2022/23 PREVIEW

Team Analysis

8rdox.jpg

The 2022 summer was the least active since Jnoubi took over the club in 2013, with only three players coming in and no important first team players leaving. The hope for Jnoubi was that the stability would help the club and allow the players he had put faith in the previous season to develop and perform at a higher level. Between the posts, Jeferson remained only real starting option for the club, but the addition of Marc Hojland Mortensen, the 17 year old who came from Brondby on Free Transfer in the middle of last season, has given a reliable back-up who had potential to be a Premier League starter in the future. Jeferson continues to be one of the club’s most important and highest rated players and the 23 year old Brazilian will start his fourth season with the club as one of the most physically imposing GKs in the Premier League.

The defensive line has one big question mark going into the 2022/23 season – who will be the starting central defender alongside Ignacio Veloso? Ante Vida spent the 2021/22 struggling as a starter, despite so much being expected of him. He has now turned 19 years old, but has not shown any signs that he is up to the challenge of starting in the Premier League. Veloso, on the other hand, has shown he can manage the Premier League game just fine, finishing his second season with a 6.95 AR and missing only one game. Given the circumstances, it was widely assumed that Jnoubi would go after an accomplished central defender during the summer – he didn’t, however, and the assumption is that he thinks his now 17 year old £400k acquisition from Middlesbrough last year, Aaron Owens, will be given a chance to prove that he is ready in a rotation with Vida. The full-back positions are in a more solid state than the center of the defensive line, as both Leonardo Mestechilli and Hatim Aarab have the full faith of the manager. They are 19 and 18 years of age, respectively, with the latter having been bought for a then record of £8.5m. Aarab has much more upside then the Argentinean left-back, but both proved to be capable of starting for a Premier League team in their first year with the club last season. Leaving the club after three years is 19 year old Nassim Youcef, whose demand for first team football this season did not sit well with Jnoubi, and he was unloaded for £1.7m. This has left the club thin in terms of depth behind the full-backs, with long serving former starting left back Carlos Pereira capable of backing up both positions – the problem is, there is not much after that but very raw youngsters who are not currently and may never be of Premier League quality.

The midfield line for Bromley always begins with its club captain and starting right winger, Elliot Rudd. He had a very good season last year, scoring 12 goals and dishing out 10 assists, and once again proved his worth to the club – what makes him even more special is that he is a product of the Bromley Youth Academy and has been with the club since its days in the Skrill South league. At the left wing position, Mats Daehli scored 8 goals and registered 8 assists as he was again one of the club’s most consistent and important players. What has Jnoubi excited, however, is Javier Zaballa, the 18 year old French left winger who is likely to see a lot more playing time this season rotating with Daehli given that his talents can no longer be denied playing time. Behind Rudd at the right wing position is the equally talented Ivano Rizzi, an 18 year old Italian who has all the attributes to make a fantastic winger – great pace, great technical ability, good defensive and attacking instincts. Jnoubi spent a then record of £6.5m on him two seasons ago based on that ability, and he will be expecting the player to start living up to the hype. The central midfield positions are also in great shape – Jonay Diaz and Nikolaj Andresen have obvious talent, and Jnoubi will be looking for a breakout season from both of them in 2022/23. Both players have great all-around ability, which includes good pace and physical shape. Jnoubi also invested £4.4m in Auxerre’s Todd Wellman, a 17 year old central midfielder with fantastic all-around ability, and is said to be a better attacking option than both Diaz and Andresen. The manager also spent £6m on Christian Tshibasu from Rennais, one that has been bought definitely for the future. He can provide coverage at either winger position, but cannot be expected to contribute much this season.

The third, and biggest, of Jnoubi’s signings this season was David Sanchez, the 18 year old striker who was bought from Espanyol for a Bromley record for £13.5m. His acquisition means one of two things – either Sanchez’s talent was too good to pass up on given how gifted he is, or Jnoubi has doubts about Kieran King’s capabilities as a starter. While King’s form was fine in his second season with the club, there is a growing sentiment that he has reached his ceiling in terms of development as a footballer, and if that is the case, he has some glaring weaknesses, especially in his lack of pace. His partner up front, Laurie Jones, has no such issues, however – 16 goals and 16 assists last season speak volumes about the ability of the Bromley Youth Academy product. He has all the right abilities going forward, and has been dubbed by some in the media as the second coming of Michael Owen.

New Signings

s7mw.jpg

David Sanchez£13.5m: The new Bromley record signing, he will be expected to slot in with Jones and King in a three-headed front line. The 18 year old arrives with some big expectations as his talent is tremendous.

Todd Wellman£4.4m: Potentially better than both Diaz and Andresen, he is still very young and will be used in a rotation as a back-up to both central midfield positions.

Christian Tshibasu£6m: An option on either wing position, he is still very young and very raw, but his abilities are already very advanced.

That's a very solid season

Could have been even better if you hadn't had that bad run through January and February.

That's the problem with having such a young team - the inconsistent form drives me mad at times.

Your game has broke if England have won the World Cup.

Haha - versus Ukraine in the World Cup Finals no less.

2022/23 SEPTEMBER UPDATE

8p21.jpg

nkkt9.jpg

By the end of September, the club was already knocked out of the Capital One Cup, having reached the Third Round of the tournament before running into Chelsea. The start of the Premier League season did not go so well either, as they failed to win any of their first three games, but the squad picked it up in September with three consecutive wins, including a 5-0 home win over Hull in which Laurie Jones scored a hat-trick and an impressive 1-0 away win to Liverpool. As such, Kafra Jnoubi was crowned September Manager of the Month, while Nikolaj Andresen was named Young Player of the Month after recording a 7.97 AR in his three games.

2022/23 OCTOBER UPDATE

queg.jpg

tuuuf.jpg

October started off rough for the club, as they were defeated 1-0 at Swansea in an underwhelming performance that saw them drop down to 6th Place. Hatim Aarab did have a good game, however, winning the PoM and recording a 7.5 Rating. During the international break that took place in the first two weeks of October, 18 year old Portuguese striker Roberto Joaquim earned his first cap for his nation, scoring in his debut, as well. That did not help much in the squad’s next game – a home match against rich Newcastle, who came away with a 2-0 win over Bromley at Hayes Lane, another match in which the Bromley players looked unmotivated and uninspired. It was three straight losses for the club as they also lost against Arsenal, but they finished off the month with a 2-1 home win against West Bromwich.

ejug.jpg

November was a good month for the club, as they went undefeated in all four of their games. The first two were both 2-2 draws, away to Fulham and at home to Manchester United, and they ended the month with two victories – 2-1 away to West Ham and a 4-3 home win against Blackburn. Nikolaj Andresen won the Young Player of the Month for the second time this season, while youngster Christian Tshibasu began to show some of his potential with a brace against Blackburn.

2022/23 DECEMBER UPDATE

s7h6.jpg

b058.jpg

Six games in December were played, and three ended up wins while three ended up loses. They ended the month with two consecutive home losses – a 4-3 result against Aston Villa and a 3-1 result against Chelsea. They also lost to Tottenham 1-0 away at White Hart Lane, but took the results they were supposed to against Cardiff, Watford, and Wolves. For the second consecutive month, and third time overall this season, Nikolaj Andresen was named the Young Player of the Month, scoring a goal and recording a 7.27 AR in his six matches.

Kafra Jnoubi could not ask for a better way to end the season – in 5th Place with Europa League spot sealed for next season. It was a great team effort, especially from the defensive and midfield lines, with players such as Aaron Owens, Jonay Diaz, Nikolaj Andresen, Ivano Rizzo, and Javier Zaballa impressing immensely despite their young ages. Investments was put into the club across the board, as the Youth and Training Facilities were both improved, while expansion plans were put in place for Hayes Lane. The expansion plans were going to take twelve months to complete, so Bromley were going to play the next season at Stamford Bridge – the previous tenants, Chelsea, were moving to their brand new Chelsea Stadium at the beginning of the 2023/24 season.

GOALKEEPERS

Jeferson, GK, 23 Years Old: The Brazilian GK had a bit of a slump this season, registering a 6.73 AR – his lowest since joining Bromley four years ago. Incidentally, his 1.57 Con/90 was his lowest since Bromley moved up to the Premier League three years ago, but that was more due to the fact the defense in front of him tightened up as opposed to his play. He remains a very bright prospect at the position, but this season perhaps tempered expectations about him a little bit. He still has the potential to be amongst the very best in the world, but he will have to show more than he did this season in 2023/24.

Marc Hojland Mortensen, GK, 18 Years Old: At odds with Bromley management all season long over his playing time, Mortensen found himself playing in 8 league games, registering a fantastic 0.63 Con/90 to go with his 3 clean sheets and 6.82 AR. It is unlikely he will ever take over the No.1 spot from Jeferson, but he does have good potential and is still very young. Whether he will want to stick around and be the back-up for long remains to be seen, however.

DEFENDERS

Leonardo Mestichelli , DL, 20 Years Old: It was more of the same from the 20 year old Argentinean in his second season with the club, and has continued to prove that he was a bargain at £1.5m. He played in 37 games, registering 3.54 TpG and a 6.86 AR – reasonable numbers for a player just out of his teens in the Premier League. What he didn’t show, however, was marked improvement in his abilities, which points to the fact that perhaps he has begun reaching his cap in terms of potential.

Ignacio Veloso, DC, 22 Years Old: One of the club’s longest serving players, the Spanish central defender played in his sixth season with Bromley this year, and again proved he was as trustworthy as ever. In 33 games, he registered 2.72 TpG, 439 Interceptions (second most in the Premier League), and a 6.99 AR – while the first number is on the low side, his ability to cut off a pass and his consistency, as shown by the other two numbers, has made him one of the club’s most valuable players.

Aaron Owens, DC, 17 Years Old: Going into the season, Jnoubi had a problem at the central defender position – Vida had proved himself not capable of being a starter alongside Veloso, and Jnoubi had to find a replacement. The transfer deadline passed without Bromley acquiring one, however, as Jnoubi decided to take a risk and start his young £400k acquisition from Middlesbrough the previous year, a risk that ended up paying off in a big way. Not only was Owens one of the best players on the squad, he became one of the hottest commodities in football, playing in 28 games, scoring 4 goals and registering 3.01 TpG, 339 Interceptions, and a 7.10 AR. Perhaps the most impressive thing about Owens was the improvement he showed in all facets of his game throughout the year, although if one had to nitpick, it would be at Owens lack of pace. He reminds many of a young John Terry, and if he can go on to have the kind of career Terry did, then he would have been quite a catch for Jnoubi at the price he bought him for.

Hatim Aarab, DR, 19 Years Old: He did not come cheap at £8.5m, but he looks to be worth it, especially after the solid season he delivered. In 34 appearances, he registered 3.29 TpG, 344 Interceptions (second highest on the team), and a 7.00 AR – a marked improvement over last season, his first with the club. He has incredible physical abilities to match his fantastic pace, and there is little that is wrong with his ability as a right back. Jnoubi can perhaps look forward to a breakout year from the Frenchman next season.

Ante Vida, DC, 20 Years Old: Once thought to be the club’s future at the central defender position, he has fallen out of favor with Jnoubi and seems destined to be the third choice behind Veloso and Owens. In truth, he had a better season as back-up than he did as a starter, playing in 18 games and registering 1.99 TpG and a career-high 6.81 AR. It is unlikely that Jnoubi will look to extend his contract after it expires, however.

MIDFIELDERS

Mats Daehli, ML, 28 Years Old: The club’s oldest and highest paid player, this was perhaps his last as a full-time starter considering how well his understudies Zaballa and Tshibasu did. He was not happy about his apparent lack of playing time, participating in only 18 games and registering 3 goals, 5 assists, and a 6.87 AR – his lowest since joining the club. The Norwegian international has good ability and great pace, but it seems Jnoubi is ready to bring on his future at the position earlier than Daehli would have hoped. With his contract expiring next year, it is unlikely the player would be willing to take a pay cut at the prime of his career, which probably means his contract will not be extended.

Jonay Diaz , MC, 21 Years Old: The pressure was on Diaz and Andresen to finally deliver on their potential and promise this season, and both rose to the occasion and did just that. Diaz played in 29 games, registering 4 goals, 6 assists, and a career-high 7.11 AR matching up against some of the best midfielders in the world, further solidifying his starter role for the club. He is still young, and he will again be expected to improve on his fine form next season as the club prepare to battle it out in Europe.

Nikolaj Andresen, MC, 20 Years Old: The Danish Young Player of the Year actually had a better season than his buddy Jonay Diaz, and rose to the pressure and delivered on his promising potential after four years with the club. This was the type of season expected from the Dane, as he played in 34 games, registering 5 goals, 12 assists, 1.67 TpG, 1.47 DpG, and a 7.24 AR. He was considered one of the best central midfielders in the Premier League this season, and his fantastic all-around play had him be the subject of a £20m bid from Russia – a bid the player himself refused in order to stay at Bromley.

Elliot Rudd, MR, 25 Years Old: The captain, club legend, and now Australian starting right winger spent two months away from the club on duty with his home nation, and missed another two months thanks to injuries, leaving him with a very incomplete season for his club. Nevertheless, in the 14 games that he did play, he was his usual self – he registered 5 goals, 5 assists, 2.96 DpG, and a 7.09 AR. Incidentally, this was also his tenth season with the club’s first team since coming from the Bromley Youth Academy, a crowning achievement for a player who participated in every league for the club since their march from the Skrill South to the Premier League. With the emergence of Ivano Rizzo, there are questions as to whether he will continue to play such a heavy role in the starting eleven come next season, but it is doubtful Jnoubi will alienate Rudd – instead, expect him to be part of a rotation with the young Frenchman.

Ivano Rizzo, MR, 19 Years Old: With Rudd out on international duty, Rizzo seized his chance to shine and never let it go, winning the Young Player of the Year award enroute to a very impressive season. He played in 29 games, registering 9 goals, 6 assists, 6 PoMs (tied for 3rd best in the league), 3.29 DpG, and a 7.14 AR, and much like the man he was playing in place of, his pace was a nightmare for opposing fullbacks all season long.

Todd Wellman, MC, 18 Years Old: A £4.4m acquisition from Auxerre at the beginning of the season, he might yet end up being a better player than either Andresen or Diaz once he hits his peak. He played in 27 games as the third choice central midfielder this season, registering 2 goals, 5 assists, 2.33 TpG, and a 6.93 AR – quite a well-rounded season from someone so young. He has great attacking instincts and is good defensively, too.

Javier Zaballa, ML, 19 Years Old: After spending the offseason asking for a transfer because of lack of playing time, he finally put his signature on a new contract and saw his playing time significantly increase. He played in 25 games, registering 6 goals, 8 assists, 2.71 DpG, and a 7.02 AR – numbers that had Jnoubi starting him more than Daehli towards the end of the season. The word is going into next season is that Zaballa will be Jnoubi’s favored choice at the left wing position, and if that is the case, he certainly has the talent to do so.

FORWARDS

Laurie Jones, SC, 21 Years Old: Arguably Bromley’s most important player, he was again the club’s leading goalscorer with 16 goals, the same number as last year. His other numbers took a bit of a dip, however – he only registered 6 assists and a 6.98 AR, both down from the 2021/22 season. Some analysts are suggesting he is ready to take on a role for the English national team, and he certainly seems to have the talent, with pace and finishing his strongest points.

David Sanchez, SC, 19 Years Old: Bromley’s record signing at £13.5m, he did not have quite the season expected of him, although he did deliver a decent season by any measure. In 27 games, he registered 7 goals, 4 assists, 1.35 TpG, 1.47 DpG, and a 6.84 AR, showcasing an all-around game that could potentially have him being a great complete forward. He will be expected to do better next season, however, and the club will be looking for double digit scoring for him considering his price tag.

Kieran King, SC, 20 Years Old: Two things contributed to King’s sharp drop in his third season with the club – the acquisition of Sanchez and his lack of improvement. A decent player by any right, King has just not shown the type of progress to have Bromley’s management believe he is Premier League starter material. The Scottish international registered only 3 goals in his 20 games – a bad return for a striker. He will most likely be the 3rd or 4th choice striker next season, and given his talents as they stand, that is about what his ability is.

Roberto Joaquim, SC, 19 Years Old: He certainly has the pace, although the rest of his attacking ability is average, which is why he has not seen himself playing too many minutes as of yet. Whether he will be happy with his playing time as the season progresses remains to be seen, because he did make noise during the 2022/23 season about this very issue. Still, he has potential enough for Jnoubi to try to see him through.

ONES TO WATCH

Jose Manuel Planas, DC, 17 Years Old: Jnoubi paid Barcelona £4.8m for the youngster, so he must have a plan in mind. The central defender is almost a replica of Aaron Owens in terms of ability, and has already got a great defensive instinct that really can’t be taught. In his 6 appearances, he played well, registering a 7.05 AR – he will probably be used much more than that come next season.

Christian Tshibasu, ML, 17 Years Old: Even though he paid £6m for the French youngster, even Jnoubi could not have expected the impact he had this season. In 14 games, he scored 8 goals and registered a 7.14 AR, playing some fantastic football that turned a lot of heads. His pace is fantastic, but it is his technical ability with the ball that really sets him apart. A great talent for the future.

Nathaniel Hooper, DR, 17 Years Old: He spent the year on loan and ended up being one of Luton’s best players in the Sky Bet League 1. Jnoubi has already insisted that the youngster will play his football at the club next season backing up Aarab, so he should see ample playing time and enough of it for his game to continue to develop.

Great stuff Abulezz.
Great season mate! Hope you do well in Europe next season!

Thanks! Hopefully we'll be able to compete at a decent level in Europe, even though the squad is still very young.

