Hello. I have found this FM extremely hard, and I'm yet to taste success in any of my saves. I will be posting my first career thread and I'm going to start unemployed with a semi-professional reputation, as I've found from previous experience, Sunday league reputation causes tedious waiting periods for teams to approach you. I'm not too sure about setting an aim or target yet, as I will be unemployed to begin with. As soon as I join a team, I'll be sure to post my aims.

So here are my managers details:

Hopefully I'll get some success in this save and stick to it. More posts to follow very soon!

So, a few days into the game and I apply for the only available job in the English game: Stockport County. One of the countries biggest fallers over the recent years. Falling from League One to Conference North in under 10 years. In the the 2009/10 season, they finished bottom of League 1 on 25 points. Next season, they finished bottom of league 2 on 41 points. They stayed in the Conference Premier for two seasons, and in their second season, they were relegated to the Conference North. Anyway, I applied for the job and got offered an interview, as shown below:

A pretty miserable few years for the Hatters to say at the least. Could I be the one to spark a revival?

I have been appointed as Welling United manager. 2012/13 Conference South champions from the London Borough of Bexley.

https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/944x531q90/593/y3v5.png

'The Wings' as they are known, play their home games at the 5,000 capacity Park View Road Stadium. Erith & Belvedere groundshare with Welling and have done since 1999. Yeah, a few facts; pointless but anyway lets get started.

The Wings currently lie in 23rd after 7 games, picking up 1 win, 1 draw and 5 losses.

https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/944x531q90/802/jo43.png

The finances are worrying; £98k in the red, some serious work needed, but since the club rejected a parent club in the interview, there's no easy income in sight. A cup run desperately needed.

https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/944x531q90/36/j35u.png

Also, I have no assistant manager so will be signing anyone to start with.

First managerial game is away at Southport who lie in 16th.

I will be updating after every month on the game from now on. Enjoy :)

Good start to my Welling career. Taken 8 points from my first 5 games, fairly good for a side tipped as certain relegation candidates. Could well have been 12 points but conceded in the dying embers of both the Aldershot and Macclesfield games, quite infuriating.

https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/944x531q90/560/5yc1.png

I have made 3 signings (Omar Koroma on loan from Forest Green, Oliver Risser on Free transfer and Jamie Vincent on Free Transfer) in the hope of strengthening the squad.

The finances are on the down again, not good news, but we enter the FA cup very soon, so hopefully a cup run will do our finances wonders.

https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/944x531q90/163/g6kv.png

We currently lie in 14th after 12 games. I am hoping to set a realistic aim for the club by the end of next month. For now we'll take each game as it comes.

Bring on October.

Very disappointing month after a good start to my career at Welling. Just one win in 5 in all competitions. Yes, we were knocked out of the FA cup by Weston-Super-Mare, rather fitting of our performance in that game (their name that is).

https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/944x531q90/35/jf0m.png

So our FA cup run is over and our finances are looking pretty grim still, although they haven't decreased, but increased by £2k. Not a world of difference I know.

https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/944x531q90/46/fpi7.png

As for the transfer side of things, two more players have joined the club. Gavin Cowan, who has recently been released by Nuneaton on the game has joined on a free, and Luke Ruddick has signed on loan from Salisbury for 3 months. As for outgoings, various first team loanee's are soon returning back to their clubs, and with the limit on the amount of time a player can be on loan at a club in the Conference, I won't be getting them back. :thdn:

Second month down, hoping for much better things.

Bring on November.

Another fairly poor month. Only 4 points from 5 games. However we did manage a win in the FA Trophy 1st round away at Scarborough Athletic.

http://imageshack.us/a/img546/8426/znk0.png

As for the finances of the club, they have decreased by £10k, and still stand in the red. The FA Trophy isn't a massive paying competition but it will have to do for this season.

Transfers: I have made 5 new signings in the last month of the free/loan window

-Justin Cochrane (Free)

-Roman Michael-Percil (On loan from Tottenham)

-Jon Adams (Free)

-Dale Binns (Free)

-Glen Southam (On loan from Eastleigh)

I signed these players mainly as back-ups for the ever-growing injury list. I have since sacked my physio, who's physio stats stood at 8, and replaced him with a much better physio.

This is my first thread, and would appreciate any comments/feedback on how I could improve it. :)

Roll on December.

Welling United

Overview

Things seem to be getting worse for me. Only 4 points picked up from this month from a possible 15. December started with a 4-1 loss to Hyde. Our only goal scored by our leading scorer, Ross Lafayette.

This 'Hyding' was followed by a big result of our own; 5-1 away to lower-league Bishop's Stortford in the FA Trophy 2nd round. A goal from midfielder Joe Healy, an own goal and a Hat-trick from Ross Lafayette secured a great result which sees us face Barnet at home in the 3rd round. A very good result considering our recent form. A turning point perhaps?

No chance. Days later, a loss to Gateshead bought us back down to earth. Ross Lafayette once again scoring for us.

Our next game was at home to Wrexham. Wasn't expecting to come out with anything, and didn't come out with anything. Lost 4-1 and deservedly. Young striker Loick Pires with our only goal.

We won our next game 2-0 away at Dartford. A much better performance and hopefully a return to form. Goals from Ross Lafayette and Loick Pires secured our first league win for just under a month.

