marcftm
Very Nice rev. I will start again with Sunderland soon after I have made my Arsenal side very successful, who happen to have Kenwyne and Gordon playing first team for them, Gordon already saved a penna, and Im four games in. Kenwyne's got 4 goals as well.

revolution_is_my_name
only problem is now we're in the red again. i dont see how, i'm almost 300k p/m under on wages and have 4 mill left of transfer kitty. think it's like 7mill in the red, hopefully that will go down due to savings on wages...guess i dont get a new feeder club this year
Gregg
Thanks to the Christmas holidays I have finally been able to kick off my Sunderland career. I was looking forward to this to see just how much of a challange it would be with Nialls millions and a Championship side. I was slightly surprised to find I had only £500k to spend, I guess those Irish millins hadnt quite reached the clubc bank account just yet. So first things first, time for a clear out, cut some of the dead wood from the squad. Outs: Clive Clarke - £1,500,000 - Hull Grant Leadbitter - £900,000 - Wolves Daryl Murphy - £1,500,000 - Crystal Palace Anthony Stokes - £1,200,000 - Burnley Russell Anderson - £700,000 - Derby Nyron Nosworthy - £1,500,000 - Sheff Wed Ross Wallace - £1,500,000 - Sheff Utd Danny Higginbotham - £500,000 - Cardiff Graham Kavanagh - £220,000 - Hull Total funds raised - £9,500,000 I tried to sell others to cut the wage bill and raise additional funds however no one would take the likes of David Connolly, Chops and co. Fortunately the board gave me an extra £6m in time for the January sales. So with funds raised I set about rebuilding the squad to one that would achieve my aim of survival. With some hard wheeling and dealing I managed to bring in the following: Cristian Sarghi - £180,000 - Otelul Juno Makela - £28,000 - Hearts Jonny Evans - Season Loan - Man Utd Charles-Andre Doudin - £100,000 - La Chaux-de-Fonds Mathieu Flamini - Season Loan - Arsenal Enrico Chiesa - £50,000 - Siena Bogdan Stancu - £250,000 - Unirea Urziceni Rene Mihelic - £350,000 - Maribor Justin Hoyte - £3,100,000 - Arsenal Anthony Vanden Borre - £3,000,000 - Fiorentina (January buy) Andrey Arshavin - £5,250,000 - Zenit Peterburg (January buy) Total Spend - £12,500,000 (plus additional causes and fees) I didnt feel like I had a strong squad, but it was definitely capable of holding its own in the crucial battles between lower placed clubs. Andrey Arshavin was probably our strongest buy and would get a game with most Premier League clubs. Strongest Line up: 4-4-2 Attacting (using wingers) GK: Craig Gordon RB: Justin Hoyte LB: Ian Harte CB: Jonny Evans CB: Cristian Sarghi RM: Andrey Arshavin LM: Kieron Richardson CM: Dean Whitehead CM: Mathieu Flamini ST: Kenwyne Jones ST: Bogdan Stancu Final League Position: 13th When fielding my strongest line up we were able to compete in most games, but injuries hit us hard during the season. It was a mixed bag of results, one week we got beat 7-1 away to Arsenal but the following week we went to West Ham and won 5-2. My team has become increasingly frustrating with a complete lack of consistancy. We were close to a top half finish, and if we hadnt gone on a really bad run at the end of the season we would probably be qualifying for the EURO Vase. But 7 games without a win soon put an end to our dreams of Europe. Overall I am happy with the season, we wanted survival and we got it. I saw the likes of Middlesborough relegated and knew we had done well to achieve our aims. So season two is about to kick off, I have committed to a mid table finish so that I can receive a £30m transfer budget. Will be a real test of my skills and hopefully I will buy some solid players. Merry Christmas guys
AcidBurn
Had to start yet another game with my beloved Sunderland after new computer finally came i am going for a career game this time round but knowing how poor i am with tactics it may not last that long lol. Anyways here is my transfer deals so far at beginning of first season Transfer History Seems like a pretty good squad nothing spectacular but hopefully enough to achieve safty in first season. Happy Christmas everybody although after we play Man Utd tomorrow i doubt it will be that happy lol.