Looking at some of those players, you must have an incredible grasp of tactics.

If you notice, I don't really have any standout performers - I tend to focus on a rigid system that doesn't allow for much artistic expression - this changes when the quality of team gets better, but the tactics I currently deploy is controlled and rigid, with focus on the flanks.

2023/24 PREVIEW

Team Analysis

0jn6.jpg

For the fourth straight year, Jnoubi broke the club’s transfer record on a player, and for the first time in the history of the club, he managed to recoup over £20m in the sales of players during the summer. The third highest fee was paid by Newcastle for 18 year old Danish GK Marc Hojland Mortensen, who was given his wish of leaving the club after the north-east side forked over £4.9m for him. He was unhappy about his position as back-up behind No.1 Jerferson, despite the Brazilian having perhaps his most inconsistent season since joining the club for years ago. His 6.73 AR was the lowest of his Bromley career, and he averaged 1.57 Con/90 in 30 games for the club. His position as the club’s primary GK is not in jeopardy, but at 24 years old, he has to start producing at a more consistent and higher level. Still, he is a solid GK to have, and although perhaps not considered one of the brightest prospect at the position in the world anymore, he remains potentially a very good Premier League GK.

The largest sale of the summer was left back Leonardo Mestichelli, as the 21 year old left back went back to Argentina after being bought by Newell’s for £5m. He was not on the transfer list and Jnoubi had no plans to sell him, but an offer towards the end of August came through for him and the manager accepted. In the two years he spent with Bromley, the Argentine was decent but nothing more, and he seems to have reached his cap in terms of ability as a player. To replace him, Jnoubi paid £10m a week later to Barcelona to acquire their highly rated 18 year old left back Aitor Coll. The youngster has been very impressive for the Barcelona “B” team the last couple of years, and the scouting report on him says that his pace and defensive instincts are great, far outweighing that of Mestichelli. In the center of the defensive line, Jnoubi has one of the brightest prospects in the game in Aaron Owens, whom he bought from Middlesbrough for £400k in 2021. Last year was his second season with the club, and as 17 year old, the manager took a chance and a risk by starting him, one that worked out so well that he has become perhaps Bromley’s most important young player going forward. His 7.10 AR in 28 games was amongst the highest on the squad, and much is expected of him this season as he lines up with Bromley veteran Ignacio Veloso. The Spaniard is only 23 years old despite having featured in the Bromley starting lineup for the past six years – the 2023/24 will be his eight with the club. He also had a career season last year, as his 6.99 AR was a career-high, and he also has the ability to slide and cover at left back if need be. Behind them is Barcelona Youth Academy product Jose Manuel Planas, who was bought for £4.8m during the January window last year and is a very similar player to Owens (they are also both 18 years old), and 17 year old Bromley Youth Academy product Duncan Head, another potential star with loads of ability. At right back, the club is in very good shape, with 20 year old French wonderkid Hatim Aarab making the position his own. The youngster has all the right abilities and tools to become one of the finest at the position in the world, he just needs time to develop. Backing him up is 18 year old Nathaniel Hooper, another Bromley Youth Academy product who spent last year lighting up the League 1 with Luton.

The Bromley management was hoping the 2022/23 season would be the year both Jonay Diaz and Nikolaj Andresen would break out, and those prayers were answered in a big way, especially with the latter. Andresen had a wonderful season, capped by 12 assists and a 7.24 AR, as he developed into one of the best central midfielders in the Premier League. Jnoubi accepted a £20m offer for him from Russia during the January window, but the young Dane refused to part ways with Bromley, instead refocusing his efforts with the club and playing even better football. Diaz did not have the season Andresen had, but he still managed a very good one, registering 7.11 AR with a 2.74 TpG and a 1.82 DpG average, displaying a good all-around game for the club. Playing behind is 19 year old Todd Wellman, who has the potential to be better than both of them. The French central midfielder played a lot (27 games), and he will be expected to be even more present this season. Andresen was Runner-Up in the Young Player of the Year award, second only to his teammate, 19 year old French right midfielder Ivano Rizzo. Taking advantage of club captain Elliot Rudd’s absence, Rizzo demonstrated world-class ability last season and can no longer be denied after coming to the club for a then record of £6.25m from Lyon three years ago. He scored 9 goals to go with his 7.14 AR, and has is now clearly a better player than Rudd. The most likely scenario will see a rotation between Rizzo and the 26 year old club captain and legend Rudd this season by Jnoubi, but Rizzo is very obviously the future. At the other wing position, Jnoubi sold one of the club’s most important players over the last few years, Mats Daehli, for £1m to Norwich after failing to agree with the player over his wages. Already the club’s highest paid player, the Norwegian found a tough time fighting off the more talented Javier Zaballa and Christian Tshibasu last year, both of whom delivered highly impressive seasons despite their young age. This year, it will be the two French teenagers who will rotate at the left wing position, with hopes that they both can maintain their high level from the previous year.

After three years with the club, Kieran King was sold to Southampton for £5m, clearing the way for record signing Martin Mannel to rotate into the frontline. The 17 year old German has incredible potential – the pace, finishing, and attacking instinct is already there in abundance, and he will surely feature a lot behind £13.5m man David Sanchez and Bromley Youth Academy product and club legend Laurie Jones. Sanchez should have had a better season in his first year with the club, but it was by no means a bad one. Still, the expectation is that he will do better in his second year in England, and with his price tag, he certainly has a lot to live up to. Laurie Jones, on the other hand, has already proved his capabilities beyond any doubt, and there is talk that he deserves to be in the England national squad given his last few seasons in the Premier League. He again scored 16 goals for the club in the league last season, and has become a club legend given how he has risen through the ranks at Bromley.

New Signings

7v8m.jpg

Martin Mannel£15m: The record breaking signing is not one many are sure on, especially considering the fee that was paid. Jnoubi is very sold on the Leverkusen Youth Academy product, however, and will look to play him as much as possible.

Aitor Coll£10m: The second of the young players Jnoubi brought on that many consider he overpaid for, the Barcelona product will be thrown directly into the starting lineup despite his very young age.

Lukas Scherz£2.5m: The 17 year old Austrian striker was bought from Salzburg despite having only played one professional game for them. His potential is extremely high, especially considering his finishing is already very good.

Thomas Buus Andreasen£250k: One for the future, the 15 year old will probably be played in rare cases, although his potential is extremely high. Comes in from AaB in Denmark.

Kevin RaffertyFree Transfer: Bought on to play back-up for Jeferson, will be used sparingly and only when needed.

2023/24 DECEMBER UPDATE

5as1.jpg

m813.jpg

4d1k1.jpg

The two matches the team had in August went very well – they won both of them, with a 4-2 away win against Aston Villa in the second one being especially impressive as Ivano Rizzo scored a brace to help the team score the three points. Their first loss came during the first match in September as Bromley succumbed 4-2 in their temporary home of Stamford Bridge against former champions Manchester City, a result that exposed holes in the club’s young defensive line. From that point on, the team won most of its games, and saw itself sitting in 5th Place as January rolled around. They had successfully qualified out of their Europa League Group Stages, second to Frankfurt, and had done exceptionally well so far in the Premier League. Despite the good position in the league, they team was still conceding too many goals, and Jeferson continued to be consistent between the goal posts. Defensively, the team was not looking as solid as the previous year, and it was causing some concern for Jnoubi as the second half of the season rolled around.

In the Premier League, the defending champions Manchester United were four points behind leaders Chelsea, who had a three point advantage on second placed Arsenal. Despite the heroics of striker Pawel Nuckowski, who was leading the league with 20 goals in 18 games, Manchester City still found themselves only in fourth place.

PREMIER LEAGUE: It was a fantastic season for Bromley, who finished in 3rd Place ahead of the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool, and Tottenham. The 3rd Place finish also guaranteed the club Champions League football next season, giving the club a chance at a very high level stream of revenue. Bromley’s highest finish in the history of the club, it also brought with it new expectations going forward, and to start, the club will have to find a way to consistently defeat bigger opponents, such as the so-called “Top Six”. Bromley still finds itself at the losing end of matches with them far too often, and it was the case again this year. Still, it was overall a wonderful season for the club in the Premier League.

DOMESTIC CUPS: Not much to write home about this season, as the squad was disappointing in both the Capital One Cup and the FA Cup. In the former they lasted until the Quarter-Finals, falling to Fulham at home after an impressive defeat of Newcastle at Saint James Park the round before, while in the FA Cup, they fell in the Fourth Round after being defeated by Arsenal at home.

EUROPEAN CUPS: Like their performances in the Premier League, the club could be very proud of their first ever endeavor in Europe, managing to advance to the Semi-Finals of the Europa League before falling to fellow Premier League outfit Newcastle, who went on to win the title. Before losing both matches to Newcastle, Bromley had managed to defeat Granada, Shalke, and Anderlecht all without a loss in both legs of their match-ups – in fact, the only loss came in their Group A matches away to Frankfurt. They qualified second in the group behind the Germans, finishing ahead of Rostov from Russia and Basel from Switzerland. Ivano Rizzo and Laurie Jones were the definite stars in Europe for the club this season, as both players impressed in their first continental experience.

GOALKEEPERS

Jeferson, GK, 24 Years Old: For the first time in three seasons, the Brazilian played in every one of Bromley’s Premier League games, and his 1.42 Con/90 was the lowest since Bromley were promoted to the Premier League in 2020. His 6.80 AR, while not impressive, was more in line with his first two seasons at the club and a step up from the 6.73 AR he recorded last year, but the general feeling is that Jeferson just is not playing up to his potential, somehow. He remains a serviceable Premier League GK, and for the foreseeable future, he is as important to the club as anyone else.

DEFENDERS

Aitor Coll, DL, 19 Years Old: Jnoubi will be hoping his £10m mid-season acquisition from Barcelona will finally put an end to the one position that has given him the most trouble since he took over the club eleven years ago. The young Spanish left back played in 21 games, registering a great 4.12 TpG, giving the club something they never had before in a left back – a player with the ability to tackle well. His 6.79 AR was representative of his inconsistencies, but he did better as he got more games under his belt. A sprained ankle ruled him out of the last month of the season, but all signs point to a positive season next year.

Ignacio Veloso, DC, 23 Years Old: This was the first year since he became a starter for the club in 2018 that Veloso was not an automatic choice in the defensive line, but that was more a testament to the fantastic ability of the younger players that Jnoubi had bought that play the same position as opposed to Veloso himself. The Spaniard presented more of the same – in 25 games, he registered 3.21 TpG and a 6.84 AR, both adequate numbers although the latter was his lowest since becoming a starter for the club. As Jnoubi looks to bring his younger prospects, Veloso will likely see his playing time diminish a bit, but he remains an important part of the rotation.

Aaron Owens, DC, 18 Years Old: It was not quite the breakout season many were predicting for the young English defender, but it was no less impressive given how young he still is. In 31 games, he registered 3 goals, 3.07 TpG, 406 Interceptions (second-most in the Premier League), and a 7.02 AR. Considering he is just 18 years old, he has scouts drooling over his potential, and Jnoubi wisely signed him to a new contract that would see him at the club till 2029.

Hatim Aarab, DR, 20 Years Old: Hugely talented, it has not yet resulted in a great season for the French right back, although given how great his abilities are, it is probably right around the corner. In 33 games, he registered 3.99 TpG, 1.36 DpG, 365 Interceptions (9th in the Premier League), and a 6.96 AR – down a little bit from last year, his second with the club. He has all the right abilities, whether it is defensive instincts or pace and physical ability, so the expectation is that next season he performs at an even higher level than he is currently doing.

Jose Manuel Planas, DC, 18 Years Old: The £4.8m Jnoubi paid Barcelona for the central defender is beginning to look like a bargain, as the Spanish defender impressed in his second season with the club. He played in 18 games, registering 3.40 TpG and a 7.09 AR, rotating in the squad with Veloso and playing alongside Owens. More of the same is expected from him come next season, as he continues to cement himself in the first team and see more playing time.

Daniel Head, DC, 18 Years Old: The Bromley Youth Academy product featured more than expected, as Jnoubi introduced a rotation system, playing Veloso less and Planas and Head more. He saw a lot of his playing time covering for Coll at left back, as well, and did a decent job – in 16 games, he registered 3.86 TpG and a 6.90 AR, better numbers than expected from him. His development, like a lot of the Bromley Academy products, has impressed the coaching staff, and he has earned a place in the squad rotation going into next season.

MIDFIELDERS

Javier Zaballa, ML, 20 Years Old: This was the French winger’s first full season as a starter, replace Mats Daehli admirably in the line-up. In 31 games, he registered 7 goals, 9 assists, 2.48 DpG, and a 6.94 AR – while his AR was a bit low, he did show enough to convince Jnoubi and his coaching staff that Zaballa is the future of the club at the position, along with his fellow Frenchman Tshibasu.

Todd Wellman, MC, 19 Years Old: The same of Jonay Diaz came as a surprise, but it opened up the opportunity Wellman needed, getting put in the starting lineup fulltime. In 32 appearances, he registered 2 goals, 4 assists, 2.07 TpG, 1.04 DpG, and a 6.86 AR – good all-around numbers, although more will be expected of him in his first full season as a starter next year. His ability is unquestionable, so now he just has to learn how to harness it properly and become the world class player his potential suggests he can be.

Nikolaj Andresen, MC, 21 Years Old: After the sale of Jonay Diaz, it fell on Andresen to carry the heavy load in the center of the pitch, and he did a good job of doing so. The 21 year old played in 31 games, registering 4 goals, 11 assists, 1.19 TpG, 1.88 DpG, and a 7.11 AR – although his general form was a bit down from the previous season, he remained the heart of the midfield line. Andresen has become one of Jnoubi’s most important players, and with the imminent departure of Elliot Rudd looming, Andresen will be made vice-captain of the squad with Laurie Jones being named the new captain.

Ivano Rizzo, MR, 20 Years Old: Without a doubt Bromley’s Player of the Year this season, Rizzo took his role as the club’s new starting right winger and shone beyond anyone’s expectation. He won the Premier League Young Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, joining legends Ryan Giggs, Robbie Fowler, and Wayne Rooney as the only other players to do so. His numbers were fantastic – in 34 games, he registered 15 goals, 12 assists, 7 PoMs, 3.21 DpG, and a 7.24 AR, highlighting just how dangerous he was for the club charging down that right wing. The young Frenchman is certainly in line to win his first cap for the newly crowned European champions, and if he has another season like 2023/24, it would be very hard to deny him.

Christian Tshibasu, ML, 18 Years Old: It was not quite the season Tshibasu would have hoped for after bursting on to the scene in 2022/23, but it was a decent one nonetheless. He played in 31 games, registering 5 goals, 4 assists, 2.84 DpG, and a 6.83 AR, which was down from the 7.14 AR he recorded in his first year with the club. His pace is absolute nightmare down the left wing for opposing fullbacks to deal with, and his technical abilities continue to get better. He will continue to be one of the club’s main threats down the wings, and will be in the rotation with Zaballa come next season.

FORWARDS

Laurie Jones, SC, 22 Years Old: He will be named the club’s captain next season, and no deserves it more. A club legend, the Bromley Youth Academy product had a bit of an injury plagued year, playing in only 28 games. He did register 13 goals, 7 assists, and a 7.04 AR, leading the front-line as he has done for the past few years. He will break the club’s scoring record next season, and he continues to make a case for himself as a candidate for the English national team.

David Sanchez, SC, 20 Years Old: He cost Jnoubi £13.5 two seasons ago – a club record at the time – but so far, he has not lived up to his price tag. He has not been bad by any stretch, but he in 33 games, he only managed to score 9 goals to go with his 7 assists. His 6.86 AR suggests there is a lot more Sanchez can do to contribute, and he will have to start doing better next season if he hopes to start living up to his price tag.

Martin Mannel, SC, 18 Years Old: Bromley’s new record signing at £15m, the young German has given the club and its fans a lot to look forward to after his first season with the squad. In 28 games, he managed to score 11 goals and deliver 9 assists, registering a 6.98 AR, as well. Considering he was 17 years old throughout the season, those are fantastic numbers. Jnoubi will look to continue to develop the youngster with the first team, and he should see even more playing time next season as he looks to be the future of the club’s frontline.

ONES TO WATCH

Kenny Robinson, MC, 17 Years Old: The Bromley Youth Academy’s brightest current prospect, Robinson will be looked upon to provide depth at the central midfield position. He has plenty pace, and therein lays his greatest strength. The rest of his game is obviously still raw given his age, but he seems to possess good potential to someday be a solid player for the club.

Alfie Clark, MC, 17 Years Old: A Bromley Youth Academy product, it was his performances with the U18 squad this season that elevated him to the first team, and Jnoubi will look to utilize the youngsters abilities in the center of the pitch. He has shown remarkable improvement throughout the season, and remains a wild card – no one knows quite what his potential and peak are.

Thomas Buus Andreasen, DC, 16 Years Old: It is hard to believe that a player with such talent and such a young age cost Jnoubi only £250k. Even though the young Dane only played in 4 games, he registered 6.57 TpG to go with his 6.80 AR, and his performances with the club’s U18 squad left many scouts and fans alike purring. In a crowded defensive line that has a lot of depth at the central defender position, look for Jnoubi to find ways to make sure Andreasen gets enough playing time to help his development.

