Lesterfan_Cambiasso
Club Honours Ligue 1 Winners (8): 1960–61, 1962–63, 1977–78, 1981–82, 1987–88, 1996–97, 1999–2000, 2016–17 Coupe de France Winners (5): 1959–60, 1962–63, 1979–80, 1984–85, 1990–91 Coupe de la Ligue Winners: 2002–03 Trophée des Champions Winners (4): 1961, 1985, 1997, 2000 Why A.S Monaco? Ive not previously contributed to the career updates forum. However, several factors make me think this is an ideal save for someone like myself, who is not such a hardcore player of the game: I call myself not hardcore, but ive played various iterations of the game for a long time, right back to Championship Manager 97/98. And around this time, Monaco had some of my favourite FM players such as Ludovic Giuly, David Trezeguet and Japhet N'Doram A genuine opportunity exists to develop young players and build a homegrown team. There are some hugely exciting prospects already at the club to be nurtured. I would love to unearth the next Kylian Mbappe or Thierry Henry and topple PSG in the process in the same way Monaco did under Leonardo Jardim in 2016/2017 Despite plenty of domestic success, winning 8 Ligue 1 titles and 5 French Cups, the club has had modest success in Europe with only a notable champions league final in the early 2000s. Could European success be earned at one of Europes less fancied clubs? Ive not written a career update before, but id like to familiarise people who are interested with our good young prospects and provide some month by month updates on our matches and tactical set up, as well as transfer dealings, as the career progresses.
Ronaldo Beckham
I have always had a soft sport for Monaco over the years and watching them do well in France and in Europe led by a young Mbappe was beautiful to watch. I am looking forward to seeing what you do with Monaco.
Lesterfan_Cambiasso
A.S Monaco - Meet The Squad The Ones To Watch Axel Disasi will be right at the heart of the defence this season. Built like a tank, powerful in the air, and with no shortage of composue, Disasi looks like exactly the sort of warrior at the back who will fit the billing for a central defensive stopper role. Future captain material Aurelin Tchouameni and Youssouf Fofana could form quite a partnership in central midfield. Both strong, hard working and not afraid to shirk a tackle, both are excellent technicians who can create chances with pinpoint passing. Myron Boadu has blistering pace and an eye for goal. His pace will be a valuable attribute to use when sitting deep and playing on the counter attack, his off the ball movement making him a constant threat to the opposition defence both in the centre forward and wide forward positions. A goal every other game ratio in Eredivise for AZ Alkmaar earned a cut price 17 million euro move to AS Monaco, a move that could prove to be worth every penny

I didn't realize they signed Boadu as well. I will definitely be managing Monaco on FM22.
Lesterfan_Cambiasso
Game Set Up, Board Objectives & Preseason Ive gone for the following leagues, and loaded players in continental competition in South America, to give a decent (but not huge) size database: We will also be starting with first window transfers OFF, so each club starts the season with its real life squad. I personally like to do this, as I like to manage the team as close as possible to real life, as further into the game, the game progresses further and further into FM fiction. The Board Objectives: Ambitious, But Not Overly So The board have laid out their objectives and they seem to be fairly modest: In terms of developing players for the future and developing them (sometimes to sell for a profit) im happy to do this. Given we wont have pots of money, itll be an essential part of the save and im looking to give our youngsters immediate exposure to the first team. Formation wise, it may be easier to do this as well given that we will be able to utilise multiple formations with this group, so versatile players is a key objective to implement. In terms of competitions, there is an excellent group to work with, so I am happy that challenging for a Champions League spot is immediately achieveable. The board are certainly ambitious in Europe, given the fact we arent even in the Champions League yet, the board are already eyeing progression to the knockout phase, so a big early emphasis MUST be placed on ensuring we progress through the qualifying rounds and reach the group stages. But as with the current season, the board indicate that in future seasons, a "best of the rest" seeding is what the board are looking for, which would suggest they accept PSG are the powerhouse and are willing to show patience in developing a home-grown group to challenge