TioPatinhax
Quick question guys, is the Webster rulling present in FM, and properly implemented? Thanks
Jimbokav1971
I didn't know about the "Webster ruling", but having just looked it up, it would seem that FIFA ruled that he had to pay Hearts £775k in compensation, (reduced from something higher). Seems a bit confusing to me.
forameuss
I think it's safe to say it isn't, but maybe I'm wrong. I had never heard of it before today, unlike the Bosman, which was a huge deal.
TioPatinhax
Out of curiosity, why didnt SI include this FIFA rulling in the game, Alex? It is quite well explicit in the article I believe.
TioPatinhax
Just to let everyone know what I am exactly talking about, you can read here this example with Cabaye: http://www.themag.co.uk/the-mag-articles/cabaye-force-transfer-summer-via-webster-ruling-cabaye-transfer-fee/
TioPatinhax
But isnt Article 17 the one related to the Webster rulling? Being able to break contract after 2 or 3 years of staying with the same club(depending on the age of the player)
milnerpoint
Its no where near that simple, that is a terrible article that makes it look straight forward. There is no way every single player can buy out his contract after 3 years, it just isnt that simple.
TioPatinhax
Yes that is the case Alex, but sometimes (like in Cabaye´s case and plenty others) clubs do get caught up in situations where players are no longer "protected" in their contracts, therefore enabling the Webster rulling possibility. And it is true that it was before present in FM, too bad it´s no longer there for the sake of realism.
TioPatinhax
tbh I seem to remember that the system used for unprotected contracts in older versions wasn't all that realistic & was nothing more than an approach to sign button, it never factored in that the player had to hand in notice or that the level of compensation isn't a straight forward Wage x Contract length calculation. What about training compensations, is this implemented in FM currently? Meaning for example when a player under 23 even when he is free transfers to another club, a training compensation must be payed?