Champions League

Review - Knockout StagesDream Team

Second Round

Arsenal vs. Inter Milan: Perhaps the biggest matchup of the Second Round, it was Arsenal who took a tough 1-0 victory in London in the first leg. The Italians could not overcome the narrow result at home in the second leg, however, as Arsenal also won 1-0 in Milan to advance. Arsenal: 2-0

Bayern Munich vs. Valencia: Two goals in the final five minutes of the match gave Bayern Munich a 2-1 win in Spain in the first leg. The German champions went on to defeat Valencia 4-1 in Germany to return to the Quarter-Finals after a one year absence. Bayern Munich: 6-2

Paris Saint-Germain vs. Galatasaray: France’s biggest team continue to look for their first Champions League title, and they started things off well with a 3-1 win in Turkey in the first leg. The same result for the Turks in France, as PSG defeated them 3-1 to advance to the next round. Paris Saint-Germain: 6-2

Manchester United vs. Zenit: There were no surprises in the first leg in Russia, with the defending Premier League champions taking a big 3-1 win. They followed it up with 4-2 win at Old Trafford that sent them off to the Quarter-Finals. Manchester United: 7-3

Marseille vs. Juventus: Last year’s defeated Finalists were met with an inspired Marseille squad in the first round, falling 3-0 in France. They could only muster up a 1-0 win at home, crashing out in the Second Round while the French team advanced. Marseille: 3-1

Stuttgart vs. Barcelona: The Catalan giants took a 2-1 victory in Germany in the first leg, and an Erik Lamela hat-trick at home in Spain gave Barcelona a 4-1 victory in what was a relatively straight forward matchup for them. Barcelona: 6-2

Real Madrid vs. Dortmund: A tough 1-0 away win for Real Madrid put them in a good position after the first leg, with their goal coming in the dying seconds of the match. They took the second leg in Spain, as well, with a 2-1 victory enough to seal their way to the Quarter-Finals. Real Madrid: 3-1

Wolfsburg vs. Porto: The champions started off the knockout rounds away from home in a rematch of their matchup last year, and ending up losing 3-1 to their German opponents. The champions managed to turn it around in the second leg, however, defeating the Germans once again – this time, a huge 5-1 result in Portugal did the trick, one of the biggest European victories in the history of the club. Porto: 6-4

Quarter-Finals

Real Madrid vs. Barcelona: An epic Quarter-Finals showdown between two of the most bitter rivals on earth, it was Joaquin Correa who would get the Catalans off to a fine start in the first leg, scoring a brace and giving them a 2-0 victory at the Nou Camp. Correa’s brilliance was only outshone by Neymar’s absolutely mesmerizing performance at the Bernabau in the second leg, scoring a hat-trick in Barcelona’s 3-2 victory that saw them defeat their rivals and advance to the Semi-Finals. Barcelona: 5-2

Porto vs. Marseille: No one was doubting the credentials of the defending champions after the first leg in Portugal, as they ran 4-0 winners in an outstanding display against the French squad. Marseille did win the second leg in France, but the result was only 1-0, leaving Porto to advance to the Semi-Finals and keep up their quest of a back-to-back title campaign. Porto: 4-1

Manchester United vs. Arsenal: A mouth-watering All-Premier League encounter, it was a tense affair in the first leg in Manchester, as the home side came away with a 1-0 victory. In London in the second leg, however, Arsenal showed their superiority, winning comfortably 3-0 thanks to a brace by one of the Champions League’s stand out performers this season, midfielder Francisco Javier De Los Rios. Arsenal: 3-1

Bayern Munich vs. Paris Saint-Germain: Another matchup of European giants, Paris would play host to the first leg, with PSG scoring two first half goals and Bayern responding with two second half goals in a 2-2 result. It took extra-time to separate them in Germany after a 2-2 result, with Gabriel Iancu scoring his second goal of the match in the final seconds of the second extra-time to give Bayern a 3-2 victory and shatter the French dreams. Bayern Munich: 5-4

Semi-Finals

Bayern Munich vs. Barcelona: Having met in the 2017 and 2021 Finals before, matches with Bayern Munich both won, Barcelona was looking for a little bit of revenge. The first leg in Germany ended in a drab 0-0 affair, so it was the second leg that would decide the fate of the matchup. Two first half goals by Barcelona at the Nou Camp was enough to see them through to the Finals, as they won the match 2-1 and returned to the Finals for the first time since their defeat to Bayern in 2021. Barcelona: 2-1

Porto vs. Arsenal: Porto faced an English opponent in the Semi-Finals for the second straight year, and the first leg in Portugal was a hugely entertaining affair, with the home side winning 4-3 despite a brace from Arsenal striker Luke Pashley. The second leg in London was all Arsenal, however, as Aris Vrazanis, the star Greek striker, scored a sensational hat-trick that immediately threw him into the club’s folklore and saw Arsenal return to the Finals for the third time in their history – the previous two times, they had lost to Real Madrid in 2014, and Barcelona in 2006. Bayern Munich: 8-2

Finals

Estadio Da Luz in Portugal’s capital was the location Arsenal lost to Real Madrid in 2014, and ten years onwards, they would get a chance at redeeming that lost against Barcelona – the team that had defeated them in their first trip to the Finals in 2006. As for Barcelona, they were aiming at winning their sixth title in their eleventh Finals, having become one of the most decorated teams in the competition’s history. They were attempting to win their first Champions League title since 2016, when they defeated another English opponent, Chelsea, in Cardiff.

English Premier League

ReviewTeam of the Season

Chelsea captured their sixth title, and their first since 2019, this season, led by the fantastic play of aging Eden Hazard (33 apps, 17 goals, 9 assists, 7.20 AR) and Oscar (32 apps, 8 goals, 9 assists, 7.15 AR), with Jose Mourinho capturing his fourth Premier League Manager of the Year award. They replaced Manchester United (2nd) as champions, who missed out by just one point in their quest to defend their title. Alfredo Cifuentas had a bit of an off-season, while Joseph Noah has perhaps his finest for the club. Man United GK David De Gea also captured the GK of the Year award for the fourth time in his career, second only to Joe Hart’s six, positioning himself as one of the greatest to play the position in Premier League history. Bromley (3rd) continued to cause shocks throughout the nation, qualifying for the Champions League on the back of Young Player of the Year award winner Ivano Rizzo, finishing ahead of heavyweights Manchester City (4th). Man City had the best collection of talent in the league on paper, including Top Goalscorer and Players’ Player of the Year Mariel Everton, Footballer of the Year and £38.5m mid-season acquisition Tomas Diezma, and German super-striker Pawel Nuckowski. Kevin Olivera was once again one of the best players in the league, but his team Tottenham (8th) were once again highly disappointing, missing out on a European spot all together and finishing behind Arsenal (5th), Newcastle (6th), and Liverpool (7th).

French Ligue 1

ReviewTeam of the Season

Paris Saint-Germain recaptured the Ligue 1 title after two years of watching rivals Monaco (2nd ) take him the crown, and they did so in convincing fashion, finishing nine points ahead of the former champions. They had fantastic seasons from what many consider to be the world’s best all-around player in Hernan Olguin and this season’s Footballer of the Year Victor Wanyama, who came second to Aziz Bah in the Top Goalscorer award. Bah, whose team Auxerre (9th) were disappointing, was helped by Jonathan Dos Santos, who broke the league’s assist record. Monaco’s usual array of stars all had off-seasons together, with the exception of one of the greatest right backs to ever play the game, Gino Peruzzi. Marseille (3rd) have great hope for the future, as 18 year old Nolan Monteil was tied for second in the league with 8 PoMs despite playing only 21 games. Lorient (4th) and Bordeaux (5th) captured the Europa League spots ahead of Lyon (6th) and Lille (7th).

German Bundesliga

ReviewTeam of the Season

Bayern Munich made it two in a row and five over the last six years this season, although it was closer than they would have hoped. Having Top Goalscorer Ahmed Abbas, Players’ Player of the Year Robert Lewandowski, and Thomas Muller, who had a career year, definitely helped their cause, as they had those three were arguably three of the top five best players in the Bundesliga this season. Wolfsburg (2nd), who finished in second place for the third straight season, were led by Timo Werner, who came second to Abbas with 19 goals, while Hannover (3rd) and Dortmund (4th) grabbed the last two Champions League spots. Footballer of the Year Mike Kahlisch, who has been called one of the best midfielders in the world, saw his club Shalke (6th) qualify to the Europa League despite having a disappointing season, and they were joined by Hoffenheim (5th) and HSV (7th) in the competition next year. Bayern Munich legend Toni Kroos was given his first managerial job, as he was tasked with getting newly relegated Dusseldorf back to the Bundesliga – he was appointed after the season had been completed.

Italian Serie A

Review Team of the Season

Record-breaking seasons from Inter Milan (2nd) players could not help the club overcome Juventus, as the champions defended their title successfully despite Serie A Player of the Year Roberto Pereyra having a once in a generation season that saw him set a new Serie A record with 29 assists and his teammate and Top Goalscorer Duvan Zapata becoming the first player since Luca Toni in 2006 to score 30 goals in a season. For Juventus, the only standout performer they had was Paul Pogba, who won the Serie A Foreign Player of the Year award for the third time in his career. AC Milan (3rd) spent £55m bringing in Jose Angel from Atletico Madrid, but the midfielder failed to make an impression, playing in 16 games and not managing to score a single goal. Napoli (4th), Bari (5th), and Empoli (6th) all qualified to the Europa League.

Spanish La Liga

ReviewTeam of the Season

It took Valencia twenty years to recapture the La Liga title, wresting away from the hands of Real Madrid (3rd), who had won it the last two years. Valencia’s 22 year old French midfielder David Gillet was the catalyst, and as such has become perhaps the most in-demand central midfielder in football. Barcelona (2nd) have now seen four seasons go by without a title, their longest wait since they went six seasons between 1999 and 2005. Neymar was their best player, and was the La Liga Top Goalscorer for the second time in his career with 18 goals. Real Madrid finished a distant third, with Granada (4th) winning the last Champions League spot. Atletico Madrid (5th) had Footballer of the Year Vitinho on their squad, who ended up breaking the La Liga assist record after delivering 19 assists this season. Real Betis (6th) beat out rivals Sevilla (7th) for the last spot in the Europa League this season.

2024/25 PREVIEW

Team Analysis

t5yh.jpg

This was the first summer in five years that Kafra Jnoubi did not break the club’s transfer record paid for a player – instead, he broke the transfer record received with the surprising sale of David Sanchez to Atletico Madrid for £17.5m. The sale came as a shock to many because he was considered to be one of the cornerstones of the squad, one which Jnoubi paid £13.5m for just two years ago. The offer was obviously too good for Jnoubi to pass up on, especially as Sanchez, despite his young age, had left an unimpressive mark the last two seasons. He was the latest addition to a long list of first teamers that the manager had sold over the last two seasons, including the likes of Jonay Diaz, Kieran King, Leanardo Mestichelli, Roberto Joaquim, Mats Daehli, and perhaps most importantly, the club captain for the past several years, Elliot Rudd. The latter is perhaps the hardest to swallow, as his desire for a new challenge and his dwindling playing time allowed Jnoubi to accept a £2.5m bid from Aston Villa for the 26 year Australian club legend, whose departure is the first real heart-breaker in terms of players leaving the club for Bromley and its fans. This leaves the club with a very different starting eleven than the one that first earned the promotion to the Premier League four years ago.

Doubts are beginning to creep in about the quality of Bromley’s chosen No.1, Jeferson. When he first joined the club on Free Transfer five years ago, he was considered one of the brightest GK prospects in the world, but that is no longer the case – in fact, he can no longer be considered one of the brightest prospects even in England. His play was better than the two the previous year, as his 6.80 AR was an improvement over the 6.73 AR he registered in 2022/23, and his 1.42 Con/90 was his finest since the club joined the Premier League four years ago. He is still young enough to make amends and grow his talent, but at this point, he is looking like a decent Premier League GK and nothing more. Luckily for him, Jnoubi does not have any real options behind the Brazilian, and has thus far focused on trying to improve other areas of the team, but one has to wonder how long the manager will go on keeping what has been a mediocre GK between the posts now that his team has become a Champions League bound one.

The defensive line starts with Aaron Owens, who is quickly becoming the most sought after young central defender in the world. Seeing him play, one would be forgiven in thinking he is way older than his 19 years of age, and he already has two full years of Premier League action under his belt. His 7.02 AR last year does not display the full picture – his importance to the team cannot be overstated, which is why Jnoubi made sure his new contract runs through to 2029. His partner in the starting lineup, Bromley veteran Ignacio Veloso, is not the automatic choice for Jnoubi anymore, however – just two seasons ago, the manager’s headache was who would be playing alongside Veloso in the first eleven, and now it is Veloso on the outside looking in. The most position on the squad when considering current and potential ability is the central defender position, and there will be rotation for the other central defender spot that will include Veloso, Jose Manuel Planas, Faisca, and new signing Genaro Domingues. This list still does not include the very talented Thomas Buus Andreasen, who has yet to turn 17 but could very well be better than all the above mentioned players. Overall, the central defender position is one that Jnoubi has figured out quite well, and is the deepest position on the squad. At the two full back positions, the starters are also extremely talented – on the left is the 19 year old Spaniard Aitar Coll, bought for £10m during the January window last season, and 20 year old French right back Hatim Aarab, who has yet to truly explode and show his talent three years after being acquired for £8.5m from Nantes. There is little doubt that both players will feature heavily in the years to come for the club, as both are considered one of the best young prospects at their positions, respectively. Backing them up are two players from the Bromley Youth Academy – at the left, there is 18 year old Duncan Head and at the right is 18 year old Nathaniel Hooper. Both players are expected to earn decent playing time this season, so there will be a chance for both to show what they can do.

The exit of Jonay Diaz in the middle of last year came as a shock to many, as Jnoubi accepted a £9.5m offer for the 21 year old Spanish central midfielder from Russian club Zenit. His replacement was already on the squad and ready, however, and Todd Wellman stepped up and became the full-time starter. He has yet to replicate Diaz’s performance level, but Jnoubi has insisted the 19 year old Frenchman be given time – the same thing he afforded Diaz and the other starting central midfielder on the pitch, Nikolaj Andresen. The 22 year old Danish midfielder has become known as the heart of the Bromley midfield, and has had offers north of £20m come in for him. The 2023/24 season was the second straight season he had double digit assists in, registering 11 to go along with his 7.11 AR. His development into one of the best central midfielders in the league has been a relatively long one, but he has gotten there and has become an indispensable member of the team. At the right wing position, after ten years of first team action, Elliot Rudd has left the only club he has ever known in order to seek more consistent playing time with Aston Villa. He was sold for £2.5m, but the reality is his contributions over the past years to the club have been priceless. The former captain and club legend departed with a heavy heart, and he will be missed by staff, teammates, and fans alike, as he was a dream to work with. His departure looked imminent once Ivano Rizzo took the starting right winger position as his own last season due to Rudd being away on international duty and injured, and he has not looked back since. Rizzo won the Premier League Young Player of the Year award for the second consecutive year, and was Bromley’s finest player bar none during the 2023/24 season. He led the club with 15 goals, 12 assists, and 7 PoMs, and his 7.24 AR was the highest amongst the starting eleven – he has become as indispensable as any other player on the squad, and Bromley rejected a bid of £22.5m for him at the end of the season. At the left winger position, Javier Zaballa has been given the nod as starter since Mats Daehli left the club, and the 20 year old was up to the task, registering 7 goals and 9 assists last year. He shares his playing time with another sensational French talent in Christian Tshibasu, who continues to develop well under the tutelage of the Bromley coaching staff. Tshibasu will continue to see ample playing time, as he is potentially the biggest goalscoring threat the squad has out of the midfield. Backing up Rizzo at right wing will be new £9.5m signing Johannes Meichelbeck – the pacey 17 year old was signed from Freiburg after impressing for their B squad, and Jnoubi will look for him to contribute this season when resting Rizzo.

The sale of David Sanchez was a shock to many, as he had only been with the club for two years and was only 20 years old, with a lot of room for development. Still, £17.5m is pretty hard to say to, especially with a player like Martin Mannel waiting to replace him. The 18 year old German might be the next big thing in world football – in 28 games as a 17 year old last season, he scored 11 goals and registered 9 assists and a 6.98 AR. He will be thrust immediately into the starting lineup alongside newly appointed captain and club legend Laurie Jones, who had a bit of an injury plagued season last year. He still managed to score 13 goals in 28 appearances to go along with his 7.04 AR, and he will be expected to lead this young squad to another Champions League spot this season, as well.

New Signings

u2yf.jpg

Johannes Meichelbeck£9.5m: The 17 year old will serve as backup for Ivano Rizzo this season, but look for him to feature a lot in the first team.

Genaro Domingues£4.1m: He will be part of the squad rotation for the central defender position alongside Aaron Owens.

Radim Bohac£1m: The 15 year old will be the youngest player in the history of the Premier League and Bromley if he plays at the beginning of the season, and he will also be the youngest goalscorer if he manages to score. He will feature, given the lack of depth in the Bromley frontline.

Henrique£625k: The Brazilian will backup and learn from the other Brazilian GK – Jeferson – in Bromley’s lineup.

France Wins Euro 2024 in Spain

France captured the European title for the third time in the history of the competition, equaling the record held by both Germany and Spain. The hosts crashed out in a horrible blaze to World Champions England in the Quarter-Finals, as the English destroyed them 5-0 in one of the most incredible results in the history of modern football. England eventually fell to France on penalties in the Semi-Finals, while Germany defeated Turkey, also on penalties. Ireland were perhaps the biggest surprise of the tournament, advancing to the Quarter-Finals after defeating Holland on penalties, eventually falling to the Turks. Adnan Januzaj of Turkey won the Best Player award – deservedly so after scoring 2 goals and registering 5 assists and a tournament high 7.75 AR in Turkey’s 6 games.

Congrats on the great season! 3rd is a fantastic achievement, so close to winning it as well! :brock:
Great season Abulezz.

