Champions League Final -  live updates

*half-time*

over to the fans now, @BoxToBox how does it feel to be on British Land after last year's trip to Turkey? surely Wales isn't your ideal corner of the world, but they do have a special discount on Guinness pints for tonight in the stadium, so I take it you're enjoying yourself?

@davehibb, as an avid RB Leizpig fan, just how painful is watching a home-grown team like Stuttgart lead 2-0 at half time in a CL final?

Champions League Final -  live updates

62nd minute - club legend Max Besuschkow makes his way on the pitch as a substitute for Kristian Hoxha. Leon Goretzka is brought on instead of Henrichs to bring some necessary physical presence and tactical intelligence to Stuttgart's defensive shape. This means Jenssen's used all three available substitues after bringing on Bjorn Bundt for Tim Eichinger at half time

I'm definitely far drunkerhappier than in Turkey, Wales seems a fine spot.

The Euros.... the final piece of the puzzle..... The Germany manager must do you proud!

hopefully so... to be fair though, with the amount of talent we've provided the NT they should reach the semis at least. Even that would be a disappointment :)

Bombshell!

yep, media's going crazy) Thinking about it, though, by the end of next season, Jenssen will have been at the club for 9 years and has achieved literally everything in the game, with Stuttgart considered as the most reputable club in the world by this point. The only thing that's missing, as rightly pointed out by @BoxToBox is the glory of the Euros. So, with one more season to develop our players even further and with a ridiculous amount of talented youngsters coming through the youth ranks to slowly form the 2nd (hopefully just as golden) generation, Klaas has established an incredible legacy at this club and the Euros will either make or break that cherry on his goodbye party cake....

Jenssen's presumably last season at the club starts with a bang in the transfer market, as former VfB youth sensation Benjamin Gallus re-joins the club for a record 30 Million transfer. Feels like Man United, not going to lie

'former player watch'

Branko Golenja (youth2017)

After his record 70 Million move from VfB to Arsenal 3 years ago, Branko is establishing himself as one of the finest forwards in the world by this point. Born in Germany, what a shame he felt more Croatian in his roots and thus had to be let go by Klaas Jenssen's almost 'nazi style' recruitment policy...

I have no idea how he didn't win this... Barcelona didn't win the CL and Brazil didn't win anything over the last year, so I'm really wondering what was the coefficient maths that propelled Neymar to the win. I mean... look at Rapp's form!! 14 goals and 11 assists in 12 league appearances this season as well....

two dismal matches and we're out of the CL after being beaten 4-3 on aggregate in the first knock-out round by a very strong PSG side

a bit of bad luck in the second tie, with us leading 2-0 up until the 84th minute, a score which would have seen us through, however seconds after Gnabry's goal, Guedes fires a 35 metre shot past Bernd Leno to knock us out of the competition

well, you can't win it every year, can you? :)

Youth Intake

quite disappointing by our standards, really, but Shahram looks great and another much needed defensive prospect makes his way in the U19's team. I have a lot of right fullbacks already and probably will retrain some of them to develop their weaker foot and start playing on the left as well, just in case switching to a back four becomes one of Jenssen's ideas.

May 2024 - Sweet goodbyes to the Bundesliga

l83085-vfb-stuttgart-logo-19934.png

Klaas Jenssen says his goodbyes to German football with what must be the most ridiculous performance in the Bundesliga in Stuttgart's entire history:

2209841761d1018f15f6bf36e393ed78.png

121 goals in 34 matches (nearly 4 per game on average) means we have scored nearly twice as much as second-placed Dortmund and conceded just two more goals then them, making our defense the second best in the league.

The *Rapp-Bundt-Eggestein trio has reached its peak and completely tore into opposition defenses this season.

Eggestein equalled Gerd Muller's record for most goals scored in the Bundesliga in a single season and Bundt was absolutely superb with 18 goals and 19 assists in 27 league appearances

 ba60ca3fc1cd96b404f6243fcd8724fb.png

*although Rapp narrowly missed the podiums I believe he performed sensationally in the 20 appearances he has made in the league this season

68fa145761a667bbf670dcd7d23735f7.png

some of the craziest results this year:

Competitions

we won every competition we were involved in, apart from the Champions League after two of the most underwhelming performances of the season against PSG

Overall, we only lost 2 competitive matches this season. The away match at PSG and the away trip at Mainz, where they took their revenge with a 1-0 victory for the 8-0 trashing they received at the Mercedes-Benz arena

Squad/Player performances

Another interesting development at the VfB camp has been Jenssen's succesful integration of the Libero in his new tactical system. Having won the Bundesliga at the start of April, Jenssen got bored and decided to re-train Benjamin Gallus to a Libero, as Orban is getting older and older and Gallus seemed a perfect fit for the role.

breaking-news (1).png

4f511747a06b1ead5ff8192d6e7522c1.png

Stuttgart won comfortably the remaining matches of the Bundesliga with this system as well as winning the German Cup after beating Gladbach in the final

More detailed information about the tactical development in this post in the tactics section of the forum*

*please note I have played the first half of the 24/25 season purely for the purpose of having more time to develop and experiment with the tactic, Jenssen will still retire at the end of the European Championship this summer

I find it shocking and unbelievable that Gnabry and Hoxha have been left out, but hey, with 14 of our players in Germany's squad for the tournament already I think players from other clubs deserve a chance too :)

it's up to the boys to crown Jenssen's career now...