SAFCowper
Hey guys! just wondering what formation youre playing and team instructions. will post my start of season update soon
kouki
I won the league in my second season with sunderland, was only aiming for a top half finish, champions league here i come.... Was with a fairly average young team aswell. Billy Sharpe is a legend, european golden boot winner with 30+ goals in his first season. London donovan was players player of the year. For season objectives i wonder would it be best to pick euro cup qualification for 16M and ask more later or pick title challenge for 27M. If i did not meet this objective whats the chances of being sacked??? League table 2009 My Team (very surprised to win the league with this team, what do you think)
AcidBurn
Holy crap dude i think you are now one of my heroes how in the holy hell did you manage to win the league in your second season, how about uploading your tactic because it must be a great one to win the league with. Well done dude i managed to get sacked in the first season and have given up for now.
Trilo_G
Well done!! Being a magpie I hate Sunderland but cannot fault your achievement there!! Where did you finish in your first season? Today I finished my first season with Newcastle and placed 3rd, and it was the first time I witnessed Sunderland stay up, finishing in 15th place. This was largely due to poor performances by Middlesbrough and Tottenham, who kinda bumped them out of the relegation zone. Towards the end of the season they had a string of easy games but seemed to really find their form. Every other time their inconsistency has lasted the entire season and they have had to wait for another pop.
Trilo_G
Oh... and I'd keep your aims realistic. £16M is a good chunk of money, although quite small considering what you have achieved and hope to achieve next season. Like you said though, you can ask for more later. If you've won the Prem with that squad, it can't need a total revamping. A couple of quality youngsters should do it. kouki
Thanks... As for tactics they were defensive in the first season and more attacking in the second. Start off with short passing, tight marking and normal tackling but changed during alot of games that were not playing well bringing on my target man and using long ball. Sometimes losing 2-0 all out attack winning 3-2!!! First season harry kewell on loan was my hero with reliable billy jones and billy sharpe signed up. As for my objectives i was gready and took the money as a few of my first team last season were loan acquisitions that were not interested in returning and the squad needed more strenght and depth. I better meet though as the club is now in debt..... first season was 7th, Magpies just beat me to europe but i was avoiding relegation!!!

kouki
January Update Maybe last season was just not a one off and maybe the media pretection of 4th place finish was not far wrong as Sunderland are proving to be a force in the premier league and also proving no push overs in the champions league either. Took a chance on J Roman Riquelme for a snip at 3m and he has being sensational as he has consistenetly put in some immpressive displays for us. Got Gordon to sign a new contact and now he is happy for the first time in three seasons. Set the asking price to 140m so clubs dont come in with offers of 12m for Niall Quinn to accept and it has worked so far. Have signed up 2 young goalkeeping talents that have the potential to be better then gordan according to my scouts and another on the way in July! kouki
Finished 3rd Season Prem 1st: One point behind United going into the last game. Playing Bolton away and down to 10 at half time the score is 1-1. Changing Tactics (4-1-3-1) and going all out attack we one 3-1. Middlesbrough of all teams needed to to me a favour which they did beating united 2-0!!!! FA CUP Winners: The highlight was coming from behind to beat Newcastle 2-1 in the 120 minute of extra time. Meeting Chelsea in the final and have never beat them we were up against it. Leading 2-1 at half time, changing tactics (4-2-1-2-1) all out defend to hang on to our lead which we just about managed to... League Cup Winners: Highlight was beating spurs in a shootout when Gordan managed to save 5 pens and we managed to miss 4 winning 2-1 in sudden death!!!! European Champions Cup Winners: All the games were highlights expecting to win none.... Top Goalscorer: Billy Sharpe (40) Most Assists: J Riquelme (18) mom's: H Saivet, B Sharpe (8) Avg Rating: J Riquelme (7.32) EPL AWARDS Footballer Of The Year Award: J Riquelme 2nd Players Player Award: M Hamsik 3rd Young Players Player Of The Year Award: E Benega 2nd Top Goal Scorer: H Saivet (23) 2nd EUROPEAN CHAMPION CUP AWARDS Best Player Award: J Riquelme 1st My team are all average enough players, some good talents but no way good enough to achieve this success. If it was a world class team that i built i would be happy but this just seems unrealistic....title challengers maybe but no way european cup winning standards. Would of prefered to win it in a few more seasons with a bit of a world class put together as it would seem realistic. Requelme is the only world class player i took a chance on for 3m as he can be hot or cold, but boy was he sensational as he has consistenetly put in some immpressive displays for us. If there is any reason for this success i owe it all to him!!!