Thanks! I am extremely happy with the results of this season, although I think it was a one off thing and I don't believe we will emulate it come next season - not yet, atleast.

PREMIER LEAGUE: This was the first season under Kafra Jnoubi’s management that the team did not finish in a higher position than the previous year – Bromley finished in 3rd Place during the 2023/24 season, whereas it could only finish in 5th Place this year. This was due more to overachieving last year, as the club played some fine football and finished above expectations yet again. While not making the Champions League again is certain to be a disappointment, a Europa League spot is a pretty good consolation. The difference this year is that newly crowned champions Arsenal and Manchester City, both of whom had bad years in 2023/24, played the kind of football a team featuring their stars should play, and Chelsea and Manchester United, the two teams that finished ahead of Bromley last season, also were better squads. Still, there is no shame in finishing ahead of teams like Liverpool and Tottenham, and if it wasn’t for the three defeats in April, Bromley would have seen itself in 4th Place.

DOMESTIC CUPS: Both domestic competitions ended in the first game for the club. The Capital One Cup Third Round saw Bromley lose away 5-3 to Hull, and the FA Cup Third Round had one of the most disappointing results of the season for the club, as they lost to lowly Ipswich 2-1 away from home as well. All in all, a very bad season for the domestic trophies.

EUROPEAN CUPS: For the first time in the club’s history, Bromley participated in the Champions League, getting an automatic seed due to finishing in 3rd Place in the Premier League last season. The group was a tough one, as Group G saw heavyweights Real Madrid and Dortmund were joined by Feyenoord and Bromley. The club somehow managed to win its first group stage game away to Dortmund 3-0, and that set the precedence for the rest of their group matches, losing only to Real Madrid at home and drawing them away. They defeated Dortmund and Feyenoord in both matches, with the latter falling 5-2 to Bromley in London. In the Second Round, 2023 Champions League and current Portuguese League champions Porto were drawn as their opponents, and once again they impressed, getting a 2-1 victory in Portugal and then a great 4-1 victory at home. The club’s streak ended in the Quarter-Finals against Inter Milan, as they lost both games – 2-1 way in Milan and 1-0 at home – ending what was a great run through the Champions League.

GOALKEEPERS

Jeferson, GK, 25 Years Old: This was, by far, his finest season in a Bromley uniform….His 6.88 AR was the highest of his Bromley career, and the 1.42 Con/90 the second highest….He is still prone to inconsistencies and will probably never be more than a decent GK prospect, but he has done a serviceable job the last two seasons, and his improvement this year has been a pleasant surprise….He played in all 38 league games for the second straight season, highlighting the importance he holds in the club’s starting eleven thanks to the lack of depth in the position for the club.

DEFENDERS

Aitor Coll, DL, 20 Years Old: Is he the answer for the club at the position that has given Jnoubi the most headache throughout the years? The jury is still out, especially as he cost the club £10m last season….This is not to say that he did not do a decent job this season, because he did – in 33 games, he registered 3.58 TpG and a 6.91 AR, both reasonable numbers….Still, Jnoubi did not expect reasonable and decent when he paid Barcelona £10m for him….His talent is obvious; he has great speed and good defensive instincts, and Jnoubi will be looking for him to become one of the better left backs in the league come next season.

Aaron Owens, DC, 19 Years Old: There is no denying that Owens has become one of the best central defenders in the Premier League after this season….He earned his first cap for England against Czech Republic, and it likely the first of many more to come….At the club level, he continued his fantastic play and development….He played in 37 games this season, registering 3 goals, 4.06 TpG, and a career-high 7.16 AR….His most impressive stat, however, was his league leading 511 Interceptions….Jnoubi is known for finding gems at bargain prices, but Owens might be his best – he cost the club only £400k from Middlesbrough four seasons ago….He is probably worth fifty times that at this point.

Genaro Domingues, DC, 18 Years Old: Bought for £4.1m at the beginning of the season from Atletico Paranaense, he was Jnoubi’s favorite choice in the rotation as far as partners in the central defender role next to Owens was concerned….He has a lot of the abilities his manager looks for in a central defender – good physical ability, great defensive instincts, and a talent in the air….He appeared in 25 games, 20 as starts, registering 3.51 TpG and a 6.98 AR….Not much in the way of technical or attacking ability, but none will be required of him in any case…Will continue to be the focal point of the rotation come next year as well.

Hatim Aarab, DR, 21 Years Old: With four years under his belt with Bromley, the French right back has become Jnoubi’s most perplexing player….His talent is unquestionable, and he has all the physical and technical abilities to become one of the world’s leading right backs….He is still not there, however, and no one is quite clear why….In 31 appearances, he registered 2.90 TpG and a 6.94 AR, both numbers he should easily be doing better in….He has earned 30 caps for France in the U21 level, but has yet to earn his first cap….As has been the case in previous years, the Bromley management and fans alike will be hoping that 2025/26 will be the year Aarab finally lives up to his talent.

Jose Manuel Planas, DC, 19 Years Old: The other part of the rotation, along with Domingues, for the central defender position alongside Owens….He played less than his Brazilian teammate, however, featuring in 20 games and registering a 6.86 AR….In truth, his play was not all that great, and a lot of that has to be attributed to his lack of pace….Still, he is a danger in the air and has good defensive instincts….He was acquired from Barcelona for £4.8m, which some have suggested Bromley having overpaid with that price.

MIDFIELDERS

Javier Zaballa, ML, 21 Years Old: The 2024/25 season was almost a replica of the previous one for the French left winger….In 30 appearances, he registered 8 goals, 7 assists, 3.01 DpG, and a 6.95 AR….Considering he was bought for a measly £11k, he has to be ranked as one of Jnoubi’s biggest coups ever….Still, there is a nagging sense that he is capable of so much more, especially with his ability on the ball and his ridiculous pace….It is safe to say that Bromley no longer have an issue at the left wing position.

Todd Wellman, MC, 20 Years Old: A disappointment this season, the French central midfielder has yet to prove that Jnoubi did the right thing selling Jonay Diaz and entrusting him to play alongside Andresen….He played in 35 games, registering 5 goals, 4 assists, and a 6.88 AR, all very ordinary numbers from a player that was supposed to develop into something special….It is starting to look more and more unlikely that he will live up to the earlier hype, as he has not progressed as a footballer the way Jnoubi would have hoped….He is still young, however, and will be given at least another season to prove himself.

Nikolaj Andresen, MC, 22 Years Old: It just keeps getting better for the Danish international, who has already earned 27 caps and scored 4 goals for his country….His 6th season with the club was his best yet – in 36 appearances, he registered 5 goals, 15 assists (3rd best in the league), 1.62 TpG, 1.50 DpG, and a career-high 7.25 AR….The description that he is the heart of the Bromley team is accurate, and he was named the club’s vice-captain at the beginning of the season, as well….He is in fine form for his country this season, too, registering a 7.53 AR for Denmark.

Ivano Rizzo, MR, 21 Years Old: The French right winger broke the Premier League record this year by being named its Young Player of the Year for a third consecutive season, the first ever to complete that feat….The incredibly fast winger played in 27 games, registering 10 goals, 11 assists, 3.75 DpG, and a 7.37 AR….In other words, he was one of the best at his position in the league….This was the second consecutive season he had recorded a double-double (more than 10 goals and 10 assists in a single season)….One of the quickest players in the world, he combines his speed with great control and technical ability.

Christian Tshibasu, ML, 19 Years Old: Three years after joining the club from Rennais for £6m, the French left winger has become a very important member of the team….Technically, he is Zaballa’s backup, but on several occasions this season, Jnoubi opted to play them both in the starting lineup simply because Tshibasu’s talent cannot be denied….His pace and technical ability are both amongst the best in the team, and in just 12 starts (24 appearances in total), he registered 8 goals, 6 assists, 2.66 DpG, and a 7.08 AR.

Johannes Meichelbeck, MR, 18 Years Old: Jnoubi paid £9.5m to pry him away from Freiburg, and one can see why….He played in 20 games this year, registering 4 goals and 4 assists….He also registered 3.07 DpG to go with his 6.93 AR….His manager likes his wingers to be pacey, and that is exactly what Meichelbeck is….In fact, he is a similar player to the one he is backing up, three-time Young Player of the Year Ivano Rizzo….He will continue to see playing time next season, potentially even more than his first with the club.

FORWARDS

Laurie Jones, SC, 23 Years Old: If there was ever a season the newly appointed captain would like to forget, it would be this one….The club legend played in only 18 games thanks to a broken foot, scoring only 6 goals and registering a 6.91 AR that was his lowest since the club was promoted to the Premier League….How his broken foot heals and how he performs next season remains a big question mark, especially as Bohac and Mannel made the most of the opportunity given to them….Still, he remains the soul of this Bromley squad and a sentimental favorite for both the manager and the fans, and it is unlikely Jnoubi will give up on him so fast.

Martin Mannel, SC, 19 Years Old: After his first season with the club in which he scored 11 goals as a 17 year old, a lot was expected of him, but no one could have predicted the impact he would have….With Jones out with a broken foot, Bromley’s record signing at £15m was thrust as the club’s main offensive weapon, and he exceeded all expectations….In 36 appearances, he scored 24 goals (tied for third best in the league), 11 assists, 7 PoMs, and a 7.31 AR – all at the age of 18….He also led the Champions League with 7 assists, showing maturity and poise way beyond his years….It is safe to say that Jnoubi has found his star striker for the future, and the best part of it, he is contributing in big ways right now.

ONES TO WATCH

Kenny Robinson, MC, 18 Years Old: A product of the Bromley Youth Academy, he has begun showing his worth….In 10 appearances, of which only 3 were starts, he registered 2 assists, 2.54 DpG, and a very respectable 6.93 AR….His pace is his main weapon, as he is very fast and only getting quicker with age….He reminds a lot of scouts of a young Elliot Rudd, who was utilized as a right winger….The comparisons are relatively accurate, but Robinson is a lot more talented in the technical side of the game….He looks to be the third choice central midfielder next year, so he is set to see extended playing time.

Alfie Clark, MC, 18 Years Old: Perhaps the most surprising player to come out of the Bromley Youth Academy because he was not expected to get this good….His development has been remarkable to watch, and he has pretty much forced his way into the first team….His main attribute is his stamina and physical ability, but the English central midfielder has shown a fantastic touch with the ball at his feet….He only appeared 4 times for the club, but in those few appearances he showcased a very well-rounded game.

Thomas Buus Andreasen, DC, 17 Years Old: The towering young Dane did not feature as much as he would have liked this season – only playing in 5 league games – but his potential is plain for everyone to see….He has all the right tools to be a top central defender; strength, pace, tackling ability, and fantastic defensive instincts….This isn’t even mentioning his already developed ability in the air….He was signed three seasons ago for £250k, an absolute bargain for someone of his talent….Jnoubi will definitely look to play him more next season.

Radim Bohac, SC, 15 Years Old: Has a 15 year old ever had such an impact in the history of football? He became both the youngest player in the history of the Premier League and its youngest goalscorer of all-time.…His finishing is already up there with the best, hence his 11 goals this season….He added 5 assists to go with his 7.03 AR, as well.…It is scary to think what can become of the young Czech, who scored 5 goals in his 2 U21 appearances for his nation this season….He cost Bromley only £1m, but if he continues to build on his potential, he will likely be worth ten times that come the end of next season.

Champions League

Review - Knockout StagesDream Team

Second Round

CSKA Moscow vs. Bayern Munich: Bayern Munich’s run ended in the Semi-Finals last year, and the German champions were looking to get back into the Finals for the first time since 2022. They got things off to a good start in Russia, defeating the Russian champions CSKA Moscow 3-1 in the first leg. The most dangerous team in Europe over the past ten years, Bayern Munich, then took a 2-1 win at home, advancing to the next round with relative ease. Bayern Munich: 5-2

Dortmund vs. Manchester United: In an exciting match in Germany, it was the away team Manchester United who scored a big 4-2 victory over the home side in the first leg. They did the job in the second leg, as well, defeating the Germans 2-1 in Old Trafford. Manchester United: 6-3

Barcelona vs. Inter Milan: Last year’s defeated Finalists Barcelona faced off against an Inter Milan side that 10th in the Serie A and struggling to keep it together. It was Inter Milan, however, who pulled off an incredible victory against Barcelona in Spain, defeating them 3-1 with Portuguese midfielder Goncalo Claro scoring a brace to help his club to an improbable victory. In the second leg in Italy, Inter Milan held on to a 2-2 draw that knocked out Barcelona and sent the Italians to the Quarter-Finals. Inter Milan: 5-3

Valencia vs. Wolfsburg: The defending Spanish La Liga champions could only take a 2-2 draw at home against the Bundesliga Runners-Up, with Zymer Bytyqi scoring a brace for the away side. Wolfsburg then took a 2-1 victory at home in Germany, sending the La Liga champions home and advancing past the Second Round, where they were knocked out last year by Porto. Valencia: 4-3

Monaco vs. Arsenal: The defending Champions League champions drew 1-1 away to Monaco in France during the first leg, but a 2-2 draw in London saw them knocked out of the competition. The Champions League was going to crown a new champion this year as Monaco advanced to the Quarter-Finals. Monaco: 3-3 (away goals)

Juventus vs. Paris Saint-Germain: The first leg in Turin was a drab affairs, as the Italian Serie A and French Ligue 1 champions drew 0-0 in Italy in the first leg. A 1-1 draw in Paris meant that Juventus would move on thanks to the away goal rule, with PSG disappointingly being knocked out in the Second Round. Juventus: 1-1 (away goals)

Porto vs. Bromley: The 2023 champions were one game away from heading to their second consecutive Finals appearance last year, losing in the Semi-Finals to the eventual champions Arsenal. The Portuguese champions hosted first timers Bromley this year, who were had advanced out of a tough Group E, ahead of the most decorated team of all-time in Real Madrid. Bromley shocked everyone by taking a 2-0 away win in Portugal, with Javier Zaballa and Martin Mannel scoring the first half goals. The second leg in London went even better for Bromley, as they came out 4-1 winners that saw the return of striker Laurie Jones, who scored a goal, from a broken foot that had ruled him out of the last four months of action. The first time Champions Leaguers were in the Quarter-Finals, and their striker Mannel was leading the competition with 7 assists heading into that stage. Bromley: 6-1

AC Milan vs. Chelsea: The Italians mustered up a 2-1 win at home against the Premier League champions, who were also the 2022 Champions League winners, but a Barrie Barlow hat-trick in the second leg in London inspired Chelsea to a strong 3-0 victory, eliminating the rich Italians from the competition. Chelsea: 5-1

Quarter-Finals

Bromley vs. Inter Milan: Bromley continued their surprising run through the Champions League – the first time the club had participated in the competition – and found itself matched up against an Inter Milan team that was surging after immense struggles during the first half of the season. Bromley had defeated Porto to get to this stage, while Inter Milan had shocked Barcelona, defeating them away in Spain. The first leg was in Milan, and it was the home squad that took a tough 2-1 victory thanks to last second goal that Bromley did not deserve to concede. In the second leg, Inter Milan sealed their qualification to the Semi-Finals with a 1-0 win in London, ending Bromley’s Cinderella story in the Quarter-Finals. Inter Milan: 3-1

Bayern Munich vs. Juventus: There has been some history been these two teams in recent years, having met in the Quarter-Finals in 2021, and in the Second Round in 2023 and 2017. Only in 2023 did Juventus defeat Bayern Munich, and they were hoping to make this time the second time. They did not get off to a good start in Germany during the first leg, however, as Bayern Munich defeated the defending Serie A champions convincingly 3-1. Even though Juventus won 2-1 at home in the second leg, it was not enough to turn the tie around, and Bayern Munich were back in the Semi-Finals yet again. Bayern Munich: 4-3

Monaco vs. Chelsea: These two teams met last year in the Europa League Second Round, with Chelsea advancing past the French side. This year, they were meeting in the Quarter-Finals of the Champions League, and it was Monaco that would come out with the better result after a 2-2 draw in London. The away goals would again factor in, and again it would be for Monaco’s advantage, as a 1-1 draw in France meant they were through to the Semi-Finals. Monaco: 3-3 (away goals)

Manchester United vs. Wolfsburg: The German side were to many a dark horse, one that could potentially see itself in the Finals and a dangerous team to face. They lived up to that billing, defeating Man United in the first leg in Germany 2-1, a result that flattered their opponents. The English team would leave nothing to chance in the second leg, however, defeating their opponents 3-1 to advance to the Semi-Finals. Manchester United: 4-3

Semi-Finals

Manchester United vs. Inter Milan: The former English champions traveled to Italy for the first leg, and ended up losing 4-2 in a highly entertaining match that saw the Serie A leading goalscorer Duvan Zapata score a hat-trick in a game where he simply could not be stopped. It looked like Inter Milan might make the Finals, but Manchester United’s two away goals were of vital importance, as they won 2-0 at home and advanced to the Finals on away goals. Manchester United: 4-4 (away goals)

Bayern Munich vs. Monaco: The only team in this year’s final four that made the Semi-Finals last year, Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski, who was a former World Player of the Year and now was 36 years old, brought back the years with a fantastic brace in his club’s 2-0 victory at home over Monaco. The damage caused in the first leg was enough, as a 1-1 draw in France ensured that Bayern were heading back to the Finals for the first time since 2022. Bayern Munich: 3-1

Finals

Stade Velodrome in Marseille, France was the location for Bayern Munich’s return to the Finals after a three year absence, having last reached the Finals against Chelsea in Madrid in 2022 – a match which they lost. The most dominant team in Europe during the 2010s, this was Bayern Munich’s fourth Finals appearance since 2020 – they had won two of the previous three. Manchester United, England’s most decorated team, had last seen the Finals in 2011, and was due for another appearance – they were seeking their fourth Champions League title while Bayern Munich seeking their tenth, second only to Real Madrid’s eleven. It was Bayern Munich that would finally add to the tally, scoring two goals at the tail end of each half, breaking Man United’s hearts and giving manager Laurent Blanc his third Champions League title with the club. Ahmed Abbas was named both the Champions League Top Goalscorer and its Best Player, leading the way to Bayern Munich’s tenth title.

