There was quite a bit of summer transfer activity. The deals after my arrival are highlighted

932028987_TransfersAug2036.thumb.PNG.01d7623a7938d2fc0ca066dc6dfec5d1.PNG

Bello is a midfielder

Bello.thumb.PNG.b78133efabe9a795b0df7eafbcc5da2f.PNG

and Watson a centre back, signed as a replacement for Modiba, who the board sold on deadline day without asking.

September on paper looked bad

634384349_Sep2036.thumb.PNG.91434162943a3e39def62820cfba40f3.PNG

but we didn't deserve to be humped 3-0 by Ross County

1331275942_RossvInv2036.thumb.PNG.36ae8e512de5f3a28ea86b2e208645bb.PNG

and if I owned a laptop rather than a desktop, I think it would be in a different postcode after the Livingston game. This is what the term 'being FM'd' was invented for

101066541_InvvLiv2036.thumb.PNG.4f1b05d11748efff3173d28ddf2544ce.PNG

So, we're now off the top, four points adrift of Livingston. Not ideal at this stage of the season

 1789430670_Sep2036table.thumb.PNG.5b93c36da366dce00fffa2d1cea7c747.PNG

and we lost Stuart Hunter to a broken ankle for four months after a training ground accident, so Ronan McNiven will have to shoulder much of the goalscoring responsibilities until after Christmas. I won't be rushing Hunter back, he'll only return when the physio says he is absolutely ready

There was even more disappointment in December

2048043336_Dec2036.thumb.PNG.98788634fcdd3dfee376c4d847d545e9.PNG

with a red card proving costly against Ross County

589384413_InvvRoss2036.thumb.PNG.0a707ed6e8649dda3d4c0cc1de818897.PNG

We battered Livingston, but they somehow escaped with a point

1834148089_LivvInv2036.thumb.PNG.c2e8406504717a0c74403773e746d2da.PNG

and dominated St Mirren, but conceded a late goal just as I did a sub to try and see the game out

512995967_InvvStM2036.thumb.PNG.626ca3212f20450cf410d619153d44da.PNG

Which leaves us third, but only 2 points off the leaders

February results don't even begin to tell the story

1966826976_Feb2037.thumb.PNG.7cf59d0d69ca88698add2ad2db75d391.PNG

as we battered Livingston without scoring

2121900360_InvvLiv2037.thumb.PNG.ae279870bf0b6749f5db372eb0713d81.PNG

lost to Ross County as we had three goals disallowed

941860899_RossvInv2037.thumb.PNG.10c6dbd8a776c192c4316d1c8a83c6f6.PNG

and drew with Raith in a game we utterly controlled

1093463487_RaivInv2037.thumb.PNG.64f9bb8e5f138373b4e24251880ac741.PNG

which left us 9 points off the top, in third

March was one match from perfection, and saw us add my second trophy of my spell in Scotland

1701304390_Mar2037.thumb.PNG.23187a482d9ef3024c91d6438f4cce38.PNG

and it really should have been a perfect month, as we led Partick 2-0

1934468471_ParvInv2037.thumb.PNG.7aa4107f4e576fb5cef12c14b9f44a06.PNG

which leaves us 5 points behind, but having played a game more. The playoffs are starting to loom large

Just now, Northernpilgrim said:

Yeah, it makes no sense. Celtic said no too, which is a shame as I really fancied that job.

Personally glad you didn't get that one. Would be a shame if I needed to start cheering on the AI

Three wins out of four would ordinarily be a decent April

162598397_Apr2037.thumb.PNG.1f9a0a0775f4c8ef24dbdc603e1bf29e.PNG

and once again, the Livingston game is one we should have won

925185618_LivvInv2037.thumb.PNG.b2a2642f6828360907425967d8c289ee.PNG

and if we had, it would have set up a three way title fight on the final day. As it is, it's between Livingston and Ross County, with Ross County massive favourites for the win. We will have to settle for the playoffs, which I don't want to win, but do want to give a creditable performance in, so won't be fielding a team of kids

We lost our final league match of the season

613045465_May2037.thumb.PNG.9eb3e66b107dbc98ce897fae2139c6b4.PNG

and I forgot to screenshot the league table until after the playoffs, which kind of spoils what happened

1251027271_May2037table.thumb.PNG.c5faf1101d2f3f09a59396cc6e326d3a.PNG

We beat St Mirren home and away in the first round

1735188919_PO1R2037.thumb.PNG.cbc4b86b958ceb3155e3b8412a030632.PNG

Then did the same to Livingston to qualify for the final

1364178562_PO2R2037.thumb.PNG.50a42ab66248b8316b5986802b91a9ca.PNG

Where we beat Kilmarnock, sending them into the Championship, and us into the SPL

1766826286_POF2037.thumb.PNG.030e215d37b7c3d3a6314fffdc9f9ef3.PNG

So what happens next?

October results were perfect, including an unbelievable away win at Celtic

832975225_Oct2037.thumb.PNG.fc3536968656416787820b54cf531d23.PNG

and that lifts us into fourth place, with 20 points already on the board. We're only 3 points off the top, but survival and safety remains the objective.

November was also perfect

207728124_Nov2037.thumb.PNG.5f4a6b534e8bc60071da26a563c3d247.PNG

and saw us end the month top of the league. I'm not getting ahead of myself, survival remains the aim, but if we're still anywhere near this position in another 10 games, then the ambition levels will increase. For now, it's one game at a time, and enjoy the ride while it lasts, waiting for an opportunity to open up somewhere else

December was very busy, and the schedule certainly caught up with us. We were lucky to get anything against Hibs or Celtic, and trailed 3-0 at Hearts before making the score at least respectable

1225512591_Dec2037.thumb.PNG.43035dc40defa818c7f6f5a308d76b63.PNG

but we still manage to end the year on top of the league, although Celtic have a game in hand. We'll know after next month whether we are genuine title contenders, or just having a very good start to the season

After January's results (which weren't brilliant)

295173503_Jan2038.thumb.PNG.b5f27c27a95590ffde4c997652f3e443.PNG

it's pretty obvious that, 7 points behind Celtic, we're not going to win the league, but with a 12 point cushion to 5th placed Hibs, a top four spot and European football should be well within range now

There were no transfers in or out in January, so the squad we have will be the one that will try and take us the rest of the way into Europe. It's looking likely I'll see the season out now, but with my contract up in the summer, I'm very much looking to move on at the end of the season. If it's the SPL, that would have to be Celtic for it to be worth doing, but I'd happily drop down the leagues to take a job at a club with serious promotion ambitions.

February was a tough month

2102696615_Feb2038.thumb.PNG.87ca0daa29a945023fe4f2ba3e0c3bad.PNG

but we're still second, and still on course for a top four finish. We've been without our first choice keeper Matthew Scullion all this month, which hasn't helped, but he was on the bench for the Celtic game, and will be back in the side for the next match