kennymeister
I struggled with Sunderland for the first two seasons and now in my my 3rd season my team cant stop scoring and i am 3rd in the league, I think my success has been getting scouts with high stats and sending them to countries with good young players, england is too expensive to buy excellent players, i have signed young players with lots of potential and now everything is coming together nicely. I bought Fabiano santacroce for 3 million and sold him for 19 million a season later to AC Milan. I am playing a 4-1-3-2 with wing backs and two forwards set as strikers. My first 11 is as follows. Craig Gordon Paul McShane Diego Placente Steven Thicot Gustavo Cabral Thiago Motta Luca Cigarini Matias Fernandez Lulinha - (wonder kid) Alfonso Alves (unbelievable finisher!) Eddie Johnson or K Jones. I also have some amazing young players coming through, I have my scouts looking for the best young players in the world, then buy them and loan them out. Already have a replacement for Gordon so will sell him shortly for a massive fee! Bought the replacement for 50K! I play defensively and counter attacking. very little running with the ball, all two touch football!
kouki
I bought Fabiano santacroce for 3 million and sold him for 19 million a season later to AC Milan. What was his avg. rating for the season, how did he play? I was going to sign him but his physical stats are not great in my game, didnt think he would suit the EPL. Already have a replacement for Gordon so will sell him shortly for a massive fee! Bought the replacement for 50K! Ive three Gk with all better comparision to Gordon with the potential to be beter my coaches tell me costing 1.5m, 800k and a free transfer.... heres my best option i think
revolution_is_my_name
4th season - won the league by 2 points or something. was 1st from october onwards! couple of snaps from the campaign... sold raul bravo to man city for 1mill, trying to get rid of richardson but apparently neither charlton nor norwich can afford 2mill (which i think is a fair price considering he's worth nearly 4mill) got a piddly 25mill budget this season: have 2 players in mind but can only afford 1.. Jeremy Menez - got a 12mill +10mill over 2 years bid accepted also want to latch onto carlos vela but arsenal want upto 40mill I could sell aaritalo for 20mill to juventus - but he accepted my contract instead - which would then lead me to needing a new left winger...which menez could definitely cover

kouki
Starting 4th season. It was a very busy summer refreshing the whole squad, building a new team around riquelme and "B Sharpe" lol, he's a legend. Hes even keeping a regen striker that i bought that has similar stats to Fred, Amauri and Klose but at a young age of 21 has the potential to be better! Trying to poach Bojan is my transfer target for the season as i signed him on a season long loan Ive paid alot of attention to my coaches and staff, but now i have 7 star training for each category. Another highlight of the summer was getting DC United as my aaffiliate club. The presence of Sunderland in the USA will be a major benefit to merchandising sales Sold Gordon during the summer for 27 million that could increase to 35 million!!! My new keeper has a better then gordon when you compare them both. He has also kept three clean sheets in 5 games. The Media predection for the year is 1st postion in the league and the board have the same expectations as well as to reach the FA Cup Final, League Cup semi Final and European quater final. The most stupid part of the game i have seen to date is "the board are concerned about the teams performance last season", WTF FFS the team won every competition they played in so how F annoying is that

Patrick27
