February started well, with two wins, but a sloppy performance against Frosinone helped them escape the relegation zone by beating us, and we were second best against a very good Zebre side

1882239799_Feb2024.thumb.PNG.208f754fd682fd58f8bea81c8580813d.PNG

and that leaves us just outside the bottom three. Not what was expected at all

The revival didn't last, but there were some very tough fixtures, as starting with the Zebre game last month, we faced the top 4 at the time in successive games, beating Cosenza to knock them out of it, and we were a man down for more than an hour of the Cittadella game, but still managed to score a late equaliser

All of which leaves relegation (and the sack) a very real possibility. I'm not sure which would come first, but I am sure I won't survive the season, given the lofty ambitions of the board (not matched by the squad it seems)

An unbeaten April, and it was so nearly a perfect month

551136735_Apr2024.thumb.PNG.ce8679d2d41632c2a1994fb6b1ce4c75.PNG

which has taken us from the brink of the relegation zone to safety. Won't be enough to save my job, but hopefully will give me a shot at getting back in quickly when the end does come

I was only in charge for two more games

883688499_May2024.thumb.PNG.b192fde987a593b3d477dbde4c2be366.PNG

as the board finally decided to sack me

668186987_SackedLecce.thumb.PNG.af6f961eee2cbe8fbf7e5e34725173f9.PNG

leaving Lecce 11th in the table, with two games to play

Time to look for another club to win a league with and escape Italy. I did it in France, can lightning strike twice?

Not a bad first month. I was not in charge for the Imolese game

1891102464_Feb2025.thumb.PNG.23e50405a8317c0c4ce4ac13ab3e9124.PNG

and we're very definitely looking up rather than down. I think a top 5/6 spot, rather than a top 10, should be the target for the season, giving us something to build on for next season, where I want to challenge at the top

There were quite a few arrivals and departures too (and that doesn't include those released at the end of their contracts)

2121006001_TransfersJul2025.thumb.PNG.3a87c7c69027c1447faa9def20413f7f.PNG

Bernardi is a winger

Bernardi.thumb.PNG.f6a604d2a94c9218a40d0ab6a18cbd27.PNG

Zarpellon is a striker, and is the best we have now

Zarpellon.thumb.PNG.71209eb975bd7b4f19fe5b75ae303a43.PNG

Vandeputte is a winger

Vandeputte.thumb.PNG.53bcbeab2a7b632be56b30ac12961009.PNG

Ferrari, Rossi and Calicchio are all strikers, and will be backups to the main man

Ferrari.thumb.PNG.fa80f48c812ed0a2ce490e0985a5660e.PNG

Rossi.thumb.PNG.002b70e157e7ef6019b4cafbe207d675.PNG

Calicchio.thumb.PNG.524f2a0e4d88febee4b191a22acaf619.PNG

and this is the squad as it stands going into the season. I'm hoping to find a free transfer goalkeeper to either come in as first choice, or to at least provide better cover for Rodegari, and I've not ruled out departures from the forward line either, as I don't see Pozzani as having a future here

Not a great start to the season

1400858873_Aug2025.thumb.PNG.cd47ece7101ca7ea38d1f6fdbb3cb829.PNG

but the board are only expecting a playoff spot, so they're satisfied with the early league table

1185309506_Aug2025table.thumb.PNG.3bea537c0d41e4a1bcf3a66a7dabec96.PNG

but an early red card didn't help against Pisa

2124959642_RimvPisa2025.thumb.PNG.36580672ce218a9d1255ec31f5fd7983.PNG

and an away draw at one of the favourites for the title is a decent result

An unbeaten February, and a more pleasing month than January

1226136129_Feb2026.thumb.PNG.f673d75f00e914af91ca8b2c3c915473.PNG

but the draw with Campobasso sees us knocked off top spot on goal difference. Failure to really punish teams we're dominating might prevent us winning the title and opening the next country up. I've no qualms with the Campobasso result, they deserved their point from an even game

934726913_Feb2026table.thumb.PNG.4fc04cfd8c6dfe9c900971d070238899.PNG

but how on earth did we only score once from 31 attempts (10 on target) at home to Avezzano? That's the sort of game we should be winning 3 or 4-0, and it's happened a lot this season. And of course we missed a penalty. Lost count of missed pens this season

A really poor March

779297339_Mar2026.thumb.PNG.9b9232c777f0c9e27a268e2dc0b69b9f.PNG

but we missed another penalty against Sambenedettese, costing us 2 points

1482689842_RimvSam2026.thumb.PNG.21a6543cd457b3c9b1df190c725741a9.PNG

another against Tuttocuoio, 2 more points gone

1730605008_RimvACT2026.thumb.PNG.733650b3d6f84bf4065192dd14cb9918.PNG

so with three games to go, we're three points off the top, with a massively worse goal difference

Preseason was underway before I arrived, and the games I took charge of are highlighted

I managed to add three players to the squad I inherited

Velija and Dobric will fight it out for the right back slot

Velija.thumb.PNG.fa4ab6a5a3d6cb2f4e64470e58917640.PNG

Dobric.thumb.PNG.de0e6b1850f13d21e081758110a2910f.PNG

and Zajc provides a bit of quality up front

Zajc.thumb.PNG.ebe98ced435be7bef8d1cd8e7c3eb054.PNG

The media certainly don't expect my stay in Croatia to last just a single season, although they do expect me to meet our mid-table objective. It's a 30 game season in Croatia, so there isn't much room to get off to a slow start if you want to make an impression on the top end of the league

October was just as good, the only setback coming against then second placed Slaven Belupo. Beating the then leaders NK Solin was particularly sweeet, as we shredded them in the first half, and then kept them out in the second. We were reduced to 10 men after 47 minutes due to an injury after I'd used my subs, the injured player having come on himself at half time.

400520795_Oct2026.thumb.PNG.8d59f7328b388def667b86da9bac0800.PNG

and we are just three points off the leaders. There will be no talk of the title though, we're nowhere near that level....yet.