English Premier League

ReviewTeam of the Season

It took Arsenal an incredible 21 years to finally capture the Premier League title, led by the fantastic play of Francisco Javier De Los Rios, Luke Pashley, and Aris Vrazanis. Arsenal’s De Los Rios was especially great, and one year after leading Arsenal to Champions League glory through his great play, he did the same in the Premier League, ranking second in both AR and assists. The club’s manager, Davide Diogini – who has been at the club since December 2020 – won the Manager of the Year award from the first time in his career. Arsenal had finished a lowly 5th Place the previous season, so the jump was quite remarkable, especially considering how much talent Manchester City (2nd) had at their disposal. The World Player of the Year and Premier League Footballer of the Year Tomas Diezma send a new record this season with 22 assists, while teammate Mariel Everton became the first player since Robin Van Persie in 2012 to score 30 goals in a season, winning the Top Goalscorer award for the second year in a row. Alfredo Cifuentas was Manchester United’s (3rd) best player, while the defending champions Chelsea (4th) just beat out Bromley (5th) for the last Champions League spot. Liverpool (6th) earned the last Europa League spot, beating out West Ham (7th) and Bristol Rovers (7th) to it. Tycoon owned Newcastle (10th) had a hugely disappointing season, but not more so than Tottenham (14th), who finished their lowest since 1998 and sacked their manager Pep Guardiola as a result.

French Ligue 1

ReviewTeam of the Season

For the third time in four years, Monaco beat Paris Saint-Germain (2nd), the defending champions, to the title, winning it back after a one year absence. A lot of it had to do with the performances for their £22m striker William, who was the league’s Top Goalscorer winner and had the second highest AR, and their 26 year old Brazilian GK Jorge Roberto, whose claim of being the best GK in the world only got stronger with his second Ligue 1 GK of the Year award. Paris Saint-Germain were led, as usual, by their Argentine talisman Hernan Olguin, who again led the league with 7.94 AR, and Ligue 1 Player of the Year for the first time, Marco Verratti. Lille (3rd) had their best finish in 13 years, grabbing the last Champions League spot, while Lyon (4th) and Marseille (5th) took the Europa League spots.

German Bundesliga

ReviewTeam of the Season

For the first time since 2016, Dortmund were crowned kings of the Bundesliga, led by the fantastic play of Franklin Oumarou. The French striker has been a bit of an afterthought in the global game the past few years, even though he is an absolute legend for his club and nation, whom he has scored 65 goals in 79 caps for in his career – an astounding return. They beat out Wolfsburg (2nd) and Gladbach (3rd) by the slimmest of margins – they were all tied on points with 63, but goal difference was what separated them. The former champions (and newly crowned Champions League winners) Bayern Munich (4th) took the last Champions League spot, led by Bundesliga Top Goalscorer Ahmed Abbas. Hannover (5th) and HSV (6th) took the Europa League spots, while German Footballer of the Year Josip Krsticevic saw his club Leverkusen (8th) underachieve and disappoint.

Italian Serie A

Review Team of the Season

AC Milan reclaimed the title after two years of seeing Juventus (2nd) lift the trophy, led by Top Goalscorer Pablo Ulloa, who netted 24 goals in leading his club to glory. He was named the Fans’ Player of the Year, while Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba won the Serie A Player of the Year for the second time in his career. Roma (3rd) took the last Champions League spot, while Napoli (4th) and Genoa (5th) took the Europa League spots.

Spanish La Liga

ReviewTeam of the Season

Valencia (2nd) could not repeat as champions after winning their first one in twenty years, despite the performances of Top Goalscorer Dioni. Instead, it was Real Madrid who won their third title in four years, led by their superstar and legend Isco, who was named the La Liga Player of the Year for the third time in his career. Atletico Madrid (3rd) finished strong on the performances of their midfielder Vitinho, who set a La Liga record with 23 assists. The last Champions League spot went to Granada (4th), and Sevilla (5th) and Vallodolid (6th) capturing the Europa League spots. Incredibly, giants Barcelona (8th) did not qualify to Europe, and had their worst finish in 82 years!

Great carrier abulezz. Been following your threads for a while but never posted. Couple of quick questions, how do you fire through your seasons so fast? And what leagues do you have loaded? And if you mind what spec is the PC you play on? And also whatever happened to your player Marcio? He just seemed to disappear. Cheers :)

Another decent season.

Thanks Nobby! And thanks for always reading!

Hi Murrayzoster - to answer your questions: I generally don't go so fast, but I update in quick succession because I prepare the updates as I go, I just don't always have time to upload them! I have most of the leagues loaded, atleast down to their Second Divisions - the English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish are loaded to the lowest levels. My laptop is actually a Sager - pretty high specs: 32G RAM, SATA 3 HDD, 2.8 GHZ I7, 880M Nvidia. And finally, I sold Marcio a couple of years after I bought him, here is his current stats and how his career went! Marcio - Career Stats

PREMIER LEAGUE: Bromley’s Premier League season started out a little bit inconsistent through the first three months, but a fifteen game winning streak from January onwards saw the club enter the last day of the season in dramatic fashion – they were up against champions Arsenal, and if they won, they would take the title. As it would have, a 16 year old star was born in Radim Bohac, who scored a brace for his squad as Bromley defeated Arsenal 2-0, getting crowned Premier League champions for the first time in the club’s history. Truth be told, while Bromley were relatively impressive this season, their main competitors for the title were all having relatively inconsistent seasons. If teams such as Manchester City and Arsenal were at their best, it would have been tough to see Bromley crack the top three, but as it would have it, the London club took the title and was grateful for it.

DOMESTIC CUPS: Once again, Bromley saw an exit in the Capital One Cup Third Round, this time against Liverpool away from home. They did fare better in the FA Cup this year, though, making it to the FA Cup 6th Round before being knocked out Huddersfield away from home. Along the way, they defeated Liverpool, Burnley, and Southend before finally falling.

EUROPEAN CUPS: After making the Champions League Quarter-Finals last season, Bromley found itself back in the Europa League. It was a relatively rough start in Group E for the club as they drew against Napoli and Sevilla, but they managed to qualify top of the group after winning three of their next four, only dropping points to Napoli in a draw away from home. Bromley the won both of its games against Vitesse in the First Knockout Round and both of its games against Anderlecht in the Second Knockout Round, before falling to Genoa in the Quarter-Finals, losing away from home and drawing in London.

TRANSFERS

This season saw a lot of prominent players in the club’s ranks leave, led by three time Young Player of the Year Ivano Rizzo, who was sold to Arsenal for a club record £32m. Manchester City acquired Christian Tshibasu for £25m, and although both players can be considered current and future stars, the money Bromley received for them was a very good return. Elsewhere, Ignacio Veloso left the club for £2.5m to play with Bristol Rovers – out of all the transfers out, Veloso was perhaps the heaviest to take as he had been with the club since 2017 and was a leader figure for it. Bromley also cut its losses on Jose Manuel Planas, selling him to Sevilla for £5m three years after buying the 20 year old central defender from Barcelona for £4.8m. He simply was not developing the way Jnoubi had hoped and his sale was seen as a positive because it created opportunities for more talented players to come through. Coming in, the only transfer of note was Jorge Anton, whom many thought Bromley grossly overpaid Barcelona for at £16.25m. Given his young age, only time will tell if it was a good move, but he has a lot to live up to.

PLAYER ANALYSIS

GOALKEEPERS

Jeferson, GK, 26 Years Old: He started the season in bad form, but got better as the season progressed….He finished the season having played 31 games, registering a career best 1.39 Con/90 and 6.80 AR….Still, one gets the feeling the Premier League champions should have better between the sticks….Just not reliable enough, and has not shown anything to prove that he will improve past what he already is….Jnoubi remains reluctant to replace him, however, as he completed his sixth full season with the club.

DEFENDERS

Aitor Coll, DL, 21 Years Old: Three years after being acquired from Barcelona for £10m, the Spanish left back is beginning to look like he has not been worth the money….He was once considered the answer to Bromley’s problem at left back, but after this season, he looks like the club’s most problematic position historically will continue to be so for the foreseeable future….In 31 appearances, he registered 4.03 TpG and 6.78 AR – hardly decent numbers….Still, he is young and perhaps he can come to in his fourth season with the club because he certainly possesses the right ability and talent.

Aaron Owens, DC, 20 Years Old: The future of England at the central defender position? A lot of people seem to believe so….It is hard to believe he only cost Bromley £400k from Middlesbrough in 2021….This season was his fourth as a full-time starter for the club, and his best yet….In 31 games, he registered 6 goals, 2.09 TpG, 437 Interceptions (2nd most in the Premier League), and a 7.26 AR….He actually led the league in interceptions in the 2024/25 season….One of England’s brightest young prospects regardless of position….Has become extremely vital to the success of the club as a whole, and the league title would not have been possible without his contributions and consistency….His season was capped and validated with his first selection to the Premier League Select.

Genaro Domingues, DC, 19 Years Old: In Jnoubi’s rotation as partner for Owens in the center of the defensive line, the Brazilian showed great improvement in his ability throughout the year….Only played in 18 games, registering 3.36 TpG and 6.81 AR….Great defensive instincts, but not much of a threat going forward….It is still up in the air who Jnoubi’s preferred choice is, but Domingues is certainly in the running….If he can continue to show the kind of improvement he did this season, he certainly would make a strong case to the squad’s permanent starter.

Hatim Aarab, DR, 22 Years Old: He continues to be Bromley’s most polarizing player….His ability and talent is world-class, but too many times he underwhelms with his performances….In 30 games, he registered 3.23 TpG and a 6.99 AR – almost identical numbers to his two previous seasons….Nonetheless, Jnoubi rejected offers for approximately £20m for the player, so he obviously still believes there is more to come from the French right back….As the season came to close, the club opened up discussions with him for a new contract.

Jorge Anton , DRC, 19 Years Old: Perhaps Jnoubi’s most questionable signing since taking over the club in 2013….He cost a staggering £16.25m yet plays a position that is already very deep in talent for the club….Still, the manager must have seen something, because he paid Barcelona that huge sum in order to have him at the club….Still very young and raw, he did show talent – in 16 appearances, he registered 2 goals, 2 assists, 3.02 TpG, and a 7.01 AR….Is also capable of playing right back, showcasing versatility even at his young age….The belief is that he can develop in the same way Owens did, and so far the signs are positive.

Duncan Head, DLC, 20 Years Old: A Bromley Youth Academy product that proved his worth to the club this season….Able to play at both the central defender and left back positions, he impressed at both this season….In 21 games, he registered 2 goals, 3.09 TpG, and a 7.11 AR….Given his reliability this season, he has earned the right to be part of the squad rotation, and joins an ever growing list of Bromley Youth Academy graduates who have made it to the first team.

Thomas Buus Andreasen, DC, 18 Years Old: Has always teased with his potential, but this was the first season since joining the club in 2023 that he showcased it on the field for extended periods….He played in 16 games, registering 2 goals, 4.25 TpG, and a 7.07 AR….The Dane is perhaps the front-runner to be Owens main partner in the defensive line next season, and there are little who doubt he will be capable of handling the task of being a starter for the new Premier League champions….He is already being touted as potentially one of the best at his position in the league.

MIDFIELDERS

Javier Zaballa, ML, 22 Years Old: Three separate injuries ruled out the French left winger for a total of three months this season, limiting him to only 24 games….He still registered 7 goals, 10 assists, 5 PoMs, and a 7.17 AR….This was his seventh season with the club since joining them for a mind-boggling £11k from Genets Anglet….Is now the undisputed starting left winger for the club after the sale of Tshibasu, and has developed into one of the finest at his position in the entire league….Easily one of the club’s most important players at this stage, he will be hoping for an injury-free season next and hopefully build on what is becoming an impressive career.

Todd Wellman, MC, 21 Years Old: Bromley’s most disappointing player this season, Jnoubi has already begun looking for alternatives to his French central midfielder….In his fourth year with the club, he played in 26 games and registered only 3 assists and a 6.80 AR….His performances are consistently underwhelming, and that is only highlighted further by how well Andresen does next to him in the formation….He has shown little improvement in his ability since joining the club, and does not appear to be the right fit for the club anymore….It is rumored that Jnoubi is looking for buyers for the player, so it would not be a surprise to see his starting central midfielder offloaded before next season starts.

Nikolaj Andresen, MC, 23 Years Old: Another career year from a player that is fast becoming one of the best central midfielders in the world….For the second straight season, he was picked to the Premier League Select….In 33 appearances, he registered 6 goals, 17 assists (2nd most in the league), 4 PoMs, and a 7.41 AR (4th most in the league)….He can add Premier League champion to a growing list of accolades….The current Danish Player of the Year, he has become his nation’s most important and best performing player….He has also become arguably Bromley’s most influential player, and has such been appointed the club’s vice-captain.

Johannes Meichelbeck, MR, 19 Years Old: After the season the German had, it is not understandable why Jnoubi accepted the bid for £32m that sent Ivano Rizzo to Arsenal….While Rizzo is a better player at this point, the difference in talent is not worth the amount paid for him….In 35 appearances, she registered 8 goals, 12 assists, 3.14 DpG, and a 7.06 AR….His pace rivals his predecessor, although he still has ways to go in terms of his ability with the ball at his feet….In his first international cap with his national teal, he scored an impressive two goals….His acquisition from Freiburg for £9.5m last year was questioned by some, but there is no doubt about the quality of the player anymore.

Kenny Robinson, MRC, 19 Years Old:

Alfie Clark, MC, 18 Years Old: Perhaps the unlikeliest player in the first team, Alfie Clark is threatening to become a starter for the club….He played in 14 games, registering 3 assists, 1.82 TpG, and a 6.86 AR….His most impressive trait is his physical ability – he is very strong with great stamina, two traits that have aided his development….Jnoubi will look feature him more prominently next season.

FORWARDS

Laurie Jones, SC, 24 Years Old: With so much young talent in the Bromley frontline, the club captain can no longer be considered the most important player in the club’s lineup….Nevertheless, in the locker room, the club legend remains the most influential figure Jnoubi has, and he remains one of their better players on the pitch….He finally declared for Wales, and subsequently got 3 caps for his nation throughout the season….For his club, in 30 games he registered 13 goals, 6 assists, and a 6.93 AR….He remains the club’s all-time leading goalscorer with 110 goals, and second in all-time appearances with 277, behind only Elliot Rudd’s 327 appearances.

Martin Mannel, SC, 19 Years Old: He was voted to the Premier League Select just days before his 20th birthday….He deserved it, as he registered 21 goals (3rd in the League), 12 assists, and 7.35 AR in 32 games….The young German’s third season with the club after joining from Leverkusen for £15m was similar to his second, with the difference of course being the Premier League title….He is now considered one of the best strikers in the Premier League and one of the finest young strikers in the world….The only knack has been his relative slow improvement in ability – he is pretty much the same player Jnoubi bought three years ago.

ONES TO WATCH

Diego Toro, MC, 18 Years Old: Already a Chilean international, he came to Bromley during the January window for £625k….Did not really get a chance to showcase his ability, but his technical skill is well known….He was playing for Universidad de Chile before joining the club, and had done reasonably well….In a crowded central midfield for Bromley, Toro should begin showing his worth next season as he becomes more comfortable with the English game.

Radim Bohac, SC, 16 Years Old: His incredible achievements before his 17th birthday continued till the very last day of the season, when his brace against Arsenal won Bromley the Premier League title….The Czech was one of the best strikers in the league despite his age, scoring 18 goals and registering 10 assists and 7.15 AR in 35 games….His performances this season, as well as his improvement in his abilities, could see him become one of the finest players in the world before long….He is easily one of the most sought after prospects in all of football….The fact that he cost Jnoubi just £1m looks like downright criminal theft at this point….There was worry about his pace and physical abilities, but that has since disappeared….Even as early as next year, he could become one of the stars of world football.

