a decent season i guess. The main thing was just surviving from relegation, as i was one of the last to pick my team, and that us a small handicap. Hopefully we can progress next seson. But we need some decent players, and we need our top quality players to start performing.

I edited the teams into the Scottish leagues and put other world class teams in to the other Scottish leagues. The database would load but there was a 'crash dump' error when I tryed loading the game with the Scotish leagues. Any help please? icon_frown.gif

did you take the scottish teams out of scotland because if you did that will be the problem as the sottish cup teams are hardcoded at the start so you would have to assign the teams that are currently in the scottish league now to the scottish highland leagues so they are still classed as in scotland

The background.

With England deciding to make a split from their closest nation Scotland, 20 of the top English sides have decided to leave for Scotland in shock of the English governments decision. Every Scottish team has also decided to leave Scotland for nations like Turkey and Ukraine and more popular nations like Spain and Italy. Celtic and Rangers were the only 2 teams to remain in Scottish domestic football, meaning the rivalry will be continuing for many years to come.

With the Scottish FA getting a new sponsorship from an extremely populaar guy called James Ridley (or ridleys as a nickname), he has decided to spend many of his billions of pounds on allowing all 20 of the former English teams to spend wildly on any player in the world, with teams transfer budgets to be decided on where they team was predicted in the league.

The final season before the Teams left for Scotland was to be used as a qualifying season to decide on where the teams will be playing in the Scottish Leagues. With all squads completely refurbished, it was a special season and a fantastic way to leave. It finshed like this. The new prospect of playing in Scottish football attracted many big clubs to the Scottish Leagues, including giants like Real Madrid and AC Milan and also teams as far away as Brazil and Argentina, Sao Paulo and Boca.

All leagues have now been renamed starting with 'Ridleys Premier Division' and then going from 'Ridleys First Division' to 'Ridleys Third Division'. The cups have also been renamed to 'Ridleys League Cup' and 'Ridleys FA Cup'. The reputations of the leagues have also greatly improved, with the arrival of this new sponsor.

Scottish football has become the most popular in the world!

The First Ever Season in the new 'Ridleys Leagues'

With The new sponsor, James Ridley, making advanced progress in making Scotland the best footballing nation ever, all the leagues were promising to be full of action. Lets take a look at how the leagues are taking shape:

Full updates will be written for our teams. I will ony write brief ones for the others.[/b]

Ridleys Premier Division

It was Chelsea who made the strongest start to the season going unbeaten for the first 6 games and finding themselves top of the table by 5 points at the halfway stage. Sunderland who were champions of the final season in the Premiership had a terrible start, which saw them go as low as 11th in the table 9 games in. They have improved a great deal though winning 7 matches in a row between 20th October and 15th December. My team Portsmouth have made the worst start, winning just 2 games and drawing way too many. They are 5 points from trouble and could be facing relegaion if they're not careful.

Manchester United made a decent start but were unable to keep up their form and have slipped right down to 10th in the table, level on points with Blackburn who lie in 11th position. Blackburn also made a poor start and have lost the most games in the league, if they could have converted 5 of the defeats in too draws or wins they would find themselves up a few places and would be around mid table by now. Derby have shown consistently how rubbish they play, as they are the lowest scorers in the league and struggle to win a game, now that the transfer window is open though, they may look into buying a new striker.

Arsenal have been all over the place so far, as they have been as high as 3rd in the league and as low as 11th. Their form has been very inconsistent and were on the losing end of a record 6 - 0 defeat by Newcastle. Wigan made a good start to the season but towards the end of November and in to December their form started to dip, and they dropped down a few places. Newcastle United are joint top scorers in the league and have been average throughout the season. Their high point will definately be the 6 - 0 thrashing over Arsenal on TV.

Liverpool, in 5th position, have also made an average start to the season, after making a poor start to the season and a poor month of December they could possibly be in second place if they performed when it really mattered. West Ham are doing well so far, in 4th position and level on points with Liverpool. They haven't really lost form at all and see themselves only 2 points off Sunderland in second place. Manchester City were top of the league 8 games into the season but then they dipped in form and saw themselves in 6th place just 4 games later. They have picked up form again though and have moved back up to 3rd place, just a point behind Sunderland.

