More South American Leagues Please

Recommended Posts

The main problem with officially adding more leagues rather than just using data files to make them playable, is building the scouting infrastructure on the ground for SI to get accurate CA/PA estimates. Finding a scout for 2-3 levels of football in Western or Central Europe, or one of the more prosperous South American countries is always going to be easier than in the remaining 4 uncovered South American countries (not coincidentally the least developed 4 on the continent). I've often wondered if the reason there's less coverage in Peru is because its harder to get someone to scout a Peruvian third division team than one from another South American country. I agree Ecuador and Paraguay would be awesome additions to the game, and the main factor in helping that is how many potential scouts there are in those countries for every team in the top three divisions (only 2 would be playable, but the top unplayable division would probably need to be scouted) or how many football fans in those countries would be willing to help out. They'd have to be seriously devoted and watch nearly first team, reserve, and youth team match and possibly view training as well. FM researchers have to be superfans but without just giving everyone on the team inflated ca/pa scores they don't deserve.

As XaW posted in the link above, only a few countries would potentially lead to more sales. If so, I doubt SI would allocate substantial resources to keep adding too many new leagues, unless these additions are based on the voluntary work of researchers.

It seems that SI has been trying to think more in terms of marketing that can benefit game sales. What's the percentage of FM players (outside of this forum of hyper-engaged fans) that engage in journeyman saves?... If only a tiny minority are inclined to play obscure leagues in foreign (meaning: non UK) countries, then adding new leagues become less of a financial incentive for SI.