Champions League

Review - Knockout StagesDream Team

Second Round

Valencia vs. Bayern Munich: The defending champions needed a last second goal to win the first match 1-0 at home in the first leg, but they had no such luck in the second leg. Instead, Valencia gave Bayern Munich one of their worst defeats in their history, winning 7-2 with Jadson scoring an incredible four goals to defeat all the odds and advance to the next round and the expense of the champions. Valencia: 7-3

Manchester City vs. Atletico Madrid: Although Man City were the favorites at home in the first leg, few expected the 6-1 defeat they lay on their Spanish opponents. Atletico could only muster up a 1-1 draw at home in the second leg, leaving Man City to advance quite easily and dominantly to the Quarter-Finals. Manchester City: 7-2

Chelsea vs. Juventus: A tight game that was settled in the last minute, it was the home side Chelsea that took a tough 2-1 victory in the first leg. The second leg in Italy was a battle, as well, and it was Chelsea that advanced to the next stage after holding their opponents to a 1-1 draw in Turin. Cheslea: 3-2

Granada vs. Manchester United: One of the most entertaining games in recent Champions League history, the home side Granada took the first leg with a 5-3 victory. Man United showed the difference in class, however, with a huge 5-0 victory at Old Trafford in the second leg, advancing to the Quarter-Finals in grand fashion. Manchester United: 8-5

Porto vs. Dortmund: The 2023 champions were impressive in the first leg at home, defeating the German Bundesliga champions 4-2 in an entertaining game. A 3-2 result for Dortmund at home could not turn the result around, and the Portuguese champions advanced to the next round. Porto: 6-5

Paris Saint-Germain vs. Arsenal: In a matchup that pitted the Premier League champions against the biggest team in France, it was an even affair in France in the first leg as they fought to a 2-2 result. The second leg was a one-sided affair, however, as Arsenal defeated PSG 3-0 at home in London. Arsenal: 5-2

CSKA Moscow vs. AC Milan: The Russians could not grab a home win against the Serie A champions in the first leg – instead, AC Milan went into the second leg with a 3-2 away win. In Milan, the home side took a 4-2 victory to complete their rout of CSKA Moscow and advance to the Quarter-Finals. AC Milan: 7-4

Real Madrid vs. Ajax: It was a straight forward affair for the La Liga champions, who took a 3-0 victory at home in the first leg against the Dutch side. Away in Amsterdam, the Spanish champions defeated Ajax 3-2 to seal their advancement to the next round. Real Madrid: 6-2

Quarter-Finals

AC Milan vs. Chelsea: AC Milan signaled their intent with a 3-1 victory at home against their English opponents in the first leg, and earned a respectable 1-1 draw in the second leg in London to advance to the Semi-Finals. AC Milan: 4-2

Real Madrid vs. Manchester United: The historical juggernauts collided in this matchup, and it was the home side who won 2-0 in Spain in the first leg, but Man United countered with a 2-0 result at the end of 90 minutes in the second leg. In extra-time, the English side managed to find the goal, winning 3-0 and pushing past the La Liga champions into the Semi-Finals. Manchester United: 3-2

Porto vs. Valencia: The Spanish side were high flying scorers in the Second Round, but Porto managed to subdue them at home in the first leg, defeating them 1-0 and not allowing them to score. There was no such hope in the second leg, however, as Jadson once again was the hero – this time, he scored a hat-trick as Valencia defeated Porto 4-0. Valencia: 4-1

Arsenal vs. Manchester City: The All-English draw pitted the current champions against the former ones, and in Manchester in the first leg, it was a tough 2-2 draw. In London, however, Arsenal did the job, winning 3-1 and earning the right to play in the Semi-Finals. Arsenal: 5-3

Semi-Finals

Manchester United vs. Arsenal: The Premier League champions Arsenal were involved in their second straight all-Premier League tie, and Manchester United were looking to end their run in the Semi-Finals. This was Arsenal’s tie from the get-go as they took a 2-1 victory away at Old Trafford in the first leg, and followed that up with a huge 4-1 win at home in the second leg to advance. Arsenal: 6-2

AC Milan vs. Valencia: The first matchup in decades between the two teams, the first leg took place in Italy and it ended in a 1-1 draw that was in favor of the Spanish side. In the second leg in Valencia, it was the Italians who would win out, however, taking a big 2-1 win that saw them advance to the Finals. AC Milan: 3-2

Finals

The Olympiastadion played host to the 2026 Champions League Finals between Arsenal vs. AC Milan – the former were participating in the second Finals in three years while AC Milan were playing in their first since 2007. Arsenal were going after their second title in their history, while AC Milan was seeking its 8th – third only to Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. It was Arsenal that would win, however, with a tough 1-0 victory that had many claiming their current line-up to be second only to Bayern Munich’s dynasty in the past twenty years – before that, there was Barcelona. Arsenal midfielder Asier Anduenza won the Best Player award thanks to his 6 goals, 3 assists, and 7.56 AR, while Manchester United’s Alfredo Cifuentes won the Top Goalscorer with 12 goals – the most of any player since Fernando Llorente scored the same amount for Juventus in 2013/14.

English Premier League

ReviewTeam of the Season

Bromley shocked the world as they lifted the Premier League trophy on the final day of the season against Arsenal (2nd), whom they were tied on points with. The youngest side to ever win the title, they were led by Nikolaj Andresen in the midfield, 20 year old Martin Mannel up front, and 20 year old Aaron Owens in the back. The defending champions Arsenal were once again led by Luke Pashley, who was second in the league in goals, and Footballer of the Year Francisco Javier De Los Rios, who broke the Premier League assist record with 22 assists and was crowned the Premier League Footballer of the Year. Manchester City (3rd) had Players’ Player of the Year Mariel Everton, whose 36 goals became a record in the Premier League era for most goals scored in a single season, and he also equaled Sergio Aguero’s record of 12 PoMs. Chelsea (4th) grabbed the last Champions League spot, with Newcastle (5th) and West Ham (6th) beating out Manchester United (7th) for the Europa League spots in what has become the most competitive domestic league in the world.

French Ligue 1

ReviewTeam of the Season

Paris Saint-Germain once again unseated defending champions Monaco (2nd) to win the Ligue 1 title – their second title in five years. Both Hernan Olguin and Marco Verratti had record-breaking seasons – the former set new Ligue 1 records with 8.07 AR and 14 PoMs enroute to this his third Star of the Season award, while the latter set a new Ligue 1 record with 22 assists. The Ligue 1 Best Player, for the first time in his career, was Lyon’s (4th) Juan Francisco Quiles, who rivaled Olguin throughout the season as the league’s most in-form player. The last Champions League spot went to Marseille (3rd), who were a distant third in terms of form to PSG and Monaco. Valenciennes (5th) has the two top scorers in the league, with Sebastian Vidal being crowned the Ligue 1 Top Goalscorer.

German Bundesliga

ReviewTeam of the Season

For the second straight season, Dortmund won the Bundesliga, this time by a sizable margin – the difference between them and Bayern Munich (2nd) was twelve points. Dortmund was again led by Franklin Oumarou, whose 22 goals made him the Top Goalscorer for the first time in his career and catapulted him to superstar status, and the new Bundesliga Footballer of the Year Nicki Damsgaard. Bayern Munich’s season was led by Ahmed Abbas, the greatest ever footballer to come out of Saudi Arabia, while Gladbach (3rd) and Hannover (4th) surprised many by grabbing the last two Champions League spots. Leverkusen (5th) and Wolfsburg (6th), who dropped from third place, sealed the Europa League spots.

Italian Serie A

Review Team of the Season

For the first time in five years, Inter Milan won the Serie A title, and featured quite an impressive team in doing so. The club’s Portuguese midfielder Goncalo Claro won the Serie A Player of the Year award, while Neto won the Defender of the Year award and was arguably the most influential player in the league this season. The defending champions AC Milan (3rd) faltered despite good seasons from Edenilson, who led the league in AR, and Pablo Ulloa, who was second in goals scored – they finished behind over-achieving Napoli (2nd), who had no standout perfomer but exceptional teamplay. Juventus (4th), Lazio (5th), and Sampdoria (6th), who featured Top Goalscorer Luke James in their squad, qualified to the Europa League.

Spanish La Liga

ReviewTeam of the Season

For the second straight year and for the fourth time in five years, Real Madrid won the La Liga title, this time on the back of Emiliano Perez and his 21 goals, the third highest in the league. They just edged out Valencia (2nd) on goal difference, as the 2024 champions were heartbroken to have missed out on the chance to add another trophy. Valencia’s main talent this season was, once again, Dioni, who was the Top Spanish Goalscorer with 19 goals. In terms of individual brilliance, Atletico Madrid (3rd) – who only finished two points behind the champions – were stocked, with La Liga Player of the Year Vitinho and Renatinho, who led the league in AR, both featuring for the club. Granada (4th) won the last Champions League spot, beating out Barcelona (5th), who continue their rebuilding process. Sevilla (6th) won the last Europa League spot, while Real Sociedad (7th) featured the Top Goalscorer Neal Maupay.

World Cup 2026 - MEXICO

Overview - Knockout Stages - Player Stats - Dream Team

GROUP A

Mexico topped Group A, advancing to the Second Round of the tournament for the second straight time, with Juan Manuel Garcia being their best player having scored a goal and registered 2 assists and a 7.77 AR. Portugal joined the hosts after being absent the last World Cup, while Peru and Saudi Arabia – as predicted – both went home early, with the latter losing all their matches in their first World Cup participating this century.

GROUP B

A competitive group was won by 2024 European Championship winners France, who defeated all three of their opponents while conceding only two goals. The Group Stages star for the French side was undoubtedly Yassine Benzia, who registered 2 goals, 2 assists, 2 PoMs, and a 7.80 AR for his nation in their first three games. They were joined by Iran, who qualified to the Second Round for the first time in their history. Switzerland, who were Quarter-Finalists the last two World Cups, disappointingly crashed out. In last place was Uruguay, who failed to qualify from the Group Stages for the third consecutive World Cup after reaching the Semi-Finals in 2014.

GROUP C

To the surprise of no one, Argentina – the 2018 World Cup champions – won all three of their games to qualify top of the group, led by the fantastic play of both Kevin Olivera and Diego Paz, both of whom scored 4 goals each. After the disappointing of Qatar 2022, which saw them crash out in the Second Round to Croatia, the Argentines looked poised to overcome their disappointment. They were joined by the USA, who advanced to the Quarter-Finals in 2018 but could not get out of the Group Stages in 2022. Tunisia and Scotland both went out, with the latter being especially unimpressive by gaining only a single point in their campaign.

GROUP D

After crashing out in 2022, Spain – the best team in the world during the late 2000s and early 2010s – made it back to the Second Round topping the group despite losing to Belgium 3-1. Incidentally, that was the only match the Belgians won, drawing the two others, but it was enough for them to advance alongside the Spanish. The 2014 Semi-Finalists and 2020 European Championship Finalists looked very underwhelming, but still managed to get past Ghana and Canada. The Spanish striker Alfredo Cifuentes was one of the top goalscorers in the Group Stages with 3 goals.

GROUP E

The 2014 champions Germany were perhaps the most impressive team in the Group Stages, scoring 11 goals and conceding only 1 as they won all three of their matches. Granted, they were drawn in a weak group on paper, but the brilliance of players such as Manchester City superstar striker Pawel Nuckowski, who scored 2 goals and registered 2 assists and an 8.27 AR, were impressive nonetheless. They were joined by Russia in the Second Round – the Euro 2020 champions advanced to the Second Round for the third consecutive time. South Africa and Uzbekistan lived up to their expectation as Group Stages fodder, failing to make any kind of impression.

GROUP F

Brazil were outstanding in the Group Stages, winning all three of their matches, scoring 10 goals and conceding none. William, Monaco and Brazil striker, scored 4 goals to lead his nation into the Second Round, the same round they were eliminated from in 2022. Ivory Coast, who made it to the Second Round the previous two World Cups and have never made it past that stage, joined Brazil to try their luck for the third straight time, while Georgia and Honduras were eliminated.

GROUP G

What was supposed to be a competitive group between equal teams ended up being quite anti-climactic – 2022 Finalists Ukraine topped the group with 7 points, while Croatia, who had made the Quarter-Finals the last two World Cups, also had 7 points and advanced to the Second Round led by the play of Mateo Bacic. Nigeria, who were eliminated in the Second Round of Qatar 2022 by Croatia, and Jamaica were both underwhelming, gaining just one point each on their way out.

GROUP H

World Champions England lived up to their billing by topping the group, led by the spectacular play of Luke Pashley, who scored 3 goals and had 2 PoMs and a 7.73 AR in the Group Stages. England were joined by Turkey, who lost to the Ukraine in the Quarter-Finals of Qatar 2022. The two teams eliminated, unsurprisingly, were Japan and Venezuela.

Second Round

MEXICO vs IRAN: 1 – 0 – The Mexicans were clear favorites to advance to the Quarter-Finals for the first time since 1986, and although it was a tough match with the Iranians, they ended up scoring the only goal of the game in the 60th minute to take – and keep – the lead. The PoM Nazardardeh, Iran’s central midfielder, had the distinction of also being sent off in the dying seconds of the match, as Iran’s first venture into the Knockout Rounds of the World Cup ended abruptly. POM: Jalal Nazardardeh, Iran (7.5)

FRANCE vs PORTUGAL: 4 – 0 - By the time Portugal saw a red card in the 77th minute, the Euro 2024 champions had already taken a four goal lead and looked comfortable in their rout of the Portuguese. With four different goalscorers, France showed a very balance attack that their opponents could not handle. Central midfielder and Juventus player Paul Pogba was the star of the French team, directing traffic in the middle of pitch and registering an assist, while Yassine Benzia added to his tally to make it 3 goals. POM: Paul Pogba, France (9.1)

SPAIN vs USA: 2 – 0 - In what was a straight forward affair for the 2010 champions, Spain took a comfortable 2-0 victory over their North American opponents to continue their trek back to the heights they reached almost twenty years back. The goals both came in the second half after a stubborn American defense held tight for 75 minutes, but Alfredo Cifuentes’ 4th goal of the World Cup was enough to break them. POM: Asier Andueza, Spain (7.6)

ARGENTINA vs BELGIUM: 2 – 0 - Belgium saw heartbreak against Turkey in 2022, and they felt it again this time around against Argentina, as the South Americans scored two extra-time goals to finally put an end to the match. The result was 0-0 after ninety minutes, but the brilliance of Paris Saint-Germain’s £23m man Olivera was the separated the two teams. The striker scored a brace, with the goals just two minutes apart, to advance the 2018 champions past Second Round – the same phase they saw defeat in during Qatar 2022. Olivera now had 6 goals in 4 games, with a sensational 8.30 AR, going into the Quarter-Finals. POM: Kevin Olivera, Argentina (8.8)

BRAZIL vs RUSSIA: 1 – 0 - Brazil is usually known for his high-octane offense, but this World Cup, it was their defense that saw them advance to the Quarter-Finals. In their first four matches, the Brazilians conceded no goals, and their star from the Group Stages, William, scored the only goal of the match to give his nation the win. The defensive effort was led by Inter Milan star Neto, who now had a 7.78 AR through Brazil’s first four matches, while William now had 5 goals. POM: Neto, Brazil (7.5)

GERMANY vs IVORY COAST: 2 – 0 - In a tough match against their West African opponents, the Germans found their hero in the unlikeliest of place – it was left back Klaus Fengler who scored both German goals in the second half, giving his nation the victory. The 24 year old left-back now had an 8.60 AR and was one of the best performing players in the World Cup thus far, and Germany advanced to the Quarter-Finals once again. POM: Klaus Fengler, Germany (8.9)

ENGLAND vs CROATIA: 2 – 0 – In a rematch of the 2018 Quarter-Finals matchup between the two sides in which England won, the World Champions went up against a Croatian team that was Quarter-Finalists during the past two World Cups, losing both matches in heart-breaking circumstances. They would not get to that stage this time around, however, as England defeated again – this time, a brace from Luke Pashley gave England a 2-0 victory to bring his total up to 5 goals and 3 PoMs, as well as a 8.00 AR, this tournament thus far. POM: Luke Pashley, England (8.8)

UKRAINE vs TURKEY: 2 – 1 - The recent history between these two sides was prominent – during Qatar 2022, it was the Ukrainians who knocked out Turkey in the Quarter-Finals, but during Euro 2024 in Spain, Turkey took their revenge by knocking out Ukraine in the Second Round of the competition. It was the 2022 Finalists’ turn this time, though, as the Ukrainians defeated Turkey 2-1 as Dnipro striker Nikolay Petrov scored a brace in the second half to advance his nation to the Quarter-Finals. POM: Nikolay Petrov, Ukraine (8.8)

Quarter-Finals

FRANCE vs ARGENTINA: 1 – 0 - The two teams met in the Group Stages of Qatar 2022 and at the Confederations Cup in 2025, with France coming out as a winner in both matches. Both teams had also won all their matches leading up to their Quarter-Finals battle under similar circumstances – lots of offensive firepower with suspect defending. The match itself was the exact opposite – it was ugly and lacking in flair. France were the scorers of the only goal, and they maintained their 1-0 victory thanks to the heroics of their GK, who remarkably was playing in his very first match for France. The European champions knocked out the South American champions and advanced to the Semi-Finals of the World Cup for the second consecutive time. POM: Junior Shungu, France (7.7)

SPAIN vs MEXICO: 3 – 0 - The only previous recent meeting between the two teams was a 2-2 draw in the Group Stages of Qatar 2022. Mexico entered the match having not conceded a single goal in the World Cup, while Spain lost in their toughest against Belgium. It was expected to be a very close match, but Spain surprised many with their efficient and ruthless attack, taking a 3-0 win thanks to Michael Laudrup’s – Spain’s coach – tactical changes. Typically a right back for his club Real Madrid, Inaki Larrinaga was deployed in the center of the pitch, and he went on to give his team an assist and goal and win the PoM. More importantly, Spain advanced to the Semi-Finals for the first time since 2014. POM: Inaki Larrinaga, Spain (8.5)

UKRAINE vs BRAZIL: 2 – 0 - The only previous meeting between these two teams was in the Group Stages during Brazil 2014, which the then-hosts won 1-0. The Brazilians had been excellent going into the match, having not conceded a single goal yet in the tournament and scored a fantastic 11 goals. Ukraine had also done well, winning three of their matches and only drawing one, but a lot of people still considered Ukraine’s 2022 run to the Finals a one off thing and not the emergence of a new footballing power. Those naysayers were nowhere to be found in Monterrey after they defeated Brazil, one of the favorites, 2-0 in a convincing manner. Nikolay Petrov scored his fifth goal of the tournament and now had a 7.70 AR, but the real star on the day was 28 year old Shakhtar midfielder Sergiy Aleksanov, who scored his first goal of the tournament and bossed the Brazilian midfield around all game long, winning the game’s PoM along the way. POM: Sergiy Aleksanov, Ukraine (9.0)