them. Pre Season: Missing Key Players Makes Bedding In The Philosophy Difficult A disjointed preseason where many key names were missing until the last preseason friendly yielded some lacklustre results, under a 4-4-2 formation that looked vulnerable, but seemed to suit the group. The 4-4-2 has been parked for now, but remains an option. There were some notable preseason performers, Sofiane Diop added plenty of creative spark from the centre of midfield, whilst Guillermo Maripan looked a no nonsense reliable option at centre back. Tactical Systems: 4-4-2 An Option, Starting With 5-3-2 The squad does contain good striking options for a front 2 and excellent wide men, so ive not given up on the idea of a 4-4-2 but in preseason, it seemed like the best balance came from a 5-3-2 wingbacks system. This has allowed us to keep two strikers on the field, but bring an extra man into the centre of the pitch where Tchouameni and Fofana can hold as a pivot, freeing Golovin or Diop to make threatening runs into the box. Ive seen encouraging signs that using 2 forwards running into the channels can open up space in the middle for Golovin to occupy a number 10 position. At the back, three centrebacks seemed to work well, with Disasi as a stopper to tackle and head aggressively, Badiashile and Maripan to use their ability to read the game and cover the channel areas as a passing option in possession, and to keep us solid when defending. A slight tweak in instructions also looks good for a countering system, looking for the early ball to an advanced forward with Myron Boadu fitting the bill well, and utilising Fofana as a deep playmaker with "attempt more risky passes" as an instruction: Whilst early Ligue 1 fixtures dont look too bad, Champions League progression is a must, so August could already prove a pivotal month. Lesterfan_Cambiasso
A.S Monaco 21/22 August: Brilliant Boadu And Great Golovin Inspire Superb Start An early confidence boosting 4-1 home win vs F.C Nantes was just the ticket, with Wissam Ben Yedder helping himself to two goals in an all round creative and dominant display utilising a 5-3-2 wingback system. However, things were certainly different on the road vs F.C Lorient who enjoyed much success in wide areas with Thomas Monconduit posing a constant threat from the middle of the pitch. It was Monconduit who burst into the box forcing a rash challenge from Axel Disasi, but Alexander Nubel rescued the situation with a low save to his right to keep out the penalty. Indeed, Lorient could count themselves unfortunate to lose on xG, had it not been for an excellent curling shot from the edge of the box by Fofana to the top left corner and a breakaway through ball and finish by Myron Boadu to seperate the teams for a 2-0 win. Back at Stade Louis ii, R.C Lens were the next club to visit, and in truth they were thoroughly outclassed, Alexander Golovin pulling the strings all afternoon and assisting two goals, as Le Monegasques ran out comfortable 3-1 winners. A final league fixture of the month was a trip to Troyes where a disappointing first half go in behind at half time to a VAR confirmed Renaud Ripart header. The spirit in the dressing room came to the fore in the 2nd, after a tactical switch to overload the left hand side, a triple change bringing on Volland, Golovin and Martins as an out and out winger, saw an excellent turn around with a Golovin back post header, a Ben Yedder penalty, and Badiashile capping the turn around from a near post corner header for a 3-1 win. Four wins from four ensured the table had a healthy look to it at the end of August: Champions League: Memorable Progression To Group Stage Outplayed and outclassed for much of the game away in Holland vs P.S.V Eindhoven, to come away with a 2-1 away leg win was a sensational turnaround that owed much to the individual brilliance of Myron Boadu. A 3-1 home win capped off a strong showing, and ensured a difficult looking tie on paper vs Benfica. But in the most important match of the month, a stellar 4-1-home win vs S.L Benfica was exactly what was needed. A 3-1 half time lead thanks to the playmaking efforts of Golovin and excellent finishing of Boadu merely a prelude to total domination in the 2nd half, rounded off by an excellent goal from Caio Henrique arriving late in the box a la Carlos Alberto to bury a shot low into the right hand corner. It gave a nice cushion to take back to Portugal, where the result argubaly flattered Benfica with 2 late goals to win on the night, but crash out on aggregate as we progress into the group stages. A tough looking draw sees us come up against Manchester United, Villarreal and F.C Porto in the group stages, which is sure to be exciting.
