Effectively you won't need to renew them unless the AI come in and bid for one of your staff, which in my experience has been quite rare. What this does mean though that you'll either need to pay 12 month compensation when replacing a staff member, or offer them mutual termination (which should always be accepted, and should result in a slightly lower termination fee).