GERMANY vs ENGLAND: 3 – 0 - The history between Germany and England has always been a long one, but they had not faced each other in recent times. In fact, the last time they had faced each other was ten years ago, in the Group Stages of Euro 2016, where they fought it out to a 1-1 draw. The current World Champions England drew their first game against Turkey, but had won their next three without conceding a single goal, while the 2014 champions Germany had scored a tournament high 13 goals thus far and conceded only 1 goal in their four victories. England would not get the chance to repeat as champions as they ran into the German brick wall in Mexico City, and on the other end Germany were equally great as Christian Nagel scored a brace and won the PoM, bringing his tally up to 5 goals this tournament to go with his 7.90 AR. POM: Christian Nagel, Germany (9.2)

Semi-Finals

SPAIN vs UKRAINE: 1 – 0 Ukraine’s star leading up to their Semi-Finals encounter with Spain was Nikolay Petrov, whose led his nation with 5 goals, 2 PoMs, and a 7.78 AR. The 27 year old stiker had spent his entire career at Dnipro and had never been their most consistent player, but his emergence in the World Cup showed what he could be capable of. For Spain, they did not have any standout performers, but instead were reliant on a team effort. Players like Alfredo Cifuentes, who had a team high 4 goals, and Tomas Diezma, the former World Footballer of the Year who led the team with 4 assists, were doing a great job of delivering. The match itself was a cagey affair, but it would not be two straight Finals for the Ukrainians, who lost 1-0 to a Spanish team that saw its return to the Finals twelve years after its last appearance. The goal was scored in the 11th minute by Manchester City striker Robert Barandiaran, a rotation player at best for his club who was making his first appearance in the tournament. The star, however, was AC Milan’s much scrutinized £55m man Jose Angel – the 24 year old was very poised in the midfield and led the line as Spain advanced to the Finals of Mexico 2026. POM: Jose Angel, Spain (7.5)

FRANCE vs GERMANY: 3 – 2 France had only conceded 2 goals in their run to the Semi-Finals, but the European champions’ star was Yassine Benzia, who had a team-high 3 goals and 3 assists. Their best overall player, howeer, was Juventus legend Paul Pogba, who had a team-high 8.30 AR, which was also one of the highest in the tournament. For the Germans, they had scored a tournament best 16 goals in their 5 matches thus far, conceding only a single goal. They had won all their matches, with Christian Nagel scoring 5 goals and fellow striker Pawel Nuckowski leading the team with a 7.98 AR. It was a highly entertaining match in which both Benzia and Nagel scored, but the star was Jean-Christophe Bouvier, France’s goalscorer against Argentina, who netted a brace to give France the huge 3-2 win. SPAIN vs FRANCE: 2 - 1 - Mexico City would play host to the European Champions France and the most dominant team in the late 2000s and early 2010s Spain, both of whom had won the World Cup once in their history. The only previous recent meeting by the two sides was at Euro 2020 in Turkey, where Spain defeated France in the Group Stages. This was both countries’ third Finals appearances, as both had won once and lost once in the Finals. It was Spain’s stars throughout the tournament, Alfredo Cifuentes and Asier Andueza, who scored both goals for Spain as they defeated France 2-1. The French goal came from Yassine Benzia yet again, but it was not meant to be. Spain won their second ever World Cup, sixteen years after their first, thanks to some fantastic teamplay and great midfield presence. Spain was now officially experiencing its second Golden Generation, led by their Danish manager Michael Laudrup. POM: Asier Andueza, Spain (8.3)

Awards

BEST PLAYER: Yassine Benzia – He almost single-handedly lifted France to the title, instead falling at the last hurdle in the Finals against Spain. Even then, he scored their only goal in the Finals, bringing his tally to 5 goals, 4 assists, and a 7.77 AR. The 31 year old Lyon striker was not predicted to make much of an impact prior to the tournament, but he ended up being the most influential player on his team and the best overall performer overall.

BEST YOUNG PLAYER: Inaki Larrinaga – The youngest member of the World Cup winning squad, the 21 year old was also high influential. The midfielder was a constant presence in the center of the pitch, and he played in all of Spain’s 7 games, registering a 7.19 AR.

BEST GOALKEEPER: Davide De Gea – Still Spain’s No.1 GK after all these years, De Gea can now lay claim to be part of a Spanish Golden Generation, something which he was denied during their domination of the global game in the late 2000s and early 2010s. Out the 7 games, De Gea kept 2 clean sheets as he won his second World Cup Best GK award, equaling a record held by his Spanish predecessor Iker Casillas. Four of the last five Best GK award have now gone to a Spanish GK.

TOP GOALSCORER: Kevin Olivera – By way of having played less games than German striker Christian Nagel, who also scored 6 goals, Olivera became the second consecutive Argentinean to win the Golden Boot award, with Diego Paz having won it last time around.

2026/27 PREVIEW

Team Analysis

Lots of changes have happened to the squad over the past two years, with several important players moving on thanks to some big money offers received by Bromley for them. The summer of 2025 saw Ivano Rizzo leave to Arsenal for £32m, and in January 2026 it was Christian Tshibasu who moved to Manchester City for £25m. The summer of 2026 was an extremely busy one, as well, with Johannes Meichelbeck – Bromley’s 19 year old German who replaced Rizzo as the squad’s starting right winger – left to Real Madrid for a record £35m. He was joined at Real Madrid by the club’s frustrating but talented starting right back, Hatim Aarab, who joined the club for £22.5m, while Genaro Domingues was bought by Wolfsburg for £15m. Combine that with the exits of first team rotation players such as Todd Wellman (£5m to West Ham) and Jose Planas (£5m to Sevilla) and there was a lot of changes happening. As it was, however, Bromley managed to pull together and win the Premier League title for the first time in their history in 2025/26, but with the exits of Meichelback, Aarab, Domingues, and Wellman during the summer – all major contributors to the title winning campaign – Kafra Jnoubi had a lot on his table to retain the title.

It all starts between the posts, and for Bromley, Jerferson will be entering his seventh season as starter for the club. The 27 year old Brazilian will never be a standout talent as his potential suggested a few years back, and he will never feature as a starter for his national team, but he has served the club adequately despite his inconsistencies. He conceded 43 goals last season, his best since joining the club, and also registered 1.39 Con/90 – a career best. This is not to say that Jnoubi is satisfied with his performance, as the word out of Bromley is that the manager would like an upgrade at the position, but as of yet, he has still not found the right alternative. He had two highly rated GKs as back up – Henrique and James Toner – but neither is ready for a fulltime starter role. As it would have it, Paris Saint-Germain swooped in with a £4m bid for Henrique that Bromley accepted, so now the clear No.2 is 18 year old Toner, who is a product of the Bromley Youth Academy. The Bromley coaching staff believe he has the potential to be one of the best in the world at the position, but he is still very young and very raw. Nevertheless, expect to see more of Toner this season as Jnoubi will look to see if he has found the long term replacement for Jeferson.

Frustrated by years of sub-par left backs and inconsistent performance from the position, the manager went all out during the summer and bought one of the finest left backs in the football today. Taking the money he had amassed from two seasons of sales, he shelled out a ridiculous £65m to acquire Josip Krsticevic from Leverkusen. The 26 year old German international has become a Leverkusen legend, having spent ten years with the club and won everything that the Bundesliga has to offer. He captured the Bundesliga title with Leverkusen in 2022, and won the league’s Footballer of the Year (2025) and Defender of the Year (2021), as well as the Europa League in 2018 and 2022, and he was named in the World Team of the Year in 2022, 2023, and 2024. Basically, Jnoubi went out and bought the most accomplished left back in the world today, and bought him in the prime of his career. Krsticevic will be partnering perhaps the most talented young central defender in football today in Aaron Owens, who won his first callup to the Premier League Select in 2026. The 21 year old was also named in the England national team, and participated in the World Cup in Mexico over the summer, advancing to the Quarter-Finals with the defending champions before losing to Germany. He also showcased an ability to score from the corner kick, hitting 6 goals last season to go with his 7.26 AR. It cannot be said enough that Jnoubi bought him for only £400k from Middlesbrough, a ridiculously low sum that can only be viewed as one of the biggest coups in recent football history. Owens partner in the center of the defensive line is not so clear cut, however, with the sale of Domingues and Aarab over the summer. It does show that the manager feels that his two options – Thomas Buus Andreasen and local product Duncan Head – are ready to step up to the plate. Scouting reports on the latter are especially positive, and Andreasen earned his first caps for Denmark over the summer, while the former has earned his way into the first team after coming through the Bromley Youth Academy ranks, also getting called up for his first England cap this summer, as well. The biggest question mark in the defensive line is on the right – with the departure of Aarab, there is no clear cut replacement. Jnoubi will be looking to shift £16m Jorge Anton, whom he bought from Barcelona last year, to the right, where he has the potential to do well, and he also acquired 18 year old Brazilian Galego for £1.5m to serve as back-up. Still, neither Anton nor Galego has been proven at the position or this level, and it is a major risk the manager is taking despite Aarab’s frustrating inconsistencies.

With the departures of Wellman, Rizzo, Tshibasu, and Meichelbeck over the last two years, the midfield looks a lot different going into the 2026/27 season that it did one season ago. What is not different, however, is that the central figure of the midfield line – and vice-captain of the club – remains Nikolaj Andresen, the 25 year old Dane who can now be considered one of the best at the position in the world. He was chosen to the Premier League Select for the second straight year, and had his best season ever in 2025/26, registering 6 goals, 17 assists, and a 7.41 AR – all career-highs. The manager often refers to his as the heart of the his squad, and with good reason – he has become one of the most indispensable players he has and a club legend, as well. His underachieving partner in the center of the pitch, Todd Wellman, has been sold to West Ham for £5m, which leaves a question mark as to who will replace him. The current candidates are Diego Toro and Alfie Clark, both of whom are not 20 years old yet and don’t have a lot of experience under their belt. Toro, who is 18 years old, was acquired for £625k from Universidad de Chile during the January window last season, has loads of technical ability and doesn’t seem to have any glaring weaknesses, but he has not been tried yet. He will be given the chance to prove himself, as well Bromley Youth Academy product Clark, who turned 19 years old at the end last season. He played a bit last season as Jnoubi attempted to see if he was up to the task, but the jury is still out. He has the right abilities, and is strong for a player of his age, so he looks to at least be capable of a rotation spot, but nothing is clear until he actually proves it on the pitch. At the right winger position, the club has had a different starter in each of the past two seasons. In 2024/25, Ivano Rizzo played well enough to win his third straight Young Player of the Year award, and getting named Bromley’s Player of the Year in the process. He was sold in the summer of 2025 for £32m, and replaced by 18 year hold German Johannes Meichelbeck, of whom there was doubts if he was capable of taking Rizzo’s place. He ended up having a great season and won the Premier League title to boot, but this summer he was also sold for £35m to Real Madrid. As opposed to before, however, going into the 2026/27 season, there is no clear cut choice as starter. Jnoubi has spent the last two years training Kenny Robinson, a graduate of the Bromley Youth Academy, at the right wing position, and it is assumed he will be given the chance to prove he is capable of taking over the role this season. The manager also invested £18.75m in another Barcelona product in Joan Solanes, who can play in either winger position or even in the center of the pitch. The 17 year old is as of yet completely untried, having only featured for Barcelona’s reserve side a few times, but his few performances in the Spanish U21 side convinced Jnoubi that he is well worth the staggering amount paid for the 17 year old. He will be thrown right into the mix as a rotation member of the squad, given the lack of depth at both winger positions. While there might be depth at the left wing position, the starter for the club, French international Javier Zaballa, has proven himself to be quite capable of playing at a very high level and is one of the undisputed leaders at the club. Unfortunately, he spent quite a lot of times on the injury list last season with three different injuries – a double hernia, a calf strain, and a pulled hamstring – which limited him to only 24 games. He did record a career-high with 10 assists to go along with his 7 goals, 5 PoMs, and 7.17 AR. Only 22 years old, he has become one of Jnoubi’s favorites and one of the club’s most reliable players.

The world will have to brace itself for the coming of a potential superstar in Radim Bohac – at only 16 years of age, he scored the brace that gifted Bromley the Premier League title in the last game of the season against Arsenal. He played in 35 games for the squad this season, registering 18 goals, 10 assists, 4 PoMs, and a 7.15 AR – good numbers for a player of any age, absolutely astonishing numbers considering his is only 16 years old. He is already a star for his club, but the 2026/27 season – where he will be only 17 years old – looks to see him catapulted into global fame. Next to him in the starting lineup is another youngers in 20 year old German striker Martin Mannel and club captain Laurie Jones. The former once again was a star for the club, scoring 21 goals and registering career-highs with 12 assists and 7.35 AR. He has been a remarkable return on the £15m investment that so many questioned three years ago, and he earned his first Premier League Select call this season as a reward for his fine form. Jones, perhaps the greatest ever Bromley Youth Academy product, had a bit of a bounce back season after spending the 2025/26 season mostly injured – he played in 30 games, registering 13 goals and 6 assists. The captain is no longer the focus of Bromley’s attack, but he remains very much in the rotation and has become an international now, having declared his allegiance to Wales.

congrats on winning the league :) i got no idea how you could of done that with such an inexperienced squad!

They might be young but most of them have been playing with the first team for a few years! Honestly, its all about the tactics - I set up my team in such a way that I rarely have standout performers but generally I get good consistent team performances.

PREMIER LEAGUE: The defending Premier League champions barely spent any time on top of the league this season, faltering a little bit at the start of the season. Despite a strong finish, defeats like the 5-0 home humiliation against eventual champions Man City cost Bromley the title, as they had to settle for second place. They were not that far off, though, having finished just one point behind the new champions, but in all fairness, Man City were the better team this season.

DOMESTIC CUPS: Another disappointing season for the club in the domestic cups. Again, the club fell in the Capital One Cup Third Round, this time to Newcastle at home. The FA Cup saw Bromley beat Portsmouth away in the 3rd Round, but fell to Bournemouth over two legs due to a draw in the first leg in the 4th Round.

EUROPEAN CUPS: Bromley had participated just once before in the Champions League, advancing to the Quarter-Finals in 2025 before finally falling to Inter Milan. The same fate befell the club this season, too, as they lost out in the Quarter-Finals – this time, it was eventual champions Atletico Madrid that defeated the defending Premier League champions. The Group Stages were pretty straight forward for the club, as they advanced over CSKA Moscow and Slavan Bratislava, but they did have problems against Paris Saint-Germain – the French club defeated them 3-0 in Paris and held them to a 2-2 draw at home. Valencia were their Second Round opponents, and Radim Bohac set the competition on fire with a hat-trick at home against the Spanish side. Valencia managed to take a 3-2 win in Spain during the second leg, but that was not enough to overturn the result. Unfortunately, Bromley would meet their match in the Quarter-Finals, as Atletico beat them over two legs.

Almost £90m was spent on transfers this season, but then again, the club sold almost £90m worth of players, so there was no spending money that was not there. The big move, of course, was the £65m acquisition of Josip Krsticevic, but perhaps the one that turned the most heads was the £18.75m move for 17 year old Joan Solanes from Barcelona. Going the other way, Johannes Meichelbeck and Hatim Aarab fetched £35m and £22.5m, respectively, from Real Madrid, while the club did extremely well to get £15m for Genaro Domingues from Wolfsburg. Aitor Coll, initially bought for £10m, was sold for a low sum of £2.3m to Manchester City during the January transfer window after seeing his playing time completely disappear, while £5m sale Todd Wellman showed the same kind of underwhelming performances for West Ham as he did for Bromley.

PLAYER ANALYSIS

GOALKEEPERS

Jeferson, GK, 27 Years Old: Injuries curtailed what looked to be the Brazilian’s finest season in a Bromley shirt….He only managed to play in 21 games thanks to a broken finger and a thigh strain….That and Jnoubi featured Toner in quite a few matches….He conceded 29 goals, registering a 1.38 Con/90 and a 6.87 AR….This was his seventh year as Bromley’s No.1, but that looks like it is coming to an end – if not next year, then the following one….An average GK who would do the job for a lot of other teams, but is just not good enough for a Champions League caliber squad, which Bromley has become.

James Toner, GK, 19 Years Old: The coaching staff suggest that he could be one of the best GKs in the world within a few years….They said the same about Jeferson, however, and he never panned out the way they felt….He certainly got a lot of playing time despite his young age, featuring in 17 games and registering 1.00 Con/90 and a 6.88 AR….He is a Bromley Youth Academy product, so he is already a crowd favorite….Expect more of the same in terms of playing time next season as Jnoubi continues to bring him along in hopes becoming the undisputed No.1 for the squad.

DEFENDERS

Josip Krsticevic, DL, 27 Years Old: Not only was he Bromley’s record signing, but was actually the biggest signing in the world in the last 15 years….Jnoubi shocked a lot of people by paying £65m for who is widely considered the best left back in the world, but such was the manager’s desperation to solve his problem at the position….Needless to say, the problem is officially solved, although the German’s first year with the club was a good, but not great, one….In 32 games, he registered 5 assists, 3.90 TpG, 1.20 DpG, and a 7.07 AR….His presence in the squad was priceless, however….Bromley will look for more from the German as he enters his second season with the club and the prime of his career.

Aaron Owens, DC, 21 Years Old: The highest rated defender in England, and still only 21 years old….In 37 games, he registered 4 goals, 5 PoMs, a league-leading 505 Interceptions, and a 7.21 AR….His 2.60 TpG highlights perhaps the only weak spot in his game….This was his fifth full year as Bromley player, and it was also his fifth as a full-time starter for the club….He has now earned 17 caps for England….He was named to his second consecutive Premier League Select this season.