Ridleys First Division

Fulham made the best start in the First Division, winning their first four games and 37 goals in 19 games, the most in the division. They also hold the record for the biggest win after the knocked the crap out of Celtic and thrashed them 8 - 0. Bolton and Birmingham and Tottenham also made good starts, as they all have 31 points and take up 2nd, 3rd and 4th positions in the table, just 2 points behind the leaders Fulham. Birmingham also managed to smash 8 goals past celtic as they hold the record for the highest scoring game as they won 8 - 3 in a 'thrilling encounter'. Bolton went 12 games unbeaten from the 29th September to boxing day. They were 9th place after 7 games but the 12 unbeaten games saw them shoot right up the table to 2nd position, where their gap over Birmingham comes down to goal difference. Tottenham made a poor start to the season but their form has started to imrove and they have been making steady progress as he season starts to reach the more critical stages.

Celtic and Rangers, the only two Scottish teams remaining in Scotland, see themselves 9th and 10th in the First Division. Celtic in 9th position ave conceded 44 goals in 19 games and are 9 points away from Middlesbrough in 8th place. Rangers sit just 1 point behind Celtic and have a better goal difference. Middlesbrough made a decent start to the season and were showing potential, but as soon as they were thumped 7 - 0 at home to Bolton, their season turned around and they struggled to win a game since then. They have been in 8th position for 8 games now, but should finish safely above Celtic and Rangers. Reading were top of the league after the first game after a 4 - 2 win over Rangers, but since then they haven't progressed and have only continued to drop down the table. They do have one good performer though, Ricardo Oliveira who has 11 goals, making him joint top goalscorer so far and he is top of the average rating charts.

Everton are another team who made a decent start to the season and looked full of potential. They were 8th place 2 games in to the season, but then went 4 games without conceding and moved up to 2nd place, they remained there for 5 games, before briefly moving up to first place. This didn't last long as the pressure got to them and their form slipped. In their last 11 games they have managed to win only 2 games. Aston Villa have stayed mid table for most of this first half to the season. Their best layer Francesco Totti has performed well and scored 4 goals in the first game of the season in a 5 - 4 loss against Fulham. They have been drawing too many games though, as they have drawn the most games in the league joint with Middlesbrough on 9.

Ridleys Second Division

Sao Paulo, the former Brazilian superstarts lead the way as the season goes into the second half of the season. AC Milan find themselves 1 point behind, in second place and Boca and Dortmund take up the rest of the playoff places. FC Bayern are at the bottom of the table and surprisingly Real Madrid are second from bottom. There is a long way to go yet though.

Ridleys Third Division

Two ex-Italian teams, Juventus and Roma are 1st and second at this halfway stage with once again only 1 point seperating them. Shakhtar are doing well in 3rd place and Valencia occupy the final playoff place. Ajax find themselves bottom of the Scottish league by 7 points after they have only won 1 game out of 19.

Europe

Champions League

7 of Scotland's 19 teams didn't manage to qualify from the group stages in the competition, meaning there are 12 teams left in the first knockout round (which you can see in the screenshot above)

Euro Cup

Villareal were first to be knocked out of the competition from all of the Scottish teams after they were knocked out Nurnberg 5 - 2 on aggregate. All the rest of the Scottish teams remain in the cometition.

Other Scottish Competitions

Ridleys FA Cup

Lothian Thistle are the only non-league side to remain in the FA Cup, although they have not faced any league oponents yet. They now face Roma in the 4th Round. All other fixtures can be found in the screenshot above.

Ridleys League Cup

As the tournament approaches the latter stages, Fulham will play Derby and manchester United will play Aston Villa in the semi final.

Ridleys League Challenge Cup

Shakhtar beat Aston Villa 2 - 0 in the final to win the cup. Aston Villa did manage to finish as top scorers though.

Great updates ridleys, nice to see West Ham doing so well. icon14.gif

Shame to see Shay Given leave in January, he was meant to be my 1st choice keeper when I selecte the squad!!! icon_biggrin.gif

Hopefully West Ham can stay tophalf of the table until the end of the season.

Nice to see that over 12 hours have gone since I posted the first update and only 2 people have posted.

In fairness, you did posted it really early this morning and most people have work / school - I'm sure more people will post over the weekend. icon_smile.gif

Top Update ridley, this isgn up is really taking off now.

Very concerned over my league form and can't understand why fergie's not decided to strengthen my squad over january!!

