you do. Anybody starting this challenge on the release version, do take into account this bug if thinking of starting in S Africa. You really don't need to start in Africa. However @Ronaldo Beckham it's only just been possible to get a first job in S America in previous versions. It might be impossible now. Every year the first job you can get becomes a little bit more difficult. As the 2nd person to ever start this challenge, my first job was in the S Africa Premier League, where I managed to miraculously steer Swallows clear of relegation. (Actually, my first job was in the Chinese Super League, but it took me 5 minutes to realise that a miracle wouldn't be enough there. I learnt my first and probably still most important Ultimate Challenge lesson. Look before you leap at a job. I still remember seeing the challenge for the first time and thinking, well, that's impossible, but I could give it a try for a half hour or so. Ironically the guy who created the challenge probably actually did only do the challenge for half an hour, before disappearing and leaving the rest of us arguing about exactly what his initial rules actually meant like US Supreme Court justices interpreting the constitution.
  17. The save game names are detailed above. Sorry if the name was not evident tucked in above the screenshot. Mine is 'ACL Test 2.fm' Joaquim's is 'Ultimate challenger.rar'. @Joaquimorais I'm not sure why it's a rar file. Could you send it to SI on their cloud service if that wasn't what you did before? @goonergezAny chance you could send them your one as well? I think because you have more players who can't be registered, it's a better save for SI to look at. @Abdullah PatelI've done quite a bit of testing. I'd be amazed if it wasn't exactly what I've said. We can't register players if they've been registered for that competition with another team during the course of the save. It might be either competition (Confed Cup or Champions League). I'd need more saves to be sure. The fact is that AI controlled teams don't sign a lot of new players, so this bug really only shows up on user controlled teams. In my main save, I took over a team half a season ago and I was able to register everybody, but that's probably because none of my players fit the scenario detailed above.
  18. Actually, you're probably right. Created a new manager test save to look at Supersport's registration, and their one unregistered player fits the hypothesis. Give it one day though. There'll be loads of fixes in one go with the proper release.
  19. I might be wrong about what's causing it. In my 2 saves (1 of which was a test save) I've only had 1 player who couldn't be registered. Hopefully SI will look at Joachim's save he uploaded to them, and one way or another, it might be something they can fix before tomorrow's proper game launch. I'm not optimistic about SI fixing much of anything after last year, but this is just the beta. If bugs are going to be fixed, this is when it will happen. It is hampering me a bit, planning ahead. I'm finding it difficult to find anyone worth signing, whether they've played continentally or not, but also I suppose if they have, it is making me a lot less keen to sign them. However, I could be wrong. I was just offering it up to SI as a hypothesis.
  20. @J_C_DYou certainly seem to be better at interviews than me. I think I'm too honest about how mercenary I'm going to be. Everybody seems to be taking the same route, starting in S Africa. This is not the only possible route. In fact I don't think it's even the best route. I only started in S Africa because I wanted to try something different for my test save, which has turned into a concerted effort.
  21. Still only a sample size of 2, but in my main save, I've had no problem registering all my players for the African Confederations Cup, which people have reported an identical problem with. Now, none of my players have played in the Confed Cup (or any continental competition) for any other team since the start of the save. So, I'm not sure the absence of something proves the thing, but I do continue to think the theory above is the cause of the problem. Obviously Joaquimorais's save game has lots of players who couldn't be registered and so will be much easier for SI to say if that is indeed the cause. So, for those of us managing in S Africa, I'd suggest avoiding signing players who've played continental footie for other African teams since the start of saves.