Duncan Head, DC, 21 Years Old: Jnoubi’s preferred starter in the rotation at the central defender position, the Bromley Youth Academy product continued to show improvement in his sixth year since breaking into the first team….In 23 games, he registered 2.90 TpG and a 6.95 AR….His form during the first half of the season was impressive, but he found the second half difficult, suffering through inconsistent form….A versatile defender, he is equally adept at the left back position….His strength is his aerial ability, and he has impressed enough that he has now earned 3 caps for England.

Jorge Anton, DR, 19 Years Old: The defacto starter at the club’s weakest position this season, Anton did a decent job….In 27 games, he registered 2.68 TpG and a 7.01 AR….Still, it is painfully obvious that the club needs an upgrade at right back….Perhaps Jnoubi’s biggest blunder, as he paid Barcelona £16.25m for a player whose peak looks like he will be a rotation player at best….The manager has already taken a heavy loss at another Spanish full-back signed from Barcelona (Aitor Coll, who signed for Man City for £2.3m after being bought for £10m), and will be taking an even heavier one if he decides to sell Anton.

Thomas Buus Andreasen, DC, 19 Years Old: Shared playing time with Head in the central defense position, but was definitely the more impressive of the two….In 24 games he scored an outstanding 8 goals, and registered 3 PoMs, 2.73 TpG, and a 7.20 AR….He was genuine threat from set-pieces, as all his goals came from corners or set-piece crosses….Jnoubi will be looking to perhaps make him the starter next season, given his impressive performances this year.

MIDFIELDERS

Javier Zaballa, ML, 23 Years Old: This was the French left winger’s finest season in his career till date, earning his first Premier League Select call….In 34 games, he scored a career-high 15 goals and registered career-highs with 11 assists and 7.30 AR….Was arguably the finest left winger in the Premier League this season….Has been the target of countless offers, some as high as £30m, but Jnoubi has refused every one of them and said he had no intention to sell Zaballa….This was his 8th season with the club, making him one of the longest serving players on the squad….Look for him to be a more integral part in the World Cup Finalists France set up very soon, as his reputation continues to grow.

Nikolaj Andresen, MC, 24 Years Old: A starter for the club since the very beginning, the vice-captain completed his 8th season with Bromley….For the third year in a row, he was named in the Premier League Select, solidifying his position as one of the two best central midfielders in the league today….He played in 32 games, registering 3 goals, 17 assists (tying his career-high), 4 PoMs, and a career-high 7.47 AR….This is his 5th straight season with double-digit assists numbers….His also perhaps one of Denmark’s most important players, having earned 43 caps to date….As consistent as they come, and with the reliability comes popularity, as he is considered a legend at the club. Career

Diego Toro, MC, 19 Years Old: Although it was a given that Toro was going to see more playing time this season, few expected him to play as much as he did….In 28 games, he registered 1 goal, 2 assists, 1.51 TpG, 1.14 DpG, and a 6.85 AR….In other words, he was not terribly impressive but was surprisingly well-rounded…He didn’t cost the club much, as he came for £625k last year, but has already proven he is worth more than that….Has outstanding technical ability, so the assumption is that if Jnoubi sticks with him, he will deliver on his potential.

Kenny Robinson, MR, 20 Years Old: In his first full season as a starter, he did a good job of filling the void left by Ivano Rizzo and Johannes Meichelbeck….In 26 games, he registered 8 goals, 6 assists, 3.13 DpG, and a 7.16 AR – comparable numbers to both of his predecessors….He is a similar player to both, as well, with his main strength being his pace….The Bromley Youth Academy product will look to take the next step up in 2027/28, as his talent is certainly capable of having record a double-double.

Alfie Clark, MC, 20 Years Old: Given a chance in the rotation, Clark did not disappoint, playing throughout the season….In 20 games, he registered 4 goals, 2 assists, 2 PoMs, 3.27 TpG, 1.15 DpG, and a 6.99 AR….His numbers were a showcase of his physicality and stamina on the pitch, as he provided the squad with well-rounded performances every time he took to the field….As hard a worker as anyone on the team, which is why he has been successful in making the first team.

FORWARDS

Laurie Jones, SC, 25 Years Old: Still the most important player in the locker room for the club, the captain continues to be a serviceable player on the pitch, as well….The club can be considered to have four legends in its history: Kafra Jnoubi, Elliot Rudd, Nikolaj Andresen, and – of course – Laurie Jones….Rudd and Jones are both products of the Bromley Youth Academy….Played in 21 games, registering 9 goals, 5 assists, and a 6.97 AR….Feels like he has been around forever, but will have only just turned 26 years old when the 2027/28 starts. Career

Radim Bohac, SC, 17 Years Old: The young Czech striker had quite an eventful season….He became the full-time starter for Bromley, playing in a poacher position, while also becoming a regular for his national team, earning 4 caps….His 2026/27 was almost identical to the previous one – in 34 games, he scored 17 goals and registered 11 assists, 5 PoMs, and a 7.17 AR….When you consider he finished the season only 17 years old, the numbers quickly become incredible….There is no denying that is definitely one of the handful of teenagers who look like a lock to be one of the world’s stars in the coming decade….There is no single weakness in his game, and with age, he should transform into a monster of a striker.

Martin Mannel, SC, 21 Years Old: With the emergence of Bohac came the decline of Mannel….He has three great seasons at the club, but this year he took a step back….In 25 games, he only ended up with 11 goals, and his 7.00 was his lowest in three years….He certainly was not the same player that was picked to the Premier League Select last season thanks to two straight 20+ goal seasons….His £17.5m move to Hannover was completed in February, but to his credit, he was selected to the German national team, scoring a goal in his debut….With Bohac and so many young strikers either already at the club or joining the club, there was simply no more place for Mannel. Career

ONES TO WATCH

Messias, SC, 18 Years Old: The start to his Bromley career got off to a blistering start – in one of his first games, he broke the club record by scoring an incredible 4 goals against West Brom….Injuries did affect his season, however, as fractured ribs and a strained wrist kept him out of action for about two months….He finished the season having played in 20 games, registering 9 goals, 2.39 DpG, and a 7.04 AR – not a bad return for an 18 year old who cost the club only £3.7m from Sao Paolo….He is one of many young Brazilians who will be making their way to the club in the next couple of years.

Joan Solanes, ML/R, 18 Years Old: Jnoubi once again raised some eyebrows by paying an exuberant sum for a Barcelona youngster….His three previous signings from Barcelona (£4.8m for Jose Planas, £10m for Aitor Coll, £16.25 for Jorge Anton) were also Jnoubi’s three biggest transfer blunders, but that did not stop him from paying £18.75m for Solanes….In all fairness, Solanes easily looks like the best of the bunch….He can play at either winger position, and had a pretty decent first season at the club, playing in 21 games and registering 6 assists, 0.94 TpG, 1.52 DpG, and a 6.86 AR….If he can develop a little more pace, he will be a nightmare for opposing full backs given his abilities.

Galego, DL/R, 18 Years Old: Signed from Avai for £1.5m, the Brazilian was not expected to see much playing time this season, but with the sale of Aarab and injuries taking hold of the full back positions, he ended up playing in 17 games….He was not very impressive, registering 3.06 TpG and a 6.75 AR, but he showed enough talent to have many excited for the future….With Jorge Anton looking like he will not start the next season as Bromley’s starting right back, the job could be handed to Galego to see how well he does.

Dominic May, MC, 15 Years Old: A recent graduate of the Bromley Youth Academy, he has not played much as of yet, but his talent is there for everyone to see….Good pace, great attacking instincts, and still only 15 years old….Jnoubi will look to bring him along slowly, but he should see playing time next season.

Nicely done. Congratulations!
What Bruce said.
Great to see you now competing at the top of the Premier League. And well done on your first league title too

Thanks! Still a selling club, so it makes things difficult, but the club's reputation is growing fast enough that we are now being able to retain our stars and attract the bigger names, also! The 5-0 home loss against Man City was very painful to take, though - it cost us the league this year.

PREMIER LEAGUE: Although they finished two points less than the previous season, Bromley claimed their second Premier League title in three years, scoring a club record 101 goals and also conceding a record low of 43 goals. Their offense, led by Radim Bohac, was their calling card as they replaced Manchester City as champions – the fallen holders finished in 2nd Place. The squad was consistent throughout the year, and that consistency both at the offensive and defensive end won them the title.

DOMESTIC CUPS: The FA Cup completed Bromley’s domestic double, as the club defeated Manchester City in the Finals after an extremely tense extra-time win against surprising Burton in the Semi-Finals. In truth, the squad had a very easy time getting to the Finals, as they faced Cheltenham in the 6th Round, Cardiff in the 5th Round, and Brentford and Sheffield United before that. In the Capital One Cup, the club advanced to the Quarter-Finals before falling to Hull.

EUROPEAN CUPS: A relatively tough Group G saw the club advance alongside Bayern Munich at the expense of FC Twente and Spartak Moscow, but not before conceding a worrying 11 goals. The Second Round matchup could not have gone any better as they defeated PSV 4-0 at home, with Messias scoring a brace, before a 0-0 bore in Holland in the second leg. Once again, however, the Quarter-Finals would be where the story would end for Bromley, as they would lose to city rivals Arsenal – they were especially unimpressive in the second leg, as Arsenal ran out 3-0 winners at home.

PLAYER ANALYSIS

GOALKEEPERS

James Toner , GK, 20 Years Old: After starting in place of the injured Jeferson for half of the 2026/27 season, Toner was chosen to be Bromley’s new No.1 for the 2027/28 season, and he did not disappoint….Already an England international, his value soared this year and is now considered England’s hottest GK prospect….His first full season as a starter was more impressive than of Jeferson’s….In 35 games, he conceded 39 goals and registered a 1.11 Con/90 and a 6.94 AR – both numbers the Brazilian never managed to reach….He has come a long way in a relatively short time since moving up into the first team from the Bromley Youth Academy in 2024….Without him, it is unlikely Bromley would have had their most successful season in their history, and without his solid performances, Jnoubi would never had sold Jeferson in the middle of the season.

DEFENDERS

Josip Krsticevic, DL, 28 Years Old: The biggest signing in the world of the last 15 years, the £65m Bromley paid for him reaped the benefit of a domestic double in his second season….Despite his exuberant price tag, his influence on the team has been underrated….In typical German fashion, rarely makes a mistake and is the epitome of efficiency….In 32 appearances, he registered 4.00 TpG, 79% Pass Ratio, 1.17 DpG, and a 7.28 AR….Many people continue to proclaim spending so much on a left back was outrageous, but Jnoubi seems to know exactly what he is doing, as the German has brought with him so much that does not register on the stat sheet….That being said, his numbers definitely point to him being perhaps the finest left back in the world. Aaron Owens, DC, 22 Years Old: England’s highest profile defender continued to be the source of bids as high as £45m from all across the continent, and with good reason….He was named in the Premier League Select for the third consecutive time after having his finest season to date….In 33 games, he registered 2 goals, 3 assists, 3.25 TpG, a league-leading 487 Interceptions, and a career-high 7.39 AR….He has become the complete package at the central defender position, and has been rewarded with 24 caps for England as a result….His ability to cut off a pass and read the movement of the game is second to none….Amazingly, this was his 6th season as a full-time starter for the club despite his age….He is probably England’s most exciting and talented prospect at his position since the days of Rio Ferdinand and Jon Terry. Career

Nolan Monteil, DC, 22 Years Old: After winning the Premier League title due mostly to improvements in the defensive line, no one can argue with Jnoubi paying Bayern Munich £41.5m for the French central defender….In 30 games, he registered 4 goals, 2.71 TpG, and a 7.21 AR as he was named in the Premier League Select in his first season with the club….He brought consistency and support to Aaron Owens that made a world of difference to the way Bromley played out of the back….He has been a performer no matter where he has gone – whether it has been with Marseille, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, or Bromley….Has already earned 14 caps for France despite his deceptively young age.

Galego, DL/DR, 19 Years Old: The defacto starting right back this season, the 19 year old Brazilian could be called the newly crowned champions’ weak link in its starting lineup if one was to nitpick….Acquired for £1.5m last year, Galego is best suited as a versatile back up for both full-back positions, but found himself as the starter after Anton was sold and there was no alternatives….This is not to say he did a bad job – in 33 games, he managed a respectable 3.27 TpG and 6.98 AR….That being said, he simply is not the starting right back a team that is looking to defend its Premier League title would want.

Thomas Buus Andreasen, DC, 20 Years Old: His most highlighted ability might be his gift for finding the net, but the young Dane is also a fantastic center-back in his own right….That being said, 7 goals from 18 games while registering a 7.58 AR are some pretty impressive numbers….He featured as the third choice central defender behind global stars Monteil and Owens, and there is no shame in that….He is just as capable, and never disappointed when he played this season….He will continue to feature in the first team and be an important player, and should any either Owens or Monteil succumb to injury, Bromley know they have a talented player ready to fill their shoes.

MIDFIELDERS

Javier Zaballa, ML, 24 Years Old: The French international was the subject of many £30m+ bids throughout the season, and they were swiftly rejected….He was named the Premier League Young Player of the Year and named to his second straight Premier League Select – not a bad return for a £11k investment….In 29 games, he registered 11 goals, a career-high 14 assists, 4 PoMs, 3.48 DpG, and a career-high 7.42 AR….Has become one of Bromley’s most indispensable players, and his importance for the French national side can also not be overstated. Career

Diego Toro, MC, 20 Years Old: The Chilean started out the season in Bromley’s first eleven, but ended it on the fringe of the first team….In truth, he has not shown the type of progress needed and Jnoubi will be looking to offload him this summer….In 22 games, he registered 2 goals, 3 assists, and a 6.89 AR….Not numbers you would want from your starter….The good news is he was not a big investment, costing the club only £625k….Still, he has not shown he is good enough to be on a Premier League championship team…A lot was expected of him, but his development has been very stagnant.

Nikolaj Andresen, MC, 25 Years Old: In a league filled with talented central midfielders and amazing passers of the ball, the Dane was selected for his fourth consecutive English Premier League Select….In 36 games, he registered 3 goals, 17 assists (tied for his career-high and second in the league), 1.38 TpG, 77% Pass Ratio, 1.44 DpG, and a 7.38 AR….In other words, there is hardly a flaw in his game….This was his 9th season as a starter for the club, and the vice-captain is without a doubt one of the club’s all-time legends….He has already earned 50 caps for Denmark, scoring 7 goals in the process. Career

Kenny Robinson, MR, 21 Years Old: Better than both Ivano Rizzo and Johannes Meichelbeck? It is looking more and more like that is the case….While Rizzo might have had better statistical seasons, Robinson has already shown better overall ability and talent than both of the mentioned players….In 30 games, he registered 11 goals, 8 assists, 3 PoMs, 4.00 DpG, and a 7.30 AR….Additionally, he earned his first 4 caps for England, scoring 2 goals and generally seeing his value skyrocket….His natural position as he progressed through the Bromley Youth Academy was in the center of the pitch, but Jnoubi has transformed him into one of the most dangerous right wingers in the world….One would be very hard pressed to find a quicker player in the world of the football today.

Joan Solanes, ML/MR, 19 Years Old: The questions about whether he was worth the £18.75m Bromley paid for him to pry him away from Barcelona last season have started to come up less and less frequently….In 21 games (10 starts), he registered 8 goals, 3 assists, and a 7.14 AR….This was his second season with the club, and if the 2027/28 season was a sign of things to come, Bromley have a potential star on their hands….After the disasters of Planas, Anton, and Coll – all of which preceded Solanes in being acquired from Barcelona – it looks like fourth time will be the charm in terms of acquisitions from the Catalan club.

Alfie Clark, MC, 21 Years Old: In terms of playing the role expected of him, no one did it better than Clark….He has fought his way from a Bromley Youth Academy graduate a rotation player than can reliably backup the central midfield positions….In 23 games (13 starts), he registered 2 goals, 3 assists, 2.21 TpG, 78% Pass Ratio, and a 6.98 AR….He is never going to be a star, but he is a work-horse whose physicality and stamina go a long way in making him important to the squad.

FORWARDS

Radim Bohac, SC, 18 Years Old: The league’s second leading scorer and third highest AR this season, all at the age of 18….In 35 games, he registered 28 goals, 9 assists, 7 PoMs, and a 7.46 AR as he was named to his first Premier League Select….He is no longer a star in the making – he is, in every right, a global superstar in the game….There are no evident weaknesses in his game – his finishing, his attacking ability, his pace, his skill with the ball at his feet – all of it is amongst the best in the world….To think he cost Bromley just £1m a few years ago….Other than Mariel Everton, one would be hard-pressed to find a more talented striker in the world today….Jnoubi has done an amazing job of bringing the best out of Bohac, and considering his age, there is so much more to come from him. Career

Laurie Jones , SC, 25 Years Old: His importance to the club on the pitch is no longer substantial, but he remains the club’s captain for a reason….The Bromley Youth Academy product and club legend made noise about wanting a new challenge last year, and it seems Jnoubi is not against the idea….In 17 games, he only managed to score 3 goals, and also registered 5 assists to along with a respectable 7.07 AR….If Jones can be satisfied with a back-up role for the club, Jnoubi would be hard-pressed to find a better candidate for the role. Career

Messias, SC, 20 Years Old: He has already agreed to a £15m move to Arsenal, so this was his final season with the club after coming for £3.7m two years ago….In 28 games, he registered 9 goals, 12 assists, and a 7.12 AR playing as both a striker and a right winger….Showed a talent for scoring goals in the two seasons he spent with the club, but also surprised many with his passing ability….Part of the young Brazilian contingent that has made its way to England thanks to Jnoubi’s almost obsessive scouting team in Brazil.