Our final game of December was away at rock-bottom Aldershot; stuck at the bottom due to their 10 point deduction. The match finished 3-3. Aldershot, undeservedly, stole a point in the last 5 minutes. Goalscorers for us: Loick Pires (2) and Ross Lafayette.

Lafayette has 11 goals in all competitions this season for us, and is our top scorer. Loick Pires follows with 6 goals.

Our finances are on the down once again. They currently stand at -£127k; a £10k loss from last months sum. May have to release players and cut back on youth setup for the time being.

So, we are in the relegation zone at the end of 2013. Hopefully 2014 will be an improvement.

Roll on January.

Thanks to anyone who has read this thread :) Advice and suggestions will be appreciated.

Just a little bit of feedback, it looks better if you post screenshot links with 'titles' instead of just the raw links, the code it like this...

Title (use 'reply with quote' to see it and any other code you want to use on any post on the forums)

You can just copy and paste from a previous time you used it and change the link and wording.

One word to describe this month. Poor. 4 points from 5 games ensures we stay in the relegation zone for the start of February. Performances have been poor and I'm yet to find the right tactic for the team.

The month started brightly with a 3-0 win at home to Braintree, who were performing above expectations in 5th at the time we played them. A goal from Oliver Risser and a brace from Ross Lafayette saw us make a good start to the new year.

But the good start was short lived. Back to old ways as we lost 2-0 at home to Barnet in the FA Trophy 4th round. No cup games for another season, so the team can focus on avoiding a swift return to the Conference South.

Back to the league, and a loss at the hands of Lincoln. 3-0 the scoreline was, which again, was a dreadful performance.

And again we lost; failing to find the net for the 3rd game in succession as we fell 2-0 against local rivals Woking.

Another local derby, another loss. We managed to find the net late in the first half, but it wasn't enough to comeback from a 2-0 deficit against Dartford. 2-1 the final score. Kurtis Guthrie with our goal.

The month ended on a much better note than the earlier games with a 1-1 draw to Alfreton. Centre-half Joe Henderson with our goal, who then went and got himself sent off.

The finances have improved since last month, but stay in the red, and will do for the foreseeable future.

Another poor month. Relegation is looking inevitable at the moment. 2 points out the 4 games. However, performances against Cambridge and Tamworth are good signs.

This month I'm going to just show the results instead of talk about them, which will give me more game time.

So here they are - February results

And here is the league table. - Skrill Premier

I forgot to talk about transfers in the last update, so I'll bring you up to date.

-Clive Platt (On loan from Northampton)

-Alex Dyer (Released by previous Welling manager-free transfer)

-Loui Fazakerley (Released by previous Welling manager-free transfer)

-Ruben Lameiras (On loan from Tottenham)

-Mark Timlin (On loan from Ipswich)

-Kevin Betsy (Recently released by Woking-free transfer)

Finances

Our top goalscorer remains Ross Lafayette with 17 league goals.

Can we pick up crucial points in March? Lets hope so.

Bedford Town appoint Astbury as new manager

Finally, a new challenge. Newly-promoted Bedford are currently in the Skrill North.

I have a wage budget of £2.27k and a transfer budget of £0.

The board have set the expectation for me to avoid relegation. A very reasonable expectation for the club, following their recent promotion.

Club Background

Bedford Town were founded in 1908 and in the early years they played in the Northampton League and Northampton Alliance, which later became the United Counties League. The original colours were black and amber with a change to blue and white at the start of the 1950–51 season.

The club was folded in 1982 when the owners of the stadium they played in at the time, terminated the lease, and the plans for a new stadium failed. The club was reformed in 1989 by a group of Bedford Town supporters. The reformed club gained permission to play their games on a public pitch near their old ground.

The club play their home games at The New Eyrie; a 4,000 capacity stadium with 300 seats. Their nickname is 'The Eagles'.

Club Honours

Southern League

South East Division champions 1958–59

Championship Play-off winners 1958–59

Division One champions 1969–70

Division One North champions 1974–75

League Cup winners 1980–81

Isthmian League

Division Two champions 1998–99

South Midlands League

Premier Division champions 1993–94

Division One champions 1992–93

Bedford share a rivalry with Kettering, Hitchin Town and St. Albans City.

You wouldn't have guessed it, but I've made a terrible start to my time at Bedford. No win in August. My pre-season was dreadful as well. It could be down to the fact that I have made countless signings as the squad was inept.

Results

There's also an early insight to my start in September as I forgot to screenshot the summary shots of August. How amateur of me.

I've made an average start to September. Picked up my first points, so hopefully I can build on it.

Well it was tough, and in the end it was too much. I resigned as the manager of Welling United and the board 'were glad to see the back of me' :(.

I really wish text strings like these would be done away with from the game. Sometimes it looks as if SI have 14 year olds doing the copywriter work, so much of the interaction being worded so unprofessionally.

Good luck with your escape efforts with Bedford though. Always tough with a newly promoted team, let's hope you pull through.

Only 2 points to get out of the relegation spots, so you have everything to play for. Have enjoyed your exploits, & makes a change from this constant success you keep reading about in other threads. I am like you & never find it easy.

Cheers mate, having a bit of a break from the save atm. Will be posting soon. It would be nice to have some success for once ;).