Still in europe and a good chance to win the league cup but our priority must be to stay in the top flight. With only one team up each season once if you go down it will be tough to get back in.

End of Season update 2007/08

Brilliant first season in Scotland, action-packed and entertaining. One thing that I forgot to mention was the opening of the new capital city of Scotland: Off Topic Thread. The new National stadium has also been open called The Challenge Arena where all the Ridleys cup finals will be played. Lets see how the season went:

Ridleys Premier Division

Sunderland and Chelsea were the 2 main title contenders this season. Chelsea were top in January but towards the end of the season they began to lose concentration and dropped down to 5th place. They managed to win on the last day of the season though and ended up in 2nd place. Sunderland capitalised when Chelsea had a slight loss of form and pushed up to 1st place. They stayed there from 12 games to the end, right up to the final day and they managed to win the league. Wigan were sitting in a respectable 7th position back in my last update, and they have been in excellent form since then, racking up a 12 game unbeaten run and moving up to 3rd place. In the end they were only 1 point behind Chelsea.

Manchester United is not a name that you would expect to be down the bottom of any division, but with all the teams completely changed the Manchester United manager did not seem to get it right when picking the new team. They had the worst goal difference in the league and only managed to win 7 games from 38, meaning they were the first ever team to be relegated from the Ridleys Premier Division. Portsmouth were also had a team that found it hard winning games as they drew way to many. They steered clear of relegation though and finished 8 points clear of Manchester United. Derby were struggling to find goals before the January transfer window, and unbelievably they sold their leading goalscorer Nicolas Anelka to Lyon and failed to buy a replacement. Only Manchester United scored less goals than Derby.

Blackburn were close to relegation at the last update and stayed there for most of the season. They managed to move up one place to 9th place in the end, but conceded the most in the league. It was lucky that their strikers were in good form though as they scored a lot of goals to go along with the load that they conceded. Liverpool have not performed very well since December and have slipped 3 places, despite spending £35 million in the transfer window. Newcastle have had an average first season and have not really improved since December. They were top scorers at the halfway stage but haven't scored as many since then. They ended up in 7th place but were 6 points from the top 6.

Arsenal moved up into the top 6 with 10 games left to go. They had quite a low goal difference and conceded the second highest amount in the league and were on the back of the highest defeat. Manchester City have dropped down two places since December and finished in 5th place. Their discipline was also very bad as they got 114 yellow cards and 6 red cards! They will also be playing in the Euro Vase next season. West Ham have stayed in the same place since the last update although they have been bouncing up and down between 3rd and 5th place. Them and Wigan will be playing in the Euro Cup next season.

Summary

Ridleys First Division

Fulham ran away as easy winners of the First Division as they walked it by 10 points and had a massive goal difference of +30. They won 20 games and scored 72 goals. There wasn't any other team that deserved to win the league apart from them. Aston Villa, Tottenham and Bolton made up the next 3 places and only 3 points seperated them. Aston Villa were in 5th place back in December but their grit and determination carried them up to 2nd place by the final whistle of the last game. Tottenham moved up 1 place from where they were in December although they were second up until the final day of the season. They played Aston Villa on the final day of the season and lost, meaning that Aston Villa claimed 2nd place and Tottenham settled for 3rd. Bolton conceded the most less amount of goals in the league this season and their season has been very inconsistent. Since December they had been as low as 7th in the league and as high as 2nd.

Middlesbrough were the lowest of all our teams this season, although they were still 7 points away from the relegation zone. They finished with 40 points, 7 points from Celtic in 9th and 12 points from Birmingham in 7th. It was almost like they were in a league of their own. Birmingham were one of two teams that finished on 52 points, but with a lower goal difference they finished the lower of the two. They were also a team who had a fairly poor discipline as they had the most red cards in the league with 5 in total.

Everton were the other team to finish on 52 points, but they had a better goal difference than Birmingham, so they finished 1 place above them. Everton were 4th with a game to go, but lost and had to settle with a mid table finish in the end. Reading have had a fairly average season as they have stuck around mid table for most of the season. They finished in 5th although they could have finished higher. They scored the second highest amount in the league and in the end they finished only 2 points away from Bolton in 4th.

One club has had 5 different managers in the 1 and a half season in Scotland.

A new 16 year old talent (PA 193) has been discovered by me (well by the mini scout editor) but which club does he play for?