Just finished my first season with Sunderland. Finished 12th. Happy enough with that. Highlight of the season was beating Newcastle at the Stadium of Light 4-2. Harte scored a hattrick of pentalies. Team I played 4-1-4-1 GK Gordon RB Halford CB Nosworthy CB Anderson LB Harte DM Kavanagh RM Edwards CM Whitehead CM Richardson LM Wallace ST Jones Anyways I got a 9 million transfer buget off Niall. Have bought David from Palmeries. Now I'm looking for a good left back to replace Ian Harte. Carlnhos and Gulihrme teams want 6 million for them. Any good LB around 3-5 million? I was also wondering who should I sell. I bought Iriome as backup to Edwards. Is he good enough? Also who should I look at regarding U-18. Any good young players that will go to Sunderland? Jol\'s Yid Army
Just started a new game with Sunderland. Massive stadium and hoping in the future Niall hands out abit of cash. Line Up GK: Gordan RB: Nosworthy LB: Wallace/Harte CB: Ignashevich CB: Samba DM: Flamini/Ghaly MC: Whitehead/Richardson MC: Mihelic/Piatti RW: Piatti/Iriome LW: Leonardo/Pryor ST: Makriev/Stancu/Jones Performance So Far Everton (H) 3-1 Man Utd (A) 1-4 Reading (H) 1-1 Newcastle (A) 1-2 QPR (A) 4-0 Blackburn (H) 3-0 Not bad start at home this season, 2 wins and a draw is good and all were comfortable. Away we got destroyed by Man U and Newcastle outplayed us. However, constantly tweaking tatics and there is improvements ever game so hopefully will have some consistancy home and away soon. Have one feeder club which Yeovil which I have sent Doudin, Bjarnsson, Scribe and Stokes on loan for the season so hopefully they will improve. Cant wait to see Thiago and Markin develop as these are the cornerstones to my youth system and within 2/3 seasons they will be in the first team. Got rid of assistant and bought in Nilsson so will strengthen rest of staff in January when I am given more money or sell the rest of my deadwood. Keep you updated. Jol\'s Yid Army
Thats odd, I asked for his contract to be terminated by mutual consent. Paid about £250K out of the bank balance but had no rejections from the board.

Jol\'s Yid Army
Nice team Rev. Be interesting how some of those guys play for you, as some did well for me and others did awful! Just finished my first season and will give an update tomorrow when isnt so late! Dont give up on Kenwyne. He was 4th choice striker for me at the start of the game. By the end of the season he was first choice by miles. Alot to do with the strikers I had didnt perform, but he finished with my highest Av. Rating and top scorer with 11 goals. Good luck. AcidBurn
Just starting the 5th season now first season finished 8th, second season finished 4th third season 2nd and won champions league, 4th season won the league heres my team. GK C Gordon LB G Bale RB N Hunt CB A Vidal CB Samba CM Banega and Sunny Rotating them MR R Babel rotated with Giovanni Dos Santos ML H Ben Arfa Rotated With Ashley Young AM Matias Fernandez ST Adriano ST Billy Sharp Subs O Olazabal I Akinfeev P Ilhan J Lescott A Arshavin J Vaughn David Giles Barnes Toni Kroos A Regen striker who has scored at least 20 a season for 3 seasons now, got a regen fullback who is extremely fast and can play LB or RB. Another Regen who can play DMC CM and AMC just won young player of the year. My squad is very strong and i hope to win the league again this year. I got Akinfeev for £6 million as i could approach to sign him. I did this because Craig Gordon has done nothing but moan that he cannot go to Man Utd and i am thinking about letting him go as Olazabal is a good enough backup for Akinfeev. It amazes me how much money you can make from selling players on. Stancu bought for 250k sold for £7.5 million, Breno bought for £6 million sold for £22.5 million, Palacio bought for£9 million sold for £23 million, Dzs-something bought for 400k sold for £8.5 million. Combined with prize money, tv rights and sell on clauses Sunderland are a gold mine. Parlak Ilhan is hopefully going to be a great buy his stats have rocketed since i bought him and he is now just starting to edge his way into the first team as Billy Sharp wasn't his usual self last season. Vidal is a great buy as he can play LB, CB and DM I got him to replace Breno at half the cost of what i sold Breno for and he has been a rock for the last 2 seasons now. Anyone see anyways to improve my squad?
