Northernpilgrim
Hello, and welcome to my latest adventure! I'm managing as myself, and here I am The Challenge The challenge is simple. Win a league (or leagues) in a country, and move on when a job becomes available in an 'adjoining' country. Adjoining is in inverted commas, for two reasons. Firstly, I'm using the standard database, and not every country in the world is included, and secondly, not every country is connected to another. In the case where there isn't a directly connected country, I must move to the nearest country that is in the game. I must finish the challenge back in the country I started it, but I do not have to return to the original club. I do not have to manage in every nation, merely complete a circumnavigation of the globe. All of this must be completed within 80 days real time Starting point and this is the Club Vision Edited February 19, 2020 by Northernpilgrim
Northernpilgrim
Preseason results were very encouraging and there were no transfers in the transfer window, so the squad looks like this Edited February 19, 2020 by Northernpilgrim
Northernpilgrim
This is the formation I've used in preseason, and will start the season proper with
Northernpilgrim
We went through the first month of the season unbeaten, including Carabao Cup wins over Luton and Reading but draws at Crewe and Newport see us two points behind leaders Forest Green Rovers I'm disappointed as we blew a 2-0 lead against Crewe and had more than enough of the game to have beaten Newport
scousevasey
Any plans for direction of travel? With the nearest country rule, I assume it rules out England, Wales, Ireland, USA, Russia, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Scotland, England as a route, although going in the opposite direction might work

So roughly 13 leagues (depending on club availabilities at any one time). Another possible route is via Iceland (depending on distance from the USA, then Faroes/Scotland As a rough estimate is is a minimum of 20 seasons to allow for near misses/failures, and therefore a season every three to four days. A nice, fun challenge

Northernpilgrim
September was less perfect but we do remain in a top three spot, although I need to win the title to enable me to move on, so there is need for improvement
Northernpilgrim
October was slightly better, with four wins from five in the league but the defeat to Carlisle has seen the gap to Forest Green increase to six points
Northernpilgrim
The wheels really fell off in November but we remain second, although the gap to Forest Green is now a massive 9 points, and the worst of all possible outcomes is now a real possibility: that we go up, but not as Champions, and therefore the next country isn't unlocked. I need to either overhaul Forest Green, or fail to go up, and hope I get a second season with Argyle
Northernpilgrim
December was better, but still not good enough and Forest Green have further extended their lead, which now stands at a massive 11 points. The only positive from the month is that their unbeaten record is finally over.
Northernpilgrim
A winless January and it looks like not getting promotion is now a certainty
Northernpilgrim
I added two players to the squad in January. I paid £12.5k for Alan Sheehan from Luton and brought in Luis Longstaff on loan from Liverpool
Northernpilgrim
This is getting really depressing now and we're only a point from being out of the playoffs

Northernpilgrim
I survived that, but lost my next match, and they've called me in again
Northernpilgrim
This time I didn't survive and having lost both games in March I leave with Argyle 8th in the table, and uncertain as to where I go next
Northernpilgrim
I'm still out of work in June, despite numerous applications, and I know that technically England is 'locked' after my sacking by Argyle, but I've been offered an interview without actually having applied, and I think I'd be mad to turn this down, so I'm going to the interview anyway

Northernpilgrim
Four players have been signed in the transfer window but only striker Freddie Ladapo is a first team player, the rest are youth teamers signed by my DoF

Northernpilgrim
August started with a run of three games without a win. But it ended with six wins in a row and that left us third in the table, with surprise frontrunners Rochdale and Burton ahead of us but we should have beaten Fleetwood, which would have had us level with Rochdale
Northernpilgrim
An unbeaten September, despite playing away in five out of our seven matches and we could easily have won the Shrewsbury game but that run was enough to take us top of the league, ahead of Derby on goal difference
Northernpilgrim
October didn't look good on paper but we were unlucky to only draw at Rochdale ridiculously unlucky to lose to Doncaster and we actually led until quite late against Man Utd but the win over Tranmere not only ensured we remain in the top two, but kept us in touch with the leaders too, as we're just a point behind
Northernpilgrim
November was perfect, but there were only two league games which saw us end the month top of the table, four points clear, with the halfway point of the season fast approaching and we qualified from our Checkatrade Trophy group too
Northernpilgrim
Ten points from five league games made for a decent December although it could have been more as Shrewsbury fought back from 2-0 down to beat us after a red card which led to their second goal and we end the month three points clear at the top. If we're going to win the league, and free me up to leave Buckinghamshire, we're doing it the hard way
Northernpilgrim
We went unbeaten in January, including beating Portsmouth after a replay in the FA Cup, and top flight West Ham in the next round ending the month a point clear, with a game in hand
Northernpilgrim
We made one signing in January bringing Matty Longstaff in on loan
Northernpilgrim
An unbeaten February in which we came back from 2-0 down against Accrington and had to come from behind at Doncaster as well which leaves us top of the table, 6 points clear of Hull, with 11 games to play
Northernpilgrim
Good news. Despite my contract being up in the summer, and me hoping to leave for France, the board have let me start my Pro Licence
Northernpilgrim
Another solid month in March, but the cup run is over and the defeat to Forest Green means we end the month 8 points clear, with 6 games to go
Northernpilgrim
April was decent, but not spectacular and the defeat to Derby doesn't matter, as we were crowned Champions after beating Coventry

Northernpilgrim
We were tough to beat in August, but we did lose two games very narrowly, and managed only one win but we continue to average more than a point a game, and that's what we need to do for survival, which is the only aim if I'm here all season
